Opis:: The article presents the problem of quality management in the process of material selection for structural elements of a car dump truck. The study took into account the classical management pyramid and there was used the optimization method (generalized objective function). The center that manages the process of production / assembly of the dump truck should be the level of organization that has the highest degree of processing of required information and making strategic decisions in this respect. The design process of structural elements is carried out primarily in terms of the ability to provide adequate physical and mechanical properties in the process. There is a very strong tendency to reduce the own weight of the semi-trailers by increasing the weight of the load. This is an important criterion from the point of view of the economics of operation of technical facilities of this type. The article presents the results of the application of a generalized objective function in the field of material selection for construction elements of a dump truck. The analysis includes structural elements made of S355 steel and Hardox 400 and 450 fine-grain steel.

Opis:: Analytical hierarchy process, developed by Saaty, is a multi-criteria decision making method. It creates a hierarchy using the goal, decision criteria and decision alternatives, and sorts the various alternatives according to their relative importance. The aim in AHP is to choose the most suitable and important alternative, by making an arrangement from the most important to the least. In this study, a real life material selection application in a hotel building is described by using AHP method. Wall materials such as brick blocks, pumice concrete block, sand autoclaved aerated concrete blocks are decision alternatives and mechanical properties, physical properties, ease of application and costs of these materials are the decision factors. The analysis was performed based on the opinion of an expert and the most suitable alternative is selected. Also, it is concluded that the order related to the alternatives is reliable for the decision markers. Thus, a decision supporting method for a construction company using AHP applications is developed.

Opis:: Automotive industry is a very attractive area for young researchers to do continuous research and also it can be considered as an important thrust area as it is directly related to passenger safety. New developments in automotive sector can be seen in many domains like material selection, design, manufacturing etc. Since wrong selection directly leads to product failure, among these, the proper selection of a particular material can be treat as utmost priority. Hence, the present work discusses a methodology to select the best aluminium alloy for automobile panels among various alternates serving the same purpose. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods with entropy weighting criteria are implemented for finding the best material and the results are discussed.

Opis:: In this paper, statistical inferences in material selection of polymer matrix for natural fiber composite are presented. Hypothesis testing and confidence interval were used to evaluate the suitability of the sample for use as a matrix in natural fiber reinforced composites. The screening process for material selection was carried out using a stepwise regression method. Then, the ranking process in material selection was conducted using an estimation of performance score (PS) for mechanical properties such as impact strength (IS), elongation at break (E) and tensile strength (TS). Ten types of polymer were involved in the study. The final selection revealed that polyamide (PA6), polyurethanes (PUR) and polypropylene (PP) are the potential candidates to manufacture hand-brake levers according to IS, E and TS, respectively. Here, it was found that the score for Tp (thermoplastic) is better than Ts (thermoset) in terms of IS. In contrast, the Ts offered a better score result than, Tp, with respect to E and TS. The results of statistical measurements using statistical modelling prove that the data analysis can be used as a part of the decision making in material selection.
Opisano wnioskowanie statystyczne dotyczące wyboru materiału osnowy polimerowej kompozytu z włóknami naturalnymi. Testy hipotez statystycznych i przyjęte przedziały ufności służyły do oceny próbki pod względem przydatności do zastosowania w charakterze osnowy polimerowej w kompozycie wzmocnionym włóknem naturalnym. Selekcji materiałów dokonano przy użyciu metody regresji krokowej, następnie uszeregowano wybrane materiały z wykorzystaniem rankingu oceny (PS) właściwości mechanicznych, takich jak: udarność (IS), wydłużenie przy zerwaniu (E) i wytrzymałość na rozciąganie (TS). Wyselekcjonowano wstępnie 10 rodzajów polimerów zaliczanych do grup polimerów termoplastycznych (Tp) i termoutwardzalnych (Ts). Wnioskowanie statystyczne wykazało, że poliamid (PA6), poliuretany (PUR) i polipropylen (PP) są potencjalnie korzystnymi osnowami polimerowymi do wytwarzania dźwigni hamulca ręcznego. Stwierdzono, że polimery z grupy Tp wykazują lepszą udarność niż polimery z grupy Ts. Natomiast materiały Ts charakteryzują korzystniejsze wartości wydłużenia przy zerwaniu i wytrzymałości na rozciąganie niż ich odpowiedniki z grupy Tp. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy danych z zastosowaniem modelowania statystycznego dowodzą, że metoda ta może być pomocna przy wyborze materiału odpowiedniego do planowanej aplikacji.

Opis:: Konsekwentnie postępująca antropopresja obejmuje zarówno czynniki abiotyczne (elementy nieożywione, m.in. powietrze, woda, ziemia), jak i czynniki biotyczne (flora i fauna). W rezultacie takich działań współczesny świat koncentruje swoją uwagę w kierunku ochrony środowiska, by zregenerować oraz odbudować naruszony ekosystem. Agresywne oddziaływanie zanieczyszczeń zawartych w powietrzu w środowiskach zurbanizowanych wpływa destrukcyjnie na stan i wygląd elewacji budynków. W artykule przedstawiono wielokryterialnie implementacje 20 materiałów budowlanych, które mają właściwości samooczyszczania powierzchni i oczyszczania powietrza. Porównano po 10 farb elewacyjnych oraz tynków zewnętrznych, które są dostępne na rynku polskim. Wytypowano rozwiązania preferowane w budownictwie zrównoważonym ekologicznie.
Consistently progressing anthropopression includes both abiotic factors (inanimate elements, e.g. air, water, soil) and biotic factors (flora and fauna). As a result of such activities, the modern world focuses its attention on environmental protection in order to regenerate and rebuild disturbed ecosystem. The aggressive impact of air pollutants in urbanized environments has a destructive effect on the condition and appearance of building facades. The article presents multi-criteria implementations of 20 building materials that have surface self-cleaning and air purification properties. 10 facade paints and external plasters available on the Polish market were compared. Solutions preferred in ecologically sustainable construction were selected.

Opis:: Producenci uszczelnień ograniczyli rozwiązania materiałowe, jednak wybór odpowiedniego materiału nadal stanowi punkt krytyczny w doborze uszczelnienia. W pracy omówiono wymagania higieniczne stawiane stosowanym materiałom, zwrócono uwagę na zagrożenia związane z niewłaściwym doborem uszczelnień czołowych, a także zaproponowano ogólny algorytm doboru uszczelnień czołowych.
Seal manufacturers narrow a list of available materials, however the selection of appropriate material remains still a critical step in the successful application of mechanical seal. Hygienic requirements of seal material used in the food industry are discussed in the paper. Attention is paid to a risk associated with the improper selection of mechanical seals. Moreover, a general algorithm for selection of mechanical seal is proposed.

Opis:: The article presents the developed IT solutions supporting the material and technological conversion process in terms of the possibility of using the casting technology of selected alloys to produce products previously manufactured with the use of other methods and materials. The solutions are based on artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistical methods. The prototype module of the information and decision-making system allows for a preliminary assessment of the feasibility of this type of procedure. Currently, the selection of the method of manufacturing a product is based on the knowledge and experience of the technologist and constructor. In the described approach, this process is supported by the proprietary module of the information and decision-making system, which, based on the accumulated knowledge, allows for an initial assessment of the feasibility of a selected element in a given technology. It allows taking into account a large number of intuitive factors, as well as recording expert knowledge with the use of formal languages. Additionally, the possibility of searching for and collecting data on innovative solutions, supplying the knowledge base, should be taken into account. The developed and applied models should allow for the effective use and representation of knowledge expressed in linguistic form. In this solution, it is important to use methods that support the selection of parameters for the production of casting. The type, number and characteristics of data have an impact on the effectiveness of solutions in terms of classification and prediction of data and the relationships detected.
