Diplomacy in the contemporary world is put into jeopardy and faces numerous threats such as armed conflicts, terrorism or economic crises. It is often the case the above problems stem from failure to implement moral values in the international life and relations. The situation requires an in-depth reflection and change of mentality. The issue can be handled best with the teaching of Pope Francis addressed to diplomats. He presents his thoughts on the world and the changes which take place therein together with the assessment of the present events, all this being made via a thorough analysis of the development of international relations and specific incidents around the world. By addressing international issues the Pope shows paths which modern diplomacy should follow. The problems of utmost importance are respecting human dignity, overcoming poverty, striving for brotherhood and dialog as well as commitment to achieve world peace. The above topics gain a pastoral dimension in the teaching of Pope Francis addressed to diplomats.

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest koncepcja wartości Amitaia Etzioniego, opierająca się na założeniu o podwójnej użyteczności. Zostaje ona krytycznie przeanalizowana, tak aby znaleźć jej kluczowe twierdzenia. Następnie twierdzenia te zostaną omówione w celu naświetlenia struktury aktów moralnych. Głównym wnioskiem jest teza, iż aparat pojęciowy Etzioniego, który jest używany do opisu aktów moralnych, prawdopodobnie może być zastąpiony przez typowy neoklasyczny zestaw pojęć, opierający się na idei maksymalizacji użyteczności.
The subject of the paper is Amitai Etzioni’s theory of value underpinned by the assumption of bi-utility. It is critically analyzed to find its crucial statements. Then the statements are discussed in the purpose of highlighting a structure of moral acts. The main conclusion of the article is the thesis that Etzioni’s conceptual apparatus which is used to describe moral acts can be probably replaced by typical neoclassical framework based on the idea of utility maximization.

Opis:
Programmes of formal education establish a systematic transfer of knowledge as well as universal values from one generation to another. By that, they ensure the survival of social structures, prevent radical disruptions in their continuity, and serve as basis for general development of a society. Their content and didactic arrangements include interweaving of two basic aspects: the cognitive one and the one related to vzgoja (i.e. upbringing, moral/value education etc.). The latter aims to achieve the ideals of a tolerant, just and lifelong learning society, but seems to be facing increasing challenges, mainly emerging from neoliberal capitalist mentality. Art history as a school subject area in elementary and secondary education may provide an insight beneath the surface of historical events. Thus, it helps develop a critical view towards them and consequently towards the present real-life situations, which contributes to ascending the taxonomic scale of conative educational goals.

In his paper, “The Concept of Value in the Ethical Thought of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła,” Tadeusz Ślipko argues that the thought of Karol Wojtyła was not faithful to the truth. This paper attempts (1) to bring into question the validity of Tadeusz Ślipko’s claim and (2) to show that Wojtyła can be embraced not only as an ambassador of the truth, but that such an acceptance allows us to embrace the truth itself. The paper consists of three parts. After (1) framing the stage with a more developed showcase of Wojtyła’s view of value within the bounds of morality as seen from antiquity, it (2) summarizes Ślipko’s objections and reservations and, then, (3) expands on Wojtyła’s stance in relation to the objections and offers relevant solutions.

Work is a very important activity for Homo sapiens, because it has distinguished this species from the animal world and enabled it to create other civilizations, which testifies to its psychophysical development. Although work has always been the key factor stimulating the phylogenetic development of people, and is likely to continue to do so, this fact was recognized only after people had become capable of scientific reflection on work. This article constitutes an attempt at presenting the process of shaping views on the moral value of human work and the factors conditioning the prevailing views on this issue.
Praca jest działalnością szczególnie doniosłą dla gatunku Homo sapiens, ponieważ dzięki niej zdołał się on wyodrębnić ze świata zwierzęcego oraz mógł tworzyć kolejne cywilizacje, które wskazują na jego psychofizyczny rozwój. Ale chociaż praca była decydującym czynnikiem stymulującym filogenetyczny rozwój ludzi i jest nim nadal, to jednak dostrzeżenie tego faktu stało się możliwe dopiero wówczas, gdy ludzie osiągnęli zdolność do naukowej refleksji nad pracą. Artykuł ten jest próbą skrótowego ukazania procesu kształtowania się poglądów na moralną wartość pracy ludzkiej oraz na uwarunkowania istniejących poglądów na ten temat.

The first part of this paper describes the flow of tourism on a national and international scale, emphasizing the role that entertainment tourism and theme parks play globally. Following these preliminary remarks, the second part of the paper presents the positive and negative economic effects of leisure tourism opportunities at the European and regional level. The third part of the paper analyses the environmental aspects of tourism and entertainment tourism. It shows that sustainable tourism development can be an essential condition for the protection of natural and cultural resources. Finally, the fourth part summarizes some of the most important social issues arising from tourism activities, among them the conflict between residents and tourists on the exploitation of resources and the demonstration effect deriving from the consumption of resources. To avoid this spoliation and destruction of the destination (land and local community), the paper suggests a new Humanism based on Catholicism as a way to realize a sustainability utopia.

Przebaczenie sobie stanowi jedną z najbardziej kontrowersyjnych decyzji, nie tylko ze względu na fakt samodzielnego uwalniania się od konsekwencji moralnie złych wyborów dokonywanych przez jednostkę, ale także z uwagi na łączenie go z ukrytym, udzielanym sobie, przyzwoleniem na wykonywanie podobnych aktów w przyszłości. Równocześnie w literaturze psychologicznej ukazywane są pozytywne aspekty przebaczenia sobie. Niniejsze analizy poświęcone są moralnej wartości przebaczenia sobie i w konsekwencji prawomocności włączania go jako celu w proces wychowania. W kolejnych punktach najpierw decyzja o przebaczeniu sobie porównywana jest do aktów samouniewinnienia, samousprawiedliwienia i samoułaskawienia, następnie analizowany jest czyn, w odniesieniu do którego jednostka ma prawo podjąć decyzję o przebaczeniu sobie, wreszcie podejmowana jest refleksja nad procesem przebaczenia sobie oraz jego warunkami.
Forgiving oneself is considered to be one of the most controversial decisions. Not only because this is when we release ourselves from the consequences of our morally wrong choices, but also because it seems to suggest that we give ourselves an implicit consent to perform similar acts in the future. Nevertheless, psychological literature points to positive aspects of self-forgiveness. This study focuses on the moral value of self-forgiveness, and consequently, the legitimacy of including it as one of the objectives in the education process. Firstly, the decision to forgive oneself is compared to acts of self-acquittal, self-justification, and self-pardon. Secondly, an analysis ensues of the act to which the right of self-forgiveness can be applied. Finally, the process of self-forgiveness is discussed along with the conditions it requires.

Any scientific intercession that has as objective the understanding of the significances of the “principle of law” needs to have an interdisciplinary character, the basis for the approach being the philosophy of law. In this study we fulfill such an analysis with the purpose to underline the multiple theoretical significances due to this concept, but also the relationship between the juridical principles and norms, respectively the normative value of the principle of the law. Thus, extensive references to the philosophical and juridical doctrine in the matter are being materialized. This study is a pleading to refer to the principles in the work for the law’s creation and application. Starting with the difference between “given” and “constructed”, we propose the distinction between the “metaphysical principles” outside the law, which by their contents have philosophical significances, and the “constructed principles” elaborated inside the law. We emphasize the obligation of the law maker, but also of the expert to refer to the principles in the work of legislation, interpretation and applying of the law. Arguments are brought for the updating, in certain limits, the justice – naturalistic concepts in the law.

The article refers to the axiological paradigm of (dis)honesty (the notion taken from Tadeusz Kotarbiński’s analysis) capable of being one of the dedicated devices of the poetics of evocation. The point of reference for these theoretical reflections is Mark Twain’s short story entitled “The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg”. The writer’s presentation of the still up-to-date and relevant axiological paradigm of (dis)honesty is at the hub of the deliberations,which aim to ascertain what constitutes the origin of its uniqueness and the freshness of its display. Primarily with the help of the concept taken from Roman Ingarden’s “catalogue” of aesthetically valuable qualities (“the ‘novelty’ variant”), and also drawing on the philosopher’s reflections devoted to one of the two ontological dimensions of the construction of a literary work (phaseality), an attempt is made to identify the specificity of the epically visualised phenomenon of (dis)honesty, and determine the methodological character of the poetics of evocation, necessary for this purpose.

The aim of this paper is to search for an answer to the question whether an ethical person should aid others or whether it is a moral duty. The postulate of assistance follows from concern for the good of another person, which is a characteristic of morality. However, not all contemporary ethical conceptions postulate the moral value of assistance. In particular, the ethics of Nietzsche and libertarians question its moral importance. The question of whether assistance has moral value depends on how we understand morality and the compulsoriness of its principles. Providing material assistance is a human act and the value of that act is influenced by its circumstances. Depending on the circumstances, the moral obligation of aid varies from permission to requirement. There are also praxeological conditions of the value of material assistance, connected with a negative evaluation of wastefulness and inefficiency. If people should help, how strong is the obligation to do so? The answer depends on the source of duty; unfortunately, deontological ethics cannot clearly differentiate situations in which material assistance is a duty from situations in which it as supererogatory act. We are therefore left to our own moral sensitivity.

Speech Ethics is an interdisciplinary research discipline. It is founded on the personalistic concept of a human being, which implies the obligation to respect the communication partner. Sociology provides ethics with data on attitudes towards values, motivations for behaviour and changes in morality. The research methodology in Speech Ethics is derived from the broadly understood linguistics and rhetoric. The pragmatic aim of Speech Ethics is to shape communication patterns that lead to mutual understanding.

The ultimate aim became the realisation of the political ideas of democracy, equality, and social justice" (Orlenius, 2001; Svingby, 1994,p. 57). The current study aimed to explore the concept of value education at Poornaprajna institutions that have adopted value education in their curriculum. Methods.The study was designed in a qualitative exploratory research approach. The researcher had adopted the interviews for a case study as a microscopic social study through observation and also studied the archival records in Poornaprajna institutions. The informal group interviews were administered as part of a qualitative research approach, and it aimed to collect data from twenty eight English teachers and students of Poornaprajna institutions. Result. The validity and trustworthiness of the study were established by adopting Miles and Hubeman's formula, and it is 0.91. The exploration and findings revealed the need and implication of value education in the present scenario. Furthermore, the data analysis revealed that value education is a process that begins at home and continues in society, and further, it continues in formal educational institutions. Conclusion. The study envisions that the educational institutions must integrate the curriculum with value education so that students’ cultural worlds, meanings they attribute to behaviour, events which essentially lead to the developmental process of the society. The National Education Policy 2019, aims to universalise education in India by 2025, and it also aims at inter- and multidisciplinary approaches in Indian education. The present study juxtaposes an interdisciplinary approach to English and value education.
