    Opis:
    The paper focuses on the conditions and forms of the influx of the foreign capital to the Polish bank sector. The stages of the introduction of foreign investors to Polish banks have been analysed, their participation in the funds of their own banks and assets, together with the commitment to the deposit-credit activity. Eventually, an attempt has been made to briefly characterise the impact of the foreign capital on Polish banks. Our analysis indicates a considerable contribution of the foreign capital to the Polish bank sector and its positive impact on the development of competition, including its controversial role in crediting Polish enterprises, especially small and medium.

    Od kilkunastu lat inwestorzy zagraniczni wchodzą na polski rynek dokonując przejęć polskich przedsiębiorstw. Wśród przejętych przedsiębiorstw są także firmy przemysłu spożywczego. Przejęcia przez inwestorów zagranicznych mają różnorodny wpływ na przejęte przedsiębiorstwa. Wyniki analizy wskazują, że w większości przypadków przejęcia przyczyniają się do pogorszenia rentowności przejętych przedsiębiorstw.
    Por many years foreign direct investors have participated in the process of privatization of the Polish companies, including agri-food sector. Assessment of the impact of that process varies. The analysis results shows that the performance of companies in question is worse than before taken over as far as the profitability is concerned.

    Opis:
    This article presents the recent years rapid increase of global demand for rich resources and cheap land available particularly in Africa which became attractive and popular among investors. Ethiopia and some governments in Africa have actively engaged in the process of controversial arable land transactions with foreign investors at the expense of their own farmers. This article focuses on the main issues of transfer of land to foreigners in Ethiopia compared with similar events in Africa and other parts of the world. Analysis of this problem requires to put forward important questions to look for the answers. Is the transfer of land to investors which is often done by removing the traditional users and farmers from their land contributed to the development? I there any economic justification regarding the transaction of long-term lease or sale of land to foreigners? The largest share of long term investment regarding land lease takes place in five administrative regions in Ethiopia – Afar and Amhara in the north, in central Ethiopia Oromia and Gambela and Nations, Nationalities and Southern regions of Nations (SNNPR). According to the investigation generally the balance between small-scale and large-scale agriculture leaves a big question mark over the future livelihoods of small farmers in Ethiopia as well as other parts the world. Displacing the local farmers and focusing on the agricultural products intended exclusively for export without distribution in the local market are also pointed out as the serious social injustice. In Ethiopia like in some countries in Africa, the problem of land also caused a strong reaction in the society and it is inevitable that this problem will be one of the international issues to be solved soon.

    The article’s primary goal is to investigate foreign investors’ activity on the Polish primary debt instruments market in light of the public debt management strategy. We wanted to check the scale of investors’ response to the authorities’ policy in the sovereign debt area. The article consists of five parts. We started with the introduction, followed by a literature review. We then described the research method and data, as well as the empirical discussion.We based our study mostly on the average time to maturity (ATM) and average time to refixing (ATR) indexes. The most important findings, concluding remarks, and policy implications are presented in the last part of the paper. The study’s general outcomes show that despite the deterioration of the State Treasury debt instruments’ overall characteristics targeted to foreign investors, Polish sovereign debt papers remained attractive to buy. It was mostly due to the still relatively low refinancing and interest rate risks for debt denominated in foreign currencies.
    Głównym celem artykułu jest ocena aktywności inwestorów zagranicznych na polskim, pierwotnym rynku instrumentów dłużnych w świetle strategii zarządzania długiem publicznym. Sprawdzono skalę reakcji inwestorów na politykę władz w obszarze długu państwowego. Artykuł składa się z pięciu części: wprowadzenia, przeglądu literatury, opisu metody badawczej i danych, oraz dyskusji wyników. Najważniejsze ustalenia, uwagi końcowe i implikacje polityczne zostały przedstawione w ostatniej części opracowania. Wyniki badania wskazały, że pomimo pogorszenia się ogólnej charakterystyki instrumentów dłużnych Skarbu Państwa skierowanych do inwestorów zagranicznych, pozostały one atrakcyjne dla nierezydentów. Wynikało to głównie z wciąż stosunkowo niskiego ryzyka refinansowania i stopy procentowej dla długu denominowanego w walutach obcych.

    Opis:
    Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę identyfikacji zmian kierunków inwestycji dokonywanych na Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie oraz powiązania ich z kształtowaniem się indeksu WIG.
    This article attempts to identify the diversion of the investments made on the Stock Exchange in Warsaw and relates them to the development of the WIG index. Subjective and objective changes of an entity were determined and referred to in the article as investors’ activity. The connection between investors’ activity and the WIG index was measured with the method of least squares and regression analysis. The additional aim of the article is to present the possibilities given by the statistical methods related to the reduction of too many variables and the assessment of their actual connections.

    Opis:
    The article aims to present the main changes of China’s foreign investment law with a focus on the Foreign Investment Law and its implementing, effective from January 1, 2020. They are overarching and concerning investors present on the Chinese market and those planning to expand into the market through foreign direct investments. The following research hypothesis was verified: The Chinese Foreign Investment Law and its implementing entail many beneficial changes from the foreign investors’ perspective. An in-depth analysis of legal texts is the main research method employed to verify the research hypothesis. Key findings: The FIL, its implementation and the further shortening of the prohibitions and restrictions on foreign investors included in the negative lists are important steps towards liberalisation in foreign investors’ access to the Chinese market, offering them opportunities to invest capital. They create a conducive institutional and legal environment for foreign investors compared to the previous legislation. However, further action is needed to address regulatory flaws, increase regulatory transparency, and accelerate the pace of change.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie głównych zmian w chińskim prawie dotyczącym inwestycji zagranicznych, z koncentracją na ustawie o inwestycjach zagranicznych i jej rozporządzeniu wykonawczym, które obowiązują od 1 stycznia 2020 r. Są to obecnie nadrzędne regulacje obowiązujące inwestorów już obecnych na rynku chińskim, a także planujących ekspansję na ten rynek w formie bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych. Przyjęto następującą hipotezę badawczą: Chińska ustawa o inwestycjach zagranicznych i jej rozporządzenie wykonawcze wprowadzają wiele korzystnych zmian z punktu widzenia inwestorów zagranicznych. Pogłębiona analiza tekstów prawnych i ich interpretacji to główna metoda badawcza przyjęta do weryfikacji słuszności hipotezy badawczej. Główne wnioski: FIL i jej rozporządzenie wykonawcze wraz z dalszym skracaniem zakazów i ograniczeń dla inwestorów zagranicznych ujętych w listach negatywnych są ważnymi krokami w kierunku dalszej liberalizacji w dostępie inwestorów zagranicznych do rynku chińskiego, oferując im szersze możliwości lokowania kapitału. W porównaniu do wcześniej obowiązujących przepisów, tworzą bardziej sprzyjające otoczenie instytucjonalno-prawne dla inwestorów zagranicznych. Potrzebne są jednak dalsze działania służące wyeliminowaniu wad regulacyjnych, zwiększające przejrzystość regulacyjną, a także szybsze tempo wprowadzania zmian.
