Aby w należyty sposób rozwiązać problemy związane z brakiem organizacji na poszczególnych miejscach pracy, niezbędne jest właściwe poznanie i rozszyfrowanie każdego z elementów Systemu 5S oraz wdrożenie.
The main purpose of introducing the 5S System was to increase productivity, better organize work on the assembly hall. Tidiness have a major impact on the stability of processes and the elimination of waste. The fact that it improves the safety of employees' work is also an added advantage. It teaches the discipline necessary to maintain standards. In order to properly solve the problems associated with the lack of organization on individual workplaces, it is necessary to properly learn and decipher each of the elements of the 5S System and implement them.

W artykule poruszono problematykę identyfikacji strat spowodowanych niewystarczającym wsparciem procesów szpitalnych przez systemy IT. Problematyka ta dotyczy zarówno zarządzania procesami, jak i systemami informatycznymi. Straty w procesach są wynikiem niewłaściwych procedur lub/i niedostatecznej funkcjonalności rozwiązań informatycznych i zgodnie z filozofią Lean Management powinny być sukcesywnie eliminowane. Na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych w Uniwersyteckim Szpitalu Klinicznym w Opolu zaproponowano metodykę identyfikacji i oceny przyczyn strat. Wykorzystuje ona specjalny kwestionariusz opracowany zgodnie z założeniami metodyki badań w działaniu (ang. Action Research). Zidentyfikowane straty są kwantyfikowane w odniesieniu do częstotliwości ich występowania, skutków oraz kosztów, jakie są z nimi związane. Wykorzystanie zaproponowanej metodyki zaprezentowano na przykładzie procesu planowych zabiegów operacyjnych. Zidentyfikowano oraz oceniono straty, które występują w tym procesie i są związane z jego niewystarczającym wsparciem poprzez systemy IT. Ilościowa charakterystyka wskazuje na te luki, których likwidacja jest najistotniejsza z perspektywy usprawnienia procesów i na których eliminacji zarząd powinien się skoncentrować w pierwszej kolejności. Zaproponowane podejście jest nastawione na wdrażanie koncepcji Lean Management prowadzącej do ciągłego doskonalenia procesów poprzez coraz pełniejsze wykorzystywanie IT.

Opis:
Value stream mapping (VSM) is a well-known lean analytical tool in identifying wastes, value, value stream, and flow of materials and information. However, process variability is a waste that traditional VSM cannot define or measure since it is considered as a static tool. For that, a new model named Variable Value Stream Mapping (V-VSM) was developed in this study to integrate VSM with risk management (RM) using Monte Carlo simulation. This model is capable of generating performance statistics to define, analyze, and show the impact of variability within VSM. The platform of this integration is under Deming’s Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to systematically implement and conduct V-VSM model. The model has been developed and designed through literature investigation and reports that lead in defining the main four concepts named as; Continuous Improvement, Data Variability, Decision-Making, and Data Estimation. These concepts can be considered as connecting points between VSM, RM and PDCA.

Artykuł zawiera przegląd ważnych aspektów, które należy wziąć pod uwagę w trakcie kształtowania organizacji inteligentnej (OI), patrząc z perspektywy koncepcji Lean Management (LM) oraz narzędzi z tej kategorii, które można zastosować w celu formowania nowej struktury organizacyjnej, jaką jest OI. W początkowej części artykułu omówiono koncepcję OI oraz dokonano próby wskazania jej cech charakterystycznych. Następnie zaprezentowano koncepcję LM oraz pokrótce omówiono wybrane narzędzia, które można wykorzystać przy próbie formowania OI. Skupiono się na próbie dobrania i dopasowania narzędzi LM tak, aby przeanalizować, czy wdrożenie wybranego narzędzia będzie wspierało osiągnięcie jednej z charakterystycznych cech OI. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano wybrane narzędzia z szerokiej gamy instrumentów LM oraz przedstawiono, w jaki sposób owe narzędzia mogą pozytywnie wpływać na określone cechy OI. Skupiono się na rozwiązaniach możliwych do zaimplementowania w środowisku firm o charakterze produkcyjnym, gdyż sam Lean oraz jego charakterystyczne narzędzia wywodzą się z tradycji firm z tego segmentu. Intencją tej publikacji jest poszerzenie zbioru aktualnej wiedzy teoretycznej jako punktu wyjścia, który może posłużyć za odniesienie dla praktycznych badań naukowców.

This study aims to investigate the effects of lean management implementation on public sector performance along with the critical success factors of its implementation. The cross-sectional quantitative survey collected 131 responses from public organisations in Malaysia selected through a stratified random sampling procedure. Data were analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach with SmartPLS 4 professional. Lean resources, lean culture, and lean knowledge management are critical success factors for implementing lean management in the Malaysian public sector. Subsequently, the holistic implementation of lean management will enhance their performance. This study provides a practical viewpoint for practitioners to understand and validate the potential benefits lean management can sustain if implemented with the critical success factors. As a result, practitioners and policymakers could use the insight from this study to tailor strategies for leveraging public sectors' performance in Malaysia.

Due to the high level of losses and food waste nowadays, the problem become global. The main causes of food loss in households are: exceeding shelf life, excessive purchases, damage and low quality, additionally excessive portions of meals, wrong food storage, the bad taste of the product, lack of idea on how to use available ingredients, as well as reckless purchases, too large packaging. Negative effects of food loss can be grouped into three areas: environmental, economic and social, consistent with sustainable development's basic goals. The aim of this article is to present an original proposal for an approach to Lean Society philosophy with respect to the problem of food loss. The authors reviewed conventional and unconventional methods of food preservation, identified available and innovative solutions in terms of reducing food loss and indicated directions and opportunities for reducing food loss on the basis of Lean Society philosophy.
Ze względu na wysoki poziom strat i marnowania żywności w dzisiejszych czasach, problem stał się globalny. Głównymi przyczynami strat żywności w gospodarstwach domowych są: przekroczenie terminu przydatności do spożycia, nadmierne zakupy, zniszczenia i niska jakość, dodatkowo nadmierne porcje posiłków, niewłaściwe przechowywanie żywności, zły smak produktu, brak pomysłu na wykorzystanie dostępnych składników, jak również a także lekkomyślne zakupy, zbyt duże opakowanie. Negatywne skutki utraty żywności można pogrupować w trzy obszary: środowiskowy, ekonomiczny i społeczny, zgodny z podstawowymi celami zrównoważonego rozwoju. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie oryginalnej propozycji podejścia do filozofii Lean Society w odniesieniu do problemu utraty żywności. Autorzy dokonali przeglądu konwencjonalnych i niekonwencjonalnych metod utrwalania żywności.

This paper presents the concept and methodology for the designing of a “tree-shaped” production line. The concept is a result of the search for production unit organization that meets the Lean Production assumptions, i.e. focusing on lead time (throughput time) shortening with simultaneous ability of use in conditions of varied product range. The varied product range characterized by lower technological-organizational similarity when compared to “Ushaped” units typical for Lean Production. The paper presents an algorithm for the designing of a “tree-shaped” production line and examples of its application. The designed unit underwent evaluation according to the criteria preferred by Lean Manufacturing experts. The designed production unit achieved results confirming the effectiveness of the proposed concept for the analysed sets of input data on the product range and production capacities.

Purpose: The construction industry has one of the most important roles in any countries economy, despite of that, construction projects remain under the spotlight when compared to other industries projects due to its special nature and scope, with their increase of complexity which by default increases the amount of changes occurring therefore rising the risks of low performance, which is already an issue in the sector, construction management is facing more challenges than ever, this research paper was carried out in order to provide possible alternatives for the traditional way of managing construction projects. Design/Methodology/Approach: A literature review was carried out exploring the necessities of implementing agile management in the field in order to coop with the increasing complexity and uncertainty of construction projects therefore increasing the overall performance, alongside identifying the potentials and limitations of such an approach. Findings: As a result it was found that a tailored approach could be the answer to improve the whole sector and bring it up to date, using an integration of various methods of lean and agile management with traditional waterfall method, the agile management tools do show promising potential for the dynamic project nature which shows the importance of such an implementation. Originality/Value: This paper provides cognitive scientific value by adding needed knowledge in a relatively immature research area for the practical development of one of the largest industries.

Lean Manufacturing is a profound system designed to enhance every manufacturing industry's efficiency by reducing waste through internationally recognized tools and techniques. Enterprises of all sizes and industries strive to adopt Lean Manufacturing (LM) concepts to maximize their resources, such as personnel, facilities, materials, and operating schedules, to be economically effective. There are several models for implementing Lean philosophy in enterprises. The conducted research is aimed at reviewing and conceptualizing the LM system implementation framework in the enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe. The analysis was based on the results of surveys conducted in micro, small, medium and large enterprises, mainly in production, trade and service organizations. As a result, among others, the main premises, methods and benefits of implementing the LM system, thus identifying the specificity of the concept in the context of the size of enterprises and the industry from which they come, were indicated. The originality is the analysis of the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of Lean activities, distinguishing the size of the organization from the group of micro, small, medium and large organizations (MSME). The research results show that the LM implementation model in enterprises from Central and Eastern Europe is based on the Shingo model.
Produkcja szczupła to rozbudowany system zaprojektowany w celu zwiększenia wydajności każdej branży produkcyjnej poprzez redukcję odpadów dzięki uznanym na arenie międzynarodowej narzędziom i technikom. Przedsiębiorstwa niezależnie od wielkości i branży starają się przyjąć koncepcje Lean Manufacturing (LM) , aby zmaksymalizować swoje zasoby, takie jak personel, obiekty, materiały i harmonogramy działania, aby były ekonomicznie efektywne. Istnieje kilka modeli implementacji filozofii Lean w przedsiębiorstwach. Realizowane badania mają na celu dokonanie przeglądu i konceptualizacji ram wdrożeń systemu LM w przedsiębiorstwach w Europie ŚrodkowoWschodniej. Analizę oparto na wynikach z badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w mikro, małych, średnich i dużych przedsiębiorstwach, głównie w organizacjach produkcyjnych, handlowych i usługowych. W rezultacie wyłoniono m. in. główne przesłanki, sposoby oraz korzyści z wdrożeń systemu LM identyfikując dzięki temu specyfiki koncepcji w kontekście wielkości przedsiębiorstw oraz branży z których pochodzą. Oryginalnością jest przeanalizowanie skuteczności, efektywności oraz wydajności działań Lean w rozróżnieniu na wielkość organizacji z grupy mikro, małych, średnich i dużych organizacji (MSME). Wyniki badań skazują że model wdrożenia LM w przedsiębiorstwach z Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej oparty jest na modelu Shingo.

Celem artykułu jest sformułowanie odpowiedzi na pytanie: czy prakseologiczna ocena sprawności działania może stanowić utylitarną ocenę efektów działań doskonalących w ramach implementacji podejścia lean management? Autor przeprowadził przegląd literatury źródłowej z obszaru podejścia lean management, koncentrując się na metodach identyfikacji oraz oszacowania marnotrawstwa występującego w procesach stanowiących ocenę dla podejmowanych działań doskonalących. Powyższe rekomendacje miar zostały zestawione z prakseologiczną miarą sprawności działania. W efekcie uzyskano rekomendację dla zasadności stosowania oceny działań implementujących lean management w procesach z wykorzystaniem prakseologicznej metody miary sprawności działania procesu w podejściu zarówno ex ante, jak i ex post.
The aim of the article is to formulate an answer to the question whether the praxeological assessment of operational efficiency may constitute a utilitarian assessment of the effects of improvement actions as part of the implementation of the lean management approach. The author conducted a review of the source literature in the area of the lean management approach, focusing on the methods of identification and evaluation of waste occurring in the processes constituting an assessment for the improvement activities undertaken. The above recommendations of measures were juxtaposed with the praxeological assessment of operational efficiency. As a result, a recommendation was obtained for the legitimacy of using the evaluation of actions implementing lean management in processes with the use of the praxeological method of evaluating the efficiency of the process, both in the ex ante and ex post approach.

Lean thinking and Industry 4.0 have been broadly investigated in recent years in intelligent manufacturing. Lean Production is still one of the most efficient industrial solutions in business and research, despite being implemented for a long time. On the other hand, Industry 4.0 has been introduced referring to the fourth industrial revolution. This study aims to analyze the combination of both Industry 4.0 and Lean production practices through a systematic literature review from a Lean Automation perspective. In this field, 189 articles are examined using VOSviewer for cluster analysis. Then, a more detailed analysis is provided to explore how Industry 4.0 and Lean techniques are integrated from a practical perspective. Results highlighted Big Data Analysis and Value Stream Mapping as the most common techniques, also emphasizing a growing trend toward new publications. Nevertheless, few practical applications are identified in the literature highlighting six gaps in the correlation of LA practices.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the benefits of using selected Lean Management elements in the production process on the example of a company producing mechanical seals. Design/methodology/approach: The article is theoretical and empirical in nature and is based on the analysis of a selected case. In the empirical part, the analysis concerns selected elements of the production process in the examined enterprise. Findings: The results obtained in the article refer to the benefits of using Lean Management in the production process in the analyzed enterprise. The use of identification and elimination of waste and standardization of activities at workplaces (introduction of job instructions) in selected areas of the production process allowed for the improvement of its parameters, which was presented in the article. Research limitations/implications: The limitations in the empirical area could be the reference only to selected aspects of Lean Management and the analyzed process. Future research will cover the broader scope of Lean Management and other companies. Practical implications: The results of the case study show the direct impact of Lean Management on the parameters of the analyzed production process. Thanks to the use of Lean Management, the process parameters have improved, which is an important factor in the context of the effectiveness of the company's functioning as a system. Originality/value: The added value of the article is the practical presentation of the use of Lean Management to improve the parameters of the production process.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to present the results of research on needs and possibilities of implementing Lean Management concept at the university. Using the literature review and the results of empirical research, author proposes specific solutions (tools). Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the research was carried out on the basis of latest world literature review and empirical research conducted at a Polish university, the domain of which is practical education. The article is a case study with a proposal for the implementation of LM in a selected university. The research covered selected organizational units of universities. Findings: Recommendations for the use of selected Lean tools is the need to rationalize the activities undertaken in universities, including continuous improvement and flexibility of processes. There are economically justifiable actions to reduce waste and losses occurring in universities, as well as the integration of diversified and often non-cooperating organizational (functional) units. The proposals presented in this article may become an inspiration for universities that are thinking about implementing previously unused improvement tools. Research limitations/implications: Empirical research has been limited to one university, and the proposed methods and tools relate to selected functional areas. LM implementation requires prior analysis of the needs and capabilities of each organization. Practical implications: Due to the functioning of universities in an increasingly difficult to predict environment, they are forced to look for ways not only to survive, but above all to continuously improve the entire organization. The implemented rationalization and development measures should contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of management. Unpredictable changes concern the legal, socio-cultural, economic and economic environment, as well as the COVID-19 epidemic situation. These challenges are met by the concept of LM - as an inspiration and an opportunity to accelerate remedial and pro-development actions. Originality/value: The article is dedicated to people interested in the theory and practice of the LM concept. The use of the methods and tools proposed by the author in various functional areas of the university may bring about beneficial changes in the form of improvements in activities, time savings, as well as rationalization and greater efficiency of the implemented processes.

Opis:
The main purpose of the paper is to identify and analyse a state of exploratory motivating factors in terms of lean management as the instrument of a policy of human resource management in the face of COVID-19 pandemic implemented in service companies. The main question is: if the motivation system used in the companies works out up against the unpredictable situation such as COVID-19 pandemic? The secondary purpose of the paper is to recognise relations and dependencies between these factors, and the question is: what factors have the strongest or the weakest relations with Lean Staff Management (LSM) tools? This research designed based on interview was conducted due to the lack of existing studies on the current status of motivating factors in terms of lean management tools in two service companies (case studies) in the light of COVID-19. The results show that factors influencing work efficiency in a dominating manner were, primarily, financial incentives (almost 21%), communications (around 21%), and workplace atmosphere (almost 18%). The paper investigates also the benefits and concerns of implementing LSM in service companies during the pandemic. This research might help the service organization’s management to identify the employees‘ problems to implement more effective lean services.

W opracowaniu przedstawiono w jaki sposób fabularne gry scenariuszowe mogą zostać wykorzystane jako efektywna forma przekazywania wiedzy. Badanie poprzedzono kwerendą literatury. Artykuł opisuje przebieg prac, których efektem było utworzenie komputerowej gry edukacyjnej wykorzystującej koncepcję oraz narzędzia zwinnego zarządzania. Proponowany model grywalizacji procesu edukacji powstał w wyniku analizy studium przypadku projektu TY Classes Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Menadżerów Logistyki. Celem publikacji jest wypełnienie luki badawczej w procesie grywalizacji oraz zdobywania wiedzy. Efekty pracy są wynikiem identyfikacji dobrych praktyk realizowanych przez organizację oraz działań przetestowanych w warunkach rynkowych. Dzięki przeprowadzeniu cyklu spotkań wśród uczniów szkół ponadpodstawowych oraz studentów kierunków powiązanych z łańcuchem dostaw, udało się zidentyfikować luki kompetencyjne w zakresie zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem. Wynikiem tej pracy jest gra, w której zadaniem uczestnika jest tworzenie produktów spożywczych dla konsumentów. W trakcie rozgrywki gracz powinien wykorzystać koncepcję lean management, dzięki czemu będzie mógł uzyskać lepszy wynik i przejść do kolejnego etapu gry. Stworzono narzędzie, będące przede wszystkim połączeniem nauki i rozrywki, pomagające zdobyć wiedzę i nabyć umiejętności, które są bardzo atrakcyjne dla młodzieży.
The study presents how role-playing scenario games can be used as an effective form of knowledge transfer. A literature search preceded the study. The article describes the course of work that resulted in creating an educational computer game using the concept and tools of lean management. The proposed model of gamification of the educational process was created as a result of the analysis of the case study of the TY Classes project by the Polish Supply Management Leaders. The publication aims to fill the research gap in gamification and knowledge acquisition. The effects of the work are the result of identifying good practices implemented by the organization and activities tested in market conditions. By conducting a series of meetings among secondary school students and students of faculties related to the supply chain, it was possible to identify competence gaps in business management. The result of this work is a game in which the participant's task is to create food products for consumers. During the game, the player should use the concept of lean management, thanks to which he will be able to obtain a better score and move to the next stage of the game. A tool has been created that is, above all, a combination of learning and entertainment, helping to acquire knowledge and gain skills that are very attractive to young people.
