Opis:
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is seen as the most promising networking technology today. The spread of a new technology depends on the acceptance of the engineers implementing the networks. Typically, when engineers start the conceptualization of new network devices that work with a new paradigm, and that should provide expected business values, they must identify and utilize technical enablers for the defined business use cases. This paper tries to summarize essential SDN applications and defines the technical enablers for advanced and efficient SDN networking. To this end, we identify the core technical mechanisms, expecting to provide a useful analysis for the design of new SDN networks.

Opis:
Aiming at the challenges to the accurate and stable heading control of underactuated unmanned surface vehicles arising from the nonlinear interference caused by the overlay and the interaction of multi interference, and also the uncertainties of model parameters, a heading control algorithm for an underactuated unmanned surface vehicle based on an improved backpropagation neural network is proposed. Based on applying optimization theory to realize that the underactuated unmanned surface vehicle tracks the desired yaw angle and maintains it, the improved momentum of weight is combined with an improved tracking differentiator to improve the robustness of the system and the dynamic property of the control. A hyperbolic tangent function is used to establish the nonlinear mappings an approximate method is adopted to summarize the general mathematical expressions, and the gradient descent method is applied to ensure the convergence. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has the advantages of strong robustness, strong anti-interference and high control accuracy. Compared with two commonly used heading control algorithms, the accuracy of the heading control in the complex environment of the proposed algorithm is improved by more than 50%.

Opis:
Continuous development of intelligent network applications drives the demand for deployment-ready hardware and software solutions. Such solutions are highly valued not only by distributed producers of energy but by energy consumers as well. The use of intelligent network applications enables the development and improvement of the quality of services. It also increases self-sufficiency and efficiency. This paper describes an example of such device that allows for the control of a dual active bridge (DAB) converter and enables its remote control in real time over an IP-based network. The details of both hardware and software components of proposed implementation are provided. The DAB converter gives a possibility to control and manage the energy between two DC power systems with very different voltage levels. Not only information, but also the quality of energy, the direction of power flow, and energy storage systems can be easily controlled through an IP-based network and power electronics converters. Information technology, together with intelligent control of power electronics technology, provides a flexible solution, especially for sustainable smart grids.

Opis:
The Controller Area Network (CAN) bus standard was developed in the 1980s and is in widespread use in automobile, vehicular, aviation, and other networks. The CAN bus was introduced in the maritime environment with the adoption of the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) 2000 standard in the late-1990s. Many papers have been written about the CAN bus protocols and security vulnerabilities but there is sparse literature about use of the CAN bus in the maritime environment. Part I of this paper is a technical overview, describing CAN bus standards and operation, with particular attention to its use with the NMEA 2000 maritime communications standard. Part II of this paper describes security vulnerabilities in terms of loss of confidentiality, integrity, or availability of information (such as eavesdropping, denial-of-service, and spoofing), and mitigations specific to the maritime environment.

The network system of data exchange between the various components is an inherent element of every car. Because of the specific and different requirements for data transfer between specific devices, currently used communication protocols have different properties of performance, security, and degree of determinism. The paper presents the increasing complexity of the data exchange system based on the example of the latest requirements for digital tachographs. The article describes also the data transmission initialization methods in the context of network data exchange organization. The hybrid use of time triggering and event triggering mechanisms has been presented in relation to the operation of the CAN network under increased real-time conditions requirements implemented as TTCAN (time triggered CAN).

Opis:
This paper describes a discrete adaptive state feedback controller used to load current control in terms of variable DC voltage of inverter. Controller was designed by using linear quadratic optimization method. Adaptive LQR was used because of non-stationarity of the control system caused by Voltage Matching Circuit - VMC. Gain values of the adaptive controller were approximated by using an artificial neural network. The VMC was realized as an additional buck converter integrated with the main inverter. As the load of the 2-level inverter a 3-phase symmetric RL circuit was used. Simulation tests show the behavior of the load current regulation during DC bus voltage level step changes. The dependence between current RMS value and inverter DC bus voltage level was also shown. Simulation test was made by using Matlab Simulink and PLECS software.

Opis:
This paper focuses on designing a gain-scheduled (G-S) state feedback controller (SFC) for synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) speed control with non-linear inductance characteristics. The augmented model of the drive with additional state variables is introduced to assure precise control of selected state variables (i.e. angular speed and d-axis current). Optimal, non-constant coefficients of the controller are calculated using a linear-quadratic optimisation method. Non-constant coefficients are approximated using an artificial neural network (ANN) to assure superior accuracy and relatively low usage of resources during implementation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time when ANN-based gain-scheduled state feedback controller (G-S SFC) is applied for speed control of SynRM. Based on numerous simulation tests, including a comparison with a signum-based SFC, it is shown that the proposed solution assures good dynamical behaviour of SynRM drive and robustness against q-axis inductance, the moment of inertia and viscous friction fluctuations.

Opis:
This research presents a combination of artificial neural network (ANN) with the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) to improve the power quality of a grid-connected distributed power generation system (DPGS). To assess the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a grid-tied of small-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) is chosen. The term power quality refers to voltage and frequency regulation, and limited harmonics. Power quality improvement is achieved through the cascaded control system's optimal tuning of three proportional-integral (PI) controllers of the grid-side inverter (GSI). However, because the DPGS model is computationally costly, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model is utilized as an alternative model for DPGS. Furthermore, the ANN model is employed in conjunction with the GWO to boost the optimization precision and minimize the execution time of GWO. The considered power system was repetitively simulated to obtain the input-output datasets, which validate and train the ANN model. According to the ANN model's performance evaluation, the correlation coefficient (R) is close to one, while the mean squared error (MSE) is near zero. These findings demonstrate the ANN model's great accuracy in approximating the DPGS model. Using MATLAB/Simulink, the system's performance is evaluated using the optimum values obtained using GWO-ANN for various wind speed profiles. It showed the suggested power quality method’s improved stability, convergence behavior, the effectiveness of the control mechanism, and the robustness of the proposed topology.

Opis:
The paper presents a design of an intelligent controller based on neural network (ICNN). The ICNN ensures at the same time two fundamental functions: the maintaining of generator voltage at the desired value and the damping of the electromechanical oscillations. Its performance is evaluated on a single machine infinite bus power system through computer simulations. The dynamic and transient operation of the proposed controller is compared with the operation of the conventional excitation control system composed of a conventional automatic voltage regulator (CAVR) and a conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS) as recommended in the IEEE standard. The proposed ICNN exhibits better performance.
Dynamiczne działanie proponowanego regulatora porównano z dynamicznym działaniem klasycznego układu regulacji, składającego się z konwencjonalnego regulatora napięcia i konwencjonalnego stabilizatora systemowego - zgodnie z zaleceniami standardu IEEE.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań opóźnień rozpoczęcia i zakończenia transmisji w doświadczalnej sieci Packet Radio, uzyskane przy użyciu różnych typów kontrolerów TNC. Wyniki te skonfrontowano z wynikami obliczeń z wykorzystaniem wprowadzonego wcześniej analitycznego modelu kontrolera TNC. Przedstawione rozważania mogą posłużyć do oceny możliwości zastosowania kontrolerów TNC w określonych aplikacjach uwarunkowanych czasowo.
TNC controllers are microprocessor-based circuits used as network adapters for amateur Packet Radio network. They can, however, be used in other applications, e.g., remote control or telemetry. In such applications, it is often necessary to estimate transmission delays. This paper briefly presents the previously developed analytical model that allows estimating delays of transmission start and end. Calculation results obtained with this model are used as a reference point for results obtained in an experimental Packet Radio network using various types of TNC controllers. These results clearly show that the processing power of the TNC controller microprocessor has great influence on the aforementioned transmission delays. How-ever, detailed analysis of the results shows that software-dependent protocol implementation issues also influence network achievements. Thus, it requires further research using a common hardware platform with various types and versions of the software. The presented considerations can help in analysis of TNC controller application possibilities in certain time-bounded applications.
