    The article focuses on the following questions: How do epistemic modality and evidentiality correlate in German and Ukrainian newspaper texts? What forms of expression apply in both linguocultures? What kinds of similarities and differences are observed in their expression in the German and Ukrainian newspaper discourses?
    In dem Beitrag stehen folgende Fragestellungen im Mittelpunkt: In welcher Relation stehen epistemische Modalität und Evidentialität in Pressetexten deutscher und ukrainischer Sprachkulturen zueinander? Wie werden sie in informationsbetonten Textsorten beider Länder zum Ausdruck gebracht? Worin liegen Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede ihrer Ausdrücke in der deutschen und ukrainischen Sprachkultur?
    Zasadniczymi zagadnieniami omawianymi w niniejszym artykule są: w jakiej relacji wzajemnej znajduje się modalność epistemiczna i ewidencjonalność w tekstach prasowych niemieckiej i ukraińskiej kultury językowej, jak są one wyrażane w rodzajach tekstów z dominującą funkcją informacyjną w obydwóch tych krajach, jakie różnice i jakie podobieństwa dają się zaobserwować w ich wyrażaniu w obrębie niemieckiej i ukraińskiej kultury językowej?

    Opis:
    Active processes taking place in all areas of the Russian language during the last decades are most clearly manifested in the language of the media. Among the expressive means of the media language, a special place is held by phraseology, which emphasizes the relevance of the information provided, has a strong emotional effect on readers. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to consider some manifestations of the active processes of phraseology in the Russian-language newspapers of Lithuania. The study material is the weekly “Литовский курьер” (“Lithuanian Courier”), “Обзор” (“Review”), “Экспресс-неделя” (“Express Week”). The active processes of phraseology, characteristic for the journalistic style of the modern Russian language, are specifically reflected in the language of the newspapers analysed. The regional specific features of these processes are associated with the activity of use and the specifics of the functioning of phraseological units in newspaper texts, their structural-typological, stylistic features, expressiveness and expression of the author’s appraisal.

    Opis:
    What is the concept of the ‘commentary’ text type in media such as newspapers, radio or television? How often do commentaries appear? How are they marked as commentaries? And how can they be distinguished from other, neighbouring text types such as editorials, squibs, columns or guest comments? This paper tries to find an answer, drawing on definitions and descriptions found in publications from the domain of communication and media sciences as well as text linguistics. It also deals with some expansions of the textual model of the commentary, and the usage of this type of texts in the media serving various discourse communities. Finally, the Author presents a project involving contrastive analysis of commentaries in different media from several European countries, focusing attention on formulating a tertium comparationis that would be suitable for the comparison of media text types.
    Was ist eigentlich unter der Textsorte ‚Kommentar‘ in Zeitungen, im Hörfunk und Fernsehen zu verstehen, wie häufig kommen sie vor, wie sind sie als solche gekennzeichnet, und wie lassen sich Kommentare von anderen, benachbarten Textsorten wie Leitartikeln, Glossen, Kolumnen und Gastbeiträgen abgrenzen? Eine Antwort auf diese Fragen wird unter Einbeziehung entsprechender Definitionen und Beschreibungen in publizistischen und textlinguistischen Arbeiten gesucht. Dabei wird auch auf aktuelle Erweiterungen des Kommentarmusters und auf den Gebrauch der Textsorte in verschiedenen Ländern eingegangen. Im Zusammenhang mit dem abschließend erläuterten Vorhaben einer kontrastiven Analyse des Kommentars in diversen Medien verschiedener europäischer Länder rückt die Frage nach dem tertium comparationis des medialen Textsortenvergleichs in den Mittelpunkt der Darstellung.

    Celem artykułu jest omówienie dwu różnych gatunków siedemnastowiecznych pism ulotnych, które przez badacza początków prasy polskiej — Konrada Zawadzkiego, zaliczone zostały do wspólnej grupy tak zwanych „gazet ulotnych”. Autorka artykułu wśród owych pism wyróżnia obszerne traktaty moralistyczne cechujące się staranną kompozycją, rozbudowaniem wątków opisowych i dydaktycznych oraz dominacją funkcji informacyjno-dydaktycznej przekazu. Obok nich w siedemnastym stuleciu tłoczone były niewielkiej objętości gazetki, których autorzy i wydawcy — nastawieni na komercyjność druku — usiłowali zaskoczyć odbiorcę, zadziwić go sensacyjnością przedstawianych wątków (stąd dominacja funkcji ekspresywnej takiego przekazu), dydaktykę spychając nierzadko na dalszy plan. Te krótkie „gazetki” różniły się znacznie od traktatów dydaktycznych formą przekazu: zamiast obszernych pouczeń moralistycznych i opisów treść bywała wyrażana za pomocą techniki enumeracji i kumulacji wielu szkicowo zarysowanych obrazów, odwołujących się do wyobraźni i emocji odbiorcy.
    The author’s objective is to discuss two different genres of the seventeenth century ephemeral papers which Konrad Zawadzki, the researcher of the origins of the Polish press, has included in a common group of so called “ephemeral newspapers”. The author of the article distinguishes, among those texts, extensive moralistic treatises, characterised by painstaking composition, expanded descriptive and instructive plots and domination of informative and didactic functions. In the seventeenth century, side by side with them the papers of small volume were printed and their authors and publishers were focussed on obtaining commercial goals. They differed a lot from didactic treatises with the form of communication: the content was often expressed through the technique of enumeration and accumulation of many sketches, appealing to the recipient’s imagination and emotions.
