The processing influences with burnishing on improvement of quality of surface workpiece not only across significant improvement of roughness profitably, but also by boost near unchanged structure of core of material the superficial hardness. Burnishing can replace traditional methods of finishing such as grinding, honing and super finishing and even. In the construction machinery is used a number of elements of complex shape, which arę exposed to variable loads (crankshafts, drive shafts and camshafts). Fatigue resistance of such elements used in shipbuilding can be improved by burnishing. It was the aim of paper the determination the influence of radius of curve roll burnishing on strain hardening of surface layer of shaft from stainless steel.

On-Machine Measurements are a key factor for shorter closed quality control loops in industrial manufacturing. Especially for the production of large components, they promote the first-time-right approach, which is highly desirable, due to small quantities and steep value chains. In contrast to measurement rooms for CMMs, the production environment conditions are unregulated and impact multiple factors along the on-machine measurement metrological chain. As presented as a keynote speech at the XXXI CIRP Sponsored Conference on Supervising and Diagnostics of Machining Systems “MANUFACTURING ACTIVE IMPROVEMEN” by Professor Dr. Robert H. Schmitt, this article reviews current research and ideas regarding on-machine measurements. The authors collect necessary process data with the help of new technologies in the course of digitalization and thus propose a holistic model for systematic error compensation and measurement uncertainty prediction. For assessing the machine’s volumetric accuracy under thermal loads, the authors develop a novel modelling approach, which determines transient geometric errors by abstracting structural parts as spline curve with typical deformation modes. To address the workpiece’s influence on the measurement process, a data-driven framework, fusing real-time sensor-data with the virtual component, is used to model and predict transient thermo-mechanical workpiece states. For dissemination, the authors continue working on ISO standardization and, as subjects of future research, explore new paths in terms of data-driven modelling approaches, using physical abstractions coupled with machine learning and live process data.

The objective of the study was comparative analysis of production and technical circumstances of the functioning of two producer groups aimed at pig production. A significant difference between the compared producer groups was observed, in the group from (G1) mean livestock size was 48.93 LU·ha-1 AL. Whereas in the second group (G2), the livestock was at the level of only 19.45 LU·ha-1 AL. Within the compared groups (G1; G2) a significant discrepancy between the number of some machines is noticeable, such as: manure spreader, seeder, rotary mower, collecting balers. Farms of the G2 group had more extensively equipped machine stocks and the difference primarily stems from the size of the cultivated area AL, since in the producer group of (G2) the mean AL value was 30.80 ha and only 17.30 ha in the second studied group (G1). The conducted detailed analysis allowed to demonstrate that the group from Pałecznica (G1) should be assessed as the better one in terms of the productivity of fixed resources. In this group, the fixed resource productivity index indicates, that 1.07 thousand PLN·ha-1 AL of the production value corresponds to 1 unit of fixed resource value, i.e. 1 thousand PLN·ha-1 AL, whereas in the compared G2 group, the value was over half lower.

The article presents the characteristics of temperature changes of selected components of the machine tool and the temperature of the machining coolant in relation to the selected dimensions of finished parts, such as the AGB gear cover. The tests were carried out on the basis of serial production on the FMS line in a plant producing components for the aviation industry. As part of the research, the machine tool was modernized to the extent that it was possible to register temperatures in real-time. Temperature changes were compared with the dimensions of the machined part in search of dependencies. Correlation calculations between temperature and dimensional data were made with the use of a statistical process control program. Dimensional data were obtained from CMM machines used daily to measure parts from series production.

The research involved analysis of possession of selected engineering production means in orchard farms. The scope of work covered farm tractors, mowing machines and tractor spraying machines. The following parameters are shown: possession level, age and use per annum of the above-mentioned engineering means of production in farm groups divided according to the share of orchard culture in total arable land area of a given farm.

The current industrial constraints on production systems, especially availability problems are complicating maintenance managers’ mission and making longer and further performance improvement process. Dealing with these problems in a wiser managerial vision respecting sustainability dimensions would be more efficient to optimize all resources. In this paper, and after addressing the lean/sustainability challenge in a the literature to define main research orientations and critical points in manufacturing and then maintenance specific context, two case studies have been conducted in two production systems in Morocco and Canada, within the objective to set a clearer scene of the lean philosophy implementation in maintenance and within the sustainability scope from an empirical perspective. To activate the social dimension being often non-integrated in the lean/sustainability initiatives, the article authors reveal an original research direction assigning maintenance logistics as the leading part of our approach to cover all sustainability dimensions. Furthermore, its management is discussed for the first time in a sustainable framework, where the authors propose a new model considering the lean/sustainable perspective and inspired by the rich Human-Machine interaction memory to solve daily maintenance problems exploiting the operators’ experience feedback.

In the recent years, industrial automatics practically was used in all domains of economy. Particularly, it concerns to manufacturing processes and technological processes. It seems that in these systems, very important meaning have measuring and control devices, installed practically in all production machines. Operational parameters of machines, registered by these systems are the kind of source of very important information, which not always are utilized in proper way by the users. Particularly, it concerns mining branch, where more technically advanced machines are used. However, not always their users utilize the big potential of these machines. For this reason, in the paper there are presented results of studies, enabling the application of industrial automatic systems to analyze operation states of machines, based on registered parameters of these machines. Longwall shearer was submitted to detailed analysis as the most important machine in mining exploitation process. There are presented proposals for application registered data for determine effectiveness of its utilization and to diagnose its technical condition. Presented paper is aimed to realize and encouraging users to wider practical use of the capabilities of industrial automation systems. This should improve efficiency and safety of production processes.

Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling Problem (U-PMSP) is a category of discrete optimization problems in which various manufacturing jobs are assigned to identical parallel machines at particular times. In this paper, a specific production scheduling task the U-PMSP with Machine and Job Dependent Setup Times, Availability Constraint, Time Windows and Maintenance Times is introduced. Machines with different capacity limits and maintenance times are available to perform the tasks. After that our problem, the U-PMSP with Machine and Job Dependent Setup Times, Availability Constraints, Time Windows and Maintenance Times is detailed. After that, the applied optimization algorithm and their operators are introduced. The proposed algorithm is the genetic algorithm (GA), and proposed operators are the order crossover, partially matched crossover, cycle crossover and the 2-opt as a mutation operator. Then we prove the efficiency of our algorithm with test results. We also prove the efficiency of the algorithm on our own data set and benchmark data set. The authors conclude that this GA is effective for solving high complexity parallel machine problems.

Przeprowadzono analizę kosztów produkcji marchwi w wybranych gospodarstwach, w których do zbioru korzeni stosowano jednorzędowe kombajny. Badania realizowano w Izdebnie Nowym (odmiana Joba) oraz w Długowoli (odmiany: Berlanda i Carotan). Stwierdzono wysoki udział kosztów robocizny (nawet do 43%), które wynikały głównie z konieczności pozbiorczego doczyszczania korzeni. Wskaźnik opłacalności produkcji korzeni marchwi w Izdebnie Nowym wyniósł 233% i odpowiednio w Długowoli: 174,5 i 192,1%.
A cost analysis of carrot production was performed in the selected farms, where single row harvesters were used for root collecting. The research was done in Izdebno Nowe (Joba variety) and in Długowola (the varieties: Berlanda and Carotan). A high percentage share of labour cost was found (up to 43%), resulting mainly from the necessity of after-harvest root cleaning. The profitability indicator for carrot root production in Izdebno Nowe was 233% and in Długowola respectively: 174.5 and 192.1%.

W pracy przedstawiono metodykę dostosowania gospodarstw prowadzących produkcję bydła do wymogów Unii Europejskiej. Znalazły się w niej standardy produkcji dla tego typu gospodarstw. Metoda została zweryfikowana na przykładowym gospodarstwie, w którym modernizacja dotyczyła struktury i wielkości stada, określenia koncepcji żywienia i utrzymania zwierząt oraz budynku i stosowanych w nim środków technicznych. Opracowana metodyka daje poprawne wyniki a zmodernizowane wg niej gospodarstwo uzyskuje produkcję na wyskim poziomie spełniając standardy technologiczne Unii Europejskiej.
The paper presents methodology used to adapt farms involved in cattle production to the requirements of the European Union. It contains production standards for farms of this type. The method was verified for a sample farm, in which modernisation applied to herd structure and size, specifying the concept of feeding and animal and building keeping, and technical measures used in it. Developed methodology gives correct results, and farm being modernised according to it achieves high production level thus satisfying technological standards of the European Union.

In flexible manufacturing systems the most important element in determining the proper course of technological processes, transport and storage is the control and planning subsystem. The key planning task is to determine the optimal sequence of production orders. This paper proposes a new method of determining the optimal sequence of production orders in view of the sum of the costs related to the delayed execution of orders. It takes into account the different unit costs of delays of individual orders and the amount of allowable delays of orders involving no delay costs. The optimum sequence of orders, in the single-machine problem, in view of the sum of the costs of delays may be significantly different from the optimal order, taking into account the sum of delay times.

In terms of climate forecasting, the Mediterranean region is among the most difficult. It is correlated with the five significant subtropical high pressure belts of the oceans and is symbolized by dry and hot summer and cold and rainy winter. Due to its location in the area, Albania is particularly susceptible to climatic changes. It has been noted that summertime sees the greatest temperature increases. More intense heat waves that stay longer and occur more frequently are anticipated in the eastern Mediterranean. The seasonal patterns of precipitation have not changed, but the amount of rain has become more intense. The effects of climate change have drawn attention to various renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power. In this study, the changes and prospective in average temperature, rainfall, humidity, CO2 emission and their impact in energy production were investigated. Several different models such as Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average method; Prophet algorithm; Elastic-Net Regularized Generalized Linear Model; Random Forest Regression models; Prophet Boost algorithm; have been built for the study and prediction of each variable. The appropriate models are used to determine the anticipated values of the indicators for a period of four years. The prediction shows an increase in CO2 emission which leads to a decrease in energy production by hydropower. These findings suggest the use of other renewable sources for energy production in the country and the Mediterranean region.
