Opis:: In this paper, the implementation of a Parallel Genetic Algorithm (PGA) for the training stage, and the optimi zation of a monolithic and modular neural network, for pattern recognition are presented. The optimization con sists in obtaining the best architecture in layers, and neu rons per layer achieving the less training error in a shor ter time. The implementation was performed in a multicore architecture, using parallel programming techniques to exploit its resources. We present the results obtained in terms of performance by comparing results of the training stage for sequential and parallel implementations.

Opis:: Multiple core processors have already became the dominant design for general purpose CPUs. Incarnations of this technology are present in solutions dedicated to such areas like computer graphics, signal processing and also computer networking. Since the key functionality of network core components is fast package servicing, multicore technology, due to multi tasking ability, seems useful to support packet processing. Dedicated network processors characterize very good performance but at the same time high cost. General purpose CPUs achieve incredible performance, thanks to task distribution along several available cores and relatively low cost. The idea, analyzed in this paper, is to use general purpose CPU to provide network core functionality. For this purpose parameterized system model has been created, which represents general core networking needs. This model analyze system parameters influence on system performance.

Opis:: This paper outlines a measurement method of properties of microstructured optical fibers that are useful in sensing applications. Experimental studies of produced photonic-crystal fibers allow for a better understanding of the principles of energy coupling in photonic-crystal fibers. For that purpose, fibers with different filling factors and lattice constants were produced. The measurements demonstrated the influence of the fiber geometry on the coupling level of light between the cores. For a distance between the cores of 15 μm, a very low level (below 2%) of energy coupling was obtained. For a distance of 13 μm, the level of energy transfer toneighboring cores on the order of 2-4% was achieved for a filling factor of 0.29. The elimination of the energycoupling penomenon between the cores was achieved by duplicating the filling factor of the fiber. The coupling level was as high as 22% in the case of fibers with a distance between the cores of 8.5 μm. Our results can be used for microstructured-fiber sensing applications and for transmission-channel switching in liquid-crystal multi-core photonic fibers.

Opis:: A variety of thermal models has been proposed to predict the temperatures inside modern processors. In this paper, we describe and compare two such approaches, a detailed FEMbased simulation and a simpler architectural compact model. It is shown that both models provide comparable results when it comes to predicting the maximal temperature, however there are also non-negligible differences when estimating thermal gradients within a chip. Furthermore, transient simulation results show some differences in temperature profile during processor heating.

Opis:: Selected issues related to the construction of the core chokes applied in sine wave filters were described in this paper. Comparison of test results and simulations of the impact of multi-gap core construction on the losses and acoustic field around the filter were presented. The tests were performed for the sine wave FluxSIN type filter. Simulation parameters were calculated with the help of the design software by RALE Engineering GmbH.
W artykule omówiono wybrane zagadnienia związane z budową dławików rdzeniowych stosowanych w filtrach sinusoidalnych układów napędowych. Przedstawiono porównanie wyników badań oraz symulacji wpływu konstrukcji rdzenia wieloszczelinowego na straty dławika i pole akustyczne wokół filtru. Badania przeprowadzono dla filtru sinusoidalnego typu FluxSIN. Parametry symulacyjne wyznaczono wykorzystując oprogramowanie projektowe firmy RALE Engineering GmbH.

Opis:: A heuristic core mapping dedicated to multi-path routing algorithm for mesh Network on Chip dedicated to popular stream-based audio decoder algorithms is proposed. The processing units performing stages of a number of decoders are mapped into 2D mesh nodes in order to balance and minimize the bandwidths of the structure links. The experimental results confirming the benefits of the proposed approach are provided.
W artykule przedstawiono heurystyczny algorytm odwzorowywania aplikacji zdominowanych przez dane do struktury dwuwymiarowej sieci wewnątrzukładowej. Jednostki przetwarzające są odwzorowywane do sieci NoC w sposób zmniejszający i wyrównujący przepustowości magistral wewnątrzukładowych. Do wyznaczania tras użyto wielościeżkowego algorytmu routingu.

Opis:: It is theoretically considered one of the simplest particular cases of a variational problem of control in an active aviation system acting in conditions of multi-alternativeness and conflicts. With the help of the Euler-Lagrange equations it is obtained the canonical distributions of the subjective preferences for the given functional; differential equation of the second order for finding extremals of the controlled functions of the functional The differential equation satisfies the conditions of existence and unique solution.
