- Despite what some of the more luddite amongst others may wish, social media is a passing fad. Familiar social media websites like Facebook and Twitter are now as much a part of our daily lives as mobile phones. This paper takes a closer look at social media and how and why it is important for businesses to not only understand it, but to also embrace and include it as an integral part of their marketing strategies. We start by asking the fundamentals - what is social media marketing and go on to examine the social media marketing business models being employed online.
