The purpose of this comparative study is to explore the differences in the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) between micro versus small and medium enterprises (SMEs). We have selected three dimensions of EO (proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy) for our analysis. We have analyzed the data collected from 1141 respondents during the period of 2015 from 14 regions of the Czech Republic, which consists of 740 micro firms and 401 small and medium firms. Empirical results of our paper show significant differences between micro versus small and medium enterprises in terms of proactiveness and autonomy. However, we can only partially confirm that micro firms are statistically different from the SMEs in terms of competitive aggressiveness. Thus, our paper enables better understanding of the EO from the firm size perspective, when they have different levels of resources.

This paper presents the results of a study conducted in Slovenia between January and June 2011 in Slovene micro-enterprises. We used a structured questionnaire with some demographic questions about business computerization, the owner’s characteristics and some questions about the level of awareness of Cloud computing and what significance have the listed properties of Cloud computing services for owners to hire Cloud solutions. The results show that almost two thirds of micro-enterprises did not know anything about Cloud computing at that time. One of the most important information source on Cloud computing was the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Micro-enterprises showed the highest interest in the possibility of hiring IaaS – data store capacities and backups. As the most important characteristics they highlight reliability, security and performance of Cloud solutions. The results of this study were compared with the outcome of some other comparable studies, and some recommendations for micro-enterprises are given.

Subject and purpose of work: Micro Enterprises (UMKM) have a great potential to support the economic condition, however, if it is not balanced with managerial abilities, team effectiveness is not maximised. This study investigates increasing team effectiveness through training and mentoring in making Qur’ani job designs of micro enterprises. Materials and methods: The study used a pre-posttest design of control and experimental groups. 74 total respondents were involved and divided into a control and an experimental group. Each group consisted of 37 respondents. The measuring instruments used in the study were a questionnaire developed by the researchers implementing Qur’ani Job Design, as well as the value of team effectiveness in micro enterprises. The data analysis was performed by the analysis of variance (ANOVA), which assessed the magnitude of the effect of training and mentoring team effectiveness. Results: The results indicated that training and assistance of making qurani job designs can help increase the effectiveness of a team. Conclusions: Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the evaluation that was carried out shows that quranic job design can help increase the effectiveness of micro enterprises teams. Thus the hypothesis in this study was accepted.

W świetle zmieniających się przepisów prawnych kolejne jednostki mają możliwość zastosowania nowych regulacji oraz uproszczeń. Należą do nich mikro oraz małe jednostki gospodarcze. Celami artykułu są przedstawienie definicji małych i mikro przedsiębiorstw, zaprezentowanie wybranych uproszczeń, jakie przewidział dla nich ustawodawca oraz omówienie stosowania ich w praktyce. Autorzy początkowo skupiają się na teoretycznych aspektach omawianego zagadnienia, by w ostatniej części odnieść je do wyników przeprowadzonych przez siebie badań wykonanych przy zastosowaniu metody badania dokumentów oraz metody indywidualnych przypadków.
In the light of rules of law changing, numerous economic units come before the possibility of employing new regulations and simplifications. They can be either micro or small enterprises. The goal of the article is to present the definitions of those units, to portray chosen simplifications predicted by the lawmaker, and to discuss about using them in practice. Initially, the authors focus on the theoretical aspects of the issue, which are useful as a reference to the results of the research accomplished with the document test method and the individual case method, located in the last part.

Przedsiębiorstwa mikro z sektora MŚP w Polsce stanowią większość wśród firm w sferze działalności  przemysłowej,  produkcyjnej  i usługowej.  Rola  i znaczenie  sektora  MŚP  w gospodarce  jest w ostatnich latach przedmiotem wielu rozważań oraz dyskusji, jednak niewielka liczba badań i opracowań teoretycznych dotyczy firm mikro. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań własnych nad kształtowaniem postaw przedsiębiorczych mikroprzedsiębiorstw z województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego. Przedstawiono w nim opinie 80 mikroprzedsiębiorstw z tego województwa, dotyczące identyfikacji czynników marketingowych i logistycznych stymulujących proces zarządzania oraz rozwój przedsiębiorczości. Badania własne mikrofirm z województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego wskazują na zależność pomiędzy wprowadzaniem współczesnych metod zarządzania a rozwojem przedsiębiorstw z sektora MŚP.
The micro-enterprises are the main group among all the companies in the area of production industry and services in Poland. The role and importance of SMEs in the economy is under many discussions and deliberations. At present, one of the main goals in the management area is to increase competive-ness of the micro-enterprises. The aim of article is to present the results of the author’s research on developing entrepreneurship of the micro-enterprises based in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. It presents the results of research conducted in 80 companies in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region relat-ing to the identification of management process and factors in support of their development. There are observed possibilities of developing the researched micro-enterprises by the support of marketing and logistics management.

The aim of the article is to analyse the investment activity of micro-enterprises from the Lubelskie voivodeship, and to indicate the sources of its financing, with particualar emphasis on EU funds. During the period 2009-2013, the investment outlays of micro-enterprises from the Lubelskie voivodeship were subject to significant fluctuations. The data analysis indicates the moderate investment activity of entities from the other regions of Poland. Micro- and small enterprises from the Lubelskie voivodeship financed their investments mainly from their own resources. The usage of UE funds in investment financing was relatively small. For micro-entrepreneurs from the Lubelskie voivodeship, barriers to using EU funds of particular importance were: bureaucracy, lack of own resources, and insufficient knowledge.

The aim of this article is to analyze the innovation of micro-enterprises – the fastest growing group of companies in Poland. The article contains the answers to the questions: What is the level of investment in micro-enterprises, and how they are financed? Due to the limited amount of funds, micro-enterprises often have to give up on the investments. The opportunity for them is to cooperate with other economic subjects. The article presents the expectations of entrepreneurs for such cooperation and difficulties associated with it. In addition, the author presented operations which are expected from the government by micro-enterprises to help them running their investments.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of a company’s size on its manager’s perception towards changes in market needs and manufacturing flexibility. To serve the purpose, a questionnaire was designed by considering different types of manufacturing flexibility and changes occurring in market needs. The collected data were then analyzed to verify the proposed hypotheses. The results showed that a company’s size significantly influence manager’s perception towards manufacturing flexibility and market requirements. For instance, reliability is given higher priority by managers of micro and small enterprises in comparison with managers of medium and large enterprises. Similarly, routine flexibility is found to be significantly more important to managers of micro and small enterprises, while production facility flexibility is considered more important by managers of medium and large enterprises. Furthermore, the results showed that there is a positive relationship between changes in market requirements and manufacturing flexibility, showing that manufacturing flexibility is governed by changes in market requirements. This research was conducted with managers at various companies in the energy sector; so the results may not be applicable to other industries.

The new millennium is seen as an epoch of entrepreneurship with entrepreneurs perceiving novel opportunities, organizing resources, undertaking risks to pursue their goals in establishing innovative ventures for scaling new horizons. Women entrepreneurs have the potency to confront numerous challenges, such as creating equity, equilibrium, ensuring sustainable and inclusive socio economic development in divergent economies, by seizing tremendous business opportunities in the contemporary commercial world. Kerala, the southern State of India, is experiencing an economic renovation through technological transformation and, in particular, through the growth of women oriented Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The study aims to; identify the growth trends of women’s entrepreneurship in the micro enterprises of Kerala; examine whether women’s entrepreneurial activities significantly vary across the form of women owned enterprises, type of organization and nature of activity; and also explore the prospects and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs through micro entrepreneurial activities. Research methodology involves the application of descriptive quantitative analysis on the secondary data primarily collected from the database of Directorate of Industries and District Industries Centre for a period of 7 years extending from 2007-08 to 2013-14. Findings reveal that MSMEs spawn better income distribution, by operating in heterogeneous areas of the economy with limited capital and creating more employment opportunities, thereby reducing poverty and inequalities. The trend analysis reflects an escalation in the number of enterprises, investments, profits and employment opportunities generated especially through micro enterprises of women. They play a crucial role in the economy in terms of creating self employment and generating employment opportunities for others. A paradigm shift is seen in the role of women’s entrepreneurship in terms of innovation, attitudes, leadership qualities, competitiveness, entrepreneurial skill and absorbing new entrants to the job market, empowering marginalized women.

The growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is an important prerequisite for the economic development of the country because it creates the lion’s share of jobs in developed economies and is an engine for innovations. SMEs usually do not have significant resources and are affected by changes in the external environment. In recent years, in Ukraine, a transit economy, small and micro-enterprises have been increasingly important in the economic processes. This article examines the effect of macroeconomic factors on the development of small and micro-businesses in Ukraine’s regions, namely the size of the gross regional product, purchasing power of the households, the value of gross exports and imports, income from sales of large enterprises. Using official statistical data, we created a panel-like dataset covering all regions of Ukraine for 2015-2019. We performed longitudinal modeling with fixed effects specification. We found a positive impact of a change in the total income and expenditures of households and a change in the foreign trade indicators and a negative impact of a change in gross regional product and a change in the economic performance of large enterprises on the number of small and micro-enterprises in the region.
Rozwój małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MŚP) jest ważnym czynnikiem rozwoju gospodarczego kraju, ponieważ podmioty te tworzą lwią część miejsc pracy w rozwiniętych gospodarkach i są motorem innowacji. MŚP zazwyczaj nie dysponują znacznymi zasobami i podlegają zmianom pod wpływem otoczenia zewnętrznego. W ostatnich latach na Ukrainie coraz większe znaczenie w procesach gospodarczych mają gospodarka tranzytowa oraz małe przedsiębiorstwa i mikroprzedsiębiorstwa. W artykule zbadano wpływ czynników makroekonomicznych na rozwój małych przedsiębiorstw i mikroprzedsiębiorstw w poszczególnych regionach Ukrainy, a mianowicie wielkość produktu regionalnego brutto, siłę nabywczą gospodarstw domowych, wartość eksportu i importu brutto, dochody ze sprzedaży dużych przedsiębiorstw. Korzystając z oficjalnych danych statystycznych, stworzono panelowy zestaw danych obejmujący wszystkie regiony Ukrainy na lata 2015-2019. Przeprowadzono modelowanie podłużne ze specyfikacją efektów stałych. Stwierdzono pozytywny wpływ zmiany całkowitych dochodów i wydatków gospodarstw domowych oraz zmiany wskaźników handlu zagranicznego oraz negatywny wpływ zmiany produktu regionalnego brutto i zmiany wyników ekonomicznych dużych przedsiębiorstw na liczbę małych przedsiębiorstw i mikroprzedsiębiorstw w regionie.

Kryzys uważany jest obecnie za zjawisko ekonomiczne na trwałe wpisane w działalność przedsiębiorstw. Analiza zjawisk kryzysowych w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem prowadzi do wskazania źródeł i przyczyn jego powstawania. Mogą one leżeć wewnątrz przedsiębiorstwa, jak również pochodzić z jego otoczenia. Teorie powstałe na gruncie zainteresowania badaczy dotyczą metod identyfikacji przyczyn oraz wpływu kryzysu na przedsiębiorstwo. Duże firmy i korporacje posiadają wypracowane modele analizowania sygnałów zbliżającego się kryzysu oraz procedury określające zasady postępowania w warunkach kryzysu. Mikroprzedsiębiorstwa nie mają wystarczającej wiedzy oraz menedżerów, którzy są w stanie dostrzec zbliżający się kryzys oraz sformułować zalecenia zapobiegające jego rozwojowi. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja zachowań organizacyjnych mikroprzedsiębiorstw w warunkach kryzysu. Przedstawione zostały w nim badania własne zachowań mikroprzedsiębiorstw na podstawie branży cukierniczej. 
Crisis, as an economic phenomenon, has always accompanied enterprises. The causes of crisis can be both internal, and external in relation to companies. Numerous theories exist, based on the interests of researchers, concerning the methods of identifying the reasons of crises, and measuring their influence on businesses. Examples of companies that failed to cope with a crisis confirm the thesis that a crisis may affect every enterprise. Large companies possess prepared models, for analysing the signals of an approaching recession. Micro enterprises are equipped with neither the knowledge, nor the managers, to formulate procedures of preventing the development of a crisis. The aim of this article is to present the organizational behaviours of micro enterprises in crisis situations. These are shown on the basis of the author’s proprietary research of micro enterprises, on the example of the women-clothing branch.

W artykule poruszono tematykę zapotrzebowania na informację finansową w mikro i małym przedsiębiorstwie. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie problemu z dostępem do informacji finansowej w działalności gospodarczej, w której nie prowadzi się ewidencji księgowo-finansowej odpowiadającej takiej, jaka wymagana jest od spółek prawa handlowego. W artykule wymienione zostały bariery w pozyskiwaniu informacji finansowej w mikro i małych przedsiębiorstwach. Część badawcza oparta została o próbę uzyskania informacji finansowej z podatkowej księgi przychodów i rozchodów oraz rozliczeń bezgotówkowych usługowej działalności z rynku usług prawnych. Artykuł zakończony jest wnioskami oraz wyznaczeniem dalszego kierunku badań w obszarze kontroli informacji finansowej w przedsiębiorstwach mikro i małych.
The article covers the topic of financial information demand in micro and small enterprises. The purpose of the paper is to stress the problem with an access to financial information in micro and small enterprises. The article lists and describes barriers in financial information gathering in micro and small enterprises. The research part of the article is based on the gathering and analyzing financial information from the revenue and expense ledger and non-cash settlements in a law firm. The article ends with conclusions from the conducted analysis and designations for the future research in the field of micro and small enterprise financial information gathering for the operational and strategic management purposes.

Zakres informacyjny sprawozdania finansowego małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw zależy od ich wielkości. Wartość sumy bilansowej, przychody ze sprzedaży i poziom zatrudnienia to wielkości, od których zależy poziom szczegółowości sprawozdania finansowego. Do ustawy o rachunkowości, w ślad za rozwiązaniami UE, wprowadzane są kolejne uproszczenia sprawozdań finansowych małych firm. Powinno to istotnie zmniejszyć ich obciążenia związane z prowadzeniem ksiąg rachunkowych.
The information scope of the financial statements of small and medium-sized enterprises depends on their size. The value of total assets, revenues from sales and employment levels that size, which determine the level of detail in the financial statements. To the Accounting Act, in the wake of EU developments, they are introduced to simplify further the financial statements of small companies. This should significantly reduce the burden of keeping accounts.

The aim of the paper is to evaluate the economic conditions of the micro-enterprises from the Lodz region based on statistical data from the years 2008–2010. In-depth knowledge of this sector, its specificity, the general economic situation and the barriers to development may facilitate better understanding of the needs and business conditions of micro-firms. The analysis refers to the Lodz region, not the Lodz Metropolitan Area, because detailed statistics about counties are not available.
