Opis:
We consider a quasilinear vector differential equation which involves the p-Laplacian and a maximal monotone map. The boundary conditions are nonlinear and are determined by a generally multivalued, maximal monotone map. We prove two existence theorems. The first assumes that the maximal monotone map involved is everywhere defined and in the second we drop this requirement at the expense of strengthening the growth hypothesis on the vector field. The proofs are based on the theory of operators of monotone type and on the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem. At the end we present some special cases (including the classical Dirichlet, Neumann and periodic problems), which illustrate the general and unifying features of our work.

Opis:
In this article, we consider a class of nonlinear Dirichlet problems driven by a Leray-Lions type operator with variable exponent. The main result establishes an existence property by means of nonvariational arguments, that is, nonlinear monotone operator theory and approximation method. Under some natural conditions, we show that a weak limit of approximate solutions is a solution of the given quasilinear elliptic partial differential equation involving variable exponent.

Opis:
This paper deals with a nonlinear problem modelling the contact between an elastic body and a rigid foundation. The elastic constitutive law is assumed to be nonlinear and the contact is modelled by the well-known Signorini conditions. Two weak formulations of the model are presented and existence and uniqueness results are established using classical arguments of elliptic variational inequalities. Some equivalence results are presented and a strong convergence result involving a penalized problem is also proved.

We study an evolution problem which describes the quasistatic contact of a viscoelastic body with a foundation. We model the contact with normal damped response and a local friction law. We derive a variational formulation of the model and we establish the existence of a unique weak solution to the problem. The proof is based on monotone operators and fixed point arguments. We also establish the continuous dependence of the solution on the contact boundary conditions.

We consider dynamic problems which describe frictional contact between a body and a foundation. The constitutive law is viscoelastic or elastic and the frictional contact is modelled by a general subdifferential condition on the velocity, including the normal damped responses. We derive weak formulations for the models and prove existence and uniqueness results. The proofs are based on the theory of second-order evolution variational inequalities. We show that the solutions of the viscoelastic problems converge to the solution of the corresponding elastic problem as the viscosity tensor tends to zero and when the frictional potential function converges to the corresponding function in the elastic problem

In this paper, first we consider parametric control systems driven by nonlinear evolution equations defined on an evolution triple of spaces. The parametres are time-varying probability measures (Young measures) defined on a compact metric space. The appropriate optimization problem is a minimax control problem, in which the system analyst minimizes the maximum cost (risk). Under general hypotheses on the data we establish the existence of optimal controls.
Then we pass to nonparametric systems, which are governed by nonlinear evolution equations with nonmonotone operators. We prove two existence results for such evolution inclusions, which are of independent interest and extend significantly the results existing in the literature. Then we solve time-optimal and Meyer-type optimization problems. In Section 5, we derive necessary conditions for saddle point optimality in the minimax control problem. We conclude the paper with three examples of distributed parameter control systems.

This paper is devoted to the regularization of quasi-variational inequalities. The quasi-variational inequality is considered with multivalued operator. The operator involved is taken to be non-coercive and the data are assumed to be known approximately only. Under the assumption that the quasi-variational inequality be solvable, a weakly convergent approximation procedure is designed by means of the so-called Browder-Tikhonov regularization method.

For variational inequalities with multi-valued, maximal monotone operators in Hilbert spaces we study proximal-based methods with an improvement of the data approximation after each (approximately performed) proximal iteration. The standard conditions on a distance functional of Bregman's type are weakened, depending on a "reserve of monotonicity" of the operator in the variational inequality, and the enlargement concept is used for approximating the operator. Weak convergence of the proxinnal iterates to a solution of tire original problem is proved. The construction of the [epsilon]-enlargement of monotone operators is analyzed for some particular cases.
