Opis:
Expert methods belong to the group of heuristic methods, whose meaning plays more and more significant role in economic phenomena analysis. Data provided in such way should be characterized by good quality. The essential problem in expert research seems to be the problem of reliability of provided information, and what follows, its representativeness. In the article, the expertmathematical method was presented as a method of determining the minimum size of the group of experts, which has a direct impact on research representativeness with assistance of experts. Presentation of the method is supported with empirical example.
Metody ekspertowe należą do grupy metod heurystycznych, których znaczenie w obecnym czasie odgrywa coraz większą rolę w analizowaniu zjawisk ekonomicznych. Dostarczone w ten sposób dane powinny się charakteryzować odpowiednią jakością. Istotny w badaniach ekspertowych wydaje się problem wiarygodności dostarczonych informacji, a co się z tym wiąże – ich reprezentatywności. W artykule zaprezentowano metodę eksperckomatematyczną jako metodę określania minimalnej liczebności grupy ekspertów. Prezentacja metody została poparta przykładami empirycznymi.

Opis:
A mathematical programming method to optimize the distribution field of a truss-like material is presented. The densities and angles of members are optimized in two separate procedures in each iteration. An explicit sub-problem in a variable separation form is established at every iteration procedure. At each sub-problem, the stress constraint function is expanded into a trigonometric series of the member angles. According to the extreme condition, the optimal orientations of members are determined. The member densities are optimized using the method of moving asymptotes (MMA). Two examples demonstrate that the optimal truss-like structures are very close to analytic solutions.

Понятие вредности сорняков все чаще появляется в сельскохозяйственной научной литературе. Эти пороги утке были определены эмпирически и приводятся в практических рекомендациях относительно применения гербипидов. Однако все еще отсутствует их математическая формулировка, а также уравнения для расчетов. В труде приводится метод определения порогов вредности биологической и экономической сорняков, при использовании параметров уравнения регрессии описывающего зависимость урожаев от засоренности. Представлен также порядок статистической проверки эмпирических данных, составляющих исходный материал для определения зависимости между засорением и урожаем. Формулы на исчисление порогов вредности были пополнены примерами на базе результатов опытов и примечаниями относительно их применения в оценке засоренности, а также потребностей и целесообразности борьбы с ней.
The notion of harmfulness of weeds can be encountered more and more often in the agricultural scientific literature. Even thresholds of this harmfulness have been determined empirically and quoted in practical recommendations. There is only a lack of their mathematical formulation and equations for calculation. The method of determination of the thresholds of biological and economic harmfulness of weeds using the parameters of the regression equation describing the dependence of yields on the weediness degree, is presented in the paper. Also the process of statistical verification of empirical data constituting a starting numerical material for determination of the relationship between weediness and yield is presented. Formulae for calculation of the thresholds are supplemented with examples based on the results of experiments as well as with remarks concerning their application is estimation of the weediness degree and the purposefulness of its control.

The paper presents the method of assessment of learning outcomes acquirement by students. The analysis is based on the results of the final matriculation exam in mathematics. For crisp and both types of fuzzy relations, cut scores (passing scores) can be defined along with the method of preparing rankings of students. The advantage of applying type 2 fuzzy relations is the lack of the necessity for experts to agree to one level (one number) of verification of learning outcomes by items created for the examination. Based on the results of the exam and experts’ knowledge, the decision support system for calculating the levels of learning outcomes acquirement, making decisions about passing the examination and preparing rankings of students, can be developed. Additionally, the rank reversal phenomenon does not burden the proposed method.

Opis:
Educating young software engineers and IT experts is a great challenge nowadays. Still new technologies are used in a practical approach and many of them come from formal methods. To help future software experts in the understanding of formal methods grounded in semantics, learning software that illustrates and visualizes important techniques seems to be very fruitful. In this paper, we present software, which handles the arithmetic and Boolean expressions, their analysis, evaluation, drawing the syntax tree and the other techniques with the expressions. This software is devoted as a teaching tool for teachers when explaining appropriate theory and for students for self-studying and making their own experiments. Furthermore, this software is an integral part of our software package for several semantic methods.

The study presents results of research investigations conducted in one elementary school in connection with implementation of mathematics teaching in English using the CLIL method. The aim of the presented case study was to contribute to uncovering the influence of this teaching method on the academic results of pupils in mathematics and the study outlines briefly an analysis of the pupils’ strategies used when solving word problems at elementary school level. At the same time, the paper also presents possible causes of the changes, which were identified in the pupils’ ways of solving word problems.

This article briefly introduces the characteristics of ships' electrical power networks, and an existing system is described as an example. A mathematical model of a selected power system, including generators with a drive and its loads, is presented. The algorithm implementing the author's numerical method, named 'the average step voltages method', is described. The chosen numerical method is notable for its stability and high accuracy, even in combination with a large integration step size. Software and hardware applications of the RT AVR tester are also shown. To check the adequacy of the simulations using the implemented model, experimental measurements were carried out. The measurements, including dynamic states, obtained by the computer tester with the AVR system, as well as the physical model with the AVR system, are summarized. Possibilities for usage in the marine industry in the future are also outlined.

Flotation kinetic models can be applied to describe the flotation process and to predict mineral recoveries. However, the size composition of the target minerals in the feed ore fluctuates considerably, resulting in insufficient accuracy with flotation kinetic models. There have been many studies that focus on the investigation of flotation kinetics with different particle sizes, while the optimization methods for flotation kinetic models based on particle size effects have not been reported. In this paper, flotation tests, optical microscope observations, and particle size analysis were used to identify the reasons for the decrease in accuracy of the flotation kinetic model due to changes in the composition of molybdenite particle size. Additionally, an optimization method for the flotation kinetic model was developed based on the particle size effect. The test results show that the accuracy of the flotation kinetic model for fixed particle size minerals is very high, but the predicted results for flotation recoveries of different particle size mineral mixtures have large deviations. The poor accuracy might be due to the autogenous carrier effect caused by the particle size composition fluctuating considerably. The optimization method for the flotation kinetic model is based on the particle size effect. The model can accurately describe the flotation process of molybdenite with different size compositions of molybdenite and predict the flotation recovery of molybdenite.

DEMATEL technique is a graphical representation method to deal with complex systems. The final analyzed cause and effect categorization would be fundamentally dependent on the threshold value setting. This research is intended to present some mathematical models for calculating the threshold value in the DEMATEL method. The min(max) operator has been intentionally used for considering three equations to identify the threshold value. Additionally, the proposed mathematical equations are gradually developed to gain more useful data to yield a threshold value as well. Particularly, the expert’s initial scoring for building the primary matrix would also be applied in one equation. Results show eliciting an expert’s opinions regarding the value of a threshold value determination leads to setting relatively high thresholds. But, there would be an equation which takes advantage of more data derived from the total influence matrix T. Moreover, a span of different threshold values is gained by making use of the Hamacher t-conorms operator which especially would cause better complexity management of the final total matrix T based on expert’s opinions. As a contribution to this research, threshold value determination is developed mathematically by making use of the direct data gained by the total matrix T. Besides combining data derived from total matrix T, the initial influence direct matrix given by experts, a simpler aggregating procedure and no need for statistical information compared to special Lenth’s method hints at this research’s novelty as well.

One of the mathematical skills that must be possessed by students is the ability of mathematical representation, therefore the applied learning method should be able to facilitate the students to learn to represent the mathematical ability they have. The purpose of this study to determine the improvement of students' mathematical representation in mathematics learning using accelerated learning method. The research method used is Quasi Experiments with Nonequivalent (Pretest and Posttest) design of Control Group Design. The population in this study is the students of grade X in Pasundan Majalaya Senior High School by using Purposive Sampling technique. The samples involved in the study were 48 students of Pasundan Majalaya Senior High School, 24 students came from class X MIPA 1 (experimental class) and 24 students came from class X MIPA 3 (control class). The learning method is applied to the students of class X MIPA 1 is the method of accelerated learning whereas in the students of class X MIPA 3 is conventional methods. The result of mathematical representation of students 'mathematical representation shows that there is an improvement of ability for students' mathematical representation with gain value of 0.56 with middle criterion for class X MIPA 1 and 0.17 with lower criterion for class X MIPA 3.

This paper suggests an estimation method for ship’s hydrodynamic coefficients, which is based on the system identification method that calculates an optimum value in a mathematical way. For the purpose of modelling existing ships, this study collects real ship sea trial data as benchmarks. Prior to the optimization, a sensitivity analysis is carried out for easy and effective optimization. The simulation results using optimized coefficients agree well with corresponding benchmarks. Following this, with various trim and draught conditions, this study suggests new estimation formulas that concern all trim and draught conditions. Simulation results applying the estimation formulas are satisfactory in regard to a corresponding benchmark, compared to a result obtained by using an existing regression formula.

The paper presents the application of an indirect variant of the boundary element method (BEM) to solve the two-dimensional steady flow of a Stokes liquid. In the BEM, a system of differential equations is transformed into integral equations. This makes it possible to limit discretization to the border of the solution. Numerical discretization of the computational domain was performed with linear boundary elements, for which a constant value of unknown functions was assumed. The verification was carried out for the case of flow in a square cavity with one moving wall. The results obtained show that the use of approximations by simple linear functions is relatively easy for different shapes of the area, but the result may be affected by significant errors.

This study proposes a mathematical method for modeling the shape of apples, locules and pericarps with the use of Bézier curves. The concave and convex parts of apples cv. Ligol were described with three smoothly-joined Bézier curves. Contours were described based on images of an apple rotated at intervals of 36° relative to its natural axis of symmetry. A 3D model was formed by Bézier curves positioned along the apple’s meridians. The shape of the locule and the pericarp was described with the use of two smoothly-joined Bézier curves each, rotated relative to the apple’s longitudinal axis.

The paper presents major issues associated with the problem of modelling change output accelerometers. The presented solutions are based on the weighted least squares (WLS) method using transformation of the complex frequency response of the sensors. The main assumptions of the WLS method and a mathematical model of charge output accelerometers are presented in first two sections of this paper. In the next sections applying the WLS method to estimation of the accelerometer model parameters is discussed and the associated uncertainties are determined. Finally, the results of modelling a PCB357B73 charge output accelerometer are analysed in the last section of this paper. All calculations were executed using the MathCad software program. The main stages of these calculations are presented in Appendices A−E.

Rozumowanie teologiczne oparte na modelu jest obecne w wielu dziedzinach współczesnej teologii. Swoje uzasadnienie czerpie ono m.in. z książki I. Barboura Mity, modele, paradygmaty, w której Autor uprawomocnia stosowanie „modelu” – pojęcia wywodzącego się z nauk nowożytnych – w teologii. Podstawową zasadą tego uprawomocnienia jest analogia. Jacek Kempa w swoim artykule Relacje między modelami w soteriologii. Glossa do dyskusji o komplementarności” przedstawił właśnie takie rozumowanie teologiczne. Jego artykuł stał się inspiracją dla mojej polemiki z samą ideą stosowania modeli w teologii. Mój sprzeciw jest fundamentalny. Otóż wraz z zastosowaniem pojęcia „model” teologia przyjmuje „z dobrodziejstwem inwentarza” cały paradygmat nauki nowożytnej i swoje rozumowania prowadzi wewnątrz zasad logiki matematycznej. Twierdzę, że zastosowana przez Barboura analogia jest nieuprawniona, bo model jako kategoria matematyczna nie tworzy dobrego punktu wyjścia do analogii. Ważnym wątkiem w książce Barboura jest metafora. Udowadnia on, że metafory są po prostu modelami i właśnie jako modele odzyskują w nauce, a zwłaszcza w teologii, pełnoprawne miejsce. Jest to rozumienie metafory charakterystyczne dla filozofii analitycznej. Zupełnie inaczej analizują metaforę dwudziestowieczni filozofowie europejscy. Dla nich metafora jest pełnoprawnym i pierwotnym wyrazem ludzkiego języka. Sądzę, że teologia nie powinna uznawać metafor za modele, ale iść za analizami hermeneutyki europejskiej. Przedstawiony tu mój sprzeciw wobec używania modeli w teologii oraz interpretowania metafor jak modeli jest przyczynkiem do odpowiedzi na zasadnicze pytanie metodologiczne: czy myślenie w paradygmacie nauki nowożytnej, którego najwyższą formą jest matematyka, może stać się myśleniem własnym teologii? Według mnie ‒ nie. Takie myślenie jest czysto przedmiotowe i formalne. Nie ma w sobie żadnego otwarcia na to, co podmiotowe, ani na to, co zmysłowe. Tym bardziej nie jest w stanie posłużyć do wypowiadania „prawdy o Bogu”.
Model-based theological reasoning is present in many areas of modern theology. It derives its justification from, inter alia, from I. Barbour’s book Myths, Models, and Paradigms, in which the author validates the use of a model, a concept derived from modern sciences, in theology. The basic principle of this legitimation is an analogy. Jacek Kempa in his article Relacje między modelami w soteriologii. Glossa do dyskusji o komplementarności (roughly translated: Relationships between models in soteriology. Glossary to the discussion of complementarity) presented such theological reasoning. His article inspired my polemic with the very idea of using models in theology. My objection is fundamental. With the use of the concept of „a model”, theology adopts „with the benefit of inventory” the entire paradigm of modern science and guides its reasoning within the principles of mathematical logic. I argue that the analogy used by Barbour is illegitimate, because the model as a mathematical category does not provide a good starting point for the analogy. An important thread in Barbour’s book is the metaphor. He proves that metaphors are simply models and it is precisely as models that they regain their rightful place in science, especially in theology. It is an understanding of metaphor characteristic of analytic philosophy. Twentieth-century European philosophers analyze the metaphor in a completely different way. For them, the metaphor is a full-fledged and primal expression of the human language. I believe that theology should not take metaphors as models, but follow the analyses of the European hermeneutics. My opposition to the use of models in theology presented here and the interpretation of metaphors as models is a contribution to the answer to the fundamental methodological question: can thinking in the paradigm of modern science, the highest form of which is mathematics, become theology’s own thinking? In my opinion – no. Such thinking is purely objective and formal. There is no openness to the subjective nor to the sensual. Even less is it able to be used to express „the truth about God”.

Teachers’ attitudes and beliefs have a fundamental influence on the way of teaching and the efficiency of learning. This topic was also brought up in the didactic research in recent years, in connection with mathematics teachers as well.– To the best of our knowledge, however, a study that investigates this specific area (combinatorics) was not included. As combinatorics has a special role in connecting the development of mathematical thinking and teaching different areas, our short-time Project (Didactics Grant of the Hungarian Academy: Complex Mathematics Education in the 21st Century) focused on the teaching of combinatorics in Hungary. Our aim was to examine some aspects of this field in connection with Tamás Varga’s method and also teachers’ beliefs towards combinatorics with the help of a questionnaire. The main results of this survey are discussed below.

Opis:
The theoretical questions of mathematical modeling of agricultural production processes are described. Production of agricultural goods and foodstuffs is modeled except for the production of forage and involvement of equipment and techniques, buildings, infrastructure etc. The model is based on a division of economic and technological processes in agriculture into four stages specific for agribusiness. A mathematical description of four stages in used production functions is provided.

Opis:
In this paper we consider important classes of one dimensional environments, bending stiffness of which can be neglected. It is impossible to apply approximate analytical method of solution of mathematical models of dynamic processes. So justification of existence and uniqueness of solutions, carried out a qualitative their evaluation, based on numerical analysis are considering in this paper. Also the features of dynamic processes of some of examined class of systems are analyzed. Methods of qualitative study of oscillations for restricted and unrestricted bodies under the influence of the resistance forces, described in this paper are based on the general principles of the theory of nonlinear boundary value problems – Galerkin method and the method of monotonicity. Scientific novelty consists in generalization these methods of studying for nonlinear problems at new classes of oscillating systems, justification of solution correctness for specified mathematical models that have practical application in real engineering vibration systems.
