Opis:: Solanaceous plants have a great economic impact in Egypt. These groups of plants include potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants. The new invasive pest of tomatoes, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) causes the greatest crop losses which can range from 60 to 100%. After its detection in Egypt during the last half of 2009, it spread quickly to all provinces in the country. We aiming to propose a sustainable control program for this devastating pest. In this research we tested three groups of control agents. The first was microbial and natural, the second – plant extracts and the third – chemical insecticides. Our results showed that the impact of T. absoluta can be greatly reduced by the use of sustainable control measures represented by different insecticide groups. Bioassay experiments showed that this devastating pest can be controlled with some compounds that give high mortality rates. Of these compounds, spinosad and Beauveria bassiana, microbial control agents, followed by azadirachtin, gave the best results in controlling T. absoluta. Of the chemical insecticides, lambda-cyhalotrin was the most effective, followed by lufenuron and profenofos. In conclusion we encourage farmers to use microbial and natural control measures in combating the tomato leafminer, T. absoluta, in Integrated Pest Mangement (IPM) programs.

Opis:: Visual chromatography has been employed for a preliminary identification of natural compound of a group of sesquiterpene lactones – Centaurea bella Trautv., C. crocodylium L., C. lusitanica Boiss. et Reuter, Helenium hoopesii A. Gray = Dugaldia hoopesii (A. Gray) Rydb., Stizolophus balsamita (Lam.) Cass., Zoegea baldschuanica C. Winkl., germacranes – Santolina pinnata Viv. subsp. neapolitana (Jord. et Fourr.) Guinea = S. neapolitana Jord. et Fourr. A dependence of the colour of the spots, induced by anisaldehyde reagent, on the presence of several substituents in the germacranolide ring – derivatives of partnenolide and salonitenolide – has been identified. The structures of the skeleton in the ring of sesquiterpene lactones in Helenium hoopesii can also be established by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The analysis of the chromatograms of extracts from dry and fresh Centaurea crocodylium herb has shown significant differences as for the chemical composition. Two sorts of germacranes of Santolina pinnata subsp. neapolitana display a characteristic colour of the spots.

Opis:: The paper presents the main natural and anthropogenic sources of sulfur compounds, the proportion of these compounds in natural fuels and their emission to the aerosphere. Particular attention was paid to conditions of photochemical and catalytic oxidation in the air, as well as the behavior of sulfur compounds in the aerosphere. The transformations of sulfur compounds and their reactions with other compounds or elements contribute to air pollution, including the formation of tropospheric ozone and acid rains.
Praca zawiera opis głównych, naturalnych i antropogenicznych źródeł związków siarki, zawartości takich związków w paliwach naturalnych i emisji atmosferycznych pochodzących ze spalania tych paliw. Szczególną uwagę skierowano na warunki fotochemicznego i katalizowanego utleniania siarki w powietrzu oraz zachowanie się związków siarki w atmosferze. Przemiany chemiczne związków siarki oraz ich reakcje z innymi związkami lub pierwiastkami powodują zwiększone zanieczyszczenie powietrza, łącznie z takimi zjawiskami jak tworzenie się ozonu w troposferze oraz powstawanie kwaśnych deszczy.

Opis:: The influence of prestressing and bending rigidity distribution between rods of a non-linear column on its natural vibrations and stability is studied. The perturbation method is used for solving the problem. Regions of divergence and flutter instabilities for a column have been determined on the basis of courses of eigencurves as a function of bending rigidity ratio and prestress rate. Discontinuities of the critical force have been observed for certain values of the investigated parameters leading to instability of the column, even for small values of the external load. Although each prestress reduces the critical force, it can be applied to passive vibration control.
W pracy zbadano wpływ wstępnego sprężania i asymetrii rozkładu sztywności na zginanie między prętami geometrycznie nieliniowej kolumny dwuprętowej na drgania takiego układu. Do rozwiązania zagadnienia zastosowano metodę małego parametru. Wyznaczono obszary niestateczności dywergencyjnej i fluterowej na podstawie przebiegów krzywych wartości własnych w odniesieniu do relacjimiędzy sztywnościami i stopniem sprężenia. Zaobserwowano skokowe zmiany wartości siły krytycznej dla pewnych wartości obu parametrów prowadzące do niestateczności układu przy niewielkiej sile zewnętrznej. Mimo tego, że każde wstępne sprężenie obniża wartość siły krytycznej, może być wprowadzane w celu pasywnej kontroli częstości drgań.

Opis:: The present review deals with the bioactive compounds of the marine non-chordates. The potent medicinal usage of the bioactive compounds viz. steroids, terpenoids, isoprenoid and non-isoprenoid compounds, quinones, brominated compounds, nitrogen heterocyclics and nitrogen-sulphur heterocyclics from marine non-chordates have been compiled. Various literatures survey revealed that the bioactive compounds isolated in recent past from the marine poriferans, cnidarians, annelids, arthropods, molluscs and echinoderms could be rich sources of therapeutic agents having antibacterial, antiinflamatory, anticarcinogenic properties. In overall, the present study will be benefitted to know global drug discovery researches on bioactive compounds from marine organisms for students, scholars, scientists, pharmaceutical sector, and government regulating authorities as new challenging technology in clinical applications through medicines.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono badania laboratoryjne zmian stężenia związków azotu amonowego, azotu azotanowego(V) i fosforanów w wodach naturalnych w wyniku zastosowania herbicydu Aspect 500 SC i mieszanin herbicydu z adiuwantami Adpros 85 SL, Olejan 85 EC oraz Break-Thru S 240. Stwierdzono, że analizowane mieszaniny odmiennie wpłynęły na stężenia związków azotu i fosforu. Przemiany związków azotu zależały od składu chemicznego wód oraz zastosowanych prób preparatu i adiuwantów. Odnotowane zmiany stężenia fosforanów wykazywały głównie tendencję spadkową. Surfaktant Break-Thru w mieszaninie z herbicydem hamował proces nitryfikacji we wszystkich wodach, natomiast adiuwanty Adpros 85 SL i Olejan 85 EC przyspieszyły procesy przemian form azotu w wodzie 2 i 3.
The work presents results of the investigation on changes of concentration of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate(V) nitrogen and phosphates in the surface waters in the present of formulation Aspect 500 SC and the mixture of adjuvants (Break-Thru S 240, Adpros 85 SL, Olejan 85 EC) with herbicide. The analyses show that chemicals in different way influence the concentrations of N and P compounds. The transformations of nitrogen compounds depended on the chemical composition of waters and tested combination. The results of this study indicate that the concentration of phosphates decreased. The nitrification process was inhibited by the surfactant Break-Thru S 240 in the mixture with herbicide in all waters, but was accelerated by Olejan 85 EC and Adpros 85 SL only in water 2 and 3.
