Organizations face irreversible and reflective change derived from the growing trend of using business models based on information technology. Strategies for the digital transformation of business involve human creativity, knowledge, and the technology necessary to generate innovations that provide organizations competitive advantages. Consequently, knowledge management can boost the processes of organizations to adapt to the current socioeconomic environment. This work proposes a knowledge management model for small and medium-sized companies to promote improvements to their processes by collecting available intellectual capital in a highly changing environment. The proposed model includes the stages of diagnosis and planning of knowledge management, acquisition, storage, distribution, use, and transformation.

The activities related to the project led to the clarification of different aspects of business activities that can lead to successful and/or unsuccessful entrepreneurial activities. For the purpose of this article, we have selected eight research questions from Slovakia that are currently relevant to the topic of the article. We outline the main obstacles to business success in Slovakia, we characterize external factors that created business difficulties and three questions deal with marketing and marketing communication, because standing in a strong competitive environment requires, among other things, the ability to sell one´s business to customers. Opis:
Purpose. To disclose the effectiveness of management of the development of medium and small business in Ukraine. Methods: The study uses descriptive method based on a literature review. Results: In the industrialized countries of the world, medium, small enterprises as well as business involved individuals – entrepreneurs play an important role in ensuring development of national economies. They create new jobs and are the basis for training of highly skilled managers. Therefore, these cоuntries through taxуs and other cоnditions providе favourable еnvironment for the devеlopment of small and mеdium businesses. To support small and medium enterprises in foreign countries governmental policy include their involvement into the state contracts execution, provision of loan guarantees, corporate tax rates reduction, full dismissal from income tax during first years of an enterpise performance, the introduction of accelerated depreciation of buildings, encouragement of capital investments. Understanding the important role of medium and small enterprises in ensuring the development of the country's economy has encouraged Ukrainian legislators to introduce a simplified system of taxation of small enterprises and a special regime for taxation of individuals-entrepreneurs. These changes in the Ukrainian taxation system have given impetus to the development of small and medium businesses. However, the lack of an effective regulatory policy and system of legal protection as well as an increase in the tax burden due to the financial and economic crisis do not allow such enterprises to play a key role in the Ukrainian economy. So, to stimulate the development of small and medium-sized enterprises Ukraine should not be limited to introducing a preferential taxation regime for them, but should take advantage of other countries’ experience implementation. Considering foreign experience and analysis of the small and medium business activity in Ukraine have shown that besides the preferential tax regime, many other factors such as policy of the state investments and innovations promoting, getting loans, conducting training of young leaders, assistance in establishing cooperation with large domestic enterprises, and access to international markets, as well as protection against unlawful encroachment have made significant influence on its development. Therefore, creation of favourable tax, legal, financial-credit, investment and innovation environment, involvement in state orders fulfillment and promotion of foreign economic activity should become the basis for the development of small and medium businesses and the economy of Ukraine.

Opis:
Small enterprises are a key source of employment, economic growth, innovation and productivity in advanced as well as emerging economies and as such they are a crucial sector of an economy. Access to financing plays an important role for the small enterprise sector in any economy. Based on previous empirical studies, it is known that small enterprises tend to suffer from limited access to financial resources across the globe. This study aims to investigate the current state of small enterprise financing although the data within the Polish context appears to be limited. While not every small enterprise has an opportunity to grow at a fast pace and turn into a much bigger entity, most owner-managers are concerned about financing their business, in order to sustain their business operations. The reality is that every business can experience some sort of financial trouble. Small enterprises are the ones that require more attention as they constitute a vital part of the Polish economy, their survival rate can have a significant impact on the economy. As such, analysis of small enterprise financing is called for due to the high vulnerability of these businesses.

Business models and business model change have drawn increasing attention from both researchers and practitioners across various disciplines, including the domain of entrepreneurship. However, even though the importance of business model innovation as a driver of firm performance has been widely acknowledged, empirical studies explaining the business model change remain limited. This study contributes to prior research by examining the effects of effectual and causation-based decisionmaking logics on the degree of business model change in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland. The findings of hierarchical regression analysis show that both causation and effectuation-based logics have positive effects on business model change, thereby highlighting the need for both strategizing and seizing of opportunities in business model development.

The long-term effort of the EU countries, as well as other advanced economies is to create quality and stable conditions for their development in order to be able to respond to all the possible changes in the business environment that is being changed to more and more comprehensive in the recent time. Purpose of the article: The objective of the contribution is to examine administrative and legislative obstacles to SMEs business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the quantification of the differences in perceiving legislative and administrative obstacles to business by entrepreneurs in both countries. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted within SMEs in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2019. The research sample included 641 SMEs, 312 from the Czech Republic and 329 from Slovakia. We focused on 5 dimensions related to legislative and administrative obstacles to SMEs business within which selected statements were examined. Contingency tables were used to analyze the ratios of the examined variables. Findings & Value added: The differences detected in both countries in the respondents´ perception and assessment are evidence of the changes in the business environment of both countries, giving rise to the questions about the extent to which the legislative and administrative obstacles, as well as the obstacles related to law enforcement and bureaucracy are acceptable and by which groups of entrepreneurs. The results of the research provide valuable findings for the creators of regional and national policies, and represent a valuable basis for the creation of the concepts focused on the SMEs´ development in both countries.  The results of the study also support the implementation of follow-up research in this area that will reveal other determinants affecting the development of SMEs. They also create a valuable platform for the construction of national and international benchmarking indicators in this area and the implementation of comparative analyses. This will also support the methodological area necessary for a creation of high-quality concepts and strategies.

The aim of the paper is to present an overview of the theoretical basis and stages of the process of opportunities exploration and exploitation in the development of innovativeness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and its preliminary empirical verification on the basis of experience derived from economic practice. The aim of the paper is realized based on the author’s own empirical research carried out in the form of a case study conducted among 5 innovative SME companies in Poland. The results indicate that the analyzed companies associate opportunities directly with entrepreneurship and the development of innovative activity. They take various actions that are part of theoretical principles of effective opportunities exploration and exploitation, which allows them to obtain a number of pro-innovative benefits and which supports the creation of competitive advantage.
