    The Russian authorities used repressive measures against the Poles, who were active partic-ipants in the November 1830 and January 1863 uprisings. These measures included arrest and ex-pulsion to the inner provinces of the Russian Empire under the supervision of the police without the right to return to their homeland; the inclusion in military garrisons stationed in various parts of the empire; the direction to serve in the troops in the Caucasus, where military operations were conducted against the local highlanders and expulsion to hard labour and settlement in Siberia or in the internal provinces of Russia.The severity of repressive measures was determined by the fact that, in the exiled Poles, they saw a source of hatred spreading towards the tsarist government. The authorities feared the influ-ence of their thoughts on the liberal strata of Russian society, especially on young people. With such measures, they tried to suppress the restless minds. The imperial authorities also feared the reaction of Europe, which threatened Russia with “anathema” and intervention.

    Unlike many previous ones which contained authors’ socially conditioned interpretations of Oles Ulianenko’s works, the article suggests an original, poetically determined, psychoanalytical reading of Zymova povist. As a result, the conclusion is that in this short but aesthetically powerful work of fiction of unclear genre, plot and theme, the Ukrainian author offers a concentrated, concise presentation of polysemous and expressive archetype images, which are obviously connected with social-historical, moral-ethical, and philosophical subject matter which found its in-depth representation in his later literary work. Above all, however, in this particular work of fiction, Ulianenko depicts how death is defeated by repeated victory.
    W prezentowanym artykule zaproponowana została oryginalna, w przeciwieństwie do wielu wcześniejszych odczytań Zimowej opowieści Ołesia Ulianenki zazwyczaj opartych na podejściu socjologicznym, psychoanalityczna interpretacja tego dzieła, sięgająca głęboko do poetyki utworu. Przeprowadzona analiza dowodzi, że w niewielkim, ale znakomitym pod względem artystycznym szkicu, który trudno przypisać do określonego gatunku i w którym niełatwo wyznaczyć fabułę i temat, ukraiński pisarz w skondensowanej formie zaprezentował liczne wieloaspektowe i sugestywne obrazy archetypowe, ściśle powiązane z problematyką wspólnotowo-historyczną, moralno-etyczną, filozoficzną (immanentnie obecną w jego późniejszych pracach). Ponadto, co najważniejsze, autor udowodnił, że śmierć można pokonać dzięki powtarzającym się zwycięstwom.

    The article clarifies the role of the Olshany cemetery in Prague as a location for the memory of Ukrainians and about Ukrainians. Olshany is one of the largest necropolises of prominent Ukrainians outside Ukraine. Most Ukrainians buried here became emigrants as a result of the defeat of the Ukrainian National Revolution of 1917-1921. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the perception of this necropolis among Ukrainians, to show some aspects of mentions of Olshany in the Ukrainian information space and to find out its possible role as a place of memory. The topic of Olshany became more active in the Ukrainian media in 2017 due to the threat of losing the grave of one of the most prominent Ukrainian poets of the early twentieth century – Oleksandr Oles (Kandyba) and his wife. The periodicity of attention to Olshany is explained by the interest of Ukrainians in the subject of the Ukrainian National Revolution of 1917-1921, which also acquires a greater resonance closer to the memorable dates. Members of the Ukrainian governments buried in the cemetery, including Fedor Shvets, Stepan Siropolko, Volodymyr Leontovych, Sofi a Rusova, Hryhoriy Sydorenko, Apollinarii Marshynsky, as well as scientists and artists Spiridon Cherkasenko, Mykola Andrusov, Yevhen Ivanenko and others, together with the military UGA, are very important part of the memory of Ukrainian post-revolutionary emigration, and involve people in understanding their destinies through the fields in which they were engaged before, during and after the Revolution. Th at is why Olshany already acts as a place of memory for Ukrainian historians, teachers, diplomats, etc. But given the professional diversity of the people buried there and the significant legacy they have left behind, this place has greater potential. And new generations of Ukrainians who work or study in the Czech Republic now can contribute even more to this.

    The article is devoted to the literary heritage of Oles Ulianenko, who was virtually the only national author addressing LGBTQIA+ subject matter. The corporal-mimetic method was applied to analyze fiction works, which enabled us to draw a number of meaningful conclusions. On the one hand, LGBTQIA+ themes are typologically represented by a variety of images which are characterized by both an ironic dimension and dramatic pathos, interpreted not in ethical but in aesthetic terms. On the other hand, Oles Ulianenko was the first to shift homosexuality into the visible realm, and to represent the “splendors and miseries” (H. de Balzac) of homoeroticism to Ukrainian society; who, with his sexualized, homosexualized and lesbian narrative of his literary works attempted to speak of a future when his country would overcome the lack of social and sexual freedom.

    The aim of the study was to determine the nitrogen speciation in organic soils under mulching, made from sedge and peat. For speciation tests, the method based on extraction with neutral reagent and two-stage acid hydrolysis allowing the separation of mineral nitrogen and organic forms: soluble, easily hydrolysable, hardly hydrolyzing and non-hydrolyzing. Characteristic for the degradation of dehydrated peats, the processes of oxygen transformation of organic matter increased the share of the most mobile soluble and easily hydrolysable fractions. The easily soluble and easily hydrolysable fraction was closely correlated with the decomposition processes of the organic matter of the studied soils. It was confirmed that a useful indicator describing the state of transformations of peat soils occurring after their dehydration, may be the ratio of the amount of nitrogen of the easily hydrolysable to the hardly hydrolysable form. The value of this ratio showed a significant linear relationship with soil characteristics characteristically variable in transformation processes of drained peat soils. It grew along with the advancement of decomposition processes of organic matter.

    The article “Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry” by Oleh Olzhych has been given the status of an authoritative source in domestic literary criticism in recent decades, in particular, in the study of the genesis of emigrant poetry of 1920-1930 and in general on the interpretation of the state of national literature in eastern and western countries, which in the interwar period were respectively under the rule of Russia and Poland. Only the “textual coincidences, general concept and intonation” of the article and Olzhych’s related texts were taken as the basis of identification. Such a technique contains elements of pre-programming of the final result and can lead to erroneous conclusions in identifying the author of the publication. It draws attention to the analogies of text construction, subject matter, lexical and stylistic coincidences, etc., but distracts from what is the main in the objective establishment of the publication of a particular person - the (internal) content of the text. Th e example of Olzhych’s attitude to the process of development of national literature in the interwar period and especially to the work of his father (Oleksandr Oles) shows that he can’t be the author of a politically quite controversial article “Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry”.

    The subject of the paper is to compare the two contemporary novels – “Вовча зоря” (1991) and “Сталінка” (1994). The research question concernes the portrayal of the lost generation by the two prominent Ukrainian writers, also authors of the aforementioned novels – Y. Pashkovsky (b. 1962) and O. Ulyanenko (1962-2010). The research methodology includes the historical approach, the theoretical approach, the analytical method and the comparative approach. Research involved an analysis of source material, specifically the avalaible critical pieces (papers, reviews, interviews). Results learned from the research allow us to determine that despite a few differences in world creation and style, both writers accurately portrayed the Ukrainian lost generation of the 1980s, including their misplaced values and lost direction.

    The article raises the issue of the existence of Ukrainian poetic/lyric dramaturgy. Based on the example of the analysis of lyric-intimate symbolist dramaturgical sketches by O. Oles’, it is proved that the characteristic features of such types of works are the lyric self-expression of the hero resulting from poetic speech, the incredible tenseness of monologues and dialogues, intensification of inner psychological conflict, reduction and erosion of the plot pattern of events, extension of theatricality and the emotional perception of the world and the mental condition of the dramatis personae, et cetera. For clarification of such dramaturgy of the writer, typologically similar plays by other Ukrainian and foreign authors are given.

    Друга частина монографії Під „Знаком Саваофа, або „Там, де…” Ульяненко є ґрунтовним продовженням дослідження творчості українського письменника Олеся Ульяненка (1962–2010) авторства Фелікса Штейнбука. Ульяненкознавець із Братислави вирішив якомога точніше відобразити суть і мету творчості Ульяненка, для якого справжнім і єдиним предметом розгляду була людина та її душа. Оригінальний аналіз досвідченого дослідника базується на екзегетичній інтерпретації прозової спадщини Ульяненка, альтернативній щодо традиційних історико-літературних трактувань. Книга, яка, як обіцяв її автор, містить найповніший, ґрун- товний та оригінальний аналіз творчості Олеся Ульяненка, водночас є основою для подальших фундаментальних досліджень літературної спадщини письменника та, безумовно, заслуговує на належну оцінку з боку як літературознавців, так і широкого кола читачів

    У статті запропоновано розгляд особливостей сюжетно-композиційної структури усіх завершених романів сучасного українського письменника Олеся Ульяненка, починаючи зі Сталінки і закінчуючи Перлами і свинями, з огляду як на конвенційну, так і неконвенційну реалізацію у цих творах таких стандартних елементів, як експозиція, зав’язка, розвиток дії, кульмінація і розв’язка. Відповідно до результатів розвідки лінійний та послідовний варіант сюжетно-композиційної структури у романах Олеся Ульяненка часто порушується не за рахунок зовнішньо детермінованої динаміки, а насамперед завдяки незвичній фабулі. До того ж ці структури характеризуються соціологічною ангажованістю авторського дискурсу. Проте соціологічний вимір романів поєднано із тілесним підґрунтям суспільної і особистої екзистенції дійових осіб аналізованих творів, а також намаганням сягнути онтологічні сенси, що формуються на межі суперечливих феноменів суспільного і тілесного буття.
    The article examines the features of the plot-composition structure of every finished novel by the modern Ukrainian writer Oles Ulianenko, including "Stalinka" and "Perly i svyni" ("The pearls and the pigs"), having researched how standard elements, such as exposition, conflict, rising action, climax and resolution, are realized conventionally and non-conventionally in these literary works. The research results are as follows: the linear and sequential variant of the plot-composition structure of Oles Ulianenko’s novels is broken not because of the dynamics determined by the outer factors but due to the atypical plots. Besides, these structures are characterized by the socially oriented author’s discourse. However, the social array of the novels is united with the corporal background of the social and personal existence of the characters in the works under analysis, and with intentions to comprehend ontological senses which are formed on the border of the controversial phenomena, social and corporal existence in particular.

    Abstract: The aim of the article is to answer the question in what situations and contexts departing from traditional typographic and editorial norms and conventions turns out tobefortunate, aswell as to present the mechanisms of introducing non-traditional solutions among readers and on the market, and thus shaping typographic and editorial usus. After defining thebasic terms for the article: typographic and editorial usus, typography itself and the concept ofacongenial book, traditional Polish typographic layouts and editorial solutions are presented on the example of the quarterly “Pamiętnik Literacki” (“Literary Memoir”) and the series Biblioteka Narodowa (National Library). Next, 11 representative publications on typography, prepared by the d2d.pl company, are analysed from this angle. The analysis covers such aspects of layout astheparameters of headings, text alignment, the function of highlights, the method ofi solating quotations, the use of margins, pagination, types of figures, the location of footnotes, the form of their numbers and references in the main text, the use of first and second degree quotation marks, as well as the appearance of ornaments. The analysis leads to the conclusion that inthe case ofbooks dealing with typography, preserving their original typographic form was the best possible choice, because this form, no less than the content of the text itself, conveys information about the views and recommendations of the authors. The introduction of such solutions tothe Polish publishing market and to the readers’ awareness by apublishing house respected intheeditorial environment undoubtedly influences the typographic and editorial usus, and it can beexpected that in time it will also transform the related norms.
