    Opis:
    “How Come We Don’t Deliver?” asks Elana Shohamy in the title of her paper on imagined multilingual schools and tackles the striking issue in education: the need for a paradigm shift towards a multilingual approach. This paper focuses on the role of immigrant teachers in this process. Based on the sociolinguistic framework of linguistic markets and the pedagogical framework of professionalization, it presents a qualitative study on teachers’ language beliefs. Using linguistic biographies, this study reconstructs how beliefs towards multilingualism emerge and develop under different educational settings. The findings indicate significant deviations in the perception of multilingualism and showcase deep insights into the development of these perceptions over time. The results reveal the importance of socio-political setting and contribute to a reflected understanding of linguistic diversity management in multilingual education and the need for teacher professionalization.

    Opis:
    The article discusses the issue of multilingual education, which was the subject of discussion and of many scientific studies especially in the late `90s of the last century. Today, due to migration changes, multilanguage education is becoming an important topic again. The authors of the article discuss the most widespread models and concepts of this type of an educational program, which have fund their application in many European countries, such as Germany, Sweden, France and Poland, where due to the current specifications and migration policy, it is appropriate to apply slightly separate models. The element accompanying the formulation of the appropriate education program can be any project whose practical purpose is to raise the awareness among student groups of the importance of the problems and to promote the so-called good practices that have already been developed, among others by Germany.

    Opis:
    The article deals with bilingual education (teaching academic content in two languages), which provides general and further education to students of different nationalities. The United States is considered one of the most multilingual countries in the world, which is why the American experience in bilingual education is very valuable. Ukraine is a multinational country too. So, it is important to solve the problem of the introduction of bilingual education to determine the components of the content of such education and its main features for its effective functioning and development. The article considers the peculiarities of the content of bilingual education in US secondary education. Based on the analysis of the content of bilingual education in secondary schools in the United States, the most important components that can be used in Ukrainian secondary schools are identified. The article considers and compares the content of bilingual education in some American schools in different states. The introductory course of a bilingual secondary school includes compulsory and elective subjects. In the most populous states, bilateral bilingual programmes are common. They are the most effective and therefore prestigious, but also costly. Low-efficiency programmes are common in many other states, which cannot fund expensive projects, such as transitional bilingual programmes, double immersion programmes, monolingual programmes, etc. The most common minority languages involved in bilingual programmes are Spanish, French, German, oriental, and other languages. To assess the level of knowledge of bilingual students, tests with tasks in the native language of students, accompanied by descriptive explanations and expected answers, are used. This type of testing is called Multiple choice. The acquisition of a second language occurs in parallel with the process of students’ acculturation. The specifics of the multicultural development of students in US schools are revealed in the article. The use of bilingual education is one of the leading trends in developing the content of US school education. That is why the positive experience of the United States is valuable for Ukraine.

    The aim of this article is to reflect on the initial training of teachers in line with the assumptions of multilingual didactics. A definition of plu-rilingual competence is given at the beginning of this article. We then discuss briefly about the main assumptions of plurilingual teaching. The next part of the article deals with the philosophy of educating future foreign language teachers in philological studies, which should be largely based on reflection. The article concludes with the analysis of data obtained from students participating in teacher education classes. The aim of the study was to diagnose whether the self-awareness of potential subjects, as given to them by the multilingual competence, could contribute to innovative teaching.

    The article analyses the issue of international partnership in plurilingual language education as a prerequisite of creating common grounds for productive communication in a pan-European area, part of which Ukraine is. In this context, the past and present day practices in teaching and learning foreign languages in Ukraine have been described. The historical retrospection in the regular practice of language school education in the 19th-20th centuries proves that although plurilingualism has been a constant trend of the individual existence a multilingual and multicultural setting of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, it has never been really valued as a factor of personal, academic or professional development of an individual and the society as a whole. New social and individual perspectives that have opened in Ukraine after proclaiming state independence in August 1991 inspired the demand for real-life communicative skills in foreign languages. The key intention of the paper is to show how significantly foreign language education has been facilitated by a start of active cooperation with Western educational and cultural institutions. The narration ends with conclusions that stress the necessity of reciprocal efforts on the part of Ukraine and its partners to get a synergetic effect of their collaboration.

    The problems of the relationship between language and society attract the attention of researchers from different countries representing various scientific areas: philosophy, history, biology, linguistics, theology, pedagogy, psychology, etc. This study actualizes the sociological approach to the study of the social determinants of the formation of polylingualism as a means of professional communication. According to the sociological results, about 70% of the world's population, to one degree or another, speaks two or more languages, which imposes additional obligations on workers обеспечивать international professional communications [1].     Problemy relacji między językiem a społeczeństwem przyciągają uwagę badaczy reprezentujących różne dziedziny nauki: filozofię, historię, biologię, językoznawstwo, teologię, pedagogikę, psychologię itp. Niniejsze opracowanie aktualizuje socjologiczne podejście do badania uwarunkowania powstawania wielojęzyczności jako środka komunikacji zawodowej.Wyniki badań socjologicznych pokazują, że około 70% ludności świata, w takim czy innym stopniu, posługuje się dwoma lub więcej językami, co nakłada dodatkowe obowiązki na pracowników zapewniających międzynarodową komunikację zawodową.Współczesna interakcja wielojęzyczna nie powinna być jednostronnie rozumiana jedynie jako zapożyczenie fachowej terminologii języków obcych. Obejmuje społeczne tło materiału językowego: tradycje, kody mimiczne i pantomimiczne, narodowy obraz świata – i staje się najważniejszym czynnikiem profesjonalizacji.Metody: metody analizy systemowej i funkcjonalnej, porównanie, generalizacja i zbieranie danych empirycznych (wywiady eksperckie, analiza treści)
