Opis:
The paper presents a set of soŌware tools dedicated to support mobile robot navigaƟon. The tools are used to process an image from a depth sensor. They are implemented in ROS framework and they are compaƟble with standard ROS navigaƟon packages. The soŌware is released with an open source licence. First of the tools converts a 3D depth image to a 2D scan in polar coordinates. It provides projecƟon of the obstacles, removes the ground plane from the image and compensates sensor Ɵlt angle. The node is faster than the standard node within ROS and it has addiƟonal funcƟons increasing range of possible applicaƟons. The second tool allows detecƟon of negaƟve obstacles i.e. located below the ground plane level. The third tool esƟmates height and orientaƟon of the sensor with RANSAC algorithm applied to the depth image. The paper presents also the results of usage of the tools with mobile plaƞorms equipped with MicrosoŌ Kinect sensors. The plaƞorms are elements of the ReMeDi project within which the soŌware was developed.

Opis:
The current systems supporting navigation on board of ships are built on the classic concept for equipment: The system is developed, tested, type approved, installed and from that time on used with no or little modifications. Looking at other industries a regime of software and system maintenance has been established which allows more rapid updates. The development in the IT arena moves more towards modular approached, encapsulating individual components for easier implementation and delivery with limited system wide impact. This key concept is lately often referred to as the “app concept”. The e-Navigation development asks for exactly that: a way to improve innovation while ensuring system stability for the navigational components used by the navigator on the bridge. A key aspect of the success of new systems will be the ability to convert data into as information as needed in any given situation, creating knowledge for intelligent decisions increasing the competence of a navigator. The paper will focus on the following topics: – The classic “monolithic” Equipment paradigm – Modern System Architecture using components and “apps”-concept – Advantages of an approach using situational driven tool enhancements – The “app”-concept supporting the situational centric information presentation.

Opis:
The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its 81st session decided to include, in the work programmes of the NAV and COMSAR Sub-Committees, a high priority item on "Development of an e–navigation strategy”. E-navigation is meant to integrate existing and new electronic navigational tools (ship and shore based) into one comprehensive system that will contribute to enhanced navigational safety and security while reducing the workload of the mariner (navigator). This paper describes present IT created to support navigational and administrative activities related to vessel movement and cargo transhipment. Direction of development of existing systems is drafted with reference to E-Navigation concept. Information sets available for the vessel in Polish Sea Areas are grouped.
