Opis:
The article centres on the notion of responsibility in Tom Stoppard’s Darkside (2013). While Pink Floyd’s original album, which inspired the playwright, thematises its connection to ethics in a spectral and hauntological manner, through the use of field recording sound snippets interwoven in the music, the radio play explores the notion of responsibility through what is called “thought experiments.” The article identifies the subversive function of these narrative examples and, following Emanuel Levinas’ suggestions concerning the instability of the link between the philosophical discourse and that of examples, shows the latter’s insolent and disruptive nature. The notion of responsibility is further linked to its discussion by Jacques Derrida in his Gift of Death (1995) which consequently makes it possible to view the relation between responsibility and responding from a subversive, hauntological and undecidable perspective.

Opis:
This article aims to be a confrontation with Nancy’s “deconstruction of Christianity”. For Nancy to deconstruct Christianity means to point to the places where Christianity itself overflows its status as religion and as metaphysics. Nancy shows how the three Christian mysteries (Trinity, Incarnation, Resurrection) are not merely explainable metaphysically and how they thus open the thought of the new relation between body-mind. These theses have been criticized by Jacques Derrida reading of Nancy’s work in Le Toucher. Jean-Luc Nancy. Derrida turns his attention to a certain strand of the tradition which he calls “haptological” (from the Greek haptein, to touch). This tradition is implicated in the metaphysical gesture insofar as it thinks touch in terms of identity, homogeneity, immediacy and self-presence, even when it emphasizes a certain interruption or distance. According to Derrida, this is Nancy’s complicity with some form of metaphysical thinking. The conclusion of this article aims to expose the multidimensional discussion between philosophers.

This article attempts to discuss the philosophical contexts and meaning of the new humanities in the context of the philosophy of subjectivity. At the foundation of the new humanities, as it is argued, is not enlightenment, but Heidegger’s thought, with his excoriating critique of modern subjectivity and its Machenschaft. The article points to the foundational hubris that the new humanities oppose, and to the attempt to reinstall the subject within fixed boundaries. The new humanities, and posthumanism in particular, might backlash with violence against civilisation, comparable to that they endeavour to renounce. In order to manoeuvre through these convoluted figures of subjectivity, the article supports its theses with insightful readings of Hölderlin and Adorno.

Opis:
Hilary Putnam once wrote that all these very abstract and seemingly idle philosophical arguments eventually lead to major discoveries in the felds of politics, science, etc. Following this remark, I would like to draw a connection between two debates. The first one is the famous exchange between Jacques Derrida and John Searle - perhaps the most important confrontation between continental and analytic school of philosophy. The second one, far less known, took place at the beginning of our century on the www-tag mailing list. Here Tim Berners-Lee, creator of World Wide Web, and Pat Hayes, one of the leading figures in the field of Artificial Intelligence, were discussing the future of Semantic Web - a very ambitious project from the borderland of AI and network science. My goal is not only to highlight some apparent similarities among arguments used in these two debates. Rather, I would like to show that these arguments are embedded in larger discourses, which, consequently, shape the future of our technological environment.

Opis:
Deconstruction is present in the field of Chemistry from Analitic to Synthetic. Naturally arises as a method and as a foundation. Deconstruction affects the Chemistry, particularly Organic, as an experimental science. Traditionally, the principles of chemistry starting with the study of elementary particles, atoms, molecules, substances and other aggregates of matter. This is anything that occupies space and possesses rest mass (or invariant mass). It is a general term for the substance of which all physical objects consist. Typically, the material includes atoms and other particles having a mass. The mass is said by some to be the amount of matter in an object and volume is the amount of space occupied by an object, but this definition confuses mass with matter, which are not the same thing. Different fields use the term in different ways and sometimes incompatible, there is a unique meaning that scientific consensus is for the word “matter”, although the term “mass” be well defined. The article can be found mainly in solid, liquid and gas, in isolation or in combination. Chemical reactions and other transformations such as phase changes involving the rearrangement of chemical bonds and other interactions between the molecules. These changes invariably involve several important concepts such as energy, chemical equilibrium among others. The desconstruction affects all Chemistry from method to foundations.

Opis:
Energy and mass are generally interpreted as different properties of matter, for instance: the energy of a particle is generally interpreted as a measure of its capacity to do work. The law of the equivalence of mass and energy does not imply that mass is sometimes converted into energy or vice versa, but states that the changes in one are accompanied by corresponding changes in the other, inertial mass and energy being proportional to each other: E = m . c2. The law of conservation of mass is, therefore, equivalent to the law of conservation of energy and they are sometimes combined together and called the law of conservation of mass- energy. The proportionality between the relativistic mass and energy leads to the fact that the statement on the conservation of the total relativistic mass of particles is the statement on the conservation of the total energy using the relation between the relativistic mass and energy. Accordingly we can analyse the philosophical reasons of the relativistic dynamic. But this examination implicates a review on the causality principle, because we aspire to the new philosophical contained for the relativistic arguments. Meanwhile, the Relativistic Dynamics is also affected by the deconstruction.

The goal of the article is to propose a different approach to – and therefore a new concept of – the history of thinking. Reflecting on the history of philosophy, it suggests a broader understanding of the latter. Yet traditional studies in the history of philosophy are not to be rejected; they need to be reformed, and such a reform could be performed basing on the experiences of the discipline of historiography. Thus conceived, the history of thinking could open us to a different future.

Zestawienie tych dwóch – skądinąd obu uznawanych za poststrukturalistów – filozofów służy uwydatnieniu kluczowej roli, jaką problem historyczności pełni w dziele Jacques’a Derridy. Tekst stanowi tym samym zachętę do rewizji statusu Derridy w polskiej humanistyce.
This article presents Jacques Derrida as a philosopher of history. The concepts he developed during his long intellectual career turn out to be linked to a specific vision of history. This vision manifests itself from Derrida’s very first texts and is not one of the minor themes of his thought but its fundamental element. The article focuses on a selected essay by Derrida that led to his argument with Michel Foucault. The comparison of these two - both poststructuralist - philosophers serves to highlight the key role of the problem of historicity in Jacques Derrida’s work. The article thus encourages a revision of Derrida’s status in Polish philosophy, and more broadly in humanities.

Opis:
After the publication of Jaques Derrida’s book, L’animal que donc je suis, anti-speciesism has been looking for a theoretical foundation for its ethical content. In my opinion, the defect of all these philosophical perspectives is that they still reduce animals to objects of human philosophy. Here, I develop a new framework in which animals are considered as subjects of their own philosophy. In analogy to the concept of ethnophilosophy, the concept of speciophilosophy is here introduced (§ 1, §3). The different ways of thinking between humans and other animals are outlined, by explaining the difference between verbal reasoning and thinking through images (§ 2). Human philosophies are shown to be anthropocentric ideologies, related to carnivorism (§4, § 8). Subsequently, animal speciophilosophies are discussed (§6) and a dialogical symphilosophein (§ 5) among all living beings is proposed to be the extension of the so-called philosophy of dialogue. Finally, it is shown how this perspective was present in the original Christian ethics (§7, §9, § 10).

In this paper I reply to the four critical articles that were provided in response to my book Deconstruction (MIT Press 2021). It proceeds in four steps: (1) I begin with a reply to Stanisław Chankowski’s use of the psychoanalytic term “fetishistic denial” to describe the formal character of the text. (2) I then engage with the criticism supplied by Piotr Kozak, who questions deconstruction’s theory of truth (or its lack thereof). (3) From this, I take-up and respond to Przemysław Nowakowski’s proposal that deconstruction might provide a way to reimagine the interdisciplinarity of cognitive science. And (4) I conclude with a response to Michał Piekarski’s mashup of Ludwig Wittgenstein and Jacques Derrida, which supplies a reading of these two thinkers that is arguably greater than the sum of the parts. The objective of the reply is not to offer a defense of myself or my text but to engage with these interesting and insightful reviews in a way that opens the space for productive dialogue.
