Background. Supply chains are becoming more and more complex systems. This results mainly from the development of network relations at individual stages of value adding. The development of relations in supply chains by network relations created at individual stages of the supply chain is an essential dimension of the configuration of the supply chain. Network relations can be both on the level of distribution and production or supply. Research aims. The aim of the paper is to propose a methodology for appointing the climate of cooperation and connecting the climate of cooperation with the configuration of a supply chain. The detailed aim resulting from the purposeful selection of the supply chain is to indicate key determinants of the configuration of the supply chain of metallurgical products. Methodology. Authors identified determinants of the configuration of the supply chain. Authors defined the climate of cooperation and showed the methodology of appointing him. In supply chains of metallurgical products, a questionnaire with the questionnaire survey method was used to explore the determinants of formation of network relations. Key findings. Determinants rated as stimulators and destimulators appoint the climate of cooperation in a network. Authors indicates variants of configuration of a network supply chain of metallurgical products underlining the key determinants.

The aim of the article is to indicate directions of dependence within the relationships between company and its clients and suppliers based on the sources of power in different relationships. Details about the specificity of functioning of the analyzed name were collected in the course of eight interviews conducted with owners of the furniture enterprise and with their suppliers. In the result of research such sources of the power as the volume of trade, the promptness, costs and the quality of supplies, obliging arising from agreements, the availability of substitutes of produced products, the access to alternative raw materials, investments and possibilities of changing and costs associated with it have been identified.
Celem artykułu jest wskazanie kierunków zależności w relacjach przedsiębiorstwa z klientami i dostawcami, w oparciu o źródła władzy w poszczególnych relacjach. Dane o specyfice funkcjonowania analizowanej firmy zostały zebrane w trakcie ośmiu wywiadów po-głębionych, przeprowadzonych z właścicielami przedsiębiorstwa meblarskiego oraz ich dostawcami. W rezultacie badań zidentyfikowano takie źródła władzy, jak wielkość sprzedaży, terminowość, koszty i jakość dostaw, zobowiązania wynikające z umów, dostępność substytutów produkowanych wyrobów, dostęp do alternatywnych surowców, inwestycje oraz możliwości dokonania zmian i koszty z tym związane.

Współczesne organizacje osadzone są w uwarunkowania biznesowe, które ulegają szybkim przemianom. Obecnie nie można rozpatrywać działalności poszczególnych przedsiębiorstw czy organizacji w oderwaniu od ich środowiska a zwłaszcza relacji i powiązań z innymi partnerami. Odzwiercie-dleniem tych przemian jest tworzenie się przedsiębiorstw sieciowych, które ułatwiają efektywną współpracę w celu osiągania lepszych wspólnych efektów. Nie bez znaczenia, w tym aspekcie, pozostaje rozwój technologii tele-informatycznych przynosząc bardziej efektywne sposoby zarządzania wiedzą i jej wymiany. Ideą działania w ramach sieci przedsiębiorstw jest próba budowania efektywnych sieci kontaktów i kontraktów na gruncie formalnych i nie formalnych powiązań będących źródłem innowacji. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie zagadnień powiązanych z pojęciem przedsiębiorstw sieciowych, opisanie istoty tworzenia i działania przedsiębiorstw sieciowych oraz opisanie architektury sieci i znaczenia zaufania w relacjach między uczestnikami sieci z wykorzystaniem analizy wybranych pozycji literaturowych.
Contemporary organizations are embedded in business conditions that are rapidly changing. At present, the activities of individual companies or organizations can not be considered in isolation from their environment, especially relations and connections with other partners. A reflection of these changes is the creation of network enterprises that facilitate effective cooperation in order to achieve better joint effects. It is not without significance, in this aspect, the development of IT technologies, bringing more effective ways of knowledge management and its exchange. The idea of operating within the network of enterprises is an attempt to build effective networks of contacts and contracts on the basis of formal and non-formal connections that are a source of innovation. The aim of the article is to familiarize with issues related to the concept of network enterprises, describe the nature of creation and operation of network enterprises and describe the architecture of the network and the importance of trust in relations between network participants using the analysis of selected literature items.

This paper presents analysis of connections between institutional participants of crossborder cooperation Poland and German for example selected projects of the European Territorial Cooperation 2007–2013. The relations were analysed in the context of the social capital concept (Pierre Bourdieu, Ronald Burt, James Coleman, Robert Putnam, Nan Lin) using basic network indexes: density and centrality of the network, degree of the nodes, amounts of bridges and brokers. Authors described the structure and dynamics of relations on the borderland between Poland and Germany, and the position of nodes in network.

The main scientific purpose of this article is to identify how organizations maximize benefits from network relations in highly unpredictable environments, including both operational and strategic perspectives of network collaboration. The study is designed to deepen our knowledge about the nature of inter-organizational networks, and our understanding of the dynamics of relations between actors and the possibilities of exploiting networks in order to maximize benefit (network and relational rent). The research was carried out using the interpretative method of a multiple case study, following methodological rigor. It was divided into two stages: case-study analysis and cross-case analysis. The research shows that in highly unpredictable environments, when  organizations have to face sudden and considerable unfavourable changes in operating conditions, they intensify relations’ features and at the same time modify expected benefits (including both operational and strategic perspective). The results allow for the identifying a pattern which shows how organizations modify the intensity of network-relation features in order to gain established benefits. The template serves as a tool for practitioners who can use it in planning and developing interactions with other members of networks (knots).
Głównym celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie, w jaki sposób organizacje maksymalizują korzyści z relacji sieciowych w wysoce nieprzewidywalnym otoczeniu, uwzględniając zarówno operacyjną, jak i strategiczną perspektywę współpracy sieciowej. Przedstawione wyniki badań służą pogłębieniu wiedzy na temat natury sieci międzyorganizacyjnych, zrozumieniu dynamiki relacji zachodzących pomiędzy aktorami oraz możliwości wykorzystania sieci w celu maksymalizowania korzyści (osiągania renty sieciowej i relacyjnej). Badania przeprowadzono wykorzystując interpretatywną metodę wielokrotnego studium przypadku, podporządkowując się jej rygorowi metodologicznemu. Badania podzielono na dwa etapy: indywidualne studium przypadku oraz porównania krzyżowe. Wyniki wskazują, że w wysoce nieprzewidywalnym otoczeniu, gdy pojawiają się nagłe i niekorzystne zmiany w warunkach funkcjonowania, organizacje intensyfikują relacje sieciowe, jednocześnie modyfikując oczekiwane korzyści (zarówno w operacyjnej, jak i strategicznej perspektywie). Możliwe stało się zidentyfikowanie wzorca ukazującego, w jaki sposób organizacje modyfikują stopień występowania cech relacji sieciowych, aby osiągnąć założone korzyści. Może on posłużyć menedżerom jako narzędzie wspomagające planowanie i rozwój interakcji z pozostałymi uczestnikami sieci.

Konfiguracja sieci obejmuje wiele aspektów związanych z rozmieszczeniem węzłów, modelami biznesu współpracujących organizacji, a także z modelami kształtowanych relacji. Decyzje o nawiązywaniu relacji sieciowych natomiast uzależnione są od czynników endogenicznych oraz egzogenicznych (klimatu kooperacji). Celem artykułu było badanie wpływu klimatu kooperacji na konfigurację sieci, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem modeli współdziałania.
The network configuration includes the row of aspects associated with location of the organizations, business models of cooperating organizations and relations models. Decisions on the structure of the relation depend on exogenous and endogenous factors (climate of cooperation). It was a purpose of the article examination of the impact of the climate of cooperation to the network configuration with particular reference to of models of the cooperation.

Parki naukowo-technologiczne stanowią istotne węzły w regionalnych i krajowych systemach innowacji. Ze względu na swoją szczególną rolę w tych systemach są przykładem organizacji opartej na wiedzy, dla której szczególnym zasobem jest usieciowienie rozumiane jako wzajemne przepływy wiedzy, współpraca w projektach, przekazywanie sobie klientów oraz relacje nieformalne. Celem artykułu było zbadanie relacji sieciowych między pracownikami jednego z polskich parków technologicznych jako elementu analizy strategicznej identyfikującej kluczowe wyzwania dla rozwoju organizacji po zmniejszeniu finansowania publicznego. Obszarem szczególnego zainteresowania były przepływy informacji w kontekście ich liczby i intensywności, będące podstawą skutecznej realizacji usług transferu technologii oraz wspierania procesów innowacyjnych. Przepływy informacji, zgodnie z ich rozumieniem w naukach informatycznych (sekwencja dane–informacja–wiedza), stanowią element wiedzy i w niniejszym artykule są traktowane jako jej przybliżenie. Jest to uzasadnione faktem, że badano pracowników organizacji o wysokich kompetencjach i zasobie wiedzy skodyfikowanej i nieskodyfikowanej, których poproszono o koncentrację na informacjach istotnych z punktu widzenia ich pracy w parku naukowo-technologicznym. Wyniki badań zrealizowanych metodą SNA pozwoliły na identyfikację osób będących węzłami wiedzy w organizacji z perspektywy zarówno dostawców, jak i odbiorców informacji. Są to osoby, które już pełnią lub są predestynowane do pełnienia funkcji zarządczych lub kierowniczych, a ich relacje z pracownikami powiązanymi z nimi w klastry wiedzy mogą być podstawą reorganizacji.
Science and technology parks are important nodes in regional and national innovation systems. Because of this role, they are an example of knowledge-based organizations, for which being networked, understood as flows of information, project and client-service cooperation and informal flows such as trust, becomes a valuable asset. The objective of this article was to analyze network relations between the employees of one of Polish science and technology parks as a part of a strategic analysis aimed at identifying key challenges for this organization after the predicted diminishing of available public grants. The point of special interest was information flows in the context of their number and intensity (width and depth of the network) that are a basis for efficient knowledge-transfer and innovation services for clients. In this article, according to the ICT science, information flows are treated as a part of knowledge (data-information-knowledge sequence) and its proxy. The rationale for such a decision is the fact that a group of highly competent employees, with significant levels of both codified and tacit knowledge, was analyzed. Moreover, they were asked to focus on information significant from the point of view of their work in the science and technology park. The results achieved by application of the SNA method allowed the identification of employees who are knowledge nodes, both in the perspective of senders and recipients of information. They are already in or should be appointed to managerial positions in the organization and their relations with other employees grouped with them in knowledge clusters can be a basis for reorganization.

The main purpose of the paper is to present and comment about word interpretation issues in the field of management science. In the first part of the ongoing paper, the authors focus on describing characteristic meanings and classifications of relations within the network concept, at the same time expressing critical views of some common interpretations and misunderstandings. Subsequently they analyze and critique the new classification system of scientific fields and managerial disciplines, implemented on the 1st of October 2018 in Poland.
Głównym celem artykułu jest ukazanie i odniesienie się do obecnie szeroko dyskutowanych problemów interpretacyjnych w nazewnictwie proponowanym w naukach o zarządzaniu. W części pierwszej autorzy skoncentrowali się na scharakteryzowaniu znaczeń i klasyfikacji relacji międzyorganizacyjnych w ramach koncepcji sieciowej, jednocześnie wyrażając krytyczne poglądy dotyczące niektórych interpretacji. W dalszej części rozważania te odniesiono do podstaw teoretycznych, skupiając się na analizie poprawności nowej klasyfikacji dziedzin nauki i dyscyplin naukowych obowiązujących w Polsce od dnia 1 października 2018 roku.

This paper proposes a relational abstraction for Wireless Sensors Network where node can identify its neighbors around it. Because of limited radio link range only some of nodes have a direct contact with the base station and transmission is carried out in a multihop way so information is send from one node to another towards the BS. We propose a relation π that represents cooperation between nodes and takes advantages of topological properties of the network. Based on the hop-distance from the BS any node k can determine a set N<(k) that consists of nodes to which k should send messages in order to retain a data-flow direction towards the BS.

For public relations officers the last years were momentous. Changes in the surrounding life dictated also changes in the public relations (PR) practice. The birth of a so-called network society was signifi cant not only for different information technology and computer-related professions, but also for communication science, including public relations, from a larger perspective. Talking about public relations we are mostly talking about managing communication and about relations born as a result of the managed communication flow. From a historical perspective communication and relations management means quite often a kind of use of power. At this point the existential question today is — how to manage communication and relations in the new situation — in the society which is guided by social networks where power is not always at the “top” of hierarchy anymore, but is “down” in the networks. Who has power, and who and how will control communication processes in the society of “mass self-communicators” (Castells, 2007), which is designed and created by authors who are writing and expressing their ideas through social media, using their right of speech more than ever and which is no longer easily controlled and managed by others — authorities, press officers, public relations managers, censors, etc.

Visual methods are reported to have certain advantages when conducting interviews on sensitive topics, such as intimate spaces, home-related ethical issues, and vulnerable families. In this article, we concentrate on two visual methods: social network maps and life-lines. In our research project on children’s well-being and emotional security in multiple family relations, we collected data by interviewing children and asking them to complete social network maps and life-lines. We discuss the suitability of these two visual methods for describing children’s close relationships with their family members and significant others. Combining these two methods during an interview process with children has not very often been tested. It is thus argued that these particular methods help a child to explain his or her family relations and life events. For the researcher interested in studying challenging and complex family relations, they can be extremely useful tools.
