    Wstęp i cel: System liczebnikowy języka norweskiego jest podobny do systemów występujących w innych językach skandynawskich, z grupy germańskiej. W artykule przedstawione zostaną systemy liczebnikowe języków duńskiego, norweskiego, szwedzkiego oraz islandzkiego, przeprowadzona zostanie także analiza porównawcza form liczebnikowych danych języków. Materiał i metody: Analiza tekstów i materiałów źródłowych, pozwala na komparatystykę liczebników w systemach gramatycznych wspomnianych języków. W artykule zastosowano metodę analityczno-porównawczą. Wyniki: Przedstawienie ciekawych form użycia form liczebnikowych w języku norweskim daje możliwość pogłębienia edukacji w zakresie systemu liczebnikowego danego języka, zaś porównanie wyników analiz interesujących przykładów z sytuacją występującą w języku polskim, pozwala na uzyskanie szerszej perspektywy badań. Wniosek: Artykuł ma charakter edukacyjny oraz porównawczy i analizuje sytuację językową w zakresie liczebników, występującą głownie w języku norweskim oraz przedstawioną poprzez pryzmat języków skandynawskich oraz języka polskiego.
    Introduction and aim: The Norwegian numeral system is similar to existing systems in the other Scandinavian languages, from the Germanic group. The article presents the numeral systems of Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Icelandic languages, and a comparative analysis of numerical forms of given languages will be carried out. Material and methods: Analysis of texts and source materials allows comparison of numerals in grammatical systems of the mentioned languages. The article uses the analytical and comparative method. Results: Presentation of interesting forms of the use of numeral forms in Norwegian gives the opportunity to improve the education in the field of the numeral system of a given language, while the comparison of the results of interesting examples and the situation in Polish allows for a wider research perspective. Conclusion: The article is educational and comparative and analyzes the language situation in terms of numerals, occurring mainly in Norwegian and presented through the prism of the Scandinavian and Polish languages.

    Opis:
    General Typology and Historical Typology. Selected Aspects of Methodology The author of this paper seeks to explore certain mechanisms and rules that collate and shape the types of systemic organization of various languages spoken all over the world, which appear irrespective of the degree of genetic relationship between those languages. The discussed mechanisms are to be divided here into two main groups: the first, which use universal features and are catalogued within contemporary linguistic typology as linguistic universals (see Joseph Greenberg’s linguistic universals) and the second, which use historical – typological features and are a subject of historical – comparative research that aims at discovering the correlation between language changes at difrerent levels of language systems. Both universal features as well as historical – typological features are closely related to one another, hence general typologies may justify particular theories using various types of research methods that examine and evaluate the origins of the language in question. The author tries to prove that typology, being a universal research tool, on the one hand, enables scholars and researchers to reduce or even eliminate discrepancies between synchronic and diachronic perspectives, on the other hand, however, exceeds the limits of interpretations that rely only on the existing relatedness between the languages or their affiliation to the same language family.

    Opis:
    The main point of view demonstrated in the present paper is to express criticism to those program of foreign language studies which still rely on the traditional approach to language education and favor the development of linguistic competence in students. Harmonious functioning of the contemporary world depends, to much extent, on human coexistence and communication both on the micro and macro scale. In the case of the macro scale contacts, the English language has been sanctioned an international means of communication. The examination of the Internet resources with reference to higher education language programs of studies as well as programs oered by some language schools, shows that the teaching/learning process is mainly concentrated on developing students' linguistic competence. The Polish reality of practical English application in a variety of situations shows that the language user's knowledge, when limited to the linguistic sphere only, is not sucient. Therefore, the aim of the present paper is to turn the reader's attention to the need of verication of educational policy, adopted by many higher education institutions, and expand the oered programs of studies by courses directing the teaching/learning process at the functional approach. Hence, the suggested in the present discussion approach would rely on giving priority to the development of communicative competence, instead of linguistic.

    Opis:
    This paper focuses on policy of mother tongue education in Slavonic countries like the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovakia and Poland. The presented article covers mainly issues concerning language policy in the context of teaching of national languages. The comparison shows that the common history of Slavs and socio-geographical factors don’t play important role in planning of the L1 Slavonic educational systems. The analysis reveals also the lack of interdependence between the Slavonic national curriculum. That is why the author proposes new direction in comparative studies to include the mother tongue education in the process of building the regional, cultural and economic community of the Slavs.

    Artykuł prezentuje korzyści wynikające z wykorzystania językoznawstwa diachronicznego w metodach nauczania języków obcych. Autor odnosi się do badań Jamesa M. Strattona i omawia dwa podejścia do włączenia diachronii do edukacji. Przedstawiono autorski program dziennych studiów pierwszego stopnia, który pozwalałby na opanowanie dwóch lub trzech blisko spokrewnionych języków obcych na poziomie B2+. Omówiono również alternatywny wariant programu oraz kryteria kwalifikacyjne dla potencjalnych kandydatów. Ostatecznie, artykuł prezentuje projekt kursu, który mógłby stanowić kamień węgielny dla wcześniej omówionych kierunków studiów i byłby potencjalnie łatwiejszy we wdrożeniu ze względu na kwestie administracyjne i kadrowe.
    The article outlines the advantages of incorporating diachronic linguistics into foreign language instruction. It defines key terms and references recent research by James M. Stratton. Two approaches to integrating diachrony into education are discussed. The author delves into a proposed unique first-degree full-time study program (using a program tailored to the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich) that would enable students to master two to three closely related foreign languages at the B2+ level. An alternative version of the program and suggested admission requirements are also presented. Finally, a course project is introduced, which could serve as a cornerstone for the aforementioned fields of study and would be easier to implement due to administrative and staffing reasons.

    The jubilee volume “Slavica Wratislaviensia”, CLIX: Wyraz i zdanie w językach słowiańskich (8), is a collection of contributions by pupils, collegues, and friends, dedicated to Professor Jan Sokołowski slavist of Wroclaw University, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The publication topics covered subjects connected with researches on word and sentence in Slavic languages, their description, comparative and contrastive studies, and translation. They take up important current topics, reliably and comprehensively analyze problems that have not been noticed before or have not been solved yet. Due to the selection of topics and high scientific level (most authors are renowned linguists) the volume should be considered as representative for contemporary Slavic linguistics.
