In this study, effects of mechanical activation in the chlorination roasting and water leaching route known as CaCl2 process and developed for the production of potassium chloride (KCl) from potassium feldspar ores were studied. A microcline containing K-feldspar ore with 10.89% K2O was first intensively dry milled by a planetary ball mill and mixed with calcium chloride (CaCl2) and then roasted at temperatures up to 1000 °C to obtain KCl that will be finally dissolved by the water leaching. Potassium recovery by water leaching increased rapidly up to 800 °C. At higher temperatures, the recovery decreased fast due to the evaporation of KCl. According to the K recovery values per unit energy consumed, the optimum roasting temperature was determined as 750 °C and the milling time was 15 min. It was concluded that intensive milling causes mechanical activation of the microcline to reduce the chlorination roasting temperature, which triggers a rise in the K recovery by the water leaching.

Opis:
One group of plants commonly used for solids combustion are grate furnaces. These furnaces come in numerous design solutions, dedicated to fuels with different properties and plants with different capacities. The use of grate furnaces presents the as-yet unresolved challenge of how to ensure the most favourable air distribution along the length of the grate. The paper proposes a design solution to ensure proper air distribution along the length of the grate. An additional advantage of the proposed solution is the intensification of heat exchange in the furnace, enabling the boiler's circulating medium to be heated more efficiently. Both of the advantages allow an increase in the energy efficiency of the plant and therefore contribute to a reduction in the amount of fuel burned and CO2 emissions.

Reliability and maintenance analysis of hydraulic positive machines basicly focused on the processes of their wear and failure. But in order to correctly assess the mechanical and volumetric efficiency of a hydraulic motor, both at the stage of development research or at the stage of control tests during its exploitation, the working volume of this motor must be correctly determined. Therefore this paper proposes a new method of assessment of the size of the working volume of a hydraulic motor. It has been shown that the hydraulic motor absorbency per one revolution of this motor shaft is a non-linear function of pressure drop in working mechanism of the motor and non-linear function of motor rotational speed. Thus the relation between the working volume of a hydraulic motor and the pressure drop in the motor working mechanism is a non-linear function. This working volume as a funcition of pressure drop has been called the actual working volume. The correctness of the proposed method was confirmed experimentally.

The paper presents the schemes of various equipment for the mechanical treatment of the industrial and domestic wastewater, which allows removing it from the main part of the pollution. An examination of the shortcomings of the known equipment with the aim of its improvement was conducted. As a result, an installation scheme for continuous high-performance mechanical wastewater treatment was proposed. In contrast to the known equipment, the proposed installation provides a three-staged treatment of wastewater with the help of the two pairs of gratings – for preliminary treatment (removal of large-size pollutions) and by filtration through the two metallic sieves – for normal and fine treatment (removal of small-size mechanical pollutions). The installation consists of highly-efficient appliances for the cleaning of filtering elements in the course of realization of the working process, which provides stable high productivity of treatment. The installation has simple reliable design and low energy expenses. The paper contains the formulas for determining of main operational parameters of the installation: the change of the cross-sectional area of the filtering elements and productivity of the working process, periodicity of cleaning of gratings and sieves, the necessary electric power of installations drives. These formulas can be a basis for further research of installation and for elaboration of a method of its design calculation.

In this study, the mechanical losses of a single-cylinder spark-ignited Robin EY15 engine were experimentally determined and analysed by the indicated method. The effects of the load and speed on the mechanical loss balance were also analysed. The tests were conducted on a test bench equipped with a DC motor generator at speeds between 1500 and 4800 min-1 and three load levels of 25, 50, and 100%. The results showed that the mechanical efficiency ranges between 22.5% and 83.2% for the tested engine and the evaluated operation points, attaining the highest efficiency under the full load and 2100 min-1. However, at this load level, the efficiency is reduced to 29% with the increase in the rotation speed. Concurrently, the pumping losses contribute up to 58.7% of the total losses, which indicates that their contribution is even higher than the sum of the other components under low load conditions. However, as the load increases, this contribution decreases to 18% for lower rotation regimes. In addition, the experimental results of the total mechanical losses were compared with some numerical correlations found in the literature. Finally, some empirical correlations were proposed for the mechanical efficiency calculation of the tested engine.

The paper presents a new solution of asymmetrical mini disk tools for mining head of roadheader designed for hard and very hard rock mining. In the first part the benefits of disk tools used in TBM's and special tunneling machines were presented. Next part presents the results of works and laboratory tests performed for developing of new solution of asymmetrical mini disk tools. On the basis of these results new mining head equipped with mini disk tools with a complex trajectory was designed. The results of field tests with different constructional and material solutions of asymmetrical mini disk tools were presented. The directions for further development were described.

The basics of convection, mechanical, hydraulic and bubbling mixing used in methane fermentation technologies are discussed. The impact of the intensity of mechanical mixing on the quality and quantity of biogas as well as the course of the fermentation process was evaluated. The influence of the paddle agitator speed rate on quasi-continuous fermentation was investigated. Fermentation was carried out under mesophilic conditions with a hydraulic retention time of 21 days. A 10% increase in biogas production was observed with the increase of the speed of mixing from 60 to 70 min-1 without a significant change in the composition of biogas and other process parameters.

Efektywność energetyczna stała się głównym celem polityki energetycznej na świecie. Uwarunkowała politykę wobec sektorów energochłonnych, takich jak transport drogowy. Poprawa efektywności energetycznej może jednak prowadzić do zmian w popycie na usługi energetyczne, które zrównoważyłyby niektóre z uzyskanych oszczędności energii. W związku z tym prognozy oszczędności energii mogą być zawyżone. W artykule przeanalizowano efektywność energetyczną transportu drogowego w modelowym przedsiębiorstwie usługowym w Polsce. Użyto powszechnej metodologii do oszacowania funkcji zapotrzebowania na energię przy użyciu algorytmu opisanego w PN-EN 16247-4 Audity energetyczne: Część 4 – Transport. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że osiągnięta efektywność energetyczna jest w dużej mierze zachowana.
Energy efficiency has become the main goal of energy policy in the world. It conditioned policy towards energy-intensive sectors, such as road transport. However, improving energy efficiency may lead to changes in demand for energy services that would offset some of the energy savings achieved. Accordingly, energy saving forecasts may be overstated. The article analyzes the energy efficiency of road transport in a model service enterprise in Poland. A common methodology was used to estimate the energy demand function using the algorithm described in PN-EN 16247-4 Energy audits: Part 4 - Transport. The obtained results illustrate the average fuel efficiency at the level of 78%. The analysis of indicators shows that the analyzed years 2014÷2016 do not differ with respect to the operating speed and the time of operation of the vehicles. Compared to 2014, other years are marked by a decrease (around 15%) in vehicle speed. In 2016, the lowest equivalent fuel consumption was recorded compared to 2014 (7% difference) and 2015 (17% difference). The average annual decrease in fuel consumption of 8% in energy consumption in transport. It was also analyzed, by simulation, that in three years of fleet use reduction of the environmental impact may not be achieved after improving the efficiency.

In this article various types of dust created by mining activities have been discussed. Especially the dust which is formed during mechanical rock-cutting. Classification of particular kinds of dust considering its particle size, silicose content as well as inhalation level has been discussed and effect on the pneumoconiosis. Different ways of polish mining dust suppression have been presented and their efficiency regarding maximum allowed concentration (MAC) have been analyzed in the work security aspect.

The problem of energy tests of hydraulic systems with hydraulic cylinders, seemingly simple displacement machines, is more complex than that of rotary hydraulic systems. The results of the researches provide an insight into the impact of external loads, required speed, structure of the power supply system, viscosity of hydraulic oil on friction loss, and the efficiency of cylinder drive. The hydraulic cylinder is the strongest structure in the system. Failure of the system is most likely due to failure of the pump supplying the cylinder. The high load of the pump is often caused by the very low energy efficiency of the cylinder, which, despite a relatively low external load, requires high inlet pressure due to large mechanical losses of friction between the piston and the cylinder and between the piston rod and gland. These losses depend on the type of seal used, its shape, the material it is made from, pre-clamp, and the operating parameters of the cylinder. Improperly sealed or assembled seals can cause energy losses of up to 25%. Due to the use of moving seals in the hydraulic cylinder, its energy behaviour is completely different compared to the energy behaviour of a rotary motor, which does not have any seals. The friction force connected with the work of the sealing joints and the mechanical efficiency of the cylinder are determined not only by the external load but also by the method of the applicable supply of the cylinder resulting from the throttling structure, and in particular the pressure level generated in the discharge chamber of the cylinder.

W artykule przedstawiono najnowsze rozwiązania i wdrożenia osadzarek pulsacyjnych typu KOMAG. Każda aplikacja poprzedzona była wstępnymi badaniami laboratoryjnymi, umożliwiającymi odpowiedni dobór urządzenia. Badania laboratoryjne pozwalają na prognozowanie przyszłych wyników oraz dobór układu technologicznego (zastosowane urządzenia oraz rozwiązania konstrukcyjne). W artykule zamieszczono przykład wyników badań laboratoryjnych, których celem było określenie możliwości zastosowania oraz określenie typu wzbogacalnika grawitacyjnego.
The latest solutions and implementations of KOMAG pulsatory jigs are presented. Each application was preceded by preliminary laboratory tests enabling selection of the device. Laboratory tests allow prediction of future results and selection of the technological system (devices and design solutions applied). An example of laboratory test results, the purpose of which was to determine the applicability and determination of the type of pulsatory jig, is presented in the paper.

As a result of theoretical and experimental efforts, innovative scientifically grounded conceptual approach to select hydrostatic and mechanical transmissions (HMT) for wheel tractors designed for agricultural operations has been proposed. The approach is characterized by focusing on kinematic parameters, power parameters, and energy parameters of the transmission while performing technological operation “plowing”; it also takes into consideration braking features of a tractor in the context of various braking types. Application of the approach offers an opportunity to improve technical level of transmissions while updating current wheel tractors and designing new ones; moreover, that will better controllability as well as braking efficiency. The conceptual approach developed on the basis of proposed techniques and applied mathematical models makes possible to determine rational structure and basic design parameters of two-flow HMTs while designing; it also helps formulate recommendations concerning a technique for service braking and emergency braking under specific operational conditions.

Knowing the data from drilling works which had been carried out in a given area gives the opportunity to develop the next borehole with great precision. An important element of the design is to analyze and interpret data in detail, which can be used during the following drilling process. Based on a literature analysis, certain methods of the selection of drill bits have been indicated. Mechanic specific energy curves of drill bits applied in drilling works in northern Poland have been compared. The drilling works took place in the Precambrian platform. The compared mechanic specific energy curves were calculated with the use of R. Teale and H. Rabia equations. A relation between mechanical specific energy and pressure loss in polycrystalline diamond compact drill bits was determined. New drilling ratio TSE - Total Specific Energy which considers hydraulic power energy in the nozzles of the drill bit was calculated.

Budynki coraz częściej wyposażane są w wentylację mechaniczną. W wybranych przypadkach jest to wymóg określony w obowiązujących aktach prawnych. Zwiększa się również liczba obiektów, gdzie inwestor świadomy korzyści wynikających z zastosowania tego typu wentylacji decyduje się na jej wykorzystanie bez konieczności spełnienia jakichkolwiek wymogów. Ważny jest aspekt zapewnienia komfortu użytkowego, ale też efektywne zużycie energii poprzez optymalne sterowanie pracy centrali wentylacyjnej, współpracującej z regulatorami zmiennego przepływu powietrza VAV. Podczas prezentowanych badań in situ wyznaczone zostały zależności wynikające ze współpracy elementów badanego układu. Stanowią one podstawę do optymalizacji algorytmów sterowania współpracy: centrala wentylacyjna – VAV.
Increasing number of buildings is equipped with mechanical ventilation. In selected cases it is required by the applicable legislation. Nevertheless, in many cases, the investor is aware of the benefits of using this type of ventilation and therefore decides to use it without having to meet any requirements. The aspect of user comfort is very important, but the efficient use of energy through the optimal control of the operation of the air handling unit, which works with VAV airflow regulators should be taken into account. In the presented „in situ” studies the dependences between the cooperation of the elements of the studied system were determined. They are the basis for the optimization of control algorithms of the cooperation of the air handling unit with VAV airflow regulators.
