The aim of the article is to present the results of qualitative research on specific actions taken by primary school heads in their perception and resolution of problems of the local community in which students function. Civilizational and technical progress brings with it the risk that the essence of educational processes is subordinated to other values. In the face of cultural progress, the family environment in which the child is brought up is at risk too. Often, schools are responsible for identifying the problems that students face. The collected research material presents the relation between the identification of problems occurring in the local environment in which the students grow up and the actions taken by the school heads. The line of reasoning consists of three parts. The first conclusions are selected from the literature review and concern the diagnosis of the local environment. The second part presents the analysis of the qualitative research carried out among primary school heads. The last part of the discussion is a summary of the research results with conclusions drawn from the literature review. The research shows that the scope of the provided support is focused primarily on educating young people on the desire to seek new perspectives. Group work, skilful adaptation to new circumstances and responsibility for lifelong learning are the key competencies that a graduate should have. Learning and teaching such important competencies require an understanding of the difficulties occurring in the local environment that may block the harmonious development of a young person.

Due to its status as a basic social unit the family retains numerous rights guaranteed by appropriate documents of international character. In all the documents legal and economic protection is mentioned, which is to be provided to the family by the state and the society. It is the basic condition of proper functioning of the family within the society and its positive changes. Every family under pressure from various outside factors undergoes manifold changes, which are not always positive. The family is, therefore, to be provided with such conditions as not to allow for crises, often constituting a source of dysfunctions and pathologies. It is the fundamental aim of government family politics realised by local environments. Family politics realised in local environments is directed at help and care which encompass three forms. These are: family help and care, child and youth care, elderly and disabled care. The scope of local family politics is determined by reality in which the local community functions. The reality indicates the needs of families and constitutes a basis for the strategy of solving local environment problems.

This article is an analysis of the social policy of practical activities implemented for seniors in the environment of their local residence. Tarnów was chosen as the local environment, in which seniors are the majority of the population. It discusses the principles of social policy, the resources of the Tarnów local government, activities and initiatives for seniors in Tarnów as well as the objectives and tasks of the Tarnów local government implemented in 2015–2020 The analysis of social policy shows that the local government authorities in Tarnów organized many valuable and good initiatives for the benefit of seniors. This is demonstrated by the cafeteria of activities undertaken by social institutions (state and local government), non-governmental organizations, religious associations (church), and other economic entities (enterprises and business). However, there are some lacunae, especially in the area of care standards.

This paper forms a short study on the broad subject of the cooperation between educational institutions and the local environment and the involvement of the local environment in the school, cultural and scientific life. The article highlights only one aspect of the wide spectrum of issues related to this subject. It presents the school and its cooperation with the local environment. The paper is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical, part expounds and explains the key terms, such as volunteering, charity, leisure time or local environment. The second part contains the analysis of own research which involved teachers from two primary schools in the Małopolskie Province and secondary school students also from the Małopolskie Province. The teachers commented on the links between the local life and the school, whereas the students presented their point of view on the same matter after several years of education.

Subject and purpose of work: The subject of the study is the cooperation of secondary vocational schools (technical secondary schools) with institutions of the local environment and its impact on the improvement of the quality of education. The aim of the work is to identify the main results of the school's cooperation with its immediate environment. An important element of the analysis is to find answers to several problematic questions, such as: What institutions and organizations do vocational schools cooperate with? What activities are undertaken in cooperation with institutions and organizations? What educational benefits do school students get from cooperation? Materials and methods: The article uses a diagnostic survey method, an observation method, an inductive-deductive method, an interview and a literature review. The survey conducted among students and teachers of a selected secondary school made it possible to obtain information on the forms of cooperation with the local community and its impact on the processes taking place at school, in particular on the didactic and educational process. Results: The school teaching staff members see the need for active cooperation with the local community because entities from the school's environment can complement the didactic and educational activities. Therefore, numerous and varied forms of cooperation are undertaken, which, in the opinion of students, bring many benefits related to extending knowledge, improving professional skills and social competences. Conclusions: The cooperation of the school with the local community leads to the improvement of the quality of education, both in the area of didactics and education, as well as modernization of the didactic base and promotion of the school. It is advisable to consciously shape the cooperation by the school management.

Research presented in this article was undertaken to determine how representatives of authorities and residents of communes perceive airports in the context of the impact of these airports on the socio-economic situation in the communes. The goal was achieved using: analysis of documentation of communes, analysis of data on the functioning of airports, and a diagnostic survey using the interview technique and survey technique. The research was carried out on representatives of 5 communes located in Poland. To analyse the collected material and present the results, Statistica v.13.3, R v.4.0.0 and RStudio editor software were used. Results of this research proved that airports play a pivotal role in stimulating the development of the region. They influence the quality of life in the commune by contributing to the creation of jobs, attracting investors, and generating income for the municipal budget through taxes paid.

W artykule podjęto próbę określenia, jak działania podejmowane przez środowisko i społeczność lokalną na rzecz ucznia zdolnego są oceniane przez badanych studentów. Artykuł składa się z czterech części. W pierwszej określono, w jaki sposób definiowane są zdolności; w drugiej wymieniono i opisano funkcje, które środowisko przyjmuje wobec zdolności ucznia. W części trzeciej przeprowadzono analizę jakościową swobodnych wypowiedzi studentów. Następnie sformułowano wnioski.
The article attempts to determine how the actions taken by the environment and the community in support of the gifted student are evaluated by the students surveyed. The article consists of four parts. The first identifies how giftedness is defined; the second lists and describes the functions that the environment assumes towards the student’s giftedness. In the third part, a qualitative analysis of the students’ free statements was carried out. This is followed by the formulation of conclusions.

This paper investigates how old Dutch firms display their corporate identity on the Internet, with special attention paid to location and place. Several scholars argue that the Internet would create the ‘end-of-geography’. Current empirical investigation found that incumbent firms display a strong sense-of-place in the presentation of ‘self’ on their websites. Location is important for old firms' images, underlining the importance of embeddedness. Location remains important when firms compete on the ‘global level’ on the Internet. This paper therefore contributes to the understanding of place and local embeddedness of firms in the ‘global internet space’.

In their everyday work, social workers meet people who cannot manage reality surrounding them. They try to help them to independently overcome hardships these people face. They do it in various ways, using social work methods, from which most frequently used are methods of dealing with an individual or a group (family). To realise the given tasks, they use the environment organization method the least commonly. One of the reasons for social exclusion of an individual is the absence of an accurate diagnosis of reasons for isolation of individuals from other people functioning in their social zone. They lock themselves in their homes, isolate from living in wider social circles. It leads to the feeling of loneliness, to being lonely. This state is mostly experienced by elderly people who, undoubtedly, have to be of interest of social workers, because the quality of life of elderly people will depend on their tasks organization skills.
Pracownicy socjalni w swojej codziennej pracy spotykają ludzi, którzy nie radzą sobie sami z otaczającą ich rzeczywistością. Starają się więc pomóc im w samodzielnym pokonywaniu napotkanych trudności. Czynią to na różne sposoby przy zastosowaniu metod pracy socjalnej, z których najczęściej stosowane są metody pracy z indywidualnym przypadkiem i grupą (rodziną). Najrzadziej wykorzystują w realizacji powierzonych im zadań metodę organizowania środowiska. Jedną z przyczyn wykluczenia społecznego jednostki jest brak trafnej diagnozy powodów, dla których jednostki izolują się od funkcjonujących w ich przestrzeni społecznej innych ludzi. Zamykają się w swoich domach, izolują od życia w szerszych kręgach społecznych. To powoduje, że czują się samotni i są samotni. Takiego stanu najczęściej doświadczają osoby starsze, które niewątpliwie muszą znaleźć się w kręgu zainteresowania pracowników socjalnych, ponieważ od ich umiejętności organizowania działań w środowisku lokalnym będzie zależała jakość życia samotnych seniorów.

This paper examines the current management of municipal solid waste in Kano metropolis and highlights the problems that impede efficient management. Focus group discussion was employed to ascertain people’s perception of the existing municipal solid waste management services, expectations, and the extent to which residents are willing to support and participate in the process. The results of the study indicated many issues combined to impede efficient management such as the negative externalities namely: the service is free; the incoherent association of poor management of municipal solid waste with diseases occurrences; religious and cultural beliefs; a pervasive lack of trust of all government institution and initiatives related to municipal waste management services. The results also revealed that although public awareness and participation has been shown to be critical in the success of municipal solid waste management endeavour all over the world, it is absent in Kano metropolis. The study recommends use of focus group disussion and other similar mechanisms such as town meetings to create awareness as a means to enunciate citizens charter that will enhance public support and participation in municipal solid waste management in Kano metropolis.

Magnetic and Mossbauer measurements were performed for Mn2.xFexP0.5As0.5, 0.5 less-than or equal to x less-than or equal to 1.0. It was shown that with decreasing Fe content magnetic interaction significantly weakens. Low temperature magnetic structure could be explained as a superposition of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic contributions to the whole magnetic moment of the alloy.

Polska jest krajem o wielowiekowych tradycjach migracyjnych. W następstwie wydarzeń związanych z akcesją do struktur europejskich w pierwszej dekadzie bieżącego stulecia nasz kraj doświadczył kolejnej fali odpływu migracyjnego – determinowanej szeregiem czynników o charakterze ekonomicznym. W artykule przedstawiono bilans korzyści i strat wynikających z masowych migracji poakcesyjnych ludności obszarów peryferyjnych. W każdej z wymienionych kategorii skoncentrowano się z jednej strony na następstwach procesów związanych z mobilnością, oddziałujących na procesy transformacji środowiska lokalnego migrantów, drugi aspekt dotyczył natomiast zmian zachodzących w rodzinach (gospodarstwach domowych) osób przebywających na zagranicznym wyjeździe zarobkowym.
Poland is a country with a long tradition of migration. In the wake of the events related to the access to the EU structures, the first decade of this century witnessed another wave of emigration from our country - determined with a series of economic factors. The article presents the balance of benefits and losses following from mass migrations of the populations of peripheral areas after the EU access. For each of the following categories, the author focuses on the one hand on the consequences of the mobility processes affecting the transformations of the migrants’ local environment, while the other aspect is related to the changes in the families (households) of the people who were staying abroad for economic purposes.

The article presents an environmental education project as a complex teaching strategy on solving the issues of sustainable development or environmental protection. The following stages of project realization are described: selection of the research issue, definition of goals, project development and identification of funding sources, realization and presentation of project results. Types of project are presented alongside with a discussion of specific examples.

The most prevalent P2P application today is file sha ring, both among scientific users and the general public. Afundamental process in file sharing systems is the search mechanism. The unstructured nature of real-world largescale complex systems poses a challenge to the search me thods, because global routing and directory services are impractical to implement. This paper presents a new antcolony algorithm, Adaptive Neighboring-Ant Search (AdaNAS), for the semantic query routing problem (SQRP) in a P2P network. The proposed algorithm incor porates an adaptive control parameter tuning technique for runtime estimation of the time-to-live (TTL) of the ants. AdaNAS uses three strategies that take advantage of the local environment: learning, characterization, and explo ration. Two classical learning rules are used to gain ex perience on past performance using three new learning functions based on the distance traveled and the resources found by the ants. The experimental results show that the AdaNAS algorithm outperforms the NAS algorithm where the TTLvalue is not tuned at runtime.

Opis:
Pedagogical reflections on the construction and negotiation of the world by individuals on the basis of experience and social relations are important elements enabling and developing the idea of participatory pedagogy. In order to achieve this we need to move away from the model of education focused on the division of roles for the teacher - as the one who teaches and the student - one who is taught, as well as the division into experts and novices. The starting point should be activite participation of both sides in the process of acquiring and improving knowledge, and only then knowledge sharing and networking cooperation. Nature is a great laboratory and a place of research, and its observation and living with it show us how to acquire knowledge, how to work in a group, how to protect nature and how to behave in this environment. The aim of the paper is to show the possibility of expanding the educational offer in the professional development of science teachers and to present theoretical assumptions of the new trends in education as well as the proposals for their implementation in academic practice.
Pedagogiczne refleksje nad konstruowaniem i wspólną negocjacją świata przez jednostki na podstawie doświadczenia i relacji społecznych są istotnym elementem włączania i rozwijania idei pedagogiki partycypacyjnej (Naumiuk 2014, s. 25). W tym celu należy odejść od modelu kształcenia skoncentrowanego na podziale ról na nauczyciela (tego, który naucza) i ucznia (tego, który jest uczony) oraz na ekspertów i nowicjuszy. Punktem wyjścia powinna być aktywność obu stron w procesie zdobywania i pogłębiania wiedzy, a dopiero potem dzielenie się wiedzą, budowanie sieci osób aktywnych i wspólne działania (Potyrała 2016, s. 276). Przyroda jest znakomitym laboratorium i miejscem badań, a obserwacja i obcowanie z nią podpowiadają nam, jak zdobywać wiedzę, pracować w grupie, chronić przyrodę i zachowywać się w jej środowisku (Korwin-Szymanowska i in. 2015, s. 9–36). Celem artykułu jest ukazanie możliwości poszerzenia oferty edukacyjnej w zakresie rozwoju zawodowego nauczycieli przyrody oraz przedstawienie teoretycznych założeń nowych tendencji edukacyjnych wraz z propozycjami ich wdrożenia do praktyki akademickiej.

The specificity of the Warmia and Mazury region, a unique cultural mosaic paired with social problems, provided a space for building social engagement in the environment by involving the local community in socio-cultural activities. These actions resulted in changes to the living environment of individuals and social groups through their participation and engagement. The aim of the article is to present the results of research showing the views of animators regarding the impact of implemented social and cultural projects on stimulating social forces in small towns and villages of Warmia and Mazury. The research findings presented in the following section show the important aspects of this activity, starting from the sources/motives of creating projects and incorporating environmental resources into them, through cooperation with the local community and creating environmental leaders, to assessing the changes taking place as a result of the implemented projects. The presented research results allow for the conclusion that animators, through their project activities, contributed to permanent, positive changes in the local environment, awakening social forces (open and hidden), and to an increase in socio-cultural activity, both during and after the project activities.

The article investigates selected aspects of local government’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship in Poland. It begins by describing major business environment institutions which can be established or co‑established by Polish local government units. In the next section the authors present the results of the empirical study conducted in 2012 by the Bureau of Research of the Chancellery of the Sejm. The main focus is placed on the level of engagement of rural communes, urban and rural communes, municipalities, cities with powiat (county) rights and powiats in establishing institutions which support local entrepreneurs. In the next section the case of special economic zones, which can also be co‑founded and supported by local government, is briefly examined. The final section reports on organisational solutions which foster cooperation and information exchange between local government units and entrepreneurs.

In this paper the current problems of local municipal management have been presented. The influence of the system incorporation into the environment was presented on the example of town and community of Pobiedziska. The departments responsible for the environment condition control waste management and sewage treatment. During the research, a great number of environmental problems have been noted. Among many, there were illegal dump areas and inappropriate sewage disposal. The questionnaires conducted among the local community revealed low level of ecological awareness. The results of this paper prove the negative trends in the researched departments of local management, which commonly appear in the majority of Polish communities.
W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono aktualne problemy gospodarki komunalnej. Przedstawiony został wpływ jej realizacji na lokalne środowisko przyrodnicze na przykładzie miasta i gminy Pobiedziska. Działy gospodarki komunalnej, które mają największy wpływ na stan środowiska przyrodniczego dotyczą gospodarki odpadami oraz gospodarki ściekowej. W ramach badań stwierdzono szereg problemów środowiskowych (m.in. liczne „dzikie” wysypiska odpadów oraz nielegalne odprowadzanie ścieków do środowiska). Badania ankietowe wykazały niską świadomość ekologiczną społeczności lokalnej. Wyniki niniejszej pracy potwierdzają negatywne tendencje w analizowanych działach gospodarki komunalnej, które powszechnie występują w większości gmin w Polsce.

Artykuł porusza problematykę dostosowania przestrzeni terapeutycznej do potrzeb i możliwości dzieci z umiarkowaną i znaczną niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. W oparciu o bioekologiczną teorię systemów Bronfenbrennera omówiona została rola przestrzeniarchitektonicznej, lokalnej, domowej, w jakiej funkcjonuje dziecko w jego stymulacji rozwojowej. Wyjaśniono terminy aranżacja przestrzeni i projektowanie uniwersalne wraz z zasadami towarzyszącymi kreowaniu bezpiecznej i dostępnej dla osób z niepełnosprawnością przestrzeni. Szczególne miejsce poświęcono budowaniu przyjaznego środowiska lokalnego z uwzględnieniem architektury krajobrazu, budynku, wnętrza, ale też społecznego wymiaru funkcjonowania dziecka.
This article addresses the issue of adapting therapeutic space to the needs and abilities of children with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. Based on Bronfenbrenner's bio-ecological systems theory, the role of the architectural, home and local space in which the child functions in his/her developmental stimulation is discussed. The term space arrangement and universal design are explained together with the principles accompanying the creation of safe and accessible space for people with disabilities. Special attention is paid to building a friendly local environment taking into account the architecture of the surrounding, building, interior, but also the social dimension of the child's functioning.

This text is a draft of Carl Sonnenschein (1876–1929) biography. He was a German Catholic priest, theologian, philosopher, social reformer, charismatic social activist, founder of the Catholic social movement in Germany, the creator of new forms of metropolitan pastoral ministry, the apostle of Berlin, after his death he was called Saint Francis of Berlin. In Poland, his figure is almost unknown. The aim of this article is to bring closer his profile, the climate accompanying his activities and to contribute to the understanding of the aura of fascination and uniqueness, which surrounds not so much his work as a person, so important in the history of the German and universal Catholic Church and also for followers of other religions.

Tekst traktuje o roli szeroko rozumianego bezpieczeństwa, jako niezbędnego fundamentu, do realizacji procesu resocjalizacji, reintegracji i readaptacji w środowisku lokalnym. Tylko poprawnie funkcjonujące otoczenie, kierujące się obowiązującymi, zgodnymi z prawem normami, jest zdolne do kreowania rzeczywistości koniecznej dla readaptacji, reintegracji i resocjalizacji jednostki.Otoczenie o którym mowa to środowisko lokalne którym dokonywać się powinny wspomniane procesy readaptacji, reintegracji, jak i proces resocjalizacji, który oparty winien być głównie na pracy na potencjałach i twórczym oddziaływaniom przy wsparciu środowiska lokalnego. W tekście odwołano się do koncepcji human security, wybranych teorii bezpieczeństwa rozumianych jako fundament oddziaływań na jednostki. Omówiono także znaczenie więzi społecznych i koncepcję ruchomych przestrzeni stanowiących przykład współdziałania instytucji i społeczeństwa. Rozważania konkluduje odniesienie do kapitału ludzkiego i społecznego tkwiącego w jednostkach. Tak szeroko rozumiane bezpieczeństwo służy tworzeniu dobrych podwalin pod właściwie realizowane procesy.
The text deals with the role of broadly understood security as a necessary foundation for the implementation of the process of resocialization, reintegration and re-adaptation in the local environment. Only a properly functioning environment, guided by applicablenorms compliant with the law, is able to create the reality necessary for the readaptation, reintegration and rehabilitation of the individual.The environment in question is a local environment where the processes of readaptation, reintegration and rehabilitation processes should be implemented, which should be based mainly on work on potentials and creative impacts with the support of the local environment. The text refers to the concept of human security, selected security theories understood as the foundation of impacts on individuals. The significance of social bonds and the concept of moving spaces that are an example of cooperation between institutions and society were also discussed. The considerations conclude the reference to human and social capital inherent in individuals. Such broadly understood security serves to create good foundations for properly implemented processes.

W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe zagadnienia związane z zakresem pracy socjalnej. Ponadto, zaprezentowano cel pracy socjalnej i omówiono w jakich kierunkach ona zmierza. W części empirycznej przedstawiono wybrane elementy badania przeprowadzonego w kwietniu 2013 roku wśród pracowników socjalnych Miejskiego Ośrodka Pomocy Rodzinie w Zabrzu. Celem badania była analiza wpływu pracy socjalnej na usamodzielnienie się materialne świadczeniobiorców. Zbadane zostały również elementy mające wpływ na lepsze funkcjonowanie ośrodka pomocy społecznej i pracy socjalnej.
This article presented basic issues related to the scope of social work. Moreover, purpose of social work was presented and discussed it was what directions social work should go. In the empirical part some elements of a survey conducted in April 2013 among the social workers of the Family Welfare Centre in Zabrze were presented. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of social work on the financial independence of beneficiaries. Elements affecting better running of the social welfare centre and the social work were also examined.
