Opis:
The conception of sustainable development means such a course of economic and infrastructure growth in a given territory, a growth that does not essentially interfere with the natural environment. It is assume here that the resources and values of nature are optimally used, they do not essentially or irreversibly change man's environment. The necessity to conduct economic activity in respect with nature is stressed here. Therefore sustainable development is not only a concrete economic activity, or a practical protection of the natural environment, but it is also the quality of organised society. Once the principles of sustainable development are put into practice in the ecological policy of the state they will ensure the following: changes in the system of education, changes in the model of production and consumption, application of the best available techniques and good practices in economy, and then traditional actions (among other things, purification plants, neutralisation of wastes etc.) The issues connected with sustainable development should therefore be obligatory on the list of sector policies in all domains of economy, and also in the strategies and programmes of development at a national, local, and local levels. Obviously, the strategies accepted by local governments and the programmes of sustainable development should be realised in a complex manner, taking into consideration all sector of economic activity and inhabitants' activity.

W artykule podjęto próbę określenia, jak działania podejmowane przez środowisko i społeczność lokalną na rzecz ucznia zdolnego są oceniane przez badanych studentów. Artykuł składa się z czterech części. W pierwszej określono, w jaki sposób definiowane są zdolności; w drugiej wymieniono i opisano funkcje, które środowisko przyjmuje wobec zdolności ucznia. W części trzeciej przeprowadzono analizę jakościową swobodnych wypowiedzi studentów. Następnie sformułowano wnioski.
The article attempts to determine how the actions taken by the environment and the community in support of the gifted student are evaluated by the students surveyed. The article consists of four parts. The first identifies how giftedness is defined; the second lists and describes the functions that the environment assumes towards the student’s giftedness. In the third part, a qualitative analysis of the students’ free statements was carried out. This is followed by the formulation of conclusions.

Zapewnienie pracownikom poczucia komfortu przez regulację odpowiednich parametrów środowiska pracy to m.in.: zmniejszenie liczby popełnianych przez nich błędów w pracy, ograniczenie liczby wypadków, chorób zawodowych, a także poprawa wydajności pracy oraz jakości pro-duktów i usług. Według danych GUS w 2008 r. około 60 tys. osób w Polsce jest zatrudnionych w warunkach mikroklimatu zimnego i gorącego, co oznacza, że przeważająca część społeczeństwa pracuje w mikroklimacie umiarkowanym, a więc w środowisku, które powinno spełniać wymagania komfortu termicznego, natomiast przez użytkowników najczęściej jest odbierane jako niesatysfakcjonujące. W artykule zaprezentowano metody oceny komfortu cieplnego ogólnego i miejscowego.
Provide employees comfort sensation by adjusting the particular parameters of work environment translates into reduce errors, reduce the number of work accidents and occupational diseases, as well as to improve productivity and quality of products and services. According to data gathered in 2008 about 60 thousand people in Poland are employed in conditions of cold and hot environment, which means that the majority of population is exposed to moderate environment, and hence in the environment, which should meet the requirements of thermal comfort, while the users often perceived as unsatisfying. The paper presents methods for assessing general and local thermal comfort of employees.

Opis:
Development of rural areas is largely affected by NGOs and local organization, a good example of which is the operation of Local Action Groups (LAGs). LAGs mainly stimulate development of rural areas by defining community needs. The goal of this study was to evaluate the activity of inhabitants of rural areas in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship within the scope of initiatives of selected LAGs. The study was based on secondary sources with queries of available information: documents of organizations, strategies, data obtained from the Central Statistical Office of Poland, database of the National Rural Network 2014–2020. Social activity was studied on the basis of information concerning finished projects from the period of 2014–2017 published on Facebook by LAGs in question. The time span comprised the period of 2007–2017. The study focused on 5 LAGs headquartered in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and located in its various parts. The areas of their activity are diversified in terms of environmental conditions and economic functions.
W procesie rozwoju obszarów wiejskich istotną rolę odgrywają organizacje pozarządowe i stowarzyszenia lokalne. Charakterystycznym przykładem takich inicjatyw są Lokalne Grupy Działania. Główną przesłanką działania LGD jest aktywizacja środowisk wiejskich w kierunku kształtowania rozwoju, poprzez sformułowanie potrzeb społeczności. Celem pracy jest ocena aktywności mieszkańców wsi woj. świętokrzyskiego w ramach inicjatyw podejmowanych przez wybrane LGD. W badaniu wykorzystano źródła wtórne dokonując kwerendy dostępnych materiałów: dokumentów stowarzyszeniowych, strategii, danych GUS, informacji z bazy Krajowej Sieci Obszarów Wiejskich 2014–2020. Aktywność społeczności lokalnej zbadano na podstawie informacji o zrealizowanych działaniach w latach 2014–2017, które zostały zamieszczone przez obrane LGD na portalu społecznościowym Facebook. Zakres czasowy analiz objął lata 2007–2017. W badaniu uwzględniono 5 LGD, które mają siedziby na terenie woj. świętokrzyskiego i są zlokalizowane w różnych jego częściach. Tereny objęte działaniem tych partnerstw są zróżnicowane pod względem warunków środowiskowych i charakteru pełnionych funkcji gospodarczych.

Opis:
This paper investigates how old Dutch firms display their corporate identity on the Internet, with special attention paid to location and place. Several scholars argue that the Internet would create the ‘end-of-geography’. Current empirical investigation found that incumbent firms display a strong sense-of-place in the presentation of ‘self’ on their websites. Location is important for old firms' images, underlining the importance of embeddedness. Location remains important when firms compete on the ‘global level’ on the Internet. This paper therefore contributes to the understanding of place and local embeddedness of firms in the ‘global internet space’.

Następnie przedstawiono rodzaje projektów i omówiono konkretne ich przykłady.
The article presents an environmental education project as a complex teaching strategy on solving the issues of sustainable development or environmental protection. The following stages of project realization are described: selection of the research issue, definition of goals, project development and identification of funding sources, realization and presentation of project results. Types of project are presented alongside with a discussion of specific examples.

Udział Polski w ogólnoświatowej Dekadzie Edukacji dla Rozwoju Zrównoważonego 2005-2014 (Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005 - 2014) wymaga określenia świadomości i poglądów społeczności lokalnych w odniesieniu do ochrony środowiska i idei rozwoju zrównoważonego. Praca jest próbą określenia stanu świadomości i poglądów społeczeństwa w Polsce w drugim roku Dekady, na przykładzie województwa mazowieckiego. Wyniki badań wskazująca niezbyt wysokie zainteresowanie lokalnych społeczności problemami ochrony środowiska i rozwoju zrównoważonego. Istnieje konieczność opracowania przez gminy programu edukacji środowiskowej dla społeczeństwa uwzględniającego lokalne uwarunkowania. Należy wzmóc aktywność społeczeństwa w działaniach na rzecz środowiska włączając je do realizacji lokalnych projektów z udziałem, instytucji prowadzących edukację formalną i nieformalną na terenie gminy.
Poland's participation in the world- wide Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014 requires a recognition of the awareness level and views of local communities in relation to environmental protection and sustainable development. The paper is an attempt of determining the awareness level and points of view of the public in the second year of the Decade on the example of the Masovia Voievodeship. The results of the studies prove a relatively low level of interest of local communities in environmental protection and sustainable development issues. There is a need to develop environmental education programmes by municipalities which take into account local settings. Public activity in environmental protection aimed initiatives should be strengthened through involvement in local projects with the support of local organizations dealing with formal and informal education in municipalities.

W artykule podjęto próbę opracowania teoretycznych ram oceny efektywności wykorzystania przez władze lokalne w ramach prowadzonej polityki rozwoju miasta instrumentu, jakim jest działalność profesjonalnego klubu piłkarskiego. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie, oparte na przeprowadzonej analizie literaturowej, określa zestaw parametrów o charakterze ekonomicznym i pozaekonomicznym. Ich dobór, zgodnie z intencją autora, powinien być traktowany jako propozycja wstępna, która stanowi przyczynek do dalszej dyskusji i w przyszłości będzie przedmiotem szczegółowych badań empirycznych.
The paper attempts to develop a theoretical framework for assessing the efficiency of an urban development strategy based on supporting a professional football club. Based on a literature review and an empirical study, the proposed approach defines a set of both economic and non-economic parameters. The choice of these parameters, as intended by the author, should be considered as a preliminary proposal for further discussion and future research.

Polska jest krajem o wielowiekowych tradycjach migracyjnych. W następstwie wydarzeń związanych z akcesją do struktur europejskich w pierwszej dekadzie bieżącego stulecia nasz kraj doświadczył kolejnej fali odpływu migracyjnego – determinowanej szeregiem czynników o charakterze ekonomicznym. W artykule przedstawiono bilans korzyści i strat wynikających z masowych migracji poakcesyjnych ludności obszarów peryferyjnych. W każdej z wymienionych kategorii skoncentrowano się z jednej strony na następstwach procesów związanych z mobilnością, oddziałujących na procesy transformacji środowiska lokalnego migrantów, drugi aspekt dotyczył natomiast zmian zachodzących w rodzinach (gospodarstwach domowych) osób przebywających na zagranicznym wyjeździe zarobkowym.
Poland is a country with a long tradition of migration. In the wake of the events related to the access to the EU structures, the first decade of this century witnessed another wave of emigration from our country - determined with a series of economic factors. The article presents the balance of benefits and losses following from mass migrations of the populations of peripheral areas after the EU access. For each of the following categories, the author focuses on the one hand on the consequences of the mobility processes affecting the transformations of the migrants’ local environment, while the other aspect is related to the changes in the families (households) of the people who were staying abroad for economic purposes.

Due to its status as a basic social unit the family retains numerous rights guaranteed by appropriate documents of international character. In all the documents legal and economic protection is mentioned, which is to be provided to the family by the state and the society. It is the basic condition of proper functioning of the family within the society and its positive changes. Every family under pressure from various outside factors undergoes manifold changes, which are not always positive. The family is, therefore, to be provided with such conditions as not to allow for crises, often constituting a source of dysfunctions and pathologies. It is the fundamental aim of government family politics realised by local environments. Family politics realised in local environments is directed at help and care which encompass three forms. These are: family help and care, child and youth care, elderly and disabled care. The scope of local family politics is determined by reality in which the local community functions. The reality indicates the needs of families and constitutes a basis for the strategy of solving local environment problems.

From an economic point of view, protected areas do not bring in high profits, in comparison to other possible ways of land usage. National parks and nature reserves are costly in their creation, as well as in their subsequent upkeep and management. In developing countries, their operation can be the source of many political and economic problems. Usually, local communities neighboring protected areas perceive the existence of a protected zone negatively, although they are often able to avail themselves of park resources in various ways. Besides being given the opportunity to rationally make use of certain park resources, community members may be employed as park attendants, which is a practice that is widespread. A part of the profits obtained from the developing tourist industry may be allocated towards local development programs, e.g. the building of a new hospital or school. Some national parks, while lacking the adequate infrastructure necessary for tourism, grapple with a lack of funds. The lack of earning opportunities in connection with the development of tourism results in the local community's over-exploitation of park resources. This often manifests itself in an increased incidence of poaching in the protected area.

W artykule zaprezentowane zostały wyniki badania konkurencyjności gmin objętych Europejską Siecią Ekologiczną Natura 2000. Na podstawie analiz korelacji udziału obszarów Natura 2000 w ogólnej powierzchni gminy i wskaźników charakteryzujących wymiary konkurencyjności i rozwoju, a także ankiet przeprowadzonych wśród samorządów gminnych w Polsce sformułowano wnioski dotyczące sytuacji społeczno-gospodarczej gmin tzw. naturowych oraz wpływu tej formy ochrony przyrody na rozwój lokalny. W artykule podjęto również próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy sieć Natura 2000 faktycznie zapewnia zrównoważony rozwój, czy wymusza jedynie dbałość o interesy przyrody bez uwzględniania potrzeb społecznych i gospodarczych lokalnych społeczności.
The article discusses the results of empirical research on the competitiveness of municipalities covered by the Natura 2000 network. Authors conducted a correlation analysis of the share of the Natura 2000 sites in the general area of a municipality and the indicators characterizing dimensions of competitiveness and development. Questionnaire surveys were conducted among local governments in Poland. On this basis conclusions on the socio-economic situation of municipalities with a large share of Natura 2000 areas and the impact of this form of conservation for local development were formulated. The article is also an attempt to answer the question whether Natura 2000 actually delivers sustainable development, or simply forces environmental protection without taking into account social and economic needs of local communities.

This paper forms a short study on the broad subject of the cooperation between educational institutions and the local environment and the involvement of the local environment in the school, cultural and scientific life. The article highlights only one aspect of the wide spectrum of issues related to this subject. It presents the school and its cooperation with the local environment. The paper is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical, part expounds and explains the key terms, such as volunteering, charity, leisure time or local environment. The second part contains the analysis of own research which involved teachers from two primary schools in the Małopolskie Province and secondary school students also from the Małopolskie Province. The teachers commented on the links between the local life and the school, whereas the students presented their point of view on the same matter after several years of education.
