    The main aim of this article is to show to what extent social mobility weakens cultural barriers. The findings are based on the results of a study on the stratification of musical tastes conducted in Poland in 2019 on a nationwide random sample. We demonstrate that upwardly mobile individuals adapt more to their status of origin than to their new position. Our results also disconfirm hypotheses concerning the “socialization” of downwardly mobile individuals to the highbrow culture. It shows that individuals moving down are closer to the lower classes in participation in culture as compared to “stayers.” The results suggest an important shift: the upwardly mobile have ceased to translate their occupational success into a more esteemed culture to gain social approval. Respectively, the skidders do not resist the status implications of downward mobility by denying failure and striving to compensate socio-economic degradation with sharing their tastes with their status peers.

    Autorzy zastanawiają się, jak w sytuacji coraz powszechniejszego użytkowania i dostępu do usług strumieniowych, sprawdzają się badania preferencji muzycznych. Dzisiaj, kiedy każdy słuchacz pozostawia bardzo szczegółowe informacje o sobie – tylko korzystając z nowych form dystrybucji muzyki – być może badania preferencji nie są konieczne. Z drugiej strony jednak, tego rodzaju badania mogą odpowiedzieć na pytanie „dlaczego” słucha się konkretnej muzyki, co stanowić będzie jakościowe wskazanie, bardziej precyzyjne niż mapa stworzona przez algorytm. Słuchając strumieniowo, użytkownik tworzy swój własny profil, często nieświadomie, a wszechmocne algorytmy przekształcają go w odpowiednie sugestie muzyczne. Robią to w sposób „dyplomatyczny”, dzięki czemu słuchacz ma poczucie dokonywania autonomicznych wyborów. Warto zatem przyjrzeć się działaniu algorytmów i zagrożeniom jakie ze sobą niosą.
    The authors wonder how, in a situation of increasing use and access to streaming services, music preference research works. Today, when every listener leaves very detailed information about themselves - only using new forms of music distribution - it may not be necessary to study preferences. On the other hand, such research can answer the question "why" the consumer listens to a particular music, which will be a qualitative indication, more precise than the map created by the algorithm. By streaming, the user creates his or her own profile, often unconsciously, and the omnipotent algorithms transform it into appropriate music suggestions. They do this in a "diplomatic" way, making the listener feel like making autonomous choices. It is therefore worthwhile to look at the operation of the algorithms and the risks they pose.

    Human musical aesthetic preferences differ significantly. People vary in this respect depending on culture in which they were brought up and on their individual experiences. The awareness of this differentiation was one of the reasons for which these aesthetic preferences were considered as conditioned only by culture. After cognitive science became interested in art, the aesthetic preferences have been explained by seeing the aesthetic assessment of stimuli as related to the evolutionary sources of human aesthetic tendencies. The contemporary knowledge of music processing by the nervous system and of musical skills development indicates that there are also some ubiquitous tendencies in the aesthetic assessment of music. The purpose of the current paper is to present preferences for tonal music and to explain their origin.

    Opis:
    The article discusses the problem of youth’s musical preferences and shaping their musical taste as a part of the lifeworld. Using the definition of lifeworld and musical socialization, the article demonstrates that the lifeworld of youth performs compensatory and stabilizing functions and also alleviates their behavior. It is mainly these functions make that social reality become their “own world”. In the lifeworld, the musical preferences of young people are very important, and quite often turn out to be a means of communication. It should be noted that the music does not only affect the shaping of the lifeworld of young people, thus allowing them to be identified but, above all, separates the “youth world” from the “adult world”. Musical styles begin to serve as a kind of social language, being the stratification criterion for youth subcultures. Musical preferences as part of the process of youth socialization are one of the main manifestations of limiting the living space of young people.

    Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badania przeprowadzonego w 2001 r. wśród przedstawicieli pokolenia X i badania przeprowadzonego w 2021 r. wśród przedstawicieli pokolenia Z. Celem podjętych badań było znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy nieograniczony dostęp do informacji w Internecie ma wpływ na wzrost poziomu wiedzy wśród przedstawicieli pokolenia Z o najbardziej prestiżowych wydarzeniach kultury wysokiej na przykładzie Międzynarodowego Konkursu Pianistycznego im. Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie. Badaniem ankietowym objęci zostali studenci Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego i Politechniki Krakowskiej.
    The article presents the results of a survey conducted in 2001 among representatives of Generation X and a survey conducted in 2021 among representatives of Generation Z. The aim of the research undertaken was to find an answer to the question whether unlimited access to information on the Internet increases the level of knowledge among the representatives of Generation Z of the most prestigious high culture events on the example of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. The survey covered students of the Jagiellonian University and the Cracow University of Technology.

    Teoretycy edukacji muzycznej zgodnie twierdzą, że powodzenie w nauce muzyki w znacznym stopniu zależy od jakości oddziaływania edukacyjnego na wczesnych etapach kształcenia. Wczesna edukacja muzyczna jest więc tym etapem, w którym diagnoza naturalnego potencjału rozwojowego oraz kształtowanie kompetencji i umiejętności muzycznych są szczególnie ważne (pod względem profesjonalizacji działań oraz ich ewaluacji). Tekst podejmuje ważne dla pedagogów problemy dotyczące dyscyplinaryzacji wiedzy o wczesnej edukacji muzycznej oraz jakości wspierania społecznej praktyki edukacyjnej w tym zakresie. Nawiązuje się przy tym do współczesnej teorii uczenia się muzyki E.E. Gordona i jej głównej kategorii pojęciowej — audiacji. W takim konstrukcie teoretycznym przyjęte zdefiniowania pozwalają kreślić rekomendacje do ogólnej refleksji nad optymalizacją teorii i praktyki wczesnej edukacji muzycznej. Refleksja ta wpisuje się w namysł współczesnej pedagogiki i dąży do próby ewaluacji podstawowych jakości pedagogiki muzyki (choćby w aspekcie tworzenia wiedzy empiryczno-prakseologicznej).
    Music education theoreticians agreeably state that success in learning music depends on the quality of educational influence at an early stage. Early music education is the phase in which diagnosis of developmental potential, shaping musical competences and capabilities are crucial (especially when it comes to professional activities and their evaluation). This paper is focused on issues important for teachers, connected with formulating knowledge on early music education and quality of supporting social educational practice in that field. It refers to the contemporary Gordon’s Theory of Music Learning and it’s major category — audiation. Having a theoretical ground, one can give recommendations for general reflection on theory optimization and early musical education practice. Such a reflection is common for modern pedagogy and it tries to evaluate the basic qualities of music pedagogy (for instance, within the scope of creating empirical and praxeological knowledge).
