Opis:
Short-term traffic flow prediction plays a significant role in various applications of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), such as road traffic control and route guidance. This requires the development of intelligent prediction approaches for accurate and timely traffic flow information. To handle this issue, this paper emphasizes the potential of a new idea to propose a high-quality and intelligent prediction of short-term traffic flow in ITS. The proposed model, referred to as ITS-Pro-Flow, takes the benefits of the well-known Profile-Energy (Pro-Energy) as a landmark solution, relying on past observations and current conditions to forecast future short-term traffic flow volume. ITS-Pro-Flow has an effective prediction mechanism due to its unique enhancements over Pro-Energy. The distinctive feature of ITS-Pro-Flow is that it dynamically adjusts the contributions of past predictions and current observations for a particular prediction, which is equally performed in Pro-Energy. We prove the performance of ITS-Pro-Flow through extensive simulations with 2 datasets, in comparison to Pro-Energy and IPro-Energy. Performance results clearly indicate that ITS-Pro-Flow provides more accurate predictions than other schemes.

This article contains results of studies on the applicability of data from Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for the purposes of geographical studies regarding the spatial mobility of inhabitants within a big city. The article focuses on the option of applying two types of sub-systems – induction loops and automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) – and includes examples of analyses based on the resulting data, which can serve as a basis for mobility studies. The area on the example of which the capabilities of application of ITS data have been presented is Lodz – a large city in central Poland. The conducted research shows that ITS systems offer an enormous potential in providing data for spatial mobility studies. In order to fully exploit its worth, however, it is imperative to expand the research procedure by including, for instance, the results of qualitative research. Also, the interpretation of results obtained on the basis of ITS data ought to be performed with an awareness of numerous significant preliminary and simplifying assumptions.

Intelligent transport systems (ITS) are undoubtedly an opportunity for the sustainable development of smart cities today. ITS is based on advanced transport technologies that help minimise the emission of harmful substances to the environment. Smart mobility and ITS are related to the use of ICT. The implementation of technologically advanced ITS is associated with several benefits, barriers and difficulties. However, transport, ITS and smart mobility (as a component of a smart city) are indicated as the most desirable option for sustainable urban transport systems. The article aims to identify barriers related to the implementation of ITS in cities from the point of view of people responsible for the organisation of urban transport representing the local government of selected voivodship cities in Poland. The goal formulated in this way allowed to identify the following research question: what are the problems and barriers of implementing ITS in the city from the local government’s perspective? To achieve the paper’s aim, the author based their analysis on a qualitative technique of collecting empirical data. Ten individual in-depth interviews were conducted with representatives of local governments (vice-mayors and members of urban transport organisers) in voivodship cities, which represented six Polish macro-regions. Research results and findings indicate the main categories and subcategories of barriers related to the ITS implementation. The identified barriers are grouped into the following categories: economic, social, organisational, technological and legal. The contribution is twofold: first, in the presentation of the theoretical and practical barriers to ITS in juxtaposition; and second, in identifying the intelligent transportation impact, which affects the provision of being a smarter city. The findings can positively influence as important factors for local governments to focus on intelligent transport.

Urbanization has created continuous growth in transportation demand, leading to serious issues, including infrastructure overload, disrupted traffic flow, and associated vehicular emissions. As a result, resolving these problems has become one of the primary missions of governments worldwide. The optimization of the traffic signal timing system is considered a promising approach to overcoming the negative consequences of increasing vehicle volume. In metropolises, oversaturated intersections, where the traffic density and vehicle exhaust emission levels are significant, have been considered as the priority to target. Several scientists have attempted to design traffic lights with the most appropriate timing. However, the majority of previous studies have not formed a comprehensive evaluation of essential factors, especially regarding the appropriate weighting of vehicle emission parameters. By assessing the all-inclusive relationship of critical elements with an emphasis on vehicle exhaust emissions, a performance index model using a genetic algorithm (GA) is established in this paper, demonstrated by data from a case study in Taiwan.

Transport remains one of the pillars of development with a view to accelerating economic growth and reducing poverty. It facilitates the exchanges and the circulation of goods and people. Madagascar, as some African countries, lags considerably in the development of its regional trade, mainly due to the lack of reliable and adequate transportation system. Therefore, it has to be recognized that in order to achieve sustainable development, it is necessary to focus the efforts of the State and its development partners to the specific questions of transport and communications in Madagascar. So, the implement of telematics system might be one of the solutions that aim to develop the transport area. The aim of this paper is to undertake the implement of telematics in any area and environment, especially in some countries in Africa, in this case Madagascar, where this technology is not yet used. Also, the paper focuses on the expertise in transport engineering via transport system telematics in order to use telematics system in the proper way.

In contrast to traditional systems for monitoring fault of the running gear of the rolling stock, this paper proposes a technology of noise control at the onset of defects. The authors consider the possibility of creating an intelligent system that can perform noise diagnostics with the indication of the beginning of the latent period of the initiation of typical defects preceding faults. To this end, using the noise technology, sets of reference informative attributes are created in the training process. The reference sets, in turn, are used to determine the condition of the object at the beginning of the development of defects by comparing them with current noise estimates. It also allows controlling the dynamics of the development of defects.

Traffic engineers or generally - people working with road traffic, it is generally knows that on the intersections with traffic lights the way to increase capacity is extend the signal cycle. However, this method is usually not effective for tram traffic. The article discusses why this phenomenon occurs and what steps can be taken when, as a result of a failure, the situation makes an increase of tram traffic capacity necessary.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie idei koncepcji smart city oraz planów rozwoju z zakresu ekonomii współdzielenia w miastach.
The development of engineering technologies and the increase of planning possibilities contributed to the development of modern urban agglomerations. In the fight against the chronic phenomenon of construction, combining air generated by transport or the dominance of individual motorization and other urban functions, the often-used concept is the Smart City concept. A number of solutions in the field of individual mobility used for cities where they are divided into different forms of transport, e.g. car, bicycle or scooter, is one of the challenges of urban agglomeration means of transport. The purpose of the article is to present the idea of the Smart City concept and to develop the development in the field of sharing economy in cities.

Problematyka analizy niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjnej układów zasilania stosowanych w inteligentnych systemach transportowych (ITS) jest niezwykle istotna z punktu widzenia zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa ruchu. Stosowanie w systemach ITS zaawansowanych urządzeń elektronicznych wymaga zasilania ich z odpowiednio zaprojektowanych układów zasilania. Aby zapewnić ciągłość działania urządzeń elektronicznych stosuje się najczęściej zasilanie podstawowe i rezerwowe. Powinny one cechować się określonymi wartościami wskaźników niezawodnościowych i eksploatacyjnych. Dlatego też został opracowany model niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjny układu zasilania z uwzględnieniem odnawialnych źródeł energii (OZE), jaki jest m.in. stosowany w inteligentnych systemach transportowych. Pozwoliło to na uzyskanie zależności umożliwiających wyznaczenie wartości prawdopodobieństw przebywania układu zasilania zastosowanego w inteligentnym systemie transportowym w określonych stanach niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjnych.
The problem of reliability and exploitation analysis of power systems used in intelligent transport systems (ITS) is extremely important from the point of view of ensuring the traffic safety. The use of advanced electronic devices in ITS systems requires their power supply from properly designed power systems. To ensure the continuity of operation of electronic devices, the basic and backup power supply are most often used. They should have specific values of reliability and performance indicators. Therefore, a reliability and exploitation model of the power system has been developed, taking into account renewable energy sources (RES), such as used in intelligent transport systems. This allowed to obtain dependencies engabling to determine the probability of staying of the power system used in the intelligent transport system in the specified reliability and exploitation states.

Modern transport systems are characterized by the development and implementation of intelligent transport technologies. Today, dynamic forecast models are not used in practice in the operation of a passenger terminal. Decision making is based on some regulatory values for passenger traffic, but this is not sufficient for efficient terminal management. Modern passenger terminals are characterized by dynamic proces variability and consideration of diverse options, taking into account the criteria of safety, reliability analysis, and the continuous research of passenger processing. For any modern marine passenger terminal, it is necessary to use the tool to simulate passenger flows in dynamics. Only in this way it is possible to obtain the analytical information and use it for decision making when solving the problem of the amount of personnel required for passenger service, transport safety, some forecasting tasks and so on. Of particular relevance is the choice of the mathematical transport model and the practical conditions for the implementation of the model in the real terminal operation. In this article, the analysis technique of intelligent simulation-based terminal services provides a new mathematical model of passenger movement inside the terminal and presents a new software instrument. Moreover, the conditions of implementation of some transportation models during the operation of marine passenger terminal are examined. The study represents an example of analytical information used for the forecast of the terminal operations, the analysis of the workload and the efficiency of the organization of the marine terminal.

W artykule zostaną przestawione technologie stosowane w informatyce jako jeden z najważniejszych instrumentów wpływających również na zarządzanie transportem w przedsiębiorstwie. Dodatkowo zastosowanie narzędzi telematycznych umożliwi optymalizację łańcucha dostaw wewnątrz przedsiębiorstwa. Opracowany zostanie model matematyczny bazuje na fuzji klasyfikatorów rozmytych z teorią probabilistyki i teorii ewidencji matematycznej. W badaniach udowodniono, że miękkie metody obliczeniowe bazujące min. na zbiorach rozmytych i sztucznych sieciach neuronowych są odpowiednie dla zadania sterowania łańcuchem logistycznym, a wspomaganie narzędziami telematycznymi usprawni zarządzanie w przedsiębiorstwie.
The purpose of the research is to provide telematics system architecture. The technologies used in computer science are one of the most important instruments also affecting transport management in an enterprise. They may assist the utility of the system, its accessibility, the level of integration and substantially influence the performance of a company. The use of telematics tools will make it possible to optimize the supply chain within the company. This optimization applies to sales forecasting, which affects the material demand, production, etc. A mathematical model has been developed, which is based on the fusion of fuzzy classifiers with the theory of probability and the theory of mathematical evidence. The data affecting sales are, amongst other: delivery lead time, sales records, customer satisfaction, delivery compliance rate, delivery speed ratio, supply excellence ratio, lead times between order taking and delivery, etc. The study has proven that soft calculation methods based on fuzzy sets and artificial neural networks are appropriate for the tasks of the logistics chain control, and the support of telematics tools will improve the management of an enterprise.

During the previous EU financial perspective (2007 - 2013), we observed an intensification of the development of transport management systems using ITS services in Polish cities. One of the biggest territorially and functionally system is Tri-city TRISTAR system, the implementation of which was completed in 2015. The concept of the TRISTAR system and its architecture was developed in the years 2002-2007. Currently, we can observe the intensification of the development of C-ITS services, allowing for the exchange of information between the vehicle and the infrastructure or other vehicles. The existing transport management systems were not prepared, e.g. to communicate with vehicles, and use of Floating Car Data. For this reason, it is necessary to verify the architecture of the systems and indicate the directions of development, allowing them to adapt to the current state of technology and new ITS services. The article presents directions for the development of the TRISTAR system in functional, physical and logical terms. Directions of activities will be indicated to allow the system to be adapted to provide C-ITS services.

Mobility supported via transportation processes are the engine to economic growth of any country. Unfortunately, the existing infrastructure cannot keep up with both growth of population and people mobility, especially in the developing countries. One of the main problem in transportation processes in Africa are accidents caused among others by reckless driving, fatigue, and illegal overloading, as well as poor transportation infrastructure. To improve transportation-oriented safety and drastically reduce transport based accidents and the unnecessary loss of lives are the main today important goal. Can this goal be achieved using telematics? Telematics is a fast-growing industry and it is interesting for various applications and places around the world. The subject of the article is the concept of transport telematics system and its introduction on the example of Burundi. In most cases, intelligent transport system applications in Africa are focused on: traffic monitoring using CCTV cameras, automatic number plate recognition systems, automatic vehicle location systems, and variable traffic management systems.
