Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags stehen geschichtsdidaktische Überlegungen zum aktuellen Stellenwert von Erinnerungskulturen als Gegenstand historisch-politischer Lernprozesse in der österreichischen Sekundarstufe. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine erste Analyse auf drei Ebenen durchgeführt. Zunächst wird die Relevanz des Themas Erinnerungskulturen im aktuellen Lehrplan für das Unterrichtsfach „Geschichte und Sozialkunde / Politische Bildung“ betrachtet. Ergänzend dazu wird ein exemplarischer Blick auf die Umsetzung dieser Vorgabe in einem aktuellen Schulbuch geworfen. Abschließend werden dazu erste empirische Ergebnisse zu den Vorstellungen von Schülerinnen und Schülern zum Umgang mit Erinnerungskulturen in Beziehung gesetzt.
Artykuł zajmuje się aktualnym stanem historyczno-politycznego kształcenia w zakresie kultury pamięci w austriackich szkołach ponadpodstawowych. Analiza została przeprowadzona po raz pierwszy na trzech poziomach. Na początku artykuł stawia pytanie oznaczenie tematu, jakim jest kultura pamięci w obecnym programie przedmiotu „Historia i nauka o społeczeństwie / wiedza o polityce”. Uzupełnieniem jest spojrzenie na realizację tego zagadnienia w wybranym aktualnym podręczniku. Na koniec rozważania na temat programu kształcenia są skonfrontowane z pierwszymi empirycznymi wynikami badań, w których uczniowie pytani są o ich doświadczenia z lekcji na temat kultury pamięci.
The contribution focuses on historical-didactic considerations on the current significance of memory cultures as an object of historical-political learning processes in Austrian secondary schools. For this purpose, an initial analysis is carried out on three levels. First, the relevance of the topic of memory cultures in the current curriculum for the teaching subject “History and Social Studies / Political Education” is considered. In addition, an exemplary look is taken into the implementation of this issue in a current textbook. Finally, initial empirical results are presented on students’ ideas about how to deal with memory cultures in relation to each other.

Artykuł podejmuje kwestie filmowej reprezentacji przymusowych wysiedleń Niemców ze wschodnich terenów Rzeszy po 1945 r. w kontekście kultur pamięci medialnej kinematografii niemieckich (alianckich stref okupacyjnych, Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej, Republiki Federalnej Niemiec i zjednoczonych Niemiec). Autor wskazuje na podległość strategii artystycznych przywołanych filmów wobec aktualnych dyskursów pamięci i lansowanych modeli państwowotwórczych. Identyfikuje grupę filmów tużpowojennych, zabezpieczających ślady pamięci migracyjnej, wskazuje na mechanizmy pamięci przesiedleń w kinie NRD (zadekretowany antyfaszyzm) oraz narratywy wypędzeń w kinie Niemiec Zachodnich (nostalgia za utraconą ojczyzną, kolumny wypędzonych w drodze), zwraca wreszcie uwagę na pracę pamięci leżącą u podstaw praktyk wspominania.
The article addresses the issues of film representation of forced displacement of Germans from the eastern territories of Reich after 1945 in the context of cultures of media remembrance in German cinemas (of Allied occupation zones, German Democratic Republic, Federal Republic of Germany, and reunited Germany). The author indicates subordination of artistic strategies in particular films to current discourses of remembrance and promoted state formation models. He identifies a group of films made just after the war, which secured traces of migration memory; he points to the mechanisms of memory of resettlements in the GDR cinema (decreed anti-fascism) and narratives of expulsion in West German cinema (nostalgia for the lost homeland, columns of exiles); eventually, he draws attention to the work of memory which underlies the practices of remembrance.

Das Kino hat neue Formen der Kollektivität geschaffen, nämlich einen identitätspolitischen und affektiven Anschluss der Zuschauenden an einen Staat, eine Nation und die Macht der Geschichte. Dieser Anschluss wird zunächst mit dem Neologismus Staatsgenre diskutiert, um die sozialpolitische Hierarchisierung der Genres und deren Produktions- und Rezeptionsbedingungen zu konzeptualisieren. In Anlehnung an feministische Theorien der Zuschauenden wird daraufhin versucht, eine Sehperspektive zu erfassen, die an der Gemeinschaftsbildung beteiligt wird. In diesem Zusammenhang wird zum einen der narratologische Ansatz von Teresa de Lauretis interessant, mit dem Identifikationsprozesse mit dem Bild beschrieben werden. Zum anderen wird die Allegorie als eine affektive Figur gedacht, mit der die Zuschauenden performativ eine exzentrische Position erlangen bzw. mit der Abstrahierung des Bildes zur Allegorie die Umwandlung mitvollziehen. Diesen Prozessen können sich die Zuschauenden nicht entziehen, weil es um deren affektive Überwältigung durch die Bilder geht, die u.a. durch die Auflösung der Gendersemantiken bedingt wird. Als Beispiel fungiert der oscarprämierte Blockbuster Saving Private Ryan (USA 1998).
Kino stworzyło nowe formy wspólnotowe: związek z państwem, narodem i historią opierający się na politycznej i emocjonalnej tożsamości widzów. Związek ten rozpatrywany jest w artykule za pomocą neologizmu „gatunek narodowy“. Umożliwia to usytuowanie gatunku filmowego w hierarchii społeczno-politycznej oraz w kontekście produkcji i recepcji dzieła filmowego. W oparciu o teorie feministyczne podjęta zostaje próba uchwycenia perspektywy widza w procesie tworzenia wspólnoty. Interesująca w tym kontekście okazała się propozycja interpretacji narratologicznej Teresy de Lauretis, opisującej proces budowania tożsamości pod wpływem mowy obrazów. Z drugiej strony jako figura afektywna rozumiana jest alegoria, dzięki której widzowie nabierają dystansu do oglądanej treści lub też modyfikują swą postawę, ponieważ traktują obraz jako alegorię. Widzowie ulegają temu procesowi, ponieważ chodzi w nim o afektywne poddanie się obrazom, co jest między innymi uwarunkowane rozpadem semantyki płci. Jako przykład służy nagrodzony Oskarem hit filmowy Szeregowiec Ryan (Saving Private Ryan, USA 1998).
Cinema has created new forms of collectivity, namely identity-political and affective connections between the viewers and the state, nation, and the power of history. The article discusses this connection using the “state genre” neologism. This enables the Author to place the film genre within the socio-political hierarchy and in the context of film production and reception. Based on feminist theories of spectatorship, an attempt is then made to capture a viewer’s perspective as part of community formation. In this context, Teresa de Laurentis’ narratological approach is of interest, as it describes the process of building identity through the image. As an affective figure, the allegory also seems relevant, as it enables the viewers to attain some perspective on the projected images – or to modify their opinions, as they perceive the images to form an allegory. The viewers allow for this process to happen, and to be overpowered by the images (this is conditioned, among others, by the dissolution of gender semantics). The Oscar-winning blockbuster Saving Private Ryan (USA 1998) is presented as an example.

From the cultural point of view, the space of a cemetery is an unfinished artefact; it undergoes constant transformations both as a  material and as a non-material construct. It functions as a palimpsest whose space is created and adjusted by the passage of time; it is time that imposes new meanings and identities upon it. To read a cemetery correctly, one needs to be familiar with the language in which it has been written and to subject it to several readings, since the first reading, i.e. that of a cemetery’s “clearly visible, evident and intentionally exposed” (as J. Kolbuszewski put it) objects and signs, does not allow the scholar to profoundly reconstruct its space. My example will be a village cemetery located in the Cracow-Częstochowa Jura region (in the village of Złoty Potok, Janów commune, Częstochowa county). 
Z kulturowego punktu widzenia przestrzeń cmentarza jest tworem niedokończonym, jako konstrukt materialny i niematerialny jest nieustannie „przeobrażany”. Funkcjonuje jako palimpsest – czas uzgadnia i kreuje jego przestrzeń, nadpisuje nowe znaczenia i tożsamości. Aby go odczytać prawidłowo należy znać język, jakim został napisany i poddać go kilku lekturom, gdyż pierwsza lektura „jawnie dostrzegalnych, widomych i celowo eksponowanych” (J. Kolbuszewski) obiektów i znaków cmentarza nie pozwala badaczowi dogłębnie re-konstruować jego przestrzeń. Za przykład posłuży mi wiejski cmentarz leżący na Jurze Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej (wieś Złoty Potok, gmina Janów, powiat częstochowski).

One of the main aims of uniting Europe is to create a common European culture of remembrance. To achieve this, different transnational projects are carried out, especially in historical sciences, but increasingly also in other disciplines such as pedagogy. This paper shows a new solution in teaching German as a foreign language at an academic level using the didactics of culture. The lesson unit discussed in this paper was developed within a bilateral project New models of didactics of culture. Polish-German realms of memory during a workshop which had been conducted by students of four universities (two Polish and two German), in order to design lessons curriculums. This article discusses how history and foreign language can be taught within an intercultural lesson unit which focuses on area studies.

Uses and Abuses of the Past. The Politics of History and Cultures of Remembrance in East-Central and Southeastern Europe (1791 to 1989) The ‘long’ 19th century and the wars of the ‘short’ 20th century decisively shaped the cultures of remembrance of the national societies and nation-states of East-Central and Southeastern Europe. The national liberation movements, the wars of 1912/14–1918, the founding of new states in 1918–19, the turn to authoritarian rule in the late 1920s and the war years of 1939/41–1944/45 continue to shape – together with the legacy of communism and medieval myths – the collective memory of contemporary Poles, Hungarians, Slovaks, Czechs, Romanians, Bulgarians, Albanians, Serbs, Macedonians, Croats and others. If Oskar Halecki and Jenő Szűcs have identified a historical meso-region of a ‘wider’ East-Central Europe characterized by common structural features, one can also identify a post-imperial and post-communist ‘community of memory’ between Plžen and Poltava, Tallinn and Thessaloniki. This shaping of the past in people’ s minds has taken place in a threefold manner. First, the individual memory of quite a number of people who had experienced World War II, the interwar period and even the ‘three’ Balkans Wars is still alive. These memories differ substantially depending on ethnicity, political affiliation back then, and on present-day political needs. Those hunted during the Second World War record rather different memories than those who participated in ethnic cleansing, for example. There have been floods of memoirs written about the recent past throughout the region. Second, in these until rather recently non-literate but ‘oral’ societies family memory continues to play an important role – a role that was strengthened considerably under the decades of communism when memories not compatible with the official master narrative were suppressed. And third – and perhaps most importantly – the post-1989/91 governments’ uses and abuses of the past are primarily an iteration of the ‘politics of history’ propagated by governments of the interwar period and earlier.

The issues raised in this article concern the commission of the necessary features of two kinds of offence, memorial site desecration and the theft of goods of special cultural signifcance, as applicable to the commission of these offences on or with respect to the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau former Nazi German concentration and death camp. Te article starts by considering the situations which eventually led to the discussed verdicts. However, special caution should be exercised in a determination of the necessary features of an offence which the legislator has defined in an abstract way, particularly if the offence was committed on the site of Auschwitz.
Problematyka poruszona w artykule dotyczy realizacji znamion dwóch typów czynów zabronionych, znieważenia miejsca pamięci oraz kradzieży dobra o szczególnym znaczeniu dla kultury, w stosunku do realizacji znamion tych czynów względem Niemieckiego Nazistowskiego Obozu Koncentracyjnego i Zagłady Auschwitz-Birkenau. Punktem wyjścia rozważań były stany faktyczne, w oparciu o które zapadły omówione w artykule orzeczenia. Trzeba jednak mieć na względzie, że przy ustalaniu realizacji znamion czynu zabronionego, który został przez ustawodawcę określony w sposób abstrakcyjny, okoliczność, że do realizacji znamion czynu doszło na obszarze obozu koncentracyjnego w Oświęcimiu, należy brać pod uwagę z dużym stopniem ostrożności.

Interpretacja pojęcia miejsca pamięci w hiszpańskim prawie ochrony dziedzictwa historycznego prowadzona jest niekonsekwentnie. Niniejszy artykuł dokonuje próby przedstawienia problemów, które pojawiają się przy kwalifikowaniu danych obszarów jako miejsc pamięci oraz omówienia ich istoty posługując się przykładem Wspólnoty Autonomicznej Madrytu. Wskazane błędy powinny przestrogą i zmuszać do refleksji.
Interpretation of the concept of a place of remembrance in Spanish law of historical heritage protection is carried out inconsistently. This article attempts to present problems that arise in the qualification of given areas as places of remembrance and to discuss their essence using the example of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The indicated errors should be a warning and forcing to reflection.
