Since there is not much available information on cognitive research in the Indonesian context, this paper aims to fill this knowledge gap. Using the notion of Bloom’s taxonomic framework, this paper explores the cognitive elements and representation in the Indonesian language curriculum. A content analysis approach is used in this study. The content analysis is an appropriate tool because it is related to the official documents of the Indonesian national language assessment that is available publicly. The method of data analysis employed a systematic content descriptive text approach. The findings of the study reveal that the content representation of the cognitive taxonomic framework is not balanced among factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognitive knowledge. The findings suggest that the government is recommended to revise the current test questions of the national assessment of the Indonesian language competence.

This paper aims to explore internationalization awareness and commitment of higher education in Indonesia. Since there are no publications on internationalization awareness and commitment for Indonesian higher education, this paper fills this gap. This qualitative case study involved 15 lecturers from an Indonesian university. This study used semi-structured interviews and data from the interviews were analyzed thematically. The research findings reveal that the internationalization of curriculum indicates awareness of internationalization by inviting experts and adapting curricula from developed countries. In addition, the commitment of internationalization was marked by the increasing quantity of international publications and collaboration with domestic and global agencies. The internationalization process faces both cultural and practical constraints. The finding suggests that there should be more elements of internationalization to indicate the preparation and the implementation of internationalization.

Is batik a symbol of the national identity in Indonesia? The birth and the transfiguration of Indonesian national costume This study investigates the national costume in Indonesia, especially one of its components – batik. Is batik a symbol of Indonesian national identity, or is it just a proof of domination of the Javanese culture? In this article, I explore the ways in which batik became a popular costume for Indonesian citizens, defined also as a vehicle for manifestations of many different ideas and identities. I analyze not only briefly a history of batik as a part of Indonesian national costume, but also the ways of its understanding, both in the past an in contemporary Indonesia. Czy batik jest symbolem tożsamości narodowej w Indonezji? Opis:
Fourteen years after the enactment of Indonesian Competition Law, the public has had the chance to witness the enforcement practice of the Commission for the Supervision of Business Activities (the Kppu), the competition supervisory authority of Indonesia. Being recognized as an aggressive competition agency, the enforcement of Indonesian Competition Law seems to largely rely on the discretion of the Kppu. However, a review needs to take place not only of how the competition authority accomplishes its tasks, but also how the enforcement process is outlined in the provisions of the Law itself. Around 72% of the cases dealt with by the Kppu concern bid-rigging, 14% cover other types of cartel practices, further types of anticompetitive conduct account for the rest. Despite being criticized as having excessive authority covering the investigation, prosecution, and ruling on competition law cases, the Kppu faces problems in battling cartel practices because major legal flaws exist, for instance concerning collecting evidences. The discussion will be limited to the combat with cartels. Competition law enforcement through the Kppu is administrative in nature albeit with some criminal law influences (evidence). Although it is possible to enforce the law by means of criminal injunctions and private claims, they have rarely been used so far, mainly because Indonesian Competition Law lacks clarity. Problems with existing procedures are rooted in the Kppu’s inability to obtain sufficient evidences. Two propositions are made how to deal with these difficulties – using indirect evidence and implementing a leniency programme, both based on existing Indonesian Competition Law or by amending the Law and inserting new provisions which would explicitly allow the use of both indirect evidence and a leniency programme.

Opis:
Indonesia is an archipelago with a coastline of about 81,000 km and has enormous cultivation potential. The area that's the potential for aquaculture is estimated at 15.59 million hectares, consisting of 2.23 million hectares of freshwater cultivation land, 1.22 million hectares of cultivated land in brackish waters, and 12.14 million hectares of marine areas. Nowadays, only 10.1% freshwater, 40% of brackish water, and 0.01% of the marine area potentially suitable for cultivation are being used. However, land use for shrimp farming until 2017 has only reached 20% of the total potential. It is still very open to developing land for the extensification of shrimp farming. Shrimp is one of the non-oil and gas export commodities that play a crucial role. Besides the high price, shrimp also has a large market in various countries. Although the industry suffered disease outbreaks and environmental problems, Vannamei shrimp farming has recently seen a rapid expansion in Indonesia due to superior varieties and disease resistant shrimp. Vannamei shrimp is a new variety that’s some advantages, including more resistance or resistance to disease and low environmental quality, high stocking density, shorter rearing time, which is around 90-100 days per cycle. This study provides some necessary background for Vannamei shrimp farming in Indonesia. It focuses on the operating characteristics of shrimp farming in brief. Emphasis is placed on the impact of shrimp farming on the environment. Promising strategies for reducing nutrient release from shrimp farming are analyzed. Effective management measures to resolve or mitigate the adverse environmental effect of shrimp farming development have now become necessary and urgent. The sustainability of shrimp farming depends on many factors including the completeness of policies and regulations, good ecology, superior breeding and various kinds of cultivation technology and government support, advances in technology digitization and cooperation between industries shrimp farming.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors have become essential considerations for stakeholders. Balancing external and internal performance is crucial. However, there are some constraints to implementing ESG at the corporate level, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to test the effect of ESG on corporate performance. The non-financial firms listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2016–2020 were used as a sample. Empirical evidence found the U-shaped effect of ESG rating on corporate performance. Further, robustness tests are conducted by dividing the sample annually and removing the 2020 period to show more robust evidence. In contrast, the results showed no evidence of a U-shaped effect. The robustness test showed that the ESG rating positively affected corporate performance in 2016–2019 and turned negative in 2020, the first time COVID-19 happened in Indonesia. This result indicated that in a crisis time, implementing ESG will be costly and reflected in financial performance. In contrast, during a non-crisis time, ESG positively impacts financial performance.

In recent years, the implementation of machine learning applications started to apply in other possible fields, such as economics, especially investment. But, many methods and modeling are used without knowing the most suitable one for predicting particular data. This study aims to find the most suitable model for predicting stock prices using statistical learning with Arima Box-Jenkins, RNN, LSTM, and GRU deep learning methods using stock price data for 4 (four) major banks in Indonesia, namely BRI, BNI, BCA, and Mandiri, from 2013 to 2022. The result showed that the ARIMA Box-Jenkins modeling is unsuitable for predicting BRI, BNI, BCA, and Bank Mandiri stock prices. In comparison, GRU presented the best performance in the case of predicting the stock prices of BRI, BNI, BCA, and Bank Mandiri. The limitation of this research was data type was only time series data. It limits our instrument to four statistical methode only.

One of the complexities of the ocean currents in the territorial waters of Indonesia is oceanic eddies form. Ocean eddy is one of the very crucial phenomena in the ocean due to its circulation and connection with the chemical and biological aspects in the water column. This study aimed to observe the distribution of oceanic eddies associated with the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Sea Surface Height (SSH) with the Automatic Eddy Detection (AED) method. The analysis included distribution and types correlated with seasons. The results showed that eddies occur in all regions in the Indonesian Seas except the Java Sea. In general, the occurrence of eddies every month does not differ significantly for both Ocean Cyclonic Eddies (OCE) and Ocean Anticyclonic Eddies (OAE). The total oceanic eddies in a year are around 1,149 events. A minimum radius of the ocean eddies found was about 5.08 km, and a maximum was around 386.76 km. Furthermore, the occurrence of OCE is mostly in locations that are almost the same as OAE. Both types of eddy are mostly in locations with the boundary of temperatures and the boundary of SSH. Several eddies exist every month and mostly change or move into other areas. Eddies in Indonesia seas are influenced by differences of SST and different SSH that form ocean currents. Opis:
COVID-19 is a disease emerged from China in the late 2019 and still spreading to this date. Scientists worldwide are trying to give their contributions in many aspects, from searching for the vaccine to studying several policies in many aspects to deal with this disease. One of the important researches in COVID-19 is to study and predict the dynamic of the spreading by using epidemiological model. This research has been taken in many countries independently since the behavior of COVID-19 spreading might differ from one another. Each country has their own characteristics-e.g., the population density, geographic condition, health facilities and infrastructure, weather condition-which caused the different patterns of COVID-19 spreading. Therefore, each country probably has their own unique parameters which describe their own dynamicity of COVID-19 spreading even though the epidemiological models used in different countries are the same. Thus, in this paper, we estimate the parameters involved in our SIR epidemiological model for cases in Indonesia by using Least Square Method in Python. We use the daily cases released from Indonesian COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force. Several assumptions are made in this model, including the assumption that there is no vaccination to be released yet. The result shows that the COVID-19 will still exists in Indonesia for over 1.9 years from the first case emerged (until mid January 2022).

The abundance of microplastics (MP) in the aquatic environment is increasingly disturbing for maritime countries, especially Indonesia, because it has the potential to threaten the health and sustainability of aquatic ecosystems. This review summarized and discussed the distribution of MP abundance in Indonesian aquatic ecosystems which concluded that rivers, bays and estuaries, beaches, seas, and even fish and shellfish have been contaminated. The highest contamination of MP was found in the waters of Jakarta, West Java, and East Java, which are densely populated areas. The potential threat of exposure and accumulation of MP to human health was also discussed. However, differences in the methods and units of measurement for MP as well as limited information regarding the interaction of MP with human organ functions are weaknesses in this review. The future research on the relationship between food and feeding habits of the community around contaminated waters with the accumulation of MP in the human body is needed to identify the prevention and treatment strategies.

This qualitative study aims to encompass Indonesia’s interest in seeking to join the MSG (Melanesian Spearhead Group). An in-depth interview was carried out with the Director of Directorate General of Asia, Pacific, and Africa under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia aiming to obtain valid data supported by literature reviews. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s attempts to join the MSG or Melanesian intergovernmental organizations basically aim to maintain domestic stability which, in this context, refers to closing down separatist movements that still exist in Indonesia, such as the FPM (Free Papua Movement), that explicitly receive international support from Melanesian countries sharing the same racial background. In an effort to preserve the country’s sovereignty, Indonesia, in the era of President Joko Widodo, strives to join the MSG to prevent the Melanesian intergovernmental organization from supporting such separatist groups, which from Indonesia’s perspective could disrupt the unity of the Republic of Indonesia.

One of the most popular technologies is the internet of things (IoT). It refers to the number of users and penetration in the industry (I-IoT) and consumer (C-IoT) sectors. The previous studies indicated that the usage rate of the C-IoT is outperforming the I-IoT worldwide. However, the contrary indication occurred in Indonesia. Among developing countries, the spending level of IoT in Indonesia is significant, but the use level of the technology is less developed. This survey study purposed to predict what factors influence the behavior intention to use C-IoT. The researchers extended the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model by adopting the network externality aspects. Around 400 valid data were collected from urban communities in the six most populous provinces in the country. The scholars used the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method using SmartPLS 3.3 in the data analysis stage. The findings expressed that the number of users and social influence factors are not influential factors influencing behavior intention to use IoT. Besides that, the UTAUT model extension may also be one of the theoretical references for future similar studies. Practically, the findings may also be one of the considerations for the stakeholders of C-IoT implementation in Indonesia.

Diversity of tourist attraction of the regencies/cities in West Java provides an alternative for travellers. One of the potential activity that can be utilized is coastal tourism. The main objective of this research was to provide a suitable site for tourism sites which can be used as a guide for government, private and planners to decide for the development of coastal tourism. Furthermore, visitors can use this application to get information about the beach resources—primary data in tabular data form and secondary data in vector format and satellite imagery format. ArcGIS was used for spatial analysis of thematic. Simple Additive Weighting method was used in this research to rank the factors and to calculate the weight in each factor. This method was commonly used for resolving spatial decision-making problems. The decision-maker directly assigns a weight of relative importance to each factor. There were 32 beach sites visited in the survey with 20 sites of suitable category and 12 sites belonging to a very suitable category. Pangandaran Regency has the most beach site at ten beaches (32.5%), consisting of 7 sites of suitable category and three sites of very suitable category. They are followed by Sukabumi which has nine sites, consisting of 7 sites of suitable category and two sites of very suitable category. The least number of sites were found in Cianjur regency, which only has three sites, consisting of 1 suitable site and two very suitable sites. According to the result, it can be seen that tourism was more developed in Pangandaran and Sukabumi regency. Besides the infrastructure support, natural conditions also influence the development of coastal tourism in the area.

For most of the former European colonies of South and Southeast Asia, the end of the Second World War was also the beginning of the end of colonial rule. With independence came the challenge of unifying disparate ethnic, religious and linguistic communities into cohesive nations– a challenge that some countries met more successfully than others. The price of failure could be high – hundreds of thousands were killed, and many millions displaced in 1947, as inter-communal conflicts tore British India apart. Indonesia declared independence in 1945 (a declaration not recognised by the country’s Dutch colonial rulers until 1949), while Burma (as Myanmar was then known) was granted independence by Britain in 1948. Both countries were able to avoid tragedies on the scale of the Indian Partition. Nevertheless, nation-building has been a difficult and as yet uncompleted process, the source of continuing challenges tonational security. This article looks at the situation in the two countries, traces the origins of some of the current problems, and attempts to explain why Indonesia has generally been more successful in this respect than Myanmar, despite the similarities in the initial situations of the two countries.

Background. Unfinished tuberculosis (TB) treatment has slowly but surely become an unexpected event in the disease’s development into drug-resistant TB. Developing countries, mostly comprised of Asian and Eastern European countries, including Indonesia, have been overwhelmed in preventing drug-resistant TB outcomes and have also failed to avoid the development of this disease. Objectives. This review discusses the current issue of an unfinished first-line TB treatment strategy in primary care in Indonesia, presenting some relevant strategies in developing countries. Material and methods. A narrative review approach conducted on all existing evidence in selected scientific bibliographic sources. The researchers defined the keywords based on the research question as a search strategy. Results. Scarce resources and limited access, alongside national policy on TB control and management, contribute in different ways to impede first-line TB treatment in Indonesia. Empowerment of TB patients and their families are considered the best ways to increase awareness on TB medication in a low- to middle-income setting. The role of the hospital and private practitioner networks in the treatment and management of TB patients is essential for developing active-case-finding-approach programs for TB suspects in primary care in an Indonesian setting. Contrarily, the potential misunderstandings in TB treatment have led to peculiar events affected by poor surveillance systems for TB investigation contacts to prevent TB incidences in large populations. Conclusions. This study addressed the barrier of all stakeholders, particularly primary care, to achieve the Indonesian government’s goals of TB elimination by 2030 and zero TB findings by 2050
