Opis:
The article provides a theoretical grounding for understanding personal autobiographical narrative as a way of a life-experience sence-formation. Autobiographical narrative is regarded as a social and mental phenomenon. The author presents a complete analysis of the basic narrative construction forms – descriptive, didactic, emotional-metaphorical ( performative), analytical-theleological, symbolical-semantical. Describing relation of essential features forming autobiographical narration, the author considers among them correspondence of authenticity and identity, logical noncontradiction of a narrative space-and-time demension, nontriviality, tendency toward cognitive complication, interrelations with subject’s existentional expectations, etc. The main conditions forming autobiographical narrative, as described in the article, are: self-explanation, congruence to the subject, self-sufficiency and relativity, self-generation. These conditions make autobiographical narrative means of life-experience self-formation and tools of personal self-construction.
W artykule autorka na poziomie teoretycznym uzasadnia istotę autobiograficznej narracji jako sposobu pojęciowej organizacji życiowego doświadczenia. Pisze także o narracji autobiograficznej jako społecznym i mentalnym fenomenie. Opisuje sposoby budowania autobiograficznej narracji oraz zasady, które charakteryzują utrzymywanie biograficznej narracji: zgodność autentyczności i identyczności subiekta, logiczną niezgodność przestrzenno-czasowego planu, zgodność oczekiwań subiekta itd. W artykule podana jest także charakterystyka podstawowych funkcji narracji, służąca jako środek do pojęciowej organizacji doświadczenia życiowego subiekta.

Artykuł stanowi kontynuację analizy badań, których opis zamieszczony został w niniejszym wydawnictwie w artykule Różnice w rozwiązywaniu problemów fizycznych przez nowicjuszy i ekspertów (Wcisło, Błasiak i inni). Przedmiotem analiz są różnice w rozwiązywaniu problemów matematyczno-fizycznych między nowicjuszami a ekspertami. Wykorzystując rezultaty tego samego eksperymentu z wykorzystaniem technologii eye-trackingowej, lecz stosując inną metodologię badań, przedstawiamy dalsze analizy wyżej wspomnianych wyników. Poszukujemy przyczyn tak dużej liczby błędnych odpowiedzi do zadania. Odpowiadamy na pytanie, czy wiedza potoczna stanowi pomoc, czy przeszkodę w rozwiązaniu tego zadania. Twierdzimy, że przyczyna słabej rozwiązywalności zadania tkwi głębiej – w przeszkodach epistemologicznych związanych z rozumieniem pojęcia funkcji oraz w sposobie wykorzystania wiedzy potocznej i szkolnej, a także w umiejętności utrzymania tzw. dyscypliny myślenia.
The paper presents a further analyses of the research results described in the article Differences in Solving Physics Problems by the Beginners and Experts(Wcisło, Błasiak et alt., here). It also focuses on differences among experts and non-experts in answers to the same science multiply problem with the only one correct answer. Using the same eye-tracking technology but alternative approach to the data analysis we try to find out the reasons of choosing wrong answers by the majority of study participants. We pose the question: Is the everyday life experience an aid or an obstacle to solve a science problem? The research results seem to provide the answer. The crux of solving that kind of problems successfully are: discipline of thinking, overcoming epistemological obstacles connected with understanding the notion of function and the proper usage of the everyday life experience and school knowledge.

SummaryIn this contribution I try to show how E. Stein, E. Levinas and P. Ricoeurexpress their disagreement with Heideggerian conception of being-towards-death and propose their vision of eternity and its experience. The three main images are commented:the death as a discontinuity and condition of a new life, suspension of the time to the resurrection by the other, the intensification of the experience of time.

Opis:
The article – focused on the exploration of the meanings of transgenerational scientific biographies – is a form of a dialogic conversation occurring between two members of the society of Łódź pedagogues. He – emerged in this society as a newcomer arriving from the world of anthropology and ethnography. She – a social pedagogue – made her way there from the circle of the family social work field. In spite of having different disciplinary origins, carrying on a dialog gives them a chance to recognize the paths indicating the existence of their common intellectual and experiencerelated connections. Using these common links, they work together on the interpretation and gradual detection of the signs of unacknowledged past, where ethnography and social pedagogy meet the foundations set by Helena Radlińska and Kazimiera Zawistowicz-Adamska.
Tekst – zorientowany na odkrywanie sensów i znaczeń transgeneracyjnych biografii naukowych – jest formą rozmowy dialogicznej toczącej się pomiędzy dwoma osobami przynależącymi do środowiska łódzkich pedagogów. On pojawił się w nim jako przybysz ze świata antropologii i etnografii, ona – pedagog społeczny – przywędrowała z kręgu terenowej pracy socjalnej z rodziną. Na przekór posiadaniu odrębnych rodowodów dyscyplinarnych, dialogowanie daje im szansę na rozpoznanie tropów wskazujących na istnienie między nimi doświadczeniowo-intelektualnego pokrewieństwa. Bazując na nim, wykonują współdzieloną pracę interpretacyjną, stopniowo odkrywając ślady prowadzące do zapoznanej przeszłości, gdzie etnografia i pedagogika społeczna spotykają się w osobach Heleny Radlińskiej i Kazimiery Zawistowicz-Adamskiej.

The Day Reconstruction Method (DRM) is a structured diary designed to measure time use in a manner that is more valid than traditional written summary measures, but less burdensome than real-time electronic diary methods. The lower respondent burden and administration costs might make it feasible to utilize this method in large national surveys. Past studies using the DRM have generally focused on subjective mood states during different types of activities. In this study, we extended the DRM to also measure suffering from negative symptoms, such as pain and fatigue, in 122 older adults, most of whom suffer from chronic pain. Results indicated that the method was well tolerated in this population, with over 98% of the sample providing interpretable responses. Chronic pain respondents reported spending a considerable proportion of their day suffering from pain, fatigue, and depression; a much higher proportion than reported by healthy controls (p’s < .01). Time spent suffering was associated with lower income, negative mood, and lower life satisfaction and quality of life.

The intention of the author’s study is to show the role of creativity as a perspective of experience in the context of the processes of (whole) life creativity as the need for (self) realization of a human being in development. Creativity and the process of creation – being a coherent unity of thinking, feeling and acting is a kind of full and fulfilled experience. Through the qualitative understanding of human action, man is treated as an entity that creates and transforms the surrounding reality. Each area of activity in which the individual participates is co-created by him. It can be a specific manifestation of synergy (synergy effect), where we obtain multiplied benefits thanks to the skillful combination of the components of the whole. Creativity as a perspective of experience shows the meaning of creative work that gives meaning to life. Creativity (whole) in life was presented as folk art that expresses human psychological needs and as a life story and its expression on the example of the (in) obvious biography of a self-born creator. Creativity (whole) in life, present in folk and self-born creativity confirms its recognition as a personal, social, cognitive and aesthetic value.
Zamiarem autorskim opracowania jest ukazanie roli twórczości jako perspektywy doświadczenia w kontekście procesów twórczości (cało)życiowej jako potrzeby (samo)realizacji człowieka w rozwoju. Twórczość i proces tworzenia – będąc spójną jednością myślenia, doznawania oraz działania – jest rodzajem pełnego i spełnionego doświadczenia. Poprzez jakościowy sposób rozumienia ludzkiego działania człowiek jest traktowany jako podmiot tworzący i przekształcający otaczającą rzeczywistość. Każdy obszar aktywności, w którym jednostka uczestniczy, jest przez nią współtworzony. Może być swoistym przejawem synergii (efektu synergii), gdzie uzyskujemy zwielokrotnione korzyści dzięki umiejętnemu połączeniu składowych całości. Twórczość jako perspektywa doświadczenia ukazuje sens pracy twórczej nadającej sens życiu. Twórczość (cało)życiowa została ukazana jako twórczość ludowa będąca wyrazem psychicznych potrzeb człowieka oraz jako opowieść życia i jego ekspresja na przykładzie (nie)oczywistej biografii samorodnego twórcy. Twórczość (cało)życiowa obecna w twórczości ludowej i samorodnej potwierdza uznanie jej za wartość osobistą, społeczną, poznawczą i estetyczną.

Bliska i krytyczna lektura Użyć literatury Rity Felski oparta jest na a) omówieniu teoretycznych inklinacji i problemów, które generują poszczególne kategorie estetyczne; b) przymierzaniu zaproponowanych przez amerykańską badaczkę kategorii estetycznych do interpretacji konkretnych utworów prozatorskich, lirycznych i eseistycznych Zofii Nałkowskiej, Ingi Iwasiów, Justyny Bargielskiej, Doroty Masłowskiej, Szczepana Twardocha, Andrzeja Ledera.
The article discusses arguments in favour of the importance (or irrelevance) of literature in social life and that appears with a psychological dimension in the work of J. H. Miller, Pierre Bayard, Michał Paweł Markowski, Ryszard Koziołek and, above all, Rita Felski (in her book Uses of Literature), dealing with the most important currents and trends in theoretical reflection on literature in the last quarter century. The author of the article finds the affective turn and the study of relations between life and literature within the context of the domination of discourse by other (new) media not based on writing to be a particularly important encounter in the re-evaluation of literature’s meaning. The author’s close and critical reading of Felski’s Uses of Literature involves a) discussion of the theoretical inclinations and problems that generate individual aesthetic categories; b) application of the American scholar’s proposed aesthetic categories to the interpretation of particular prose, poetic and essayistic works by Zofia Nałkowska, Inga Iwasiów, Justyna Bargielska, Dorota Masłowska, Szczepan Twardoch and Andrzej Leder.

This article explores how Latvian children who were displaced during the Second World War came across their displacement and how they compose the narratives of this childhood experience. Their life story interviews have been preserved in the Latvian National Oral History Archive. Recorded testimonies convey the migration experience in an intense way by vividly depicting the psychological, emotional, and material circumstances that children faced and by revealing common themes relevant to them at the time of the displacement.
Artykuł ukazuje, w jaki sposób łotewskie dzieci, przesiedlone w czasie II wojny światowej, doświadczyły wyjazdu i życia na obczyźnie, oraz to, w jaki sposób tworzą one narracje o tym doświadczeniu z dzieciństwa. Ich historie życia zarejestrowane zostały w wywiadach biograficznych, zarchiwizowanych w łotewskim Narodowym Archiwum Historii Mówionej. W świadectwach tych intensywnie wybija się doświadczenie migracji, a także jej psychologiczne, emocjonalne i materialne okoliczności. Wywiady wskazują także na wspólne tematy, które były istotne dla tych osób w czasie wysiedlenia i pobytu poza krajem pochodzenia.

In this paper I am proposing to investigate some possible connecting points between art, aesthetics and the urban experience, more precisely how the perception and experience of the city as well as the features of urban life can inspire artists. At the same time, I am also curious how artworks can be used to understand this urban experience, as well as how they can be interpreted as not only simple descriptions and depictions, but also as active contributions and modes of suggesting solutions to the most pressing issues of contemporary cities and of city life. Hence my primary aim is discussing some approaches towards the aesthetic analyses of urbanity through modern and contemporary examples. In this way I am focusing less on how the city appears as a mere motive in artworks, or how it is used as main object or background element indicating the context in representations; and I am also not aiming to provide a survey analyses of the numerous ideas of the aesthetics of urbanity. Instead of these, here I am concentrating on how urbanity and the experiencing of the city(life) in itself as well as its multifaceted aspects can become a source of inspiration and at the same time a critically analysed subject, i.e. a concept that is examined through the work itself.

Opis:
Background: A common international research area is being created as a result of linked activities of research centres. Aim of the study: To implement an interdisciplinary approach based on the example of a pilot study of lifestyle and identify connections between physical activity levels (PA), health-related behaviours, and the locus of health control among students. Material and methods: The research was carried out using 294 students of human sciences (235 females and 59 males) aged 18-24. A diagnostic survey method was chosen using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Health-Related Behaviour Inventory (HBI) and Health Locus of Control Scale (MHLC). Results: Total PA was assessed at 3829.3 MET-min/week. The dominant types of activities were walking (1245 MET-min/week) and moderate PA (1254 MET-min/week). Higher values in intensive and moderate efforts were reported among the male students, while women reported higher values in walking. The general severity index HBI is 72-93 points. There were no significant gender-related differences regarding the general indicator (except for the increased frequency of low health-related behaviours among females). Respondents mostly presented with internal locus of control with influence of others being reported less frequently, and accident locus of control least frequently. The analysis revealed a correlation between the internal placement of MHLC and PA among men (r=0.226, p<0.01) and individual HBI indices among women. Conclusions: Most young people present a sufficient level of PA, desirable HBI, and, to a large extent, the internal locus of MHLC. The participants had a greater sense of responsibility for their own health. Females, when deciding on a lifestyle, are more easily influenced by other people. It is necessary to conduct interdisciplinary group work for comparative research in order to create educational and preventive programs addressing identified lifestyle abnormalities.

The article presents a strict interpenetration of scientific discourse and literary fiction on the example of Zolaʼs La Joie de vivre. The coexistence of these discourses is part of the poetics of ambiguity, which is characteristic of the weave of literature and science, where Science opposes Doubt. The purpose of the article is to reflect on the relationship between Experience (everyday life) and Experience (scientific). This conceptual opposition is embodied in a pair of main characters: Pauline and Lazare, equipped with a different attitude to reality and science. She learns human physiology by experiencing changes in her maturing body, which appears to her as a complex, but full of secrets, beautiful machinery. He lives by fearing the body and seeing it as the source of death. He wants to defeat death by coming up with experimental designs that are supposed to make him great and bring immortality. His failures lead him to Doubt and negation of science. Zola decides nothing balancing between knowledge and doubt, affirmation of life and the inevitability of death.

The article presents the results of the evaluation of the relationship between the way of shaping public space related to ensuring sustainable mobility in the city and the experiences of users influencing the perceptible quality of life. The assessment was carried out for one of the medium-sized cities, which was included in the list of cities threatened with exclusion. The subject of the evaluation was the city multimodal centreorganised around the railway station in Nysa. The aim of the research was to identify a selected, small group of key challenges and recommendations aimed at improving user experience in using a multimodal centre in the city. The article highlights the role of service infrastructure (stops, stations, transfer centres) in the ecosystem of sustainable urban mobility. Each element of this ecosystem (designed in accordance with the idea of universal design) can have a significant impact on the improvement of the perceptible (declared) quality of life in the city, if the applied solutions positively influence the user’s experience (including the sense of comfort and care). The authors focused on the current state of play in order to identify the key areas of intervention needed to improve the user experience in using the multimodal centre in a small and medium sized city. Attention was paid not only to the aspect of infrastructure accessibility, but also to the relations between urban, architectural and engineering solutions in the context of their impact on the assessment of the multimodal centre in terms of its usefulness in three dimensions: functional, rational and perceptible. The summary outlines the process of achieving from the basic solution standard to interoperability. This knowledge will allow better decision making in the planning of user-oriented projects in the city. This may be of particular importance when the conscious objective of the action is to achieve the level of interoperability expected by users of facilities such as, inter alia, a multimodal centre, which is one element of an urban public space with a significant impact on the quality of life of the citizen.

The article is a presentation of the contents of one of the diary by Halina Semenowicz, promoter of Celestin Freinet’s techniques in Polish education, from the perspective of biographical experience. The author wishes to familiarize the reader with the most important aspects of life and activity of Halina Semenowicz reflected in the diary and thoughts after reading. The author describes the most important areas of Halina Semenowicz’s life, such as family, free time, professional activity, religion and social and political life, which she describes and reflects upon in her calendar. Transfers diaries are a source of analysis used in many educational research, including andragogical. This biographical research interest stems from the belief that reading a biography, not only of outstanding people, carries a significant educational potential. Subjectivity of a diary is obvious, and emotional, sincere statements are the basis and condition of “truthfulness” of articulated thoughts. These features can encourage the diary readers to deepen their knowledge of many cultural phenomena and social relationships in which the entries were created.
