Opis:
The purpose of this paper was to determine how much the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic affected economic factors globally in the intercultural environment. The subject of the research refers to the analysis of the impact of the crisis on economic factors (foreign trade, GDP, GNP) of selected countries (Italy, Germany, Russia, China, and Croatia). In addition, special attention was given to the intercultural characteristics of the observed countries (intercultural communication, intercultural competence, intercultural sensitivity and intercultural conflicts). The content analysis as a qualitative method examined publicly available official documents related to the factors and characteristics observed. The contribution of the paper refers to the analysis of the situation of the observed countries by connecting the key elements needed for further action.
Celem artykułu jest określenie, w jakim stopniu kryzys wywołany pandemią COVID-19 wpłynął na czynniki ekonomiczne w skali globalnej w środowisku międzykulturowym. Przedmiotem badań jest analiza wpływu kryzysu na czynniki gospodarcze (handel zagraniczny, PKB, PNB) wybranych losowo krajów (Włochy, Niemcy, Rosja, Chiny, Chorwacja). Ponadto szczególną uwagę zwrócono na cechy międzykulturowe obserwowanych krajów (komunikacja międzykulturowa, kompetencje międzykulturowe, wrażliwość międzykulturowa i konflikty międzykulturowe). Analiza treści jako metoda jakościowa obejmowała analizę publicznie dostępnych dokumentów urzędowych pod kątem zaobserwowanych czynników i cech. Wkład artykułu dotyczy analizy sytuacji obserwowanych krajów poprzez powiązanie kluczowych elementów potrzebnych do dalszych działań.

The Polish school is constantly changing, which is associated with rapid economic and political changes. We observe very intense population movements taking the form of mass migrations. For these reasons, in the paper, we present the essence of the borderland and its typology, the formation of the intercultural identity of a person from the borderland. It is on the border of cultures that children going to school exchange information, learn about other customs, values, learn respect and tolerance. It depends to a large extent on the teacher/educator, who should build a good atmosphere of cooperation between the educational team of the multicultural borderland. The subject of interpretive research was the ways of defining the work of teachers in grades I–III of the multicultural borderland, indicating the tasks carried out at that time, the meanings given to them by teachers of grades I–III in the Lubuskie Province using non-standardised interviews. The research showed a positive picture of the situation. The respondents’ statements indicated a great need to introduce intercultural education to the school reality.
Polska szkoła ulega ciągłym zmianom, co związane jest z gwałtownymi przemianami gospodarczo-ustrojowymi. Obserwujemy bardzo intensywny ruchy ludności przybierający formy masowych migracji. Z tych względów w tekście przedstawiamy istotę pogranicza i jego typologię, kształtowanie się tożsamości międzykulturowej człowieka z pogranicza. To właśnie na pograniczu kultur dzieci chodząc do szkoły, w toku przyjaznej atmosfery i dialogu, wymieniają się informacjami, poznają inne zwyczaje, wartości, uczą się szacunku i tolerancji. Niniejsze w dużym stopniu zależy to od nauczyciela/wychowawcy, który powinien budować dobrą atmosferę współpracy zespołu wychowawczego pogranicza wielokulturowego, dbając o dobrostan uczniów. Przedmiotem badań o charakterze jakościowym uczyniono sposoby definiowania pracy nauczycielek w klasach I–III pogranicza wielokulturowego, wskazywania zadań realizowanych w tym czasie, znaczenia im nadawane przez nauczycielki klas I–III województwa lubuskiego z wykorzystaniem niestandaryzowanych wywiadów. Przeprowadzone badania ukazały pozytywny obraz sytuacji, pozytywny dobrostan uczniów. Wypowiedzi badanych jednoznacznie wykazały dużą potrzebę wprowadzenia edukacji międzykulturowej do rzeczywistości szkolnej.

Both the occasion of Barbara Frischmuth's seventy-fifth birthday and that of her reading in Poland have inspired an examination of the cofounder of the Grazer group's presence and reception in the Germanspeaking world with that of her presence and reception in Poland. While literature by Frischmuth is enormously popular in the Germanspeaking world and her position on the Austrian cultural scene is of the first rank, there is scarce knowledge, popularity or regard for either her works or her in Poland. Only a couple of short texts and just two out of more than twenty novels have been translated into Polish. Polish academic interest seems to be limited to centers in Wrocław and Częstochowa. Since Barbara Frischmuth questions gender relations and interculturalism, her works deserve both greater attention and a more active publishing policy in Poland.
Die Untersuchung der Präsenz und der Aufnahme der Werke von Barbara Frischmuth, einer der MitbegründerInnen der Grazer Gruppe, im deutschsprachigen Raum und in Polen wurde durch den 75. Geburtstag der Autorin und ihre Lesereise in Polen angeregt. Angesichts der enormen Frequenz der Literatur von und über Frischmuth im deutschen Sprachraum und ihrem Rang in der Kulturszene Österreichs, ist die Kenntnis und Popularität ihrer Werke in Polen verhältnismäßig bescheiden. Es wurden nur zwei von insgesamt über 20 Romanen und zwei kurze Prosatexte ins Polnische übersetzt. Das Interesse seitens der polnischen Leser beschränkt sich auf wenige akademische Zentren (Wrocław, Częstochowa). Da Barbara Frischmuth in ihrem Schaffen Fragen der Geschlechterbeziehungen und der heute besonders aktuellen Interkulturalität aufnimmt, verdient ihr Schaffen mehr Aufmerksamkeit und eine aktive Verlagspolitik.
Impulsem dla zbadania obecności i recepcji utworów Barbary Frischmuth, jednej ze współzałożycieli Grazer Gruppe, w krajach niemieckiego obszaru językowego i w Polsce, był jubileusz 75. urodzin pisarki i jej wizyta autorska w Polsce. Z perspektywy ogromnej frekwencji twórczości Frischmuth i ilości literatury przedmiotowej na temat jej dzieł w krajach niemieckojęzycznych oraz znaczenia pisarki dla współczesnej kultury austriackiej znajomość jej utworów w Polsce jest stosunkowo skromna. Przetłumaczono zaledwie dwie z ponad 20 powieści, ponadto dwa krótkie teksty prozą. Zainteresowanie ze strony polskich badaczy ogranicza się do kilku centrów akademickich (Wrocław, Poznań, Opole, Częstochowa). Ze względu na aktualność i wagę poruszanej przez Frischmuth problematyki (relacje płci i interkulturowość) jej twórczość zasługuje na większe zainteresowanie i aktywniejszą politykę wydawniczą w Polsce.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie istotnej roli kompetencji w procesie budowania i rozwijania trwałych relacji międzykulturowych przez pracowników globalnych korporacji hotelowych. W celu zgromadzenia materiału badawczego przeprowadzono badanie wśród 148 pracowników hoteli, z działów zajmujących się obsługą nabywców usług i kontrahentów, w okresie od czerwca do września 2017 r., przy wykorzystaniu sondażu diagnostycznego. Zrealizowano je za pomocą metody ankietowej, wykorzystując samodzielnie opracowany kwestionariusz. Z analizy wynika, że do najbardziej rozwiniętych kompetencji badani zaliczyli umiejętność budowania relacji międzykulturowych i komunikowania się, znajomość języków obcych oraz tolerancję różnorodności.
The purpose of this study is to present the hotel staff’s opinions on the competences needed to build and develop sustainable intercultural relationships in global hotel corporations. The data was collected among 148 hotel staff from the departments dealing with buyers and contractors. The study was conducted using a questionnaire and a diagnostic poll, during which the author’s questionnaire was applied. The results of the analysis have confirmed that among the most developed competences employees have is the ability to build intercultural relationships, communicate and speak foreign languages and tolerate diversity. The research shows that hotels strive to gain competitive advantage by developing intercultural competencies, which allow them to build sustainable relationships.

Te author describes the main task of lifelong intercul-tural education, which is conducting educational activities that will facilitate the transition from reaction to the otherness (as in multiculturalism) to interaction with the “other” (as in interculturalism).

During the past decade the interest of scientists in multiculturalism has increased significantly, as the need for the development of intercultural competency has become more explicitly manifested in the work environment of organizations. In Lithuania the analysis of intercultural competency is still quite a new research area and is conducted intermittently, i.e. only certain aspects related to intercultural competency are analysed. This article analyses various scientific approaches to the phenomenon of interculturalism and tendencies of its manifestation in the organizational environment. The authors present an empirical research which involved nearly half a thousand respondents (N=464) from the capital public institutions and small municipalities of Lithuania employees who work primarily in the public sector. The survey questionnaire allows to assess skills of intercultural competency, the geography and frequency of intercultural communication, dimensions of competencies of employees in Lithuanian organizations, etc. and to establish the problems characteristic of the competency development. Based on the obtained data the authors of the article establish the problems characteristic of the development of intercultural competence in Lithuanian organizations and provide an overview of future perspectives.

Debido al proceso de globalización, es necesario repensar los para-digmas en uso, pues las contradicciones de los procesos interétnicos y los conflictos interculturales se aceleran. En el mundo actual donde predomina el multiculturalismo, el proceso de convivencia con el “otro”, aunque complejo, necesita ser respetado y to-lerado para que la alteridad no se convierta en un obstáculo en las relaciones sociales, y la posibilidad de abertura para los diálogos entre las civilizaciones sea una realidad.

Studies on the patterns of marital selection began in the 1920s, and since then researchers have identified a set of variables that should be taken into account in marriage selection research. In this study the following variables are considered: age, nationality, race, social class, environmental background, attitude to faith, religion, attitude to religious practices, education, current employment status, previous marital status, number of marriages, number of children from previous marriages, and financial situation before the present marriage. One hundred and twelve Polish women who married foreigners from non-European cultures took part in the study. Their husbands were representatives of African, Asian and Australian countries; none of them came from Europe or the Americas.The aim of the study is to examine marital selection among intercultural marriages and to provide new knowledge on the subject. In connection with the adopted topic, the purpose of the research and the analysis of the literature on the subject, the main problem of the research was formulated as follows: what are the similarities and differences in marital selection in intercultural marriages?The study revealed that, in most cases, marital selection among the couples who participated in the study followed a similar social biography: the spouses were of a similar age (79.5%) and shared race (90.1%), social class (74.1%), environmental background (61.6%), education (56.2%), attitude to faith (92.8%), and their financial situation before the present marriage (65.2%). The results obtained confirmed Farle’s theory, in which he distinguished three main factors influencing the frequency of intercultural marriages: military service, higher education and place of residence. The analysis of the data indicates that the majority of the respondents lived in big cities (57.1%), and higher education was the most common level of education among both the respondents (60.7%) and their husbands (41.1%).

Przygotowany artykuł zawiera analizę zagadnień, znajdujących się w nurcie pedagogiki międzykulturowej, m.in. pojęć wielokulturowości i międzykulturowości, kreowania tożsamości w kontekście wielokulturowości oraz edukacji wielo- i międzykulturowej. Przedstawiono w nim również sytuację osób z uszkodzonym narządem słuchu oraz tworzoną przez nich kulturę, której podstawę stanowi odmienny od dominującego sposób komunikowania, czyli język migowy, w relacji z kulturą grupy dominującej, jaką stanowią osoby w pełni sprawne, posługujące się językiem fonicznym. Współwystępowanie na tym samym terytorium odmiennych, nierównorzędnych kultur wywołuje konsekwencje dla edukacji dziecka niesłyszącego, na które odpowiedzią może być realizowana metodą nauczania bilingwalnego jako rozwiązanie, pozwalające na swobodny rozwój (szczególnie językowy), a także przekaz norm i wartości właściwych dla kultury mniejszościowej oraz nabywanie treści uniwersalnych w sposób adekwatny do potrzeb wychowanków.
The article includes an analysis of issues concerning the question of intercultural pedagogy, i.e. the notions of multiculturalism and interculturalism, creating identity in the context of multiculturalism and multicultural and intercultural education. It also presents the situation of people with hearing impairment and the culture they create on the basis of sign language, a way of communication different from the dominant one, in relation with the culture of the dominant group, people who are perfectly able and use the phonic language. Coexistence of distinct cultures of unequal status in the same area has consequences for the education of a deaf child. One solution might be a method of bilingual teaching that enables unimpeded development (in particular language development) while passing on norms and values typical of the minority culture and acquiring general facts in a manner appropriate to the learner’s needs.

The article is an attempt to explain the meaning of the following terms: multiculturalism, interculturalism, transculturality in the context of the development of axiological competences by young people. The author shares his extensive experience in the implementation of local and international educational projects as part of the School of Dialogue – a program, thanks to which students from Murowana Goślina discovered the Jewish past of their town and developed their own tolerance. The article refers to the concept of ten principles of dialogue, the implementation of which is an opportunity to strengthen attitudes among students of the Polish school based on respect for otherness and acceptance of diversity
Artykuł jest próbą ukazania zakresu znaczeniowego następujących pojęć: wielokulturowość, międzykulturowość, transkulturowość w kontekście rozwijania przez młodych ludzi kompetencji aksjologicznych. Autor tekstu dzieli się bogatym doświadczeniem w realizacji projektów edukacyjnych o charakterze lokalnym oraz międzynarodowym w ramach Szkoły Dialogu – programu, dzięki któremu uczniowie z Murowanej Gośliny odkrywali żydowską przeszłość swojego miasta oraz rozwijali własną tolerancję. Artykuł przywołuje koncepcję dziesięciu zasad dialogu, których wcielanie w życie jest szansą wzmacniania wśród uczniów polskiej szkoły postaw opartych na szacunku wobec inności oraz akceptacji różnorodności.

This paper discusses transnationalism and transnational economic migration as a new context of vocational counselling development. It is assumed that prefix cultures are the most important globalizational context of transnational vocational counselling development in Poland and the European Union. The idea of international labor mobility was, for a long time in the EU, a source of optimism related to prosperity and political consolidation. The meanders of introducing TVC evolved, in time, towards a positive as well as counterproductive direction. The former is exemplified by establishing a European post-graduate TVC studies program, whereas the latter, negative tendencies, can be exemplified by the growth of vocationalcounselling geopolitics in the context of prefix cultures and international competition on labor markets. The paper also discusses Polish hopes and fears regarding TVC, specifically certifying migrant qualifications as well as Brain-Drain and Brain-Gain.
Artykuł omawia transnacjonalizm i transnarodowe migracje zarobkowe jako nowy kontekst rozwoju poradnictwa zawodowego. Zakłada się, że kultury prefiksów stanowią obecnie najważniejszy globalizacyjny kontekst ewolucji transnarodowego poradnictwa zawodowego w Polsce i w Unii Europejskiej. Idea międzynarodowej mobilności pracy była przez długi czas w UE źródłem optymizmu odnośnie do jej celów pomyślnego rozwoju, jak i konsolidacji politycznej. Meandry wdrażania w życie ideologii TPZ z czasem ewoluowały zarówno w pozytywnym kierunku, jak i w kierunku rozwiązań kontrproduktywnych. Przykładem tendencji pierwszego rodzaju jest opracowanie europejskiego programu studiów podyplomowych TPZ. Z kolei przykładem ewolucji tendencji negatywnych jest rozwój geopolityki poradnictwa zawodowego w kontekście kultury prefiksów i międzynarodowej konkurencji na rynkach pracy. W artykule omawiane są też polskie nadzieje i niepokoje związane z TPZ w perspektywie takich zagadnień, jak poświadczanie kwalifikacji migrantów czy Brain-Drain i Brain-Gain.

In the study LACE (Languages and Cultures in Europe), which was carried out in 2008 for the European Commission’s Directorate for Multilingualism, the team started from the perception that education – and especially foreign language teaching – can fulfil at least a part of the expectations, if it focuses concretely on the development of abilities, skills and, above all, intercultural competences of pupils. The project LACE was built on theories of intercultural competences (Chen and Starosta 2005; Byram 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002) with an objective to deliver some evidence to form a basis for devising appropriate policies in the European multilingual space.

Migration is one of the features of the modern world. It increases mainly in Europe. Italy is the country that is most exposed to immigrant influx. The subject of this study is to present issues related to migration waves in the legal and court perspective. A special part has been devoted to migration and its problems in Italy.
Migracja jest jednym ze zjawisk współczesnego świata, nasilającym się przede wszystkim w Europie. Krajem narażonym na największe przypływy imigrantów są Włochy. Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania jest przedstawienie zagadnień związanych z falami migracyjnymi oraz łączącymi się z tym zjawiskiem problemami prawnymi i sądowymi. Szczególna część artykułu została poświęcona migracji i jej problemom we Włoszech.

Due to the emergence of new social problems resulting from weakening pro-integration moods regarding culturally, ethnically, or religiously diverse societies, the Acting in Context by Training the Trainers in Social Empowerment (ACTTE) project was prepared and implemented. The Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAWA) financed the project as part of the International Academic Partnerships program. The project goals were: 1) shaping competencies/skills in the field of DPA (Developing the Power to Act) in organized training participants (NGO employees and academic teachers), 2) developing tools for intervention work based on the concept of Empowerment. Within the training, the research was carried out based on the action research methodology and the use of scaling and uncategorized interview. The article presents the excerpt of the research, which was aimed at determining the changes in the competencies related to the use of the DPA approach in the project’s participants, as well as their subjective understanding of the DPA. The presented research results show the legitimacy of the project implementation by partner institutions, which are universities and non-governmental organizations. The competences and skills acquired by the project participants can be used in academic and environmental work.

In the article, I propose a conception of aesthetics that undermines the dogmatic idea of a pure discipline exempt from moral evaluation. This project is motivated by cross-cultural research. The second part overviews the articles published in this issue which are organized along their interculturalism.
