    The essay introduces an approach called the semiotics of tobacco by analyzing one narrative poem. The analyzed poem is Fänrik Stål (1848) by Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland. Fänrik Stål is traditionally considered nationalistic and patriotic. When analyzed in the context of semiotic of tobacco, the traditional way to interpret it is challenged. In the end, this case analysis of Finnish literature is used as an example of broader problems in representing tobacco in literature in order to establish the approach of the semiotics of tobacco.

    The following article describes a phenomenon of the correspondence of arts using the works of Frederic Chopin and Alexander Scriabin as an example. The author is interested in the relations between music and literature and Chopin’s ballads and Scriabin’s piano poems, the genres, which are an effect of such relations. The analysis of those works shows that both composers have a different understanding of the essence of music and literature but there are also similarities. The ballads and poems do not convey a literary programme or music il¬lustration but their sound matter is additionally complemented by the genre category, title or commentary instead.

    The article is dedicated to description of proper names functions in chosen narrative poem of Passion literature of Polish Baroque. Analyzed proper names in Pamiątka krwawej ofiary Pana Zbawiciela naszego Jezusa Chrystusa (1610) by Abraham Rożniatowski are mainly connected with metaphysical sphere of culture, majority of them is conventional, primarily drawn from Bible. The main function of proper names is to describe the Passion in influential way and to show the people how grievous and savage it was. The onomastic field of the narrative poem is strictly related to religious cult of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska popular in Poland in Baroque times.

    The article considers circumstances contributing to the readership success of the Polish translation of The Goffredo… The author advances a thesis that the narrative poem in question met the expectations of Polish audience having been previously kindled not so much by Andrzej Kochanowski’s translation of The Aeneid, but rather by Polonized versions of mediaeval chivalric romances (Historja o cesarzu Otonie, Historia o Magielonie, Historia wdzięczna […] o Meluzynie). They gave the Polish readers their first chance to acquaint themselves with high chivalric culture, adventures of valiant knights, and their love affairs. After their publications in the 1560s, it was not until a half of century later that readers had a chance to enjoy a piece of literary work with a similar theme, that is The Goffredo… The success of the latter book was partly due to the precedence of particular literary pieces.

W analizowanym poemacie symboliczny, motywowany wolnomularskim światopoglądem podtekst opowieści o rywalizacji mieszkanek Olimpu o miano najpiękniejszej, objaśnia istotę masońskiej koncepcji złotego wieku, opartej na wszechpotędze piękna (miłości) harmonii siły (władzy) i mądrości. Parys, przyjmując dar Wenus, ulega ułomnej zmysłowości, niweczy harmonię świata i pogrąża go w chaosie.
    Myth, understood as allegory or an expression of human emotions, continuously redefines its content in the changing cultural context. In the poem analyzed here, the subtext of the narrative about the contest among the three goddesses of Olympus for the title of ‘the fairest’ is motivated by the Masonic worldview and serves explaining the Masonic concept of the Golden Age, based on the prevailing power of beauty (love), and harmony of force (power) and wisdom. Paris, by accepting the gift from Venus, yields to the imperfect sensuality and thus destroys the harmony of the world and engulfs it in chaos.

    U radu problematizujemo prisustvo poeme u nastavnim programima predmeta Srpski jezik u višim razredima osnovnih škola. Nastojimo da ukažemo na činjenicu da se pomenuti žanr sagledava kao metodički izazov koji se lakše prenebegava izostavljanjem iz programa usled brojnih metodičkih i književnoteorijskih problema koji stvara. U radu se, na tragu književnoteorijskih saznanja o poemi, prati njena zastupljenost u sadašnjim i prošlim nastavnim programima, sa ciljem da se pronađu konstruktivna rešenja u njenom nastavnom implementiranju, ali ukaže i na potencijalna ograničenja i metodičke izazove koje ovaj žanr u nastavnoj situaciji stvara.
    The main problem dealt with in this essay is the presence of narrative poems in the Serbian language syllabus in the elementary school upper grades. Primarily, we strive to point to the fact that the aforementioned genre is deemed as a methodological challenge and consequently left out of the syllabus due to the numerous problems it creates in methodology and literary theory. In the essay, following the literary theory notions on narrative poems, we aim to establish the degree of its presence in newer as well as in older syllabuses, hoping to achieve constructive solutions for its implementation in the syllabus. Simultaneously, we are trying to specify the potential limitations and methodological challenges this genre may create in any teaching situation.

    The purpose of my article is to demonstrate the efficiency of the educational enumerated-repetitive or infantile model of poem, which is characteristic for paideia aimed at repetition (ilinx). It should be noted that the enumerated-repetitive narrative is very efficient and effective for both children fun and pedagogically. The selected paideia poems are primarily for improving a speech act, as well as the efficiency of the language in terms of grammar and vocabulary. Paideia poems fit into the psychophysical condition of perceptive of a child – the world portrayed inspires certain phenomenon or roles (mimicry), and the magical power of words (alea) urges (enslave) for repetitive play (ilinx) and competition in their role or filling (agon), and therefore represent scenarios of spontaneous language learning exercises. The poems of Maria Konopnicka, Julian Tuwim or Jan Brzechwa and contemporary poets such as Ludwik Jerzy Kern, Marcin Brykczyński, Anna Edyk-Psut, Urszula Budkiewicz or Łukasz Dębski are paideia scenarios of articulation exercises enriched by semantic fields, realizes the construction of words, etc. So they are excellent proposition of both fun and education – spontaneous language learning exercises.

Pierwsza dotyczy uznania Litanii Ostrobramskich Stanisława Moniuszki za „muzykę wotywną.” Spełniają one kryteria, m.in.: tytułu utworu, intencji kompozytora, funkcji liturgicznej i symbolicznego atrybutu wotywnego – wprowadzenia do tekstu Litanii loretańskiej nowego wezwania Sancta Mater, odnoszącego się zapewne do Ostrobramskiej Matki Miłosierdzia. Kolejna glosa dotyczy parodii zawartej w poemacie Beniowski Juliusza Słowackiego, z tekstu wiersza Do Ciebie, Panie Józefa Bohdana Zaleskiego. Autor omawia religijną pieśń solową Moniuszki, skomponowaną do tego tekstu. Artykuł kończy krótka glosa odnosząca się krytycznie do badań nad Moniuszką.
    This article consists of three commentaries. The first concerns the recognition of Stanisław Moniuszko’s Litanies of Ostra Brama as “votive music”. These Litanies meet the criteria of having, amongst other things, a title to the piece, the intentions of the composer, a liturgical function and a symbolical votive attribute, namely the introduction of a new invocation titled Sancta Mater, which undoubtedly refers to the Mother of Mercy of Ostra Brama, to the text of the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Another commentary draws attention to the parody contained in the narrative poem Beniowski by Juliusz Słowacki, taken from the text of the poem Do Ciebie, Panie/To You, Lord by Jozef Bohdan Zaleski. The author discusses Moniuszko’s religious solo song, which was specially composed for this text. The article ends with a short commentary related to current research on Moniuszko and the basis for further research.
