Opis:
From the issues of expressive lexis – pilchThe object of this article is the description and interpretation of the semantic development of the pilch lexeme. In its basic meaning this word means a mammal from the Gliridae family. Pilch has already been known in pre-Slavic language and is also confirmed in the historical dictionaries of the Polish language. The historical material documents only the zoological meaning of the lexeme, while in the local dialects one can observe the semantic development of this unit. Pilch, next to indicating various animals, occurs also as a word describing 1. a mean person 2. a bad-natured person, 3. little child. Pilch is an interesting example of a lexical unit that primarily denominates an animal but which extended its meaning and became a personal expressivism as a result of connotations occurring in the folk culture.

The transformation of a meaning of prostotaThis article is dedicated to the evolution of one of prostota lexeme meaning (and prostoć, prostość as well) – its human mental sphere significance. The analysis (definitions and examples) expands over the Polish language dictionary since its beginning till modernity. There were two main meanings of a lexeme prostota from the Old Polish till the end of the XVII century – positively characterised straight meaning regarding morality, directly linked to religious attitude and the second one, referring to mental and intelectual ability of individual, negatively regarding its undernormative features. It transformed during the XVIII century – the disredarding meaning disappeared, the first, religious aspect expanded over morality, customs, the way of living, simultanously drifting away from its religious significance.Throught the history of the prostota lexeme there was a short period regarding to a lack of culture and misbehaviour but dissapeared quickly with uprising of a prostactwo lexeme. Since the XIX century the dominating feature of prostota lexeme is being natural in a positive way. Besides the modifications of the lexeme and the transformation of its meanings prostota was mostly referring to positive values, which are the only meanings now.

In this article we find lexicographical reflections on the German (and Polish) dictionaries primarily in the context of the amount and structure of the contained therein lexemes. The author weaves considerations about the type of dictionary entries and how they can be lemmatised, eg. putting in dictionaries often only parts of compound words (eg. Affen-, Hunde-, -frei, -hungrig) to productively contribute to the development of vocabulary (eg. Affenschnell, Hundehitze, sozialversicherungsfrei, sexhungrig). The article also touched upon the issue of online dictionaries (digitized) and the increasingly important issue of foreign words, particularly English. The object of the considerations are mainly the Duden dictionaries, and also Wordbooks from Adelung, Klappenbach / Steinitz, Doroszewski, Zgółkowa, Żmigrodzki et al.

Discussion regarding the use and nature of the term “truth” in John’s (Corpus Johanneum) has a long record going back to the XIX century. Scholars of such a calibre as were Dodd or Bultmann drew their attention to Hellenic circles (including Platonic and Gnostic) as the main source of inspiration for John’s interpretation of truth. However, over the course of time, we have noticed a turn towards enhancement of literature of Judaism of that time, including texts from Qumran. After discussing status questionis lexeme alētheia was analysed in the texts of Corpus Johanneum. Conclusions resulting from the analysis lead to the view focusing on non-homogeneous influences and also on a considerable contribution of John’s own circles and that of the early Church.

Opis:
In Serbian theolinguistics, there is a good terminological and theoretical basis for research of sacral functional stylistics complex, e.g. functional varieties and genres of the literary language determined by sacral spheres and aims of communication. In this paper, about 160–170 lexical units from two texts of this sphere and literary style have been analyzed. The first one is novel Lavr, translated into Serbian from Russian and the second is Service of the Icon of the Mother of God Velikore - m e t s k a – translated into Serbian from the Church-Slavonic language. The first genre (novel) belongs to both the sacral and profane sphere, while the second one (service) is a genre belonging to the sacral sphere only. Stylematic characteristics of lexical units from these texts have been analyzed, mostly on lexical, phonetic-morphological and derivational language levels. In almost all cases (except terminology) stylistically adequate lexemes have been opposed to stylistically neutral (or other) synonym(s). Although we already know what basic constitutive elements of sacral functional stylistics complex (churchslavonisms and archaisms) are, there is not enough synchronic stylistic research of concrete material belonging to sacral functional stylistics complex in the Serbian linguistics. This offered here is one of the first and we hope it to be stimulating for other researchers, so that we can create a bigger list of stylistic adequate lexemes used in sacral genres. This will be useful not only for stylistics of sacral genres, but also for the theory and practice of translation, as well as to Serbian and Slavic theolinguistics.

Univerbization is a process of word-formation by which the words of a compound lexeme or of a syntactic construction fuse into a single word/one-word lexeme: that one-word lexeme is called univerbizate (in Czech univerbizát - a result of the process of univerbization), for example: světový rekord (world rekord - compound lexeme) - svěťák (an „univerbizate”); mikrovlnná trouba (microwave oven - compound lexeme) - mikrovlnka (an „univerbizate”). The „univerbizates” are almost derived by suffix from one of the word of compound lexeme (světový - svěťák, mikrovlnný - mikrovlnka). Czech national corpus evidences that there are many „univerbizates” in contemporary Czech texts. We are going to find the „univerbizates” in corpora SYN2000, SYN2005, SYN2006pub that have the same language form and different meaning, but we assume that the meaning of the „univerbizates” with the same language form are connected with one another. The univerbizates can have the same language form like: - other „univerbizates”, for example dvouletka means: a) dvouletá rostlina, for example pupalka dvouletá (evening primrose); b) dvouleté období (two-year/biennial cycle); - other words, that are not called „univerbizates”, for example dopravák a) dopravák (an „univerbizate”) means dopravní policista (traffic policeman, transit cop); b) when dopravák means zaměstnanec ve sféře dopravy („some persone working in the sphere of transportation and traffic”), it is not an „univerbizate”. We are going to deal with process of „univerbization” by which words of various compound lexeme or various syntactic structures fuse into the same one-word lexeme. We will compare frequency of them and stylish characteristics.

Opis:
The article continues to analyze the lexeme alētheia in the NT texts, aside from the Corpus Johanneum. The conclusions of the analysis point to a heterogeneity of influence. The inspiration has been observed to come both from the classic interpretation of the term (that of conformity to the reality) as well as its usage in the Old Testament or the literature of the Second Temple Judaism. The Synoptic authors in the vast majority used the lexeme alētheia in the meaning of the correspondent definition (that of conformity to the physical and metaphysical reality), and also in a manner similar to the Hebrew meaning of amen. Referring to the Old Testament announcements, they pointed to the fulfillment of the promises in the person of Jesus Christ and in the life of the early Church. According to Matthew and Mark, Jesus did not use this term, while Luke recorded several such instances, one of which is particularly interesting (Luke 16:11). His use of the adjective alēthinos in the parable shows physical goods in juxtaposition with true goods, and the context indicates the initiation base, similar to Jas 1:18 and 2 Pt 2,12. Paul used the lekseme alētheia in its various shades and configurations (the truth of God, the word of truth, the knowledge of truth, the reception of truth, and the truth of Christ). Besides the classic interpretation, he can be said to have contributed to the emergence of synonymy between the concepts of "truth" and "The Gospel". The term was used in a similar way in the letters of James and Peter. This shows the influence of the Qumran literature or – in more general terms – the theological and linguistic concepts of the early Judaism. We can also find specific examples of associating truth directly with the person of Jesus of Nazareth. Truth possesses not only intellectual value, nor is it equal to doctrine, but there has to be consistency between words and deeds, doctrine and morality.

This paper deals with the names for both living and dead bodies, more particularly OE lic and lichama, OE bodig and finally ME corpse. The main focus will be on the contrast between semantic dynamics and boundedness, together with what we refer to as semantic redeployment. Body proves to be a very dynamic lexeme. In addition, it also contributed to the system of grammaticalized quantifier pronouns. This is in sharp contrast with the boundedness of lic and lichama, which gradually got lost in the course of ME. Initially, the loan lexeme corpse seemed to follow the semantic paradigm of body. However, in present-day English it has only preserved its prototypical meaning of dead body. Interestingly, my data suggest that words related to ‘death’ do not tend to give rise to any metonymical or metaphorical developments. The eventual result of these lexico-semantic changes is a far-reaching redeployment in Modern English in terms of a binary contrast between two lexical items: polysemous body, with a vast array of mostly metaphorical meanings, and monosemous corpse.
