Opis:: The BDq method, a tool of stocking control in uneven−aged stands, with a special reference to the problem of determining diameter structure of cuttings, is introduced. Both theoretical foundations, as well as a practical application of the BDq method are presented on the example of conversion of two−storied stands, consisting of silver fir and Scots pine, to stands characterized by a plenter−like structure.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest zasygnalizowanie problemu obszarów rolnych w miastach na przykładzie Krakowa. Problematyka ta jest bardzo aktualna ze względu na zmianę w przepisach prawnych dotyczących odrolnień gruntów w miastach. Autor w zarysie przedstawił aktualny stan rolnictwa miejskiego i dynamikę zmian powierzchni użytkowanych rolniczo w latach 1995-2008 na terenie Krakowa oraz potencjalną rolę obszarów rolnych w kształtowaniu miejskiego systemu przyrodniczego.
The goal of this paper is to mention the problem of agricultural areas in cities on the example of Kraków. The issue is highly topical due to the amendment of legal regulations concerning changing the status of farm lands (from agricultural to residential). The author has outlined the current condition of urban farming and the dynamics of changes in surfaces areas of arable land in Kraków in 1995-2008, as well as the potential role of agricultural areas in shaping the urban natural system.

Opis:: The paper deals with problems concerning silvicultural planning in silver fir stands in Zagnańsk Forest District (central Poland) that are characterized by complex structure. Based on a detailed inventory using 98 permanent circular sample plots in four control units the BDq method was employed for determining the future silvicultural activities of the current forest management cycle. The equilibrium model is based on diameter distributions and has the following parameters: B=35 m²/ha; D=63 cm and q−factor=1.28.

Opis:: The paper presents preliminary results and experiences concerning promoting diverse structures in forest stands dominated by light demanding tree species, i.e. those that prevail under conditions of Polish lowlands. Data was collected in the ‘Control Unit Browsk 28C', established in 2002 in the managed part of the Białowieża Forest (eastern Poland) and surveyed again in 2011.
