Opis:
The IOCG Sin Quyen deposit is located in the Red River shear zone of North Vietnam. The ore bodies are known as hydrothermal veins and are hosted in Proterozoic metapelite. A block modelling approach was used to build a 3D model of the ore bodies. An analysis was carried out on Surfer 11 computer software using the archival data recorded from several dozen boreholes distributed within the study area, as well as data obtained from the mineral and chemical analysis of 50 samples collected recently in the deposit. The ore bodies generally trend in a NW-SE direction with an average azimuth of 107° and dip of around 70°.The Cu content in the ore bodies is inhomogeneous. In the bed extension direction, the exponential correlation of Cu concentration in ore bodies is recognized within 2,500 m, while in the direction perpendicular to the bed strike, the exponential dependence is observed on 500 m of distance. The high-grade mineralisation of copper within the ore bodies is often at the altitude interval from ∼100 m to ∼150 m above sea level (asl). These bodies are also rich in uranium and gold bearing minerals. The total resources of Cu, U and Ag were estimated and amount to 361,000; 12.7 and 11.87 tonnes respectively. The model indicates the downward extension of some ore bodies to below 300 m beneath the ground surface.

Adsorption of copper, cadmium and zinc on manganese and iron oxide coated zeolite from aqueous solution was investigated in a batch mode. Experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of the initial concentration of metals, initial pH, contact time and temperature on the adsorption of ions. According to the results, adsorption of ions on manganese and iron oxide coated zeolite increased with the enhancement of initial Cu2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ concentrations and contact time and also with increase of temperature. The results showed that at the beginning, the adsorption rate of Cu2+ and Cd2+ was more than 90 %. This rate continued to be slower for Zn2+ in both zeolites. Furthermore, the amount of Cu2+, Zn2+, and Cd2+ adsorption on the manganese oxide coated zeolite (qe) was equal to 14 mg/g, 9 mg/g and 16 mg/g and on the iron oxide coated zeolite it was 11 mg/g, 7 mg/g and 13mg/g, respectively. It was shown that at the concentrations below 100 mg/dm3 adsorption was rapid and almost all heavy metals were adsorbed. As a result, the significant factor affecting qe is the proportion of weight to liquid and pH in the solutions. Finally, the results showed that the adsorption of Zn2+, Cu2+ and Cd2+ onto the manganese oxide coated zeolite followed both the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models.

Opis:
Though Algeria has many mineral resources which have been already developed, there are other resources that have to be valued such as feldspar. This paper deals with potassium feldspar from Ain Barbar deposit. The demand for feldspar as a raw material for the ceramic industry is continuously increasing, which implies an increase in the imports of this material. It became therefore imperative to develop the deposit in question. The ore contains essentially quartz, potassium oxide and iron with respective grades: 74.97% SiO2, 10.43% K2O and 0.60% Fe2O3. This latter is one of the principal impurities which will impart color and in turn degrade the quality of the ore. The objective of this work is to reduce the iron found in oxide form. For this purpose, we used High Gradient Magnetic Separation (HGMS), firstly by the dry process. This operation has allowed to reduce the iron content, from 0.60 to 0.40% Fe2O3, which is acceptable only for stoneware tiles paste of type “porcellenato”. To further reduce this iron oxide content, a wet HGMS has been realized on a finer grain size (-40+20μm) and allowed to obtain a product with 0.19% Fe2O3, which can be used in the sanitary ceramics industry.
Ruda ta zawiera zasadniczo kwarc, tlenek potasu i żelaza w następującym stopniu: 74,97% SiO2, 10,43% K2O i 0,60% Fe2O3.

Opis:
In recent years, much research has focused on energy recovery from biomass as an alternative to fossil fuel usage. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs), which produce electricity via microbial decomposition of organic matter, are of great interest. The performance of an MFC depends on the electrode material; most often, carbon materials with good electrical conductivity and durability are used. To increase the power output of an MFC, the anode material can be modified to reduce the internal resistance and increase the anode surface area. Therefore, this study determined how modifying a carbon felt anode with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and a combination of rGO with iron (III) oxide (rGO-Fe) affected electricity generation in an MFC fueled with wastewater. A mixed microbial consortium was used as the anode biocatalyst. The MFC-rGO-Fe produced significantly higher voltages than other cells (average 109.4 ± 75.1 mV in the cycle). Power density curves indicated that modifying the anode with rGO-Fe increased the power of the MFC to 4.5 mW/m2, 9.3- and 3.9-times higher than that of the control MFC and the MFC-rGO, respectively. Anode modification reduced the internal resistance of the cells from 1029 Ω in the control MFC to 370 and 290 Ω in the MFC-rGO and MFC-rGO-Fe, respectively. These results show that a mixture of rGO with iron (III) oxide positively affects electricity production and can be successfully used for anode modification in the MFCs fueled with wastewater.

The present study investigates the synthesis and characterization of iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3 O4 -NPs) for their antibacterial potential against Bacillus cereus and Klebsiella pneumonia by modified disc diffusion and broth agar dilution methods. DLS and XRD results revealed the average size of synthesized Fe3 O4 -NPs as 24 nm while XPS measurement exhibited the spin-orbit peak of Fe 2p3/2 binding energy at 511 eV. Fe3 O4 -NPs inhibited the growth of K. pneumoniae and B. cereus in both liquid and soild agar media, and displayed 26 mm and 22 mm zone of inhibitions, respectively. MIC of Fe3 O4 -NPs was found to be 5 μg/mL against these strains. However, MBC for these strains was observed at 40 μg/mL concentration of Fe3 O4 -NPs for exhibiting 40–50% loss in viable bacterial cells and 80 μg/mL concentration of Fe3 O4 -NPs acted as bactericidal for causing 90–99% loss in viability. Hence, these nanoparticles can be explored for their additional antimicrobial and biomedical applications.

Opis:
As a result of the rapid development of nanotechnology and increasing application of nanoproducts in many areas of everyday life, there is a growing risk of production of nanowastes potentially dangerous for the environment. This makes it necessary to investigate the accumulation and toxicity of nanoparticles (NPs) at different trophic levels. In the studies neutron activation was applied for the investigation of iron (II,III) oxide nanoparticle (Fe3O4-NPs) accumulation by Lepidium sativum and Pisum sativum L. Plants were cultivated on growth medium contaminated with different concentrations (0.01-10 mmolźL-1) of Fe3O4-NPs. For the identification of the presence of Fe3O4-NPs in plant tissues gamma spectrometry following iron oxide (II,III) nanoparticles irradiation was applied. Both plant species were found to accumulate iron (II,III) oxide nanoparticles. The highest content of NPs was found in plant roots, reaching 40 g/kg for Pisum sativum L. More than 90% of accumulated NPs were found in roots. Accumulation of Fe3O4-NPs was found to depend on the concentration of nanostructures in the growth medium. The transfer factor for Lepidium sativum roots and shoots and Pisum sativum L. shoots decreased with increasing NP concentration in the medium; for Pisum sativum L. roots the tendency was reversed. Neutron activation of nanoparticles was shown to be a powerful tool for tracing the environmental fate of NPs and their uptake and accumulation in organisms.

Opis:
Most iron reserves are low in grade with quartz as the main gangue mineral, and anionic reverse flotation has become the most crucial separation method in the processing plants of iron ore. Thus, a flotation feed sample that is a mixture of low-intensity and high-gradient magnetic separators concentrates was acquired from a processing plant. The sample characterizations with X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), laser particle size analyzer, and mineral liberation analysis (MLA) confirmed that the sample consists of iron oxide as a valuable mineral and quartz as a gangue mineral with adequate liberation degree. In the anionic reverse flotation, the interaction of the flotation reagents with the constituents of the feed makes the flotation a complex system. Thus, the selection and optimization of regent dosages were performed using a uniform experimental design to estimate the optimum separation efficiency. The optimum reagent system was 1.6 kg/Mg starch depressant, 1.0 kg/Mg calcium oxide (lime) activator, and 0.8 kg/Mg TD-II anionic collector. At the optimum, 68.90% iron grade with 92.62% recovery was produced.

Opis:
It is inevitable for the occurrences of pulp pH buffering during pH control in flotation as the minerals with acidic/alkali properties tend to interact with pH modifiers and restore the pulp pH. This could result in some disturbing ions and alter the water/pulp chemistry. The purpose of this study was to identify the influences of pulp pH buffering on process water chemistry through a series of pH buffering tests, bench flotation experiments, ore dissolution tests, zeta potential measurement, and Xray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The built-up and distribution of the dominant cations in the process water from different locations in an industrial flotation system of the iron ore were analyzed and recorded by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission (ICP-OES) at a period of about six months when the operations were stable. The data showed that a near five-minute buffer of pulp pH at a range from near 7.9 to 8.9 occurred before it reached a stable value. At this period, the dissolution of Ca/Mg from the iron ore was dominant. And, the pulp pH at a lower value tended to induce more dissolved $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ ions. These divalent cations seem to have different influences on the flotation properties of iron oxides at the same concentrations, indicating a positive effect on the recovery of iron oxides with the presence of $Mg^{2+}$ ions but an opposite effect if $Ca^{2+}$ ions occurred. The presence of sulfate, however, tended to restore the floatability of silicate depressed by $Ca^{2+}$ ions.

Contribution of clay mineral phase (<2 um) and organic matter to the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of two clayey soils (gleyic black earths from Gniew) was investigated. The XRD analysis showed dominance of illite and mixed laver illite/smectite as well as the presence of smectite, chlorite and trace of kaolinite in the clay fraction of studied soils. CEC of the soils ranged between 22.08-32.64 cmol(+)/kg. After removal of organic matter with 30% H2O2, CEC the above values decreased significantly. However, the CEC of organic and inorganic components is not an additive. This may be explained by the formation of organo-mineral complexes, which might lower the CEC of the soil as a whole.

Opis:
Oxygen in metals is most often present in the form of oxides, including: FeO, Fe2O3, Fe3O4. The complexity of the welding process means that oxygen compounds can enter both the liquid metal and the atmosphere, causing negative effects. A welder is exposed to harmful emission of oxides entering the human body through the respiratory system or pores in the skin. The essence of the problem is so serious that standards for air purity and determination of amount of oxides at workplaces have been introduced. The article presents the results of research on the influence of the welding current intensity on the emission of air pollutants (in particular the emission of iron oxides) of the inhalable and respirable fractions. The bench tests were carried out on the basis of the applicable standards for air quality at welding stations. Based on the test results, on the basis of the R program, mathematical models of the emission of iron oxides generated during the welding process were developed. It was observed that with the increase of the welding current, the average value of the emission of iron oxides - both the inhalable and respirable fractions - increases. For both fractions, it was also noted that the model values are closer to the values measured in the model No. 1.
Tlen w metalach występuje najczęściej w postaci tlenków, m. in.: FeO, Fe2O3,Fe3O4.

Opis:
The most common inorganic pigment is red iron oxide. World production of iron oxide pigments is about 600 thousand tons per year and greatly exceeds the production of other color pigments, with the highest demand is for red iron oxide pigments, slightly below demand for the yellow iron oxide pigments. Production of red iron pigment from iron ores is promising and will meet the demand for high quality and inexpensive pigment. The raw material for the production of a pigment is a paint grade ore. The main task of obtaining the pigment is removed from raw materials coarse mafic minerals. Designed wasteless flowsheet for separation of iron ore in two qualities – paint grade quality (pigment) and metallurgical grade. The technology includes accumulation paint grade ore, crushing, screening, then fine grinding in a ball mill, magnetic separation and multi-stage classification in hydrocyclones. After this, the cyclone overflow is thickened, filtered on a press filter, dried and sent to storage bin for subsequent shipment to the customer. The resulting pigment is suitable for use in the paint industry.
Otrzymany pigment spewnia wymogi do stosowania w przemyśle lakierniczym.

In this work, we developed the lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite and it’s composite with yttrium iron cobaltite (mass ratio of 1:1) cathodes as a thin layer on Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 electrolyte. Two kinds of electrode pastes were prepared, with and without 6 mm polystyrene beads as an additional pore former. The performance of cathode materials was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as a function of electrode morphology, oxygen partial pressure, potential, and temperature. The polarization resistance of the more porous electrodes was lower than those electrodes prepared without additional pore former in the whole potential range at 800°C, slightly lower at 700°C and 600°C. The addition of yttrium iron cobaltite decreased the performance of both types of cathodes. The lower polarization resistance of porous cathodes is due to the facilitated gas diffusion through their structure.

In this study, the adsorption of Ni2+  and Fe3+  metal ions from aqueous solutions onto graphene oxide (GO) have been explored. The effects of various experimental factors such as pH of the solution, initial metal ion concentration and temperature were evaluated. The kinetic, equilibrium and thermodynamic studies were also investigated. The adsorption rate data were analyzed using the pseudo-first-order kinetic model, the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the intraparticle diffusion model. Kinetic studies indicate that the adsorption of both ions follows the pseudo-second-order kinetics. The isotherms of adsorption data were analyzed by adsorption isotherm models such as Langmuir and Freundlich. Equilibrium data fitted well with the Langmuir model. The maximum adsorption capacities of Ni2+  and Fe3+  onto GO were 35.6 and 27.3 mg g-1 , respectively. In addition, various thermodynamic parameters, such as enthalpy (ΔHO), entropy (ΔSO) and Gibbs free energy (ΔGO), were calculated.

Opis:
Synthesized dihydroxylammonium 5,5’-bistetrazole-1,1’-diolate (TKX-50) owes its outstanding application prospects in the field of insensitive solid propellants not only to its high energetic performance but also to its low mechanical sensitivity. Based on the excellent catalytic activity of bimetallic iron oxides for the thermal decomposition of TKX-50, the catalytic mechanism of bimetallic iron oxides (NiFe2O4, ZnFe2O4 and CoFe2O4) for TKX-50 pyrolysis has been explored. For this study, the decomposition process of TKX-50, before and after mixing with the bimetallic iron oxides NiFe2O4, ZnFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 was monitored by in-situ FTIR and gas-phase MS-FTIR instruments. Of the different catalysts, ZnFe2O4 gave the best result for reducing the initial decomposition temperature of TKX-50. Additionally, the activation energy of functional group cleavage of TKX-50, before and after mixing with ZnFe2O4, was also calculated for mechanism analysis from the results of the in-situ FTIR measurements. The results showed that the condensate and the gas-phase decomposition products of TKX-50 remained unchanged after mixing with different catalysts, while the activation energy of tetrazole ring cleavage was significantly reduced. The results of this study will be helpful for the rational design of insensitive solid propellant formulations containing TKX-50, and for understanding the pyrolysis mechanisms of TKX-50 before and after mixing with the efficient catalyst ZnFe2O4.
