The paper presents the analysis of spatial suburbanization using a multiindicator method. Based on features related to geodetic areas (according to the directions of their use) such as built-up areas, urbanised lands, arable lands, residential, recreation and leisure areas, road transport areas as well agricultural and forest areas transformed into local land development plans - six suburbanization indicators were developed. After the standardisation of such indicators, a summary index was obtained making it possible to determine the suburbanization degree. The validation of the proposed method was made by comparing individual municipalities with the unit type determined using the Webb method. The analysis made it clear that the only four units with spatial features of the city lying in the proximity of Warsaw, for which Polish capital could be enlarged are: Piastów, Pruszków, Marki, Józefów and possibly Sulejówek.

Wartykule zaprezentowano zmiany w zakresie struktury użytkowania ziemi w powiecie toruńskim w latach 2003–2009. Szczegółowej analizie poddano następujące podgrupy i rodzaje użytków: użytki rolne (grunty orne, użytki zielone), grunty leśne oraz tereny zabudowane i zurbanizowane. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono terenom mieszkaniowym, których areał koncentruje się w określonych częściach powiatu.
The paper deals with changes of land use structure in Toruń district in years 2003–2009. The analysis includes detailed description of land use forms, especially agricultural lands, forests and residential areas. The dominant form of land use are agricultural lands (especially arable lands) and forests but there are some zones in the district where residential areas are the dominant, especially close to city limits.

Opis:
Ensuring the high accessibility of railway stops and stations is essential to effective transport systems in urban areas. There are different ways to analyze accessibility at the station level. In this paper, it has been assumed that railway stops and stations should be located in places with significant demand for passenger rail transport characterized by a highly dense and diversity-rich land use structure. Therefore, the presented classification uses data on the built environment in the surroundings of these elements of the railway infrastructure, with particular attention to the type of each building. The analysis was performed for the Metropolis GZM area. Based on the gathered spatial data, railway stops and stations in the aspect of the density and diversity of the built environment in their vicinity were classified. This classification can be applied to the assessment of accessibility.

Opis:
This study assessed the effectiveness of suburban planning in the field of sustainable land-use management. Poznań County was selected as the research area. The scope of the research concerns the changes in land-use purpose and their impact on the landscape and ecological values. The methods used included quantitative research, analysis, and a case study. The conclusions indicated systemic errors in the development of suburban areas, including discrepancies between the development strategies of larger areas (e.g., metropolitan areas) and local studies of spatial development directions. The proposed solutions included the legal empowerment of larger development strategies and promoting the valuation of ecosystem services as a balance for economic analyses.
Celem artykułu jest ocena skuteczności planowania w zakresie zrównoważonej gospodarki gruntami. Obszarem badań jest powiat poznański. Zakres merytoryczny dotyczy zmian struktury użytkowania gruntów i ich wpływu na walory przyrodniczo-krajobrazowe. Zastosowane metody obejmują badania ilościowe, analizę oraz studia przypadku. Wyciągnięte wnioski wskazują na systemowe błędy w zakresie zagospodarowania terenów podmiejskich, w tym na rozbieżności między strategiami rozwoju większych obszarów (np. metropolitalnych) a gminnymi studiami kierunków rozwoju przestrzennego. Propozycje rozwiązań obejmują umocowanie prawne strategii rozwoju o większym zasięgu oraz wdrożenie w planowaniu przestrzennym wycen usług ekosystemowych w równowadze do analiz ekonomicznych.

The aim of this study is to analyze the structures of land use in organic farming in the EU countries, for which EUROSTAT made the statistics available. The survey concerns the period between 2004 and 2012. The method of data clustering has been used there in order to classify the structure of land use. The taxonomic analysis allowed for differentiating 5 subgroups from the database. They have cross-sectional and time-series character as well as similar cropping patterns. The agricultural sector reacted to the increasing demand for organic products in two ways: by the extension of the crops’ acreage or by the change in the structures of land use (in order to match the product offer with the demand). However, the conducted surveys did not reveal the essential changes in the structures of land use. In consequence, a significant level of stabilization of supply’s structure was noted.
Celem opracowania jest analiza struktury użytkowania gruntów wykorzystywanych przez rolnictwo ekologiczne w krajach należących do UE, dla których EUROSTAT udostępnił odpowiednie dane statystyczne. Badanie objęło lata 2004-2012. Do klasyfikacji struktury użytkowania gruntów zastosowano metodę analizy skupień. Analiza taksonomiczna umożliwiła wydzielenie ze zbioru danych 5 podgrup o charakterze przekrojowo-czasowym, które cechują się podobnymi strukturami upraw. Odpowiedzią sektora rolnego na wzrastający popyt na produkty ekologiczne jest zwiększanie areału upraw bądź zmiana struktury użytkowania ziemi (celem dopasowania oferty produktowej do popytu). Jednak, przeprowadzone badania nie wykazały zasadniczych zmian struktury wykorzystania gruntów w czasie, czego następstwem jest znaczny stopień stabilizacji struktury podaży.

The article presents the results of the analysis of water needs in agricultural production of the Grybów commune (the district of Nowy Sącz, the Małopolska province). The aim of this study was to determine both the current water needs for agricultural purposes as well as changes in this regard based on structural and production data. The guidelines specified in the Ordinance of the Minister of Infrastructure of 14 January 2002 concerning average norms of water consumption were applied to determine water needs. The average annual water demand of crops together with permanent grassland (meadows, pastures) amounts to 23.7 mln m3, of which about 2.15 mln m3 is for winter wheat, 1.92 mln m3 for potatoes and 17.6 mln m3 for permanent grassland. Significant amounts of water (over 130,000 m3) are used also for watering home gardens and cultivating vegetables in plastic tunnels and greenhouses. Water needs for animals farming reach about 235,000 m3 in a year. Most water is needed for farming the cattle. It is predicted that the demand for water in the agricultural sector of the commune will increase by about 5.5% by 2030. Therefore, the activities monitoring the awareness of water saving and proper water management among the population of the villages are important.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki analizy w zakresie potrzeb wodnych w produkcji rolniczej na przykładzie gminy Grybów (powiat nowosądecki, województwo małopolskie). Celem pracy było określenie aktualnych potrzeb wodnych rolnictwa, a także określenie na podstawie danych strukturalnych i produkcyjnych trendów zmian w tym zakresie. Do określenia potrzeb wodnych zastosowano wytyczne zawarte w Rozporządzeniu Ministra Infrastruktury z dnia 14 stycznia 2002 r. w sprawie określenia przeciętnych norm zużycia wody. Średnie roczne zapotrzebowanie na wodę roślin uprawnych wraz z trwałymi użytkami zielonymi (łąki, pastwiska) wynosi 23,7 mln m3, w tym pszenicy ozimej oraz ziemniaka około 2,15 i 1,92 mln m3, a trwałych użytków zielonych – 17,6 mln m3. Znaczne ilości wody (ponad 130 tys. m3) zużywane są także na podlewanie ogródków przydomowych oraz uprawę warzyw w tunelach foliowych i szklarniach. Potrzeby wodne w zakresie chowu i hodowli zwierząt gospodarskich sięgają w ciągu roku ok. 235 tys. m3. Najwięcej wody potrzebne jest na hodowlę i chów bydła. Prognozuje się, że do 2030 r. nastąpi wzrost zapotrzebowania na wodę w sektorze rolniczym gminy o około 5,5%. W tej sytuacji ważne wydają się działania monitorujące świadomość oszczędzania wody i właściwe nią gospodarowanie wśród ludności zamieszkującej wsie.

The key objective of the study is to analyse structural characteristics of the landscape from the viewpoint of the structure’s durability, characteristics and speed of change. The research focused on the area surrounding Płock. In the analysed period (1987-2010) slight changes were detected with regard to the land cover, though they were significant in terms of the natural environment. No single dominant process determining land cover change was identified. Fluctuations prevailed (producing a slightly different picture in each microregion), with a fixed pattern maintained. Distribution, shape and spatial location of land cover types are only partly determined by land lie and habitat quality. Fragmentation of the terrain is relatively high, which reflects intense land use, at the same time indicating opportunities to preserve the wildlife and vegetation typical for agrocenoses.

This paper presents the analysis of cartographic materials formed on the basis of the former Prussia cadastre, modern cadastral maps and digital orthophotomaps. The maps from the various periods of time allow for the land layout analysis and changes in land use from the first colonists settlement to the present. Studies have shown that during the last 70 years in the (analyzed) village in this study, more than half of the arable land was transformed to the grassland. In the analyzed period of time the number of plots increased by 112%, and their average size has been reduced by more than a half.
