    Thesis. Jan Švankmajer’s Kunstkammer is a project with a complex constellation of meaning that defies clear-cut categorization in the context of Pomian’s theory of semiophores.  Discussed concepts. The paper describes the kunstkammer art project created by Jan Švankmajer, a Czech surrealist, in the context of Pomian’s theory of semiophores and compares it to traditional and historical equivalents, using the concepts of micro- and macrocosm, the world as a stage (Theatrum Mundi), hermeticism, and alchemy.  Results and conclusion. Jana Švankmajer’s Kunstkammer should be analyzed primarily in the individual and subjective context, rather than in the social one.   Originality/cognitive value of the approach. Pomian has described many examples of traditional kunstkammers, but there are also several modern collections that have not yet been described in the literature.

Kunstkamera Jana Švankmajera to projekt o skomplikowanym układzie znaczeń, którego nie można jednoznacznie przyporządkować do jednej kategorii w kontekście teorii Krzysztofa Pomiana o semioforach. Omówione koncepcje. Artykuł opisuje artystyczny projekt kunstkamery czeskiego surrealisty Jana Švankmajera w kontekście teorii semioforów Krzysztofa Pomiana oraz porównuje ją do jej tradycyjnych i historycznych odpowiedników odwołując się do koncepcji mikro- i makrokosmosu, teatru świata, hermetyzmu i alchemii. Wyniki i wnioski. Kunstkamerę Jana Švankmajera powinno analizować się w kontekście nie tylko społecznym, ale przede wszystkim indywidualnym i subiektywnym. Oryginalność/wartość poznawcza podejścia. Krzysztof Pomian opisywał różne przykłady tradycyjnych kunstkamer, tymczasem istnieje kilka współczesnych przykładów tego typu kolekcji, wcześniej nieopisanych w publikacjach w języku polskim.
    Thesis. Jan Švankmajer's Kunstkamera is a project with a complex arrangement of meanings that can not be unambiguously assigned to one category in the context of Krzysztof Pomian's theory of semiophores. Concepts discussed. The article describes the artistic project of the Czech surrealist Jan Švankmajer in the context of the semiophore theory of Krzysztof Pomian and compares it to its traditional and historical counterparts referring to the concept of micro and macrocosm, the theater of the world, hermetism and alchemy. Results and conclusions. Jan Švankmajer's Kunstkamer should be analyzed in a context that is not only social, but above all individual and subjective. Originality/cognitive value of the approach. Krzysztof Pomian described various examples of traditional kunstkamer, while there are several contemporary examples of this type of collection, previously unwritten in Polish publications.

    Opis:
    Recognised as archives documenting natural research and human impact on nature and biodiversity loss, natural history museums prompt questions about how to explore, interpret and put their collections in context so as to provoke a discussion on the consequences of constructed concepts of nature, pressing ecological issues, and ethical obligations towards nonhuman beings and the next generation. Answers to these questions may be found in the analysis of selected works by Mark Dion who uses museum instruments and collections not so much to criticise the museum itself but to transform it into an agora. The author studies the artist’s works that refer to cabinets of curiosities. She argues that Dion’s Wunderkammer are visual quotations derived from their 16th and 17th century prototypes. Put in a new context, the quotations eliminate boundaries between words and images, theory and practice, art and science, nature and culture. The said quotations of cabinets of curiosities are of preposterous nature. Dion’s ‘mobile dioramas’ and his Ursus Maritimus project (1992–2002) are in turn recognised as subversive works where natural history museum instruments are used to unveil the institutional framework responsible for our seeing of nature and problems of the Anthropocene such as biodiversity loss.

    Artykuł stanowi analizę praktyk czytelniczych stosowanych przez Wisławę Szymborską w ramach tak zwanych lektur nadobowiązkowych. Zgromadzony w obszernym tomie zbiór książkowych quasi-recenzji reprezentuje twórczość ludyczną, której źródłem jest właściwy poetce – miłośniczce kuriozów i nonsensowego humoru – zmysł dziwności. Celem lektury, obejmującej różnorodne pod względem tematycznym i gatunkowym teksty (podręcznik bukieciarstwa czy popularny poradnik Jak mieszkać wygodniej sąsiaduje tu z Próbami de Montaigne’a czy z Aforyzmami Nietzschego), jest zatem poszukiwanie w nich niezwykłych szczegółów, komicznych paradoksów czy zaskakujących faktów i zdarzeń. Czytaniu Szymborskiej, podporządkowanemu poetyce wyrafinowanej zabawy, wydaje się patronować zarówno idea dawnych gabinetów osobliwości, której odpowiednikiem w przypadku rzeczywistości książkowej staje się swoista, odzwierciedlająca kierunek lektury Bibliotheca Curiosa, jak i Tuwimowska zasada cicer cum caule, określająca podstawę stworzonej przez poetę kolekcji „niepotrzebnych wiadomości”.
    This article is an analysis of Wisława Szymborska’s style of reading used by the poet in her quasi-reviews collected in Lektury nadobowiązkowe [Non-compulsory readings]. The ludic poetics of the book is closely related to the author’s inclination towards curiosity and nonsense humour which expresses her typical “sense of oddness”. The aim of the reading is thus to reveal in radically diverse texts (a floristic compendium or a popular guidebook How to live more comfortably side by side with Montaigne’s Essays or Nietzsche’s Aphorisms) some uncommon details, humorous paradoxes and unexpected facts and incidents. Szymborska’s way of reading, animated by the spirit of a sophisticated play, has also its source in the historic concept of cabinets of curiosities, reflected here in the Bibliotheca Curiosa as well as in Julian Tuwim’s device cicer cum caule structuring his famous collection of “useless knowledge”.

    The European Union is supporting raising competence and the international cooperation of universities by funding partially foreign internships of the teaching staff and students. The EU programme has been functioning from 1987 and from 2007 it also embraces librarians. The article presents the curiosities of the Alpine city of Innsbruck and the course of a foreign internship of an employee of the Lublin Technical University Library in the University and Domestic Library Tyrol in Innsbruck (Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Tirol in Innsbruck). Catalogues and databases are also discussed.
