The recognition of the importance of early childhood education is steadily increasing. Many reports published in Israel and around the world address the tremendous and critical impact of this age on theindividual and on society. In contrast, the professional image of the preschool teacher in Israel is low, as in many countries. The professional image influences the choice of the teaching profession and theacceptance conditions in the teacher training colleges. This article addresses unique educational pedagogical initiatives that incorporate advanced technology and innovative teaching methods that mayhave positive influence on the preschool teacher’s image and serve as a focus for community involvement, positive advertising, and empowerment of the children and the preschool. Therefore, the aim of the article is to emphasize the importance of the educational initiatives and their direct and indirect impact on the preschool image and the parents’ satisfaction with the preschool activity, to encourage the preschool teachers who do not yet integrate educational initiatives in their activity to do so, and to emphasize the importance of the involvement of the parents and the community in the preschool pedagogical activity. This research was performed through the distribution of questionnaires to the parents in the preschools where educational initiatives were held and in the preschools where these initiatives were not held and the examination of the parents’ satisfaction.

Wyzwaniem, z jakim na co dzień mierzy się większość pracujących, jest konieczność odpowiedniego dzielenia czasu i energii między obowiązki zawodowe a życie prywatne. Wiele osób aktywnych zawodowo doświadcza konfliktu między tymi dwiema sferami życia. W celu jego minimalizowania pracownikom proponowane są rozwiązania, które mają sprzyjać osiąganiu równowagi praca-życie (work-life balance - WLB). Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie, co sprawia, że pracownicy korzystają z proponowanych rozwiązań lub rezygnują z dostępnych możliwości. Autorki skoncentrowały się na wybranych organizacyjnych i indywidualnych uwarunkowaniach wykorzystywania rozwiązań WLB. Przegląd opracowano na podstawie artykułów opublikowanych po 2000 r. wyszukanych w Google Scholar oraz Web of Knowledge z wykorzystaniem słów kluczowych: work-life balance, work-family conflict, work-life balance initiatives, work-life balance initiatives use, korzystanie z rozwiązań WLB. Wśród czynników organizacyjnych omówiono m.in. wpływ kultury organizacyjnej oraz stereotypów i wartości panujących w środowisku pracy, których efektem jest stygmatyzacja osób korzystających z WLB, tzw. flexibility stigma. Omówione zostały przyczyny jej stosowania przez kierownictwo i współpracowników, a także skutki doświadczania jej przez osoby pracujące. Wśród uwarunkowań indywidualnych omówiono m.in. preferencję integrowania vs oddzielania od siebie sfer życia. Z przedstawionego materiału wynika, że normy panujące w danym społeczeństwie, relacje w miejscu pracy oraz uwarunkowania indywidualne, np. poziom posiadanej samokontroli, odgrywają nie mniejszą rolę w decyzjach o korzystaniu z rozwiązań równoważących sfery życia niż samo ich istnienie. Przegląd publikacji pokazuje, że uwarunkowaniom korzystania z rozwiązań WLB, zwłaszcza tym indywidualnym, poświęca się bardzo mało uwagi. Med. Pr. 2014;65(1):119–129
Appropriate distribution of time and energy between work and personal life poses a challenge to many working people. Unfortunately, many professionally active people experience work-family conflict. In order to minimize it, employees are offered various solutions aimed at reconciling professional and private spheres (work-life balance (WLB) initiatives). The authors attempt to answer what makes employees use WLB initiatives and what influences the decision to reject the available options. The review is based on the articles published after 2000, searched by Google Scholar and Web of Knowledge with use of the key words: work-life balance, work-family conflict, work-life balance initiatives, work-life balance initiatives use, use of WLB solutions. We focused on organizational and individual determinants of WLB initiatives use, such as organizational culture, stereotypes and values prevailing in the work environment that may result in stigmatization of workers - flexibility stigma. We discuss the reasons why supervisors and co-workers stigmatize their colleagues, and what are the consequences of experiencing such stigmatization. Among the individual determinants of WLB initiatives use, we have inter alia focused on the preference for integration vs. separation of the spheres of life. The presented material shows that social factors - cultural norms prevailing in a society, relationships in the workplace and individual factors, such as the level of self-control - are of equal importance for decisions of using WLB initiatives as their existence. Purpose – More and more companies are embarking on an experimental journey into an unpredictable future – a future that is characterised by uncertainty and new challenges. Corporate venturing enables established companies, so-called incumbents, to deal with new markets and business models in a highly flexible and innovative way, besides their existing business and well known, successful business models. A new innovator’s dilemma has emerged: not only established companies are required to be increasingly creative and to question existing thought patterns, but it is similar for start ups and new businesses. Research method – After conceptualising the paper and conducting literature bibliometry by VOSviewer, the research gap was identified. It is based on the three presented approaches: Causation, Effectuation and Bricolage as transformative approaches for strategic decision-making. Using a qualitative research by conducting 30 in-depth interviews, a transcription and a MaxQDA analysis, 5 identified corporate venturing tools were shown. Originality/value – The paper introduces a new approach of management which rapidly gains importance and which is crucial for companies in upcoming times to compete with flexible and disruptive start-up based business models.

The aim of this paper is to extract and describe recent social initiatives in food consumption and distribution in Poland and indicate their characteristics related to sustainable consumption, sharing economy and collaborative consumption and to indicate the processes, mechanisms and future development options. Food is among areas that seem to adapt to those ideas more easily which means that individual consumers seem to see value in behaving in a more responsible way. In Poland, social awareness is rather limited and responsible behavior happens on a minor scale for the moment, but more international research shows the great potential of sharing economy. Food is being wasted therefore it constitutes a good ground for changing consumption habits. The paper presents four chosen social initiatives in Poland that refer to a sustainable consumption philosophy and collaborative consumption. Those mini case studies are backed by a thorough analysis of relevant literature, theme contents on websites, and results of secondary research studies dedicated to the issues discussed in the paper. Due to the qualitative character of the study, it shall be followed by more quantitative research to allow for more general insights and conclusions.

W artykule przestawiono te obszary pracy pedagogicznej, które występują w pracy nauczy-ciela i w których może, ale nie musi on funkcjonować. Praca pozalekcyjna nauczyciela stanowi obszar obowiązków podejmowanych dobrowolnie lub o samodzielnie ustalanym zakresie. W artyku-le zostały zawarte ich przykłady. Przyjmowane przez nauczyciela postawy wobec pracy pozalekcyjnej wskazują na jego stosunek do całości działań pedagogicznych w szkole i w zawodzie.
The article presents areas of pedagogical work occurring in teacher’s job in which they can, but not has to function. Teacher’s extracurricular work is an area of duties undertaken freely or with independently determined range. Their examples were included in the article. Taking extracurricular work by teacher indicates their attitude towards the entirety of pedagogic initiatives in school and job.

Through a number of case studies, this paper attempts to provide an overview of the conditions imposed by the cultural policy plus highlight the actual state and operation of the society with regard to Artist Run Initatives which were engaged with an ephemeral ’approach’ during the previous four decades of Hungarian culture. While trying to include some sociological facts, the text, mainly based on the responses of interviewed artists and some fundamental publications, attempts to shed light on the problem of connections between the concept of underground, avantgarde, progressive, official, mainstream and popular culture. The paper delineates the conditions in which the initiatives were formed, their history, pre-history and afterlife of some, subjectively chosen initiatives and groups. It attempts to provide an overview of the Artist Run Initiatives with mind to other fields of Arts.

Aim: The aim of this article is to discuss the global and European concepts of sustainable development and how they can enhance European integration. Design / Research methods: The analysis of statistical data will show positive and negative trends in Europe. In addition, barriers to the implementation of the sustainable development strategy will be indicated, as well as areas in which the EU should put more effort into achieving its ambitious goals. Conclusions / findings: European Union countries stand out in the international arena for their high standard of living, made possible by a high level of economic development and extensive social welfare systems. However, at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries it became clear that maintaining these high standards in the face of fundamental changes – both externally and internally – would require a significant reorientation of the current development policy. Euroscepticism, European integration, globalization and the increasing competitiveness of the rapidly growing Indian and Chinese economies, the IT revolution, the rise of the importance of knowledge and innovation, the prospect of depleting non-renewable natural resources crucial for modern development (combined with the associated risk in prices) are all becoming increasingly prominent in the list of challenges which Europe faces. Originality / value of the article: The article discusses the current statistical data of the whole concept of sustainable development rooted in the Europe 2020 program in contrast to other, studies, which in the majority focus on one issue of European programs. Implications of the research: This analysis complements the discourse regarding the Europe 2020 strategy. JEL: Q01, F15

This paper aims at identification of environmental initiatives and measures that affect maritime ports. The first part of the article describes the trend and drivers towards application of environmental measures in port sector. The second part describes the application of environmental measures and social elements at Port of Koper and analyses the main fields of environmental development. The Port of Koper can be used as the case platform for other similar and equally sized ports in the region, therefore a six pillar environmental with a social pillar platform is presented. The study results could help port management to define a scenario for a faster introduction of environmental and social objectives and measures in order to follow sustainable development and position itself in the future green and sustainable supply chains.
Artykuł ma na celu identyfikację inicjatyw i działań, które mają wpływ na środowisko portów morskich. Pierwsza część artykułu opisuje trend i działania podejmowane w kierunku ochrony środowiska w sektorze portowym. Druga część opisuje przykład portu Koper, analizując wprowadzane rozwiązania odnoszące się do aspektów społecznych i środowiskowych. Koper stanowić może punkt odniesienia dla innych portów w regionie Adriatyku o porównywalnej wielkości, dlatego wyznaczono składający się z 6 elementów model środowiskowy, uwzględniając także uwarunkowania społeczne. Wyniki badań mogą pomóc w zarządzaniu portami, określając wzorcowy scenariusz dla szybszego wdrażania celów i działań tak środowiskowych, jak społecznych, zgodnych ze zrównoważonym rozwojem.

The article describes the trend towards implementation of environmental initiatives in the maritime and port sector. The introduction of environmental thinking and green management has been analysed to better understand the impacts on European ports. Moreover, drivers influencing port’s environmental initiatives and their adoption were analysed empirically on the case of port of Koper which is classified as one of the leading environmentally friendly European ports. Based on an in-deep analysis of developed measures a wider used approach has been proposed which might be used as a platform by the ports in the region and also by other fast developing ports. It is obvious that ports will be forced to implement environmental objects in their longterm development plan. Obtained cognitions should help them to develop a scenario for faster introduction of objects and measures to obtain the status of a green port and follow sustainable development in the future.

Liberalizacja międzynarodowego handlu towarami przyjaznymi środowisku (ekologicznymi) została uwzględniona w mandacie negocjacyjnym rundy rokowań wielostronnych WTO z Ad-Dauhy w 2001 r. Ro-kowania w tej sprawie nie przyniosły dotychczas istotnych rezultatów. Postęp hamują m.in. poważne trudno-ści ze zdefiniowaniem towarów ekologicznych i ich klasyfikacją na potrzeby celne, jak i różnice w podejściu różnych członków WTO do liberalizacji. Nie bez znaczenia jest również fakt, iż liberalizację handlu towa-rami przyjaznymi środowisku promują przede wszystkim kraje rozwinięte i jedynie kilka krajów rozwijają-cych się, będących światowymi liderami w produkcji technologii prośrodowiskowych. Wobec małej sku-teczności działań wielostronnych, członkowie WTO podejmują inicjatywy plurilateralne (porozumienie kra-jów APEC, inicjatywa w sprawie towarów zielonych) oraz włączają odpowiednie postanowienia do zawiera-nych umów o wolnym handlu. W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty dotychczasowych działań międzynaro-dowych w zakresie liberalizacji handlu towarami przyjaznymi środowisku, a także potencjalne skutki plano-wanej liberalizacji plurilateralnej dla handlu międzynarodowego i środowiska przyrodniczego.
The liberalisation of international trade in environmentally friendly (ecological) goods was provided for in the negotiating mandate for the Doha round of multilateral trade negotiations in 2001. However, the nego-tiations have not brought significant results. Progress was blocked, among others, by the serious difficulties in defining the environmental goods and their classification for customs purposes, as well as differences in the approach to liberalisation among WTO members. The fact that the liberalisation of trade in environ-mental goods was encouraged by developed countries and only some of developing ones (world leaders in production of green technologies), was another factor hampering multilateral attempts. Due to the low effectiveness of the multilateral efforts, some WTO members launched the plurilateral ini-tiatives (the agreement of APEC countries, green goods initiative), and include relevant provisions in their free trade agreements concluded with other countries. The article presents the results of international efforts to liberalise trade in environmental goods as well as the potential impact of the proposed plurilateral liberali-sation on international trade and the environment.

Opis:
Odnowa wsi jest jednym ze sposobów osiągania celów rozwojowych, umożliwiającym poprawę jakości życia na obszarach wiejskich. W artykule dokonano analizy przypadków zebranych podczas pobytu studyjnego w Dolnej Austrii. Wskazano czynniki, a także zaprezentowano rozwiązania o charakterze organizacyjno - instytucjonalnym, które w znacznym stopniu determinowały ich przebieg i pozwoliły osiągnąć zamierzone cele. Przedstawiono również wpływ podejmowanych działań w odniesieniu do procesów społeczno – gospodarczych zachodzących na gruncie lokalnym, regionalnym czy krajowym.
The village renewal is one of manners of attaining of development aims, making possible the improvement of quality of life on rural areas. In the article one fulfilled analyses of gathered cases during the studio stay in Lower Austria. Factors were showed, and also presented solutions with organizational - institutional character which greatly determined their course and permitted to reach intentional aims. Also introduced the in uence of undertaken activities with reference to social – economic processes occurring on local ground, regional or national.

Opis:
Żyjemy w epoce „płynnej nowoczesności”, w której coraz częściej wartość dzieł sztuki i kultury materialnej mierzona jest siłą nowości. „Artyści, których przodkowie utożsamiali wartość dzieła z wiecznością jego trwania, a przeto zabiegali jak mogli o jego niezniszczalność i nieskazitelną doskonałość (…), teraz popisują się instalacjami do rozmontowywania po zamknięciu wystawy, happeningami kończącymi się w chwili, gdy uwaga ich aktorów uleci ku innym sprawom, owijaniem mostów w płachty plastikowe do chwili wznowienia ruchu kołowego” [Bauman 2010, s. 16]. Sztuka, o której wspomina Bauman, jej ulotność, tymczasowość, czasami wręcz powierzchowność, jest odzwierciedleniem współczesności, a pojęcia takie jak, piękno czy wartość dzieła sztuki, nadal są poddawane wiarygodnej i przekonującej próbie czasu. W Polsce po 1989 r., tj. w okresie transformacji ustrojowej, ulegając zachłyśnięciu się nowością, skutecznie wyeliminowano wiele wartościowych obiektów architektury i sztuki, niektóre przez zwykłe zaniedbanie, inne z powodu ich proweniencji. Jest to spowodowane brakiem świadomości co do wartości obiektów kultury materialnej przez co z pejzażu polskich miast zniknęło bezpowrotnie wiele pereł powojennej architektury modernistycznej. „Choroba braku ciągłości tocząca polską politykę (na szczeblu centralnym i samorządowym każda ekipa musi zaczynać wszystko od nowa) znalazła (…) architektoniczny ekwiwalent. To co nowe jest z zasady lepsze od tego, co było, przez sam fakt, że jest nowe. Na żadną głębszą refl eksję nie ma tu miejsca” [Springer 2016]. Razem z budynkami znikają towarzyszące im, często wybitne, dekoracje ścienne, będące świadectwem minionych czasów. „W Polsce epoki komunizmu od końca lat 50. do 80. powstały monumentalne kompozycje ścienne wykonywane w technikach malarstwa, mozaiki i sgraffi ta. Część z nich była propagandą systemu politycznego – zarówno w formie obrazów i haseł propagandowych, jak i quasi-reklam ówczesnych instytucji, państwowych zakładów przemysłowych i marek, których produkty z reguły nie były w kraju dostępne [Gralińska-Taborek, Kazimierska-Jerzyk 2014]. Z dzisiejszego punktu widzenia – odrzucając wszelkie negatywne konteksty – wiele z nich odznaczało się wysokim poziomem artystycznym. Niejednokrotnie zamawiano je u renomowanych artystów. Do dzisiaj przetrwały te, które wykonano w klasycznych, trwałych technikach, (takich jak sgraffi to czy mozaika) i nie padły ofi arą niszczenia „reliktów z minionej epoki”.
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the role of social activities, which are able to stimulate among the community a sense of responsibility for the material and cultural heritage. It was assumed, that for the local communities the city becomes a kind of the memory space. The phrase, ambience or atmosphere of place, is expressing the mutual connection between inhabitants and their closest environment. That special type of relationship can cause reaction on even slight changes, which are often perceived as possible threat and violation of safety. The starting point for the article was the demolition of the Neptun Cinema building. This action led to the threat of destruction of unique mosaics of Anna Fiszer. The eff ort to save the composition before it’s annihilation has consolidated the various social groups. This situation also realized them the size of negligence in archiving of art in the public space, created in the post-war period and additionally the scale of omission in the area of administrative and legal decisions. In this context one question was posed – what makes that a dynamic developing city forgets to carry out a constructive discussion regarding the protection and presence of art in public space? The article indicates that the social impulse can have a positive effect on endeavor to preserve the most precious objects of art and architecture, and likewise in raising awareness of designers, architects, investors, city authorities and local government as well.
