    Artykuł porusza aspekt współczesnych kierunków projektowania produktów dla dzieci, a w szczególności wzornictwa sprzętów do rehabilitacji, jak również z obszaru medycyny dla najmłodszych użytkowników. Omówione zostały wybrane przykłady i niektóre elementy tej rozległej problematyki. Celem opracowania jest refleksja nad wpływem designu na samopoczucie małych pacjentów w obliczu konieczności kontaktu ze środowiskiem medycznym. Tłem projektowania tego typu rozwiązań jest ogólna problematyka projektowania wyrobów dla dzieci. Wątki te osadzone są w kontekście współczesnego wzornictwa i długoterminowego oddziaływania rozwiązań projektowych na człowieka, co stanowi treść rozważań końcowych autorki tekstu.
    The article deals with the aspect of contemporary directions in the design of products for children, focusing in particular on the equipment for rehabilitation and from the field of medicine for the youngest users. Selected examples and some elements of this vast issue are discussed. The aim of the study is to reflect on the impact of design on the well-being of young patients who face the need to interact with the medical environment. The background of designing this type of solutions is the general topic of designing products for children. These themes are set in the context of contemporary design and the long-term impact of design solutions on people, which is the content of the author’s summarising reflections.

    Design, czyli wzornictwo to pojęcie, które na stałe weszło do naszego słownika w połowie XIX w. w okresie rewolucji przemysłowej, kiedy rzemieślników wytwarzających ręcznie unikatowe przedmioty zastąpiły bardziej efektywne maszyny wytwarzające na dużą skalę powtarzalne produkty. Produkcja masowa wymagała przemyślanego projektu i stawiała przed projektantami nowe wyzwania takie jak: optymalizacja kształtów - tak by można je było wytwarzać maszynowo oraz standaryzację produktu, dzięki czemu możliwe było zaspokojenie potrzeb jak najszerszego grona odbiorców. Design zatem, może być rozumiany jako projekt lub jako cecha oznaczająca wygląd produktu – zaprojektowanego specjalnie z myślą o produkcji seryjnej.

    The presentation introduces recent advances in networked embedded computing, namely cyber-physical systems (CPSs). CPS is characterized by a tight integration of embedded computing with physical processes, as well as use of advanced networking technologies. Cyber-physical systems demonstrate an extremely broad potential for new applications in general. Those in medicine can dramatically change numerous healthcare procedures and medical workflows. At the same time, designing of a cyber-physical system comprises many challenges. These challenges are related to required dependability, heterogeneity, multidisciplinary design team, and multirole human-machine interfaces among others. The main design strategies for cyber-physical systems are design model-based. They need however to be extended with knowledge modeling and support for distributed multidisciplinary collaboration.

    A medical centre is one of the most complex building types to design because it requires complete understanding of work organisation and the disabilities faced by patients. Based on personal observations and the literature, selected ophthalmic centres around the world were analysed, with a focus on design solutions that improve their functionality. Instituto de Microcirurgia Ocular is characterised by a very well-thought-out arrangement of rooms. The Harkness Eye Institute is an excellent example of the modernisation of an almost century-old building. During the design of the Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre, inspiration was sought in the medical world, creating an interior that was extremely child-friendly.
    Ośrodek medyczny stanowi jeden z najbardziej złożonych typów budynków do zaprojektowania, ponieważ wymaga pełnego zrozumienia problematyki organizacji pracy personelu oraz niepełnosprawności z jakimi zmaga się chory. Na podstawie własnych obserwacji i dostępnej literatury poddano analizie wybrane ośrodki okulistyczne na świecie zwracając uwagę na zastosowane rozwiązania projektowe, które poprawiają ich funkcjonalność. Instituto de Microcirurgia Ocular charakteryzuje się bardzo przemyślanym układem pomieszczeń. Harkness Eye Institute to doskonały przykład modernizacji prawie stuletniego budynku. Z kolei przy tworzeniu Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre szukano inspiracji w świecie medycznym tworząc wnętrze niezwykle przyjazne dla dzieci.

    With a growing number of coronavirus patients worldwide, military and civilian transport aircraft are increasingly being used for civilian medical evacuation duties (MEDEVAC) on time-critical flights. This article deals with the possibility of converting an aircraft fleet in the Czech Republic to MEDEVAC. The indication for the analysis of the possibility of transforming transport aircraft was the past and current pandemic situation in the Czech Republic. The main research question is how to implement the modification of a selected airline of the Czech Republic to MEDEVAC. An analysis of the technical data of selected aircraft from Airbus and Boeing was used to investigate this problem. Further, an analysis of the medical equipment required for the MEDEVAC aircraft category was also performed using equipment manufactured in the Czech Republic. The results obtained by the analysis and spatial arrangement of the aircraft deck for the transport of patients with medical equipment confirmed the possibility of such a transformation within the Czech Republic. We consider it important to elaborate on a project that would solve, in detail, all the steps of the conversion of a transport aircraft to MEDEVAC.

    This paper contains a description of design and construction process of innovative medical tools. The description take into account the reasons initiate an action under this process, the factors that influence on process and the range of end-user participation in the process. The author undertook to try to confirm the need to develop of tools to support communication between the participants of user-oriented design process.

    Introduction and objective. Using the concepts of Ulrich’s theory of supportive design and Malkin’s healing environment, an eye tracking experiment was designed in order to measure respondents’ reactions while looking at visualisations of various interiors, with the aim of verifying whether certain parameters of an interior are related to emotional reactions in terms of positive stimulation, and the sense of security and comfort. Materials and method. 12 boards were designed, incorporating standard features of an interior, i.e. (1) proportions, (2) lighting, (3) colour scheme of a room, as well as (4) the colours and spatial arrangement of furnishings. Respondents’ reactions were recorded with an eye tracker Tobii TX300 and supplemented by self-descriptions of emotional reactions. Results. The results showed that the varying spatial and colour arrangements presented in the interior visualisations provoked different emotional responses, confirmed by pupil reaction parameters, as measured by the eye tracking device. Conclusions. Architectural space can have a diverse emotional significance and impact on an individual’s emotional state. This is an important conclusion from the point of view of optimising and creating the so-called supportive and healing environment. The results have implications for the interpretation of the pupil diameter as an index of emotional reactions to different architectural space visualisations. Testing the eye tracker as a method helpful in diagnosing the emotional reactions to features of the interior is justified, and can provide an effective tool for early diagnosis of the impact of architectural space on the well-being of individuals. It can also be a good form of testing the emotional significance of architectural designs before they are implemented.

    This paper presents new trends in interface design of medical ultrasound devices and explains the basics of implementing usability engineering in accordance with international standards. The article also presents a preliminary plan of a methodology for prototyping touch-based and standard-control interfaces for mobile ultrasonic devices.
