Opis:
We evaluated how organic manures (farmyard manure, dung water and poultry slurry), different doses of mineral fertilizers (three treatments), combinations of manures with mineral fertilizers (three treatments), and potato varieties (four varieties) influenced potato tuber yields in our longterm fertilizer experiment in Prague, established in 1954. According to our crop rotation, potatoes were planted every ninth year, starting in 1962. Four potato varieties were used since then (Krasava, Radka, Korela, Dita), all of them were medium-maturing and consumable. The average potato yield was 19.1 Mg ha-1 at the beginning of our experiment (1962, var. Krasava) and 37.5 Mg ha-1 in 2007 (var. Dita), showing low suitability of the experimental site for potato production. The mean tuber yield of varieties Krasava, Radka, Korela and Dita was 18.5, 17.1, 30.2 and 37.5 Mg ha-1, respectively. The effect of organic manures was principally comparable with mineral fertilizers. Increasing doses of mineral fertilizers were not related to appropriate increase in tuber yield. Therefore, application of N, P and K around 50, 50 and 144 kg ha-1, respectively, gives fair yields in such non-optimal production area, as is our experimental site. In the case of warm and dry seasons, even high doses of the mineral fertilizers can’t ensure usual potato production.

Opis:
The paper presents results of studies on the influence of liming and mineral fertilization on the yields and boron content of potato tubers and green matter of fodder sunflower grown in four and three rotations, respectively, on soil developed from loess. The experiment was set up on a field submitted to long-term fertilization and located in the village Krasne near Rzeszow, lying in the Rzeszów Foothills (Poland). Boron was determined colorimetrically with diantrimide after digestion of dried plant material at 550°C and dissolution of the residue in hydrochloric acid solution. Average yields of potato tubers and green matter of fodder sunflower were higher after liming, but statistical significance was confirmed only for fodder sunflower. Mineral NPK fertilization, regardless of liming, significantly enhanced the yield of green matter of fodder sunflower and, in most fertilization treatments, raised potato tuber yields. Potato tubers accumulated much smaller amounts of boron (2.2-7.5 mg kg-1 DM) than aerial parts of fodder sunflower (20- 60 mg kg-1 DM). The boron content was significantly lower in potato tubers from the limed variant than in plants from the non-limed field. The response of sunflower to soil liming was opposite. The mineral fertilization applied, regardless of liming, had no significant effect on the boron content of potato tubers. Mineral nutrition reduced the boron content in the sunflower biomass under the influence of increasing doses of nitrogen and against the background of constant phosphorus-potassium fertilization.

Opis:
Influence of mineral fertilizer on the growth of maize (Zea mays L.) and soil fertility improvement for food security, environmental development and sustainable agriculture were studied. Five treatments viz: 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 kg of NPK (15:15:15) mineral fertilizer per hectare (kg ha-1) were used in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replicates. These treatments were applied once to five week-old seedlings of Zea mays (L.) using ring method. The effects of these treatments on plant height (PH) and number of leaves (NOL) were monitored weekly. Soil samples were taken and analyzed in the laboratory, before and after cropping. The study showed that NPK (15:15:15) mineral fertilizer increased plant height, number of leaves and nutrient (N, P,K, Ca, Na, Mg, Organic matter, Cation Exchange Capacity and pH) content of the soil. The highest (p = 0.05) plant height and number of leaves were obtained from NPK treatment at 20 kg ha-1 which stands significantly (p < 0.05) different over the control. At p < 0.05, there were significant difference among treatments. The use of NPK mineral fertilizer at an application rate between 15 and 20 kg NPK (15:15:15) ha-1 seems effective, responsive and productive for maximum growth of maize (Zea mays L.), for soil fertility improvement, food security, environmental development and for sustainable agricultural production.

Opis:
A field experiment, conducted on loess-derived gray-brown podzolic soil, evaluated the effect of different levels of intensive fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the soil content of mineral phosphorus fractions which are the major but varying source of this nutrient for crop plants. Before the establishment of the experiment, the soil contained 77.2 mg P kg–1, 187 mg K kg–1, 44 mg Mg kg–1, and 1.18% of humus, whereas pHKCl was 4.9. The experiment consisted of twenty seven fertilization treatments – nine nitrogen and potassium fertilization treatment combinations, each in four replicates, were carried out in relation to three increasing levels of phosphorus fertilization. Phosphorus fraction was indicated with the modified Chang-Jackson method. Mineral nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilization after timothy grass harvest significantly affected the easily soluble phosphate fraction content in soil. Phosphorus fertilization caused the highest increase, while this increase was lower in the case of potassium and nitrogen fertilization. Mineral fertilization (with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) used in the experiment caused a significant increase of the content of aluminium phosphate fractions in soil. Evaluating iron phosphate fraction content in soil, it can be concluded that it was the most stable fraction and that mineral fertilization at increasing NPK rates essentially did not have any statistically proven effect on its occurrence. Among the three fertilizer nutrients applied (NPK), phosphorus and potassium fertilization caused a significant increase in calcium phosphate fraction content in soil. The application of nitrogen was not found to have such an effect. Mineral NPK fertilization significantly affected the total mineral phosphorus fraction content in soil. A systematic increase in the total fraction analysed was found primarily under the influence of phosphorus and potassium fertilization. Phosphorus applied as granulated triple superphosphate was primarily transformed in the soil into fractions of iron and aluminium phosphates, to lower extent into calcium phosphate fraction, and – to the lowest extent – into easily soluble phosphates fraction.
Fosfor zastosowany w postaci superfosfatu potrójnego granulowanego przechodził w glebie przede wszystkim we frakcję fosforanów żelazowych i glinowych, w mniejszych ilościach – frakcję fosforanów wapniowych oraz w najmniejszych – frakcję fosforanów łatwo rozpuszczalnych.

Opis:
The paper presents the issue of nutrient management, such ingredients as N, P, K and Ca, in mineral and lime fertiliza-tion in the Polish agriculture. The analysis covered changes in the number and share of farms using mineral fertilization and the level of consumption of individual ingredients in mineral fertiliz-ers. The comparative analysis was based on individual farm data with 2007 and 2016 years. Spatial analysis was carried out at the level of voivodships (NUTS-2). The results indicated regional diversification in the management of mineral fertilisers. This dif-ferentiation is progressing, which was evidenced by the different pace of changes in the share of farms using mineral fertilization among voivodships. Nitrogen fertilizers are the most common type of mineral fertilizers, that was indicated by the number of farms applying this type of fertilizers. At the same time, lime fer-tilizers are very rarely used on individual farms. In this scope, there is also a wide, increasing regional diversity. According to the carried out analyses, the level of consumption of mineral fer-tilizers, especially nitrogen fertilizers in Poland, is mainly related to the intensity of crop production. The average fertilizer rates for Poland do not reflect the actual situation and changes in particu-lar voivodships. The consumption of mineral fertilizers is mainly dependent on the diversity of the area structure and the organiza-tional and economic level of agricultural holdings. The intensity of fertilization with fertilizing components increases simultane-ously with the size of agricultural holdings. This dependency is described by the second-degree polynomial equation. The highest doses of macronutrients in mineral fertilizers have been used for many years in south-western and western Poland, and the small-est, with a few exceptions, in the east of the country. The results of the studies indicate that organizational factors (related to the farms` area) are an equally strong determinant of the consump-tion of fertilizing components as well as the location of the farms (geographical, administrative).

Opis:
Garden thyme is a very important essential herbal plant grown in Poland. As well as being able to regulate digestion processes, thyme herbage possesses disinfecting, expectorant, antioxidant, spasmolytic properties. Research has been launched to define the effect of NPK fertilisation on yielding, the content of essential oil as well as the mineral composition of garden thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) herbage. The experimental factor consisted of NPK mineral fertilisation applied into soil at the following doses per hectare and proportions: A0 – without mineral fertilisation, A1 – 30 kg N + 22 kg P + 100 kg K (N:P:K was: 1:0.75:3.33), A2 – 60 kg N (30 kg N + 30 kg N) + 22 kg P + 100 kg K (1:0.37:1.67), A3 – 90 kg N (45 kg N + 45 kg N) + 22 kg P + 100 kg K (1:0.24:1.11). The experiment comprised 4 fertilisation objects with 4 replications, and the sowing area and the harvest area of 3 m2 plot-1. Nitrogen was applied in the form of ammonium nitrate twice: pre-sowing as well as after plant emergence. Phosphorus and potassium were used pre-sowing, in the form of triple superphosphate 40% and 60% of potassium salt, respectively. The doses of 152 kg NPK ha-1 (1:0.75:3.33) – A1 and 182 kg NPK ha-1 (1:0.37:1.67) - A2 showed the most favourable effect on the yield of fresh weight, air-dried weight and essential oil of herbage as well as the quality characteristics of the yields. The dose of 152 kg NPK ha-1 (A1), including 30 kg less nitrogen, was as favourable as that of 182 kg NPK ha-1 in terms of the content of air-dry weight of herbage, essential oil as well as mineral nutrients. Its application also resulted in a similar yield of essential oil. The application of 212 kg NPK ha-1 (1:0.24:1.11) was economically unjustified since, in general, it decreased the size of the yield of fresh weight of herbage and the values of its parameters studied.

Opis:
Cereal grains have been a primary source of nourishment for humans for thousands of years. Agronomic inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, water and modern seeds have a major impact on the level of cereal crops. However, yield, to a greater extent, depends on the dose of applied NPK mineral fertilization. The aim of the article is to determine the consumption level of NPK mineral fertilizers and cereal yield and their tendency to change over time, taking correlation into account. Analysis was performed on a global level. The material for analysis was statistical data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations database for the years 2002-2017. As a result of the conducted analyzes, it was confirmed that mineral fertilization is the main factor of production that determines the food security of the world’s growing human population. However, the consumption of this factor of production is greatly varied in the world. It should also be emphasized that, both on a global scale and for most continents, there are clear trends reflecting a correlation in the increase in the use of NPK mineral fertilizers, including nitrogen fertilizers, and cereal yield level.

This paper presents the changes in the magnesium content in soil and plants and in the uptake of this element in yield under the influence of NPKCa fertilization. Eastern galega (Galega orientalis Lam.) was cultivated in 2005-2009. A field experiment was conducted on the experimental plots of the Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities. Thirteen levels of fertilization were included in the study: without fertilization, N20, P50, K150, N20P50K150, N20P50, N20K150, P50K150, N20P50K150Ca150, P50K150Ca150, Ca150, N20K150Ca150, N20P50Ca150. Three swaths of the test plants were harvested at budding in each year of the study. The total content of magnesium in soil and in plants was determined with the ICP-AES method on an emission spectrophotometer with inductively-coupled plasma. The applied mineral fertilization with NPKCa did not have any significant impact on the average magnesium content in soil. The highest (significantly) content of magnesium was determined in eastern galega biomass harvested from the plots fertilized with Ca150 as dolomite calcium in all years of the experiment (the mean for the years: 2.91 g kg-1 d.m.). The average content of Mg in the subsequent swaths was as follows (in g kg-1 d.m.): swath I (2.04) < swath II (3.23) > swath III (2.39). The determined content of magnesium in eastern galega in the subsequent years of the experiment ranged between 2.22 g kg-1 d.m. in 2006 and 2.83 g kg-1 d.m. in 2008. The highest uptake of magnesium in eastern galega yield (73.78 kg Mg ha-1) was recorded on a plot fertilized with N20P50Ca150 in 2008.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to estimate the impact of reducing the consumption of mineral fertilizers resulting from the New Green Deal assumptions on the yields of major crops in the 2030 perspective. The material for analysis was statistical data from the CSO and FAO. The collected data was processed dynamically by using trend analyzes and Pearson linear correlation. Maintaining the current trend of increasing the dose of NPK mineral fertilization will allow the use of crop production potential in Poland. On the other hand, the introduction of the NGD assumptions may result in a stagnation of crop yield at the current level. However, in relation to the scenario assuming the continuation of the current upward trend, these yields will be much lower. Reducing mineral fertilization introduced by means of an administrative decision without taking the principles of rational management of fertilizer components into consideration may have negative environmental consequences.
Celem pracy jest oszacowanie wpływu ograniczenia zużycia nawozów mineralnych, wynikających z założeń Nowego Zielonego Ładu, na plony głównych roślin uprawnych w perspektywie 2030 roku. Materiały do analizy stanowiły dane statystyczne GUS i FAO. Jednak w stosunku do scenariusza zakładającego kontynuację obecnego trendu wzrostowego, plony te będą znacznie niższe. Ponadto ograniczenie nawożenia mineralnego, wprowadzone decyzją administracyjną, bez uwzględnienia zasad racjonalnej gospodarki składnikami pokarmowymi może nieść za sobą negatywne skutki środowiskowe.

The aim of this experiment was to determine the effect of spent mushroom substrate (SMS), manure and mineral fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on chamomile (Chamomilla recutita L. Rausch) yield and raw material quality. Unfertilized chamomile plots were the control treatment. This study hypothesized that due to its high content of organic matter and macro- and micronutrients, SMS could be an alternative and innovative method of fertilization of this herbal plant. Given that the possibility of using organic fertilization is very limited, we should seek new methods to increase the organic matter content in cultivated soils. A three-year field experiment with a split-block design was conducted on podzolic soil under the climatic conditions of the central Lublin region (Poland). SMS used in this experiment was richer in dry matter and total nitrogen, but less rich in total organic carbon, phosphorus and potassium than farmyard manure. In each year of the study, the highest total yield of chamomile raw material was recorded in the treatment with SMS supplemented with mineral NPK fertilization in spring. The above-mentioned treatment also proved to be most beneficial for the majority of the analyzed quality parameters of the chamomile raw material. It was proved that due to fertilization of a chamomile plantation with SMS, herbal raw material characterized by the best health-promoting parameters (a high content of natural antioxidants) can be obtained.
