The article attempts to analyse the Polish experience relating to the integration of immigrants in a broad macro-historical context, mainly European. The article starts with the presentation of the theoretical conceptions of integration. Next, different challenges of the European socio-historical context of integration and integration policies in Europe are presented. Subsequently, the concepts and practices of the integration in Poland as well as the present state and the prospects of development of the field are discussed in relation to internal and external conditions. The text shows the integration of immigrants as affected, on one hand, by Europeanization and globalization, and on the other, by the Polish special circumstances linked both to a wider social context and to the characteristics of the immigration to Poland.

The purpose of this research is to review a sample of literature in the area of supply chain integration. Considering the extensive amount of literature on supply chain integration, it appears that it is still in its infancy. This study reviews a sample of 152 articles and in doing so throw light on different aspects of supply chain integration namely: vertical integration, functional integration, integration models .It discusses and criticizes the current state of literature on this context so that future researches find directions to contribute to missing points and remove obstacles. The scope of this review is limited to a cross-section of the literature in this area. As such, it cannot, and does not, attempt to be an examination of the full range of the literature, but a sampling of important and influential works.

The major aim of this study was to establish the relationship between functional integration and competitive advantage of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey. The target population was managers working along the supply chain from 270 food and beverage manufacturing firms in Kenya. The two-stage sampling design was employed. The first stage, cluster random sampling, obtained 73 food & beverages manufacturing firms. Second stage, convenience sampling, selected two participants from the 73 selected firms. Thus, a sample size of 146. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data using both the drop and pick and mailing methods. Secondary data was obtained through document analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 28 to generate descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that functional integration had a positive significant linear relationship with a competitive advantage. Additionally, the competitive advantage is anticipated to grow for every unit increase in functional integration. Thus, the study concludes that the parameters of functional integration are crucial in enhancing a company's competitive advantage in the food and beverage industry. Consequently, the study recommends that improvements in integrating functions internally should be strategically implemented.

The novel coronavirus pandemic has triggered an economic slowdown worldwide, aggravating those steadily accumulated inequalities in income and wealth redistribution. Western-type capitalism, international cooperation, and European integration have found themselves at risk. This article points out the resemblances and dissimilarities in policies combating the recessions of 2008 and 2020 on both sides of the Atlantic, focusing specifically on the EU and Canada. It assesses the rising popularity of the welfarestate concept applied both to individuals and entire businesses deemed essential for democracy, notably in the EU, for which the protection of citizens' well-being and solidarity values are at the core of bloc integration. Conceptually conflicting solutions for those crises reflect a profound shift in policy making, reinforcing state interventions vs the neoliberal approach and intensifying discussions on a universal basic income as a tool in redressing socio-economic inequalities. This paper highlights the need for a trans-disciplinary approach to benefit policy making.

Awareness that immigrant integration takes place at a local level has been growing for several years. Immigration policy debates and decisions mostly occur at the national level, but the question of how to implement immigrant integration policy is much more urgent at a local level. The purpose of the article is to present the multidimensionality of integration actions as well as examples of projects considered to be “best practices” that are carried out today at the local level in German and UK cities of different sizes. The countries chosen have long histories of immigration and have developed significantly different approaches to immigration issues, nevertheless local experiences (in both countries) highlight not only differences but also similarities in immigrant integration policy. The surveys presented help us to understand that immigrant integration is a complicated process that can be stimulated in various ways, and that there is no single way to introduce policy towards immigrants.

The aim of the paper is to present issues related to the approach to the integration of immigrants in Poland in the last three decades. The article is seeking an answer to the question of how the approach to immigrant integration has evolved? Does the evolving approach reflect the rising tide of change taking place in Europe? First, the article discusses the issues of migration to Poland. It is essential to consider cultural conditions related to the national identity and migration history of a given country in an attempt to explain the evolution of the integration policy. The subsequent parts analyze the Polish integration policy until 2015 and the integration policy after 2015. The results of the research show that in Poland, the approach to the integration of immigrants has evolved in a short time: from the “strategy of abandonment” to “integration” understood as a two-way process of adaptation to the concept of assimilation.

The aim of the article is to present and evaluate the main activities that support the education of immigrant children in Poland and in selected European countries as well as to compare the models of integration in the field of the education of immigrant children in respective countries.The article uses the following methods: critical analysis of the literature and deductive reasoning techniques. The paper consists of three parts. The first part presents the role of education in integration policy and the objectives of the main models of integration in the area of the education of immigrant children. The second part presents legal regulations and key data relevant to immigrant children in Polish schools. The third part of the article presents integration models in European countries and compares the models of integration in Poland and in other European countries. The research hypothesis is the following: education of immigrant children as an important aspect of the policy of integration is characterised by diversified activities in respective European countries.

Aim. This research paper discusses the educational process of immigrant children in Lithuania with the intention to determine the integration trajectory most likely to be chosen by the immigrant students. Methods. The research methods include legal analysis of Lithuanian legislations related to immigration, immigrant integration and education, meta-analysis of previous research on immigrant integration into Lithuanian society as well as semi-structured interviews with experts of the field. Results. Having completed the research, the following conclusion has been drawn: immigrant children education in Lithuania does not tend to create conditions for successful integration and more often than not influences immigrant students to choose those integration paths that may inspire inner or outer conflict. This is due to the lack of integration policy and strategy at the state level as well as the tendency to create a cultural hierarchy wherein the Lithuanian culture is implicitly considered as above others. Practical application. The results of the research can be used to improve the conditions of immigrant children education in Lithuanian schools on the national level as well as by schools willing to foster the integration of immigrant students; the results can also be considered in the process of establishing integration policy on the state level.

The idea of social integration and integration education is a great challenge not only for the Polish education system, but also for theoretical analyzes and systemic practical solutions aimed at building an integrated society. In relation to people with disabilities is not only an exemplification of the provisions contained in the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” (UN, 2006). It also concerns the change in the social vision of the accessibility of these people to structures existing in contemporary, disability-opening civilized society. However, as demonstrated by the results of research reported in the article, there is still a lot to be done by implementing the postulates created by the ideas of integrating people regardless of their diversity, otherness, physical, mental, and social difference.

The article demonstrates the expediency of integrating of knowledge of the structure and properties of substance and building materials. It is shown that this approach avoids duplication of related material, overcomes inconsistency in the interpretation of concepts, the use of quantities and units of their measurements. Didactic requirements for the implementation of the ideas of integrated learning of related material are substantiated, the integrated content of knowledge of the substance and materials is worked out, different forms and methods of knowledge integration are tested depending on the nature of the integrated material. Special feedback from teachers of special technology and masters of industrial training is received. The training offered by our programs also receives a positive assessment of the students due to the decrease in the workload, the reduction of homework with the same educational significance, the availability of special concepts, the emergence of interest in the study of physics. The experiment reveals that integrated lessons, lectures, laboratory and tests, as well as integrated questions, tasks with integrated content, concretization and supplementation of physical knowledge with general and special ones, use of complex tasks, etc. are found to be effective forms of knowledge integration. Generalization of the results of the experimental work shows the benefits of learning oriented programs that involve the integration of students’ knowledge about the structure and properties of substance and building materials. It is important not to overburden any educational process with excessive integration, but to focus on its optimal use: in fact, the laws of educational integrology are aimed at it.

These process improvement reference models (IRMs) cover different domains such as IT development, IT Services or IT Governance but also share some similarities. As there are organizations that address multiple domains and need to coordinate their processes in their improvement we present MoSaIC, an approach to support organizations to efficiently adopt and conform to multiple IRMs. Our solution realizes a semantic integration of IRMs based on common meta-models. The resulting IRM integration model enables organizations to efficiently implement and asses multiple IRMs and to benefit from synergy effects.

The paper describes the current state of research, where integration of Microsoft Excel and Python interpreter, gives the business user the right tool to solve chosen business process analysis problems like: forecasting, classification or clustering. The integration is done by using Visual Basic for Application (VBA), as well as XLWings Python’s library. Both mechanisms serve as an interfaces between MS Excel and Python to allow the data exchange between each other. Creating the suitable Graphical User Interface (GUI) in Microsoft Excel, gives the business user opportunity to select specific data analysis method available in Python’s environment and set its parameters, without Python’s programming. Running the method by Python’s interpreter can bring the results, which are hard or even impossible to obtain by using Microsoft Excel only. However, the data analysis methods stored in the Python’s script, which are available to the business user, as well as VBA source code, must be designed and implemented by the data scientist. Sample, basic integration between Microsoft Excel and Python’s interpreter is presented in the paper. To present value-added of the proposed software solution, simple case study according to time series forecasting problem is described, where forecasting errors of different methods available in the Microsoft Excel and Python are presented and discussed. The paper ends with conclusions according to the results of the current researches and suggested directions of further research.

This article presents the problem of immigrant integration in Poland. The research objective was to analyze the degree of integration of the immigrants with the host (Polish) society. The authors adopted the concept of 5 dimensions of integration as the theoretical basis for their research. The studies were carried out using a survey questionnaire. They lasted from November 2022 to March 2023 and were carried out via the Internet. 224 immigrants took part in the research. The condition for participation in the study was residence in Poland for at least 2 years. The respondents were asked, among other things, about free practice of one’s religion, access to places where one can practice religion (churches, temples, mosques, etc.), making and maintaining acquaintances, encountering discrimination/hostility on the part of Poles, importance of religion and tradition in adapting to life in Poland, the choice of Poland in the event of the possible re-deciding on the choice of residence place or a possible change of residence place. The analysis of the indicators revealed that the vast majority of the respondents (61%) had integrated with the host society to a great extent. However, a large group of immigrants (39%) who had problems with integration was also identified.

This paper is a presentation of the results of a questionnaire whose main aim was to get acquainted with the opinions of Ukrainians studying at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Cracow University about their academic integration at the above mentioned university. In theoretical terms the article presented the defi nition of integration, its various kinds, dimensions and factors. The study in question was conducted by means of an interview where the questions involved the following things: Are the respondents happy about studying in Poland? What difficulties do they encounter? What reactions do they get to their ethnic dissimilarity? How do they perceive Poles? What differences do they see between Poles and Ukrainians? It appeared that the respondents realized different models of integration, however the proposition being the result of the study is to create a lot of space for dialogue and integration for both Polish and Ukrainian students.

The article examines some new trends among retail chains operating in Poland, in particular what is known as concentration and integration. The analysis was made with the desk research method on the basis of statistical data reported by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The author also used data from league tables ranking the country’s largest businesses and statistics on the development of retail centers in the country. The study confirms that Poland’s retail trade sector has undergone far-reaching concentration and integration over the past several years. Changes have primarily included a growing number of mergers and acquisitions and the substitution of organizational integration with financial ties. These trends have been especially widespread among businesses with Polish capital, but they have also applied to foreign-owned companies, some of which have withdrawn from the Polish market, the author says. The current course of concentration and integration processes in Poland’s retail trade seems to indicate that the sector’s future development will see more mergers and acquisitions and further development of retail centers, Maleszyk says. These trends are in line with what is happening in highly developed countries, the author concludes.

Research results show that regional integration processes in Africa are determined by natural conditions, economic and political determinants, as well as by adopted model of integration. As integration effects in Africa prove to be highly unsatisfactory, a critical review of adopted integration model seems to be necessary. International institutions should also verify their approach to African integration in order to provide this continent with an optimal balance between local regionalism and economic globalization.

Disintegration of villages was the important process of social change in Poland during the Century of 1918-2018 years. It run nor in the linear nor in the one directed manner however. The process of disintegration of rural community was not universal one on the territory of Poland. It also has no unilateral effects during the period of 1918-2018. The consolidation, connection, affiliation of economic, social and cultural domain of the State were the most characteristic trends of the period of the twenty years before of the Second World War. The rapid changes in the earlier process of integration of rural social community took over during The Second World War and next years implemented by new policy in Poland after 1945 year. The new rules of transformation intensify the discussion connected with problems of village and agriculture after 1989 year. Slowly, step by step, there were come into sight the new symptoms of the reintegration process of local village community after 30 years of transformation.

Differentiated integration is often considered ‘integration gone wrong’ and not a normal and permanent feature of the ever larger and more heterogeneous European Union. With the growing impact of the widening, deepening and politicization dynamics, the Union has been conceptualized as a ‘system of differentiated integration’. At the same time, concerns over ‘disintegration’ are mounting. In this light it seems crucial to refl ect on the relationship between differentiation and disintegration: does the former lead to the latter? Should we prevent further differentiation, or promote it as means of making the EU more successful? On one hand, European integration theories provide few adequate answers on the mechanisms and conditions for disintegration. On the other hand, analysis of other regional organizations puts the European dilemma into perspective, and it seems that the existence of various forms of differentiation does not prevent successful cooperation.

Aim/purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze regional trade integration of 10 Central and Eastern Europe countries (CEE-10) during the 2004-2018 period, identify regional- and country-level integration patterns and attribute them to potential causes indicated by the literature. Design/methodology/approach - The paper employed literature-based trade integration indicators to data on CEE-10 trade in goods and conducted a review of empirical studies investigating trade integration determinants in CEE. Findings - The results evidence an advancing regional trade integration with decreasing pace in recent years. The study has found all CEE countries to be more integrated with the region. Moreover, several integration patterns have been distinguished. Research implications/limitations - The study found a significant literature gap concerning CEE regional trade integration and its determinants. Its limitations refer to: lack of product-groups-level trade data and narrow scope of trade flows (in goods only). Originality/value/contribution - The paper's value-added stems from a multi-perspective analysis of the CEE regional trade integration and a discussion of region- and country-level integration patterns.

Opis:
Pedagogical foundations of integration processes in education are discussed in the article. The problem of determining the essence, goals and signifiance of integration in the educational process is investigated. Levels of integration are highlighted (level of interdisciplinary connections, didactic synthesis, integrity). The role of interdisciplinary connections of natural science disciplines as an objective factor in the formation of students’ competence and activation of their cognitive activity is substantiated. The genesis of the development of this concept is considered. The importance of interdisciplinary connections in the educational process is highlighted. In addition, the article focuses on the problem of determining the functions of interdisciplinary connections. The problem of classification of interdisciplinary connections is investigated.
Artykuł dotyczy pedagogicznych podstaw procesów integracyjnych w edukacji. Badany jest problem określania istoty, celów i poziomów integracji. Doceniono rolę interdyscyplinarnych powiązań nauk przyrodniczych jako obiektywnego czynnika kształtowania kompetencji uczniów i aktywizacji ich aktywności poznawczej. Uwzględniono genezę rozwoju tej koncepcji. Podkreślono kwestię znaczenia stosowania interdyscyplinarnych powiązań w procesie edukacyjnym. Stwierdzono także problem związany z definicją funkcji i klasyfikacją połączeń interdyscyplinarnych.

Due to rapid urbanization, urban open spaces are becoming increasingly significant, both in the inhabitants’ daily and societal lives. This significance is even more applicable for the densely populated city of Dhaka, which has historically overseen numerous urban migrations. Regretfully, the inhabitants of Dhaka can access only a few urban recreational facilities, public open spaces in particular. Due to illegal encroachment, low maintenance, and rigid policymaking, those limited number of open spaces are becoming gradually deteriorated and are in the potential danger of greater extinction soon. The Hatirjheel wetland area inside Dhaka has recently been restored as an important public open space to connect the city’s green-blue network. Accessibility is a significant spatial parameter to judge its potential success. This research analysed how accessibility would optimize the multi-scalar relationship between neighbourhoods and urban activities. With use a series of syntactic analyses, it was also searched for the Hatirjheel wetland’s potentials as an active urban open space to accelerate local and global activity. The possible weaknesses behind those open spaces’ inactiveness were investigated both theoretically and practically. Finally, some recommendations were suggested by analysing these circumstances in aim to improve the current conditions and obtain optimum benefits from the existing open space.

This article investigates practices and integration strategies implemented by a European network of universities with regard to refugees and international students, in particular, integration practices at two levels: governance and policies, regarding the institutional initiatives used and their relative success; second, the experience of such policies by international students. Our study revealed that in relation to refugee integration there is an overall lack of organisation, with too little, scattered information with respect to a bottom-up policy. In contrast, with regard to international students the system works fairly well, due to the top-down policy promoted by the EU. We propose that the EU put in place a specific program for refugee integration, such as ERASMUS+, focused on strengthening links with refugee families and schools with a high proportion of refugees.

The aid of this article was to present the forms of cooperation established by groups / organizations of fruit and vegetable producers. On the basis of the literature and market observation, it was noted that groups /organizations of fruit and vegetable producers cooperate with each other to form associations, consortia or clusters. Cooperative activities are undertaken to increase the competitiveness of fruit and vegetable producer groups / organizations on a more demanding market. Some of them are supported by the policy of EU and national agendas. There were also not only horizontal but also vertical links between producers on the market. If they want to use their raw material to a greater extent and increase the range of products offered, the groups / organizations of fruit and vegetable growers expand their activity by cooperating with processors. Considering the change in shopping habits of consumers, it can be stated that this is one of the ways of development for the sector.

One of the main problems associated with the phenomenon of multiculturalism of modern society is the question of intercultural education and its role in preparing secondary school graduates and employees to work and coexist in a multicultural environment. A particularly important aspect of its activities is in the sphere of the development of appropriate human attitudes and cultural and legal awareness, as well as respect for the standards and the rules of social interaction arising from cultural diversity. Developing intercultural competence including improving knowledge, developing skills and attitudes regarding relationships and human functioning in a culturally diverse society is therefore an important area of activity in schools, universities and centres of postgraduate education. The aim of this paper is to discuss issues related to multicultural societies and the challenges for education and lifelong learning that result from the phenomenon of multiculturalism.

As of today, most of the data processing systems have to deal with a large amount of data originated from numerous sources. Data sources almost always differ regarding its purpose of existence. Thus model, data processing engine and technology differ intensely. Due to current trend for systems fusion there is a growing demand for data to be present in a common way regardless of its legacy. Many systems have been devised as a response to such integration needs. However, the present data integration systems mostly are dedicated solutions that bring constraints and issues when considered in general. In this paper we will focus on the present solutions for data integration, their flaws originating from their architecture or design concepts and present an abstract and general approach that could be introduced as an response to existing issues. The system integration is considered out of scope for this paper, we will focus particularly on efficient data integration.

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badania gotowości młodzieży polskiej i ukraińskiej do integracji szkolnej z uczniami z niepełnosprawnością. W analizie wyników uwzględniono narodowość badanej młodzieży oraz jej doświadczenia w kontaktach z rówieśnikami z niepełnosprawnością w okresie edukacji wczesnoszkolnej. Wyniki badań pokazały, iż doświadczanie kontaktów z rówieśnikami z niepełnosprawnością w okresie wczesnej edukacji może być czynnikiem różnicującym dojrzałość badanych uczniów do uczestnictwa w integracyjnych formach kształcenia.
The article presents the results of the analysis of the readiness of Polish and Ukrainian youthfor school integration with their peers with disabilities. The analysis of the research results tookinto account the nationality of the surveyed youth and their experience in dealing with peers withdisabilities during early childhood education. The research results show that experiencing contactwith peers with disabilities during early education can be a factor differentiating the maturity ofthe surveyed students to participate in inclusive forms of education.

Structural changes in trade and transport environment have come about in response to globalization of production centres, factors and consumption patterns coupled with technological advances in ship and shipping methods. The resulting demand pressure induced on supply chains means that supply chain partners must innovate to remain afloat. On the other hand, ports have been at the receiving end being a critical node in the supply chain. Through content analysis and review of extant literature, the structural changes in the global transport chains were assessed to determine their broad implications on ports. The findings suggest that ports must adopt proactive measures aimed at accommodating strategic interests of shippers and shipping lines/carriers which constitute their major supply chain customers. In line with previous studies, this paper makes a case for adoption of efficiency measures in ports for sustained viability given the prevailing fluid transport environment.

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of fare integration on the demand for public transport and the role of IT technologies and cash-free payments in this process. The paper presents the results of a critical literature review of studies conducted in this area so far. This approach enables the integration of theoretical and empirical findings, and perspectives of fragmented and interdisciplinary studies. Fare integration in cities is one of the factors that increase the demand for urban public transport services. This results from an improved image of public transport, easier promotion of services, more eligible passenger information, and easier use of services due to the uniform regulations and fares. In addition, for travelers, fare integration means cheaper services because they do not need to buy separate tickets corresponding to various organizers or carriers. The implementation of solutions from the field of fare integration is also related to costs; one can primarily mention the transaction costs and those related to the introduction of new solutions into the sales systems. The increase in the demand for public transport services due to the implementation of fare integration, results in external benefits that affect the sustainability of city transport systems and, thereby, justifies the funding of it by the public sector, which is accountable for ensuring efficient public transport.

The dynamics of the integration process varies in case of the first and the following generations of emigrants. It is quite challenging though to describe all the details of the integration process of Polish migrants to Ireland due to the short period of Poland’s membership in the EU. However, it is important to analyze the barriers which are becoming more and more visible on the way to integration of the first “pioneer migrant generation”. The aim of the paper is the multi-dimentional analysis of the factors impeding Polish migrants’ integration into the Irish society. The analysis refers to the empirical research based on the technique of in-depth interviews. The main focus is on the two aspects of integration: the social and the cultural ones. The social aspect of integration includes: career trajectory, participation in the social life of the local community and interpersonal relations. The cultural aspect of integration includes: language skills, values and behavioural patterns as well as everyday culture and rituals. The analysis focuses both on individuals and on institutions, that is the activities of Polish-Irish associations, and stresses the factors impeding the integration process of Polish migrants. Those factors can be divided into: social factors such as weak ties with Irish people and institutions and desire to come back to Poland; cultural factors such as insufficient language skills and lack of knowledge of norms and behavioral patterns; legal factors such as reluctance to acquire Irish citizenship and unwillingness to participate in the Irish political life; and finally, spatial factors that is lack of contacts with the Irish people in the migrant’s local communities.

This paper describes efficient methods for integration polynomial functions on elements of the unitary group with respect to the Haar measure. Some methods for special cases are shown. Finally examples of applications are described.
W pracy przedstawione zostały efektywne algorytmy całkowania funkcji wielomianowych na grupie macierzy unitarnych względem miary Haara. Przywołana została formuła Collinsa-Sniadego służąca do obliczania rozpatrywanej całki. Następnie rozpatrzono możliwości przyśpieszenia obliczeń prezentując efektywny algorytm. Pokazano szczególne przypadki rodzin wielomianów, dla których wartość całki może być wyznaczona analitycznie. Zostały również przywołane przykłady zastosowań całkowania wielomianów macierzy unitarnych w różnych działach nauki.

They are just one of the examples of such solutions used in all Germany.

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy demograficznych uwarunkowań gotowości młodzieży do integracji szkolnej z rówieśnikami z niepełnosprawnością. W badaniach uczestniczyło 422 uczniów liceum. Wyniki badań ujawniły istotną rolę płci, miejsca zamieszkania oraz wykształce-nia ojca w określaniu dojrzałość badanych do uczestnictwa w integracyjnych formach edukacji.
The paper presents the results of a demographic analysis of the conditions of youth readiness for school integration of peers with disabilities. The study involved 422 high school students. The findings revealed the important role of gender, place of residence as well as the father's education in determining the maturity of the subjects to participate in integrative forms of education.

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy gotowości młodzieży polskiej i ukraińskiej do integracji szkolnej z rówieśnikami z niepełnosprawnością. W badaniach uczestniczyło 169 uczniów z Ukrainy i 170 uczniów z Polski. Wyniki badań pokazały, iż występują istotne statystycznie różnice między badanymi grupami w zakresie trzech głównych wymiarów analizowanej gotowości integracyjnej.
The article presents the results of the analysis of the readiness of Polish and Ukrainian youthfor school integration with their peers with disabilities. 169 students from Ukraine and 170 students from Poland participated in the analysis. The research results showed that there are statistically significant differences between the study groups in terms of the three main dimensions of theanalysed integration readiness.

Celem autorki artykułu jest pogłębienie refleksji dotyczącej tego, czym jest ewaluacja i analiza tak rozumianej polityki integracyjnej oraz przedstawienie prób wypracowania ich ram w wybranych państwach UE.
The subject of the considerations undertaken in the article is evaluation and analysis of integration policy, i.e. the one that concerns the integration of foreigners. Integration is understood as a dynamic, two-way process of mutual accommodation by all immigrants and residents of the European Union Member States (EU MS). The article aims at deepening the reflection on what it means to evaluate and analyse the integration policy defined this way as well as presenting the attempts to develop relevant frameworks in selected EU Member States.

The subject matter of this paper is the development of language awareness in the society in the context of the integration of diverse social classes in Poland in the period 1918–1939. This study covers several specifi c aspects: 1) language awareness of the Polish intelligentsia, 2) language integration of the Polish dialectal environments, 3) language integration of other nationalities, 4) role of the regionalistic movement and the Polish school in integrating the state. In the linguistic studies on the interwar period, the researchers have concentrated on the language used by the educated class and the Polish national identity, and – as emphasised by the author – not enough attention has been given to the evolution of the language awareness of the lower social class and the complicated language and national awareness in the borderline between ethnical groups. This paper briefl y discusses the source material, which could be used in further research: peasants’ diaries, Sejm records, linguistic and sociological studies from the interwar period.

Some people behind terrorist attacks committed in the 21st century in Europe include immigrants or descendants of immigrants, which is abominable to the native population. In this paper, I analyse factors that account not only for cultural or political motivation of the terrorists, but also factors conditioned by interaction between immigrants or their descendants with indigenous people of the host country. One of the fundamental questions to be asked is whether immigrants in European countries are really accepted by residents of the host country. If they are indeed not accepted, they might have developed a sense of exclusion, even despite achieving apparent integration at certain levels of the social structure. The sense of being rejected is a major factor causing aggression, and such aggression can be used by terrorist organisations to recruit such people.

This paper reports the results of a study concerned with the problems of integration in education at an elementary level. 130 parents of students with various types and degrees of disability and 130 parents of students without disabilities were asked to provide feedback in this area. On average, the classes applied in the study involved 17 students without a disability and 5 with a diagnosed disability. The tool used in research was a questionnaire comprising 7 questions combined with a certificate with supplementary information (age of the child, place of residence, type of disability). Parents and teachers of integrated classes also provided information in the form of a completed questionnaire. The parents involved in the research are residents of the Opolskie Voivodeship (county) in the age range of 30-57. The research results indicate that the level of satisfaction within an integrated setting in education is higher within the group of parents of disabled students. Both groups of parents surveyed highly value the presence of two teachers in the classroom, as well as the chance to adapt the curricula to the capabilities of students with disabilities and talented non-disabled students, as well as the opportunities provided for the development of cooperation and mutual help between students. The analysis of research results also indicates poor knowledge on the part of parents regarding the system of integrated education and their lack of confidence in the educational abilities of children with disabilities. A small group of surveyed parents did not observe any positive aspects of integrated education, and stress that the crucial task of schools is informed by the work of teachers and the selection of students. During interviews with parents and teachers in integrated classes, we can note the lack of social education aimed at raising public awareness with regard to the problems of disabled students. An important problem is also associated with the lack of awareness of parents of non-disabled children concerning the values of pupil performance in an informal integrated setting.

In the field of education we observe many positive changes in equalising educational opportunities for children and young people with disabilities. The most important changes have led to the inclusive paradigm which posits education of disabled children together with children with special educational needs. The article deals with issues related to educational inclusion, variously understood by parents of disabled children. Parents experiencing the disability of their children tend to normalize their lives, including education in a mainstream kindergarten. When talking about their children’s education, they unveiled personal meanings given to this event, showed their individual truths and the reality they experience. The stories they told were given a subjective meaning, which from their perspective is important and shapes their being.

The idea of European integration and frequently also subsequent unification of law in Europe may seem to be quite a recent topic. If it is talked about, it is more or less in scope of decades, or with regards to the recent change of era, it might be considered no earlier than a last century issue. However, the roots of European integration can be found, without any doubt, much earlier; namely at the time when the Roman Empire had not only been forming the European organization for many centuries, but also the history of part of the territory of African and Asian continent. Although the motivations of their masterminds were different, we encounter some efforts to assure durable peace through peace treaties between those who really wanted to achieve it. First agreements of this type – putting peace under penalties of international legal nature, were already known in Old age.

The Second Polish Republic was re-established as a whole composed of peripheral areas of three powers. In these circumstances, after regaining independence, the idea of restoring unity at various levels became the focus of the Polish raison d’etat. At that time the radio, which at the end of World War I revolutionised communication and the transfer of information, could prove useful in supporting the process of unifying the state and society by means of extensive propaganda campaigns. Two main attitudes were presented in a public debate on the shape of the national radio in Poland. The citizens’ movement promoted a model of the radio as a monopolistic organisation subject to the State, operating on the basis of a license and subscription, responsible for carrying out a mission for the benefit of the state and society. Polish Radio S.A. preferred the private and commercial model of radio. In this configuration, two interesting personalities faced each other, Zygmunt Chamiec with the support of Polish Radio and Stanisław Odyniec, a participant and co-coordinator of the social radio amateur movement for the development of national broadcasting, closely associated with the Polish Radio Technical Society.

As multiculturalism in the United Kingdom passes to a ‘post’ phase of existence, at least in academic and political discourse, it is important to consider the lingering impact of over fifty years of its presence in the form of Race Relations and integration measures. This article aims at a critical reassessment of the overarching strategies that have developed over the last half-century in relation to the integration of immigrants by putting the legacy of British multiculturalism into a firm historical and socio-political context; by marrying immigration and integration policies with normative models of integration in the hope of drawing a certain causality between them; and finally by highlighting the changes that have taken shape amidst the continuity of certain shared principles or frames of reference. The first part of the article looks at immigration and integration policies in Britain through a historical perspective; the second section delves into the concept of integration itself and its complex manifestations in British politics and policies; finally, a critical review of the development of these policies and their 21st century manifestations and outcomes are discussed in the third section. The analysis shows that the United Kingdom has, over the last decade, seen an ever-stronger intertwining of immigration and integration policies towards a robust civic integration approach, made evident in the introduction of citizenship and language testing schemes and strict pre-conditions on entry. Meanwhile, the turn in anti-discrimination legislation has been rather subtler. It has extended its reach to other areas of inequality, focusing on more pressing, or less contentious minority group support, such as women and LGBT rights, whilst retaining a measure of ethnic and national minority protection.

Introduction. Post-traumatic epilepsy develops as a complication of a serious craniocerebral trauma, frequently an open head injury, resulting in neurological impairments. Aim. The study was designed to discuss problems associated with sensory integration dysfunction observed in a seven-year old girl with epilepsy which occurred as a result of craniocerebral injury. Description of the case. The case study is based on information gained from the girl’s medical records, an interview with her guardians and a sensory function questionnaire. Additional examinations assessed the girl’s balance control, and her functional performance according to Barthel scale. The girl received a three-week sensory integration therapy which included exercise involving tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation, as well as balance exercises and self-care training. Conclusions. In this particular case, application of sensory integration therapy produced beneficial results. The findings show improvement in balance, coordination as well as self-care.

This article attempts to look at migration from an anthropological perspective, especially at the issues of integration and the changes seen in the identity of migrants. Motivation and readiness for change, along with the existing stereotypes and personal experiences of a migrant, constitute successful adaptation in a new place of residence. One of the most important elements of integration in a new society is the knowledge of this group’s language, it facilitates entering the community and is very important in terms of the reproduction of one’s identity in the new place of residence. The recreation of one’s identity is necessary, because a migrant is placed in a completely new reality in which his / her previous social role and status are different. The creation of identity happens in between the two concepts of familiarity and foreignness. The description of the above-mentioned topics was based on the partially structured interviews with Brazilians living in Poznań for at least 2 years. The bibliographies included form the basis of the anthropological analysis of migration.
