Opis:: We present a new four-state interferometer for measuring vectorial reflection coefficient from 50 to 1800 MHz. The interferometer is composed of a four-state phase shifter, a double-directional coupler and a spectrum analyzer with an in-built tracking generator. We describe a design of the interferometer and methods developed for its calibration and de-embedding the measurements. Experimental data verify good accuracy of the impedance measurement.

Opis:: Studying religion jointly with education allows one to produce more precise projections of the size and structure of religious communities. India’s religious groups are characterized by large differences in their education and fertility levels. Among those with secondary or more education, there tends to be low variation in fertility, while for those without any education, fertility is high and varies substantially. For India, if fertility differentials were constant and there was no increase in educational enrolment, the Indian population would grow from 846 million in 2000 to more than 2.3 billion in 2050, while the Hindu population would change from 80.2% to 76.4% and the proportion of Muslims would rise from 13.4% to 19%. If fertility converges and education levels increases, the population would increase to 1.7 billion by 2050, with 78.2% Hindus and 16.5% Muslims.

Opis:: Basic notions of the ageing multistate systems safety analysis are introduced. The system components and the system multistate safety functions are defined. The mean values and variances of the multistate systems lifetimes in the safety state subsets and the mean values of their lifetimes in the particular safety states are defined. The multi-state system risk function and the moment of exceeding by the system the critical safety state are introduced. The exemplary safety structures of the multistate systems with ageing components are defined and their safety functions are determined. As a particular case, the safety functions of the considered multistate systems composed of components having exponential safety functions are determined. Applications of the proposed multistate system safety models to the evaluation and prediction of the safty characteristics of the exemplary series, parallel, “m out of n”, consecutive “m out of n: F”, series-parallel, parallel-series and “m out of l”-series systems are presented as well.

Opis:: Classical probability theory has been widely used in reliability analysis; however, it is hard to handle when the system is lack of` adequate and sufficient data. Nowadays, alternative approaches such as possibility theory and fuzzy set theory have also been proposed to analyze vagueness and epistemic uncertainty regarding reliability aspects of complex and large systems. The model presented in this paper is based upon possibility theory and multistate assumption. Convex sublattice is addressed on congruence relation regarding the complete lattice of structure functions. The relations between the equivalence classes on the congruence relation and the set of all structure functions are established. Furthermore, important reliability bounds can be derived under the notion of convex sublattice. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the results.
Klasyczna teoria prawdopodobieństwa ma szerokie zastosowanie w analizie niezawodności, jednak trudno jest się nią posługiwać, kiedy brak jest wystarczających i odpowiednich danych na temat systemu. Obecnie, proponuje się alternatywne podejścia, takie jak teoria możliwości czy teoria zbiorów rozmytych, za pomocą których można analizować niepewność epistemiczną oraz nieostrość w odniesieniu do aspektów niezawodności złożonych i dużych systemów. Model przedstawiony w niniejszym artykule oparto na teorii możliwości oraz na założeniu wielostanowości. Podkratę wklęsłą opisano na relacji kongruencji, odnoszącej się do całej kraty funkcji struktury. Ustalono relacje pomiędzy klasami równoważności na relacji kongruencji a zbiorem wszystkich funkcji struktury. Ponadto posługując się pojęciem podkraty wypukłej można wyprowadzać istotne kresy niezawodności. Wyniki zilustrowano przykładem numerycznym.

Opis:: Reliability has been widely used as a potential indicator of the performance assessment for several real-life networks. Focus on a multistate transportation network in tourism (MTN), this study evaluates the reliability of the MTN as a basis for investigating the influence of transit time. Reliability is the probability to fulfill transportation demand under the given time threshold and budget limitation and evaluated at various levels of transit times. An algorithm, which employs the boundary points and recursive sum of disjoint products technique, is proposed to evaluate the MTN reliability. According to the obtained results, this paper analyzes the influence of transit times on MTN reliability. Particularly, this paper discusses and provides some suggestions about the appropriate transit time to maintain reliability. Decision-makers in the tourism industry also can predetermine the significant drops of reliability to improve the relevant transit times. Besides, the proposed investigation is indicated and proved through an illustrative example and a practical case.

Opis:: In the paper the basic notions of the ageing multistate systems reliability analysis are introduced. The multistate system reliability functions are defined and the mean values of the multistate system lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and in the particular reliability states are determined. The notion of the multistate system risk function and the moment of the system exceeding the critical reliability state are introduced. Further, in the developed reliability models, it is assumed that the system’s components have the multistate Weibull reliability functions with various parameters in their different reliability state subsets. Under this assumption, the proposed multistate system reliability models are applied in maritime transport to the reliability analysis of a bulk cargo transportation system and its reliability function, moreover other main characteristics are determined.

Furthermore, there are constructed safety models of the multi-state homogeneous and non-homogeneous series, parallel, “m out of n”, consecutive “m out of n: F”, series-parallel, parallel-series, series-“m out of n”, “m out of n”-series, series-consecutive “m out of n: F” and consecutive “m out of n: F”-series systems and their safety functions are determined. Moreover, a very often met in practiceseries system composed of multistate subsystems identical with the considered earlier multistate systems is considered and its safety function is determined.

Opis:: A new approach to safety investigations of multistate complex systems with dependent components at variable operation conditions called critical infrastructures is proposed. The safety function of the critical infrastructure system is defined and determined for an exemplary “m out of l” critical infrastructure. In the developed model, it is assumed that the system components have the multistate exponential safety functions with interdependent departures rates from the subsets of the safety states. The approach is adapted to safety prediction of oil piping transportation system operating at a maritime port.
