The article presents solutions of crossroads which make it possible to eradicate dangerous places at selected crossroads in Rzeszów. The solution consists in redeveloping traffic lights signalizations and installations of self-exited system with automatic traffic measurements. The idea of safety increase comes down to the implementation of accommodated traffic lights for all road traffic users. This installation is adapted to the road traffic changes by altering the time of green signals for vehicular traffic and omitting the green lights for pedestrians if not necessary. The traffic control is realized on the basis of current registration of traffic intensity with a video detecting system (for vehicular traffic) and push-button (for pedestrian traffic). At the crossroads there are separate roadways to turn left. The traffic control system is divided into four elementary traffic phases, the sequence of which is dependent on the analyzed traffic situation. The safety increase was also accomplished by improvements of friction grip. It was a result of a special layer of SMA asphalt (4 centimeter thickness) application. Additionally, there were safety barriers built, which preclude car parking in the neighborhood of crossroads. These solutions increased visibility at crossroads. The goal of the rebuilding was to decrease the number of road accidents in vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The bettering of the traffic flow and the improvement of safety at Rzeszów crossroads were achieved by the crossroads rebuilding and traffic control system application at the following crossroads: Lubelska - Mączka - Wyzwolenia streets and Targowa -Pilsudskiego - Głowackiego Streets. The investment project assumed over 50% decrease of the quantity of road accidents.

Also presented is floods since XVIII - XXI century, their influence and places of failures.

Opis:
The subject of this paper is the analysis and evaluation of the reasons for construction costs increases in urban regeneration projects. The analysis considers major refurbishments of real estates’, as well as heavy repair and modernization of the road system. For the period mentioned, the costs from works and expenditure schedules were compared with the costs of additional works, which shows the percentage cost increase in relation to initial project budget assumptions of the case study. The analysis revealed that due to difficulties in assessing technical state of inhabited buildings, the investor and potential contractor should pay special attention to the character of issues presented in this paper, taking into account an increased risk of their occurrence.

Biological parameters of the larval parasitoid Cephalonomia tarsalis (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae) and its host the saw-toothed beetle Oryzapehilus surinamensis (L.) (Coleoptera: Silvanidae) were studied in the laboratory. The duration of the immature period, survival during development, as well as adult longevity and the number of progeny of both insects were recorded. Our data were used for the estimation of several demographic parameters and life table construction of both the host and the parasitoid. The wasp managed to complete its development (egg – adult) in 19.8 days at 25o C, whereas the adult female lived for 24.3 days. The host O. surinamensis demonstrated a longer developmental period (30.5 days) and adult female longevity (103.0 days). Female wasps laid an average of66.4 eggs throughout their lifetime whereas their beetle hosts laid five times more eggs (313.9). Life table parameters of C. tarsalis were estimated for the first time. The intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm) was 0.124 which was almost double that of its host (0.056). Our results are discussed on the basis of evaluating and improving the performance of C. tarsalis as a biocontrol agent against O. surinamensis in storage facilities.

This paper presents the development of a cooling apparatus using water in a commercial photovoltaic panel in order to analyze the increased efficiency through decreased operating temperature. The system enables the application of reuse water flow, at ambient temperature, on the front surface of PV panel and is composed of an inclined plane support, a perforated aluminum profile and a water gutter. A luminaire was specially developed to simulate the solar radiation over the module under test in a closed room, free from the influence of external climatic conditions, to carry out the repetition of the experiment in controlled situations. The first case study was published at EEEIC2016 conference where the panel was submitted to different rates of water flow, from 1 L/min to 4 L/min. In the test conditions without cooling apparatus, the panel reached about 70°C and produced approximately 63Wh. With the cooling apparatus with water flow rate of 2 L/min, the module reached about 50°C and produced approximately 77Wh. However, it has been observed that this water flow was overestimated. A second case study was carried out in order to perform the threshold between the flow and the energy produced. The best ratio was flow of 0.6 L/min and net energy of 77.41Wh. Gain of 22.69% compared to the panel without the cooling system. The best water flow rate was of 0.6 L/min and net energy of 77.41Wh. Gain of 22.69% compared to the panel without the cooling system.

The amount of currently generated wastes originating from different branches of industry, in accordance with the requirements of the applicable national legislation, shall be successively reduced. The properly made analysis of the possibilities for reusing wastes generated during the course of the production cycle, coupled simultaneously with the analysis of the generated waste management procedures, provides a real possibility of reducing their quantities, which may additionally be significantly reflected in the reduction of the enterprise running costs. Upon implementing new technologies for handling the generated wastes – as a recognized by-product – the appropriate waste management method may contribute to the improvement of the plant's viability and profit. The implementation of new activities and procedures concerning the organization of the waste handling method, planned to this end, should be coupled with the simultaneous review and analysis of available technologies that assure the utilization of the waste as a by-product, directly at its source. In the light of the foregoing, the knowledge of the main factors having an effect on the increase in waste management efficiency, while taking account of the applicable environmental requirements and standards, becomes a basis for achieving the ecological effect and the resultant financial effect.
Ilość wytarzanych obecnie odpadów pochodzących z różnych gałęzi przemysłu zgodnie z wymogami obowiązującego prawa krajowego w tej materii winna być sukcesywnie ograniczana. Odpowiednio przeprowadzona analiza możliwości dalszego wykorzystania powstających w trakcie cyklu produkcyjnego odpadów, połączona jednocześnie z analizą procedur zarządzania wytwarzanymi odpadami daje realną możliwość ograniczenia ich ilości, co dodatkowo w sposób znaczący może znaleźć odzwierciedlenie w obniżeniu kosztów funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa. Po wprowadzeniu nowych technologii w zakresie postępowania z wytwarzanymi odpadami jako uznanym produktem ubocznym, odpowiedni sposób gospodarki odpadowej może przyczynić się do poprawy wzrostu rentowności i zysku zakładu. Planowane w tym celu wdrożenie przez zakład nowych działań i procedur dotyczących organizacji sposobu postępowania z odpadami, winno być połączone z jednoczesnym przeglądem i analizą dostępnych technologii gwarantujących wykorzystanie odpadu jako produktu ubocznego bezpośrednio w miejscu jego powstawania. W świetle powyższego znajomość głównych czynników mających wpływ na wzrost efektywności gospodarowania odpadami przy jednoczesnym uwzględnieniu obowiązujących wymogów i norm środowiskowych, staje się podstawą osiągnięcia efektu ekologicznego i wynikającego z niego efektu finansowego.

In the paper presented is a novel concept to utilize the heat from the turbine bleed to improve the quality of working fluid vapour in the organic Rankine cycle (ORC), which contributes to the increase of ORC efficiency and the overall efficiency of the combined system of the power plant and ORC plant. Calculations have been accomplished for the case when available is waste heat as a flow rate of hot water at a temperature of 90 ◦C, which is used for preliminary heating of working fluid in ORC cycle. That hot water is obtained as a result of conversion of exhaust gases from power plant to the energy of hot water. Then the working fluid in ORC is further heated by the bleed steam to reach 120 ◦C. Such vapour is subsequently directed to the turbine. Possible working fluids were examined, namely R134a, silicone oils MM and MDM, toluene, and ethanol. Only under conditions of 120 ◦C/40 ◦C the silicone oil MM showed the best performance, in all other cases the ethanol proved to be best performing fluid of all. Results are compared with the ‘stand alone’ ORC module showing its superiority.

The capitalization of reserves constitutes an important aspect in the enterprise management, particularly as an element of the forming the structure of equity which can increase the market value of the enterprise. Against this background the realistic estimate of the increasing the share capital of the enterprisesʼs using own funds and its impast on the development of the enterpriseʼs market value come into a relevant prominence. The fundamental purpose of this article is to assess the correlation between the volumes formed in terms of the Polish capital market. The review of the hypothesis on existence of the growth potential of the market value and its positives changes as a result of the capitalization of reserves, has been conducted on the basis of the analyzing companies quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The empirical surveys have been preceded by the theoretical deliberations upon the essence of the economic effects of the share capital increase under capitalization of reserves.

Reliable and good suppliers are an important competitive advantage for a customer and that is why the development of suppliers, improvement of performance and enhancement of customership are also in the interest of the customer. The purpose of this study is to clarify a customer’s possibilities to increase the performance of a service provider and to develop the service process in FM services and thus help to improve partnership development. This research is a qualitative research. The research complements the existing generic model of supplier development towards partnership development by customer and clarifies the special features that facility management services bring to this model. The data has been gathered from interviews of customers and service providers in the facility management service sector. The result is a model of customers’ possibilities to develop the performance of service providers from the viewpoint of value addition and relationship development and in that way ensure added value to the customer and the development of a long-term relationship. The results can be beneficial to customers when they develop the cooperation between the customer and the service provider toward being more strategic and more partnership focused.

Dead fish due to reversal of water mass in floating net cages cultivation, most of which cannot be sold because they are not suitable for consumption or processing into food. One effort that can be done to increase the added value of dead fish is processed into silage. Silage is a very good feed ingredient for fish and poultry because of its low metabolic basal energy. This study aims to determine the effect of increasing the scale of production on the characteristics of fish silage quality. The research method used was experimental with a complete randomized design consisting of 3 treatments namely a) scale of production of 1 kg of fish, b) scale of production of 5 kg of fish, and c) scale of production of 25 kg of fish. The three treatments were repeated 3 times. The parameters observed were protein content, fat, ash content, water content and amino acid composition of silage fluid and rendemen. Data obtained from all observation variables except amino acid compositions were analyzed by F test, if significant continued with Duncan test, each test was carried out at 95% confidence level. The results of the study obtained conclusions that the quality characteristics of fish silage made from dead fish due to reversal of water mass were not affected by the scale of the production process. The silage quality characteristics produced in this study were protein content of 16.02%, fat content of 8.98%, ash content of 2.35%, carbohydrate content of 2.45% and moisture content of 70.2%. Rendemen is 62.72%.

The Internet of Production (IoP) describes a vision in which a broad range of different production data is available in real-time. Based on this data, for example, new control types can be implemented, which improve individual manufacturing processes directly at the machine. A possible application scenario is a tool deflection compensation. Although the problem of tool deflection is well known in the industrial field, a process-parallel compensation is not common in industrial applications. State-of-the-art solutions require time and cost consuming tests to determine necessary cutting parameters. An NC-integrated compensation that adapts the tool path in real-time will make these tests obsolete and furthermore enables higher chip removal rates. In this paper, a control-internal real-time compensation of tool deflection is described, which is based on a process-parallel measurement of process forces. The compensation software is designed as an extension to the NC kernel and thereby integrated into the position control loop of an in-series NC. The compensation movements are generated by manipulating the reference values of the feed axes. The approach is investigated by experiments with linear axis movements. During these tests, a significantly reduction of geometrical machining errors is possible.

The paper describes design of the five-stroke engine developed in the Chair of Combustion Engines at Cracow University of Technology. The idea of five-stroke engine, in which the expansion ratio is significantly greater than the compression ratio has been presented by the Belgian engineer Gerhard Schmitz. The prototype of such an engine was made by Ilmor Engineering. Engine developers have released results of preliminary research, but there is no detailed information on the toxic exhaust emissions. For this reason, at Cracow University of Technology the research was undertaken to determine the impact of implementing the five-stroke cycle into the engine with spark ignition to reduce toxic emissions and increase total efficiency. To achieve this goal, the test engine was built, which is based on a concept similar to the idea of Gerhard Schmitz, with the difference that it has not been designed from the ground up, and it is based on an existing four-cylinder four-stroke engine. In comparison with the original solution, the engine built in Cracow has a completely different design of timing system, four valves per cylinder and petrol direct injection. This paper presents a detailed description of the engine design and the results of its preliminary research. The results of the tests of the five-stroke engine confirm an increase of specific torque and power (related to unit of engine displacement) and improve of total efficiency within a certain range of the engine map.

The paper presents a method for preliminary estimation of the length of the midship body block, which inserted in the original hull, increases the deadweight of the ship in line with a required quantity. The method may be useful for establishing the scope of conversion to better adjust the ship for transportation tasks. The problem is formulated by using a mathematical model so selected that its solution, under set of assumptions, is obtained in a closed analytical form. The presented method can be useful for application to pre-investment analysis of the ship conversion costs and functional profits.

Drilling with a rotary steerable system, the mechanical drilling speed increases by two times compared to drilling with a screw bottom-hole motor, which provides significant savings drilling-time. The effective length of the horizontal elbow increases, which enables to increase the production rate more than twice. It is found that in comparison with the bottom hole motor, rotary steerable system provides drilling smoother barrel, which reduces the risk of accidents to come out. The dependence between the type of the bent housing and the most rational fields of its application is revealed, recommendations on the choice of the rotary steerable system for various issues of directional drilling are developed.

Mathematics and physics are based on two numbers: Archimedes’ constant = 3,14… and e = 2,71… – Napier’s constant. The former reflects the ratio of the perimeter of a figure to its diameter and maximizes the area, given the diameter. The solutions are the disk and the circle. The latter represents the accumulated capital paid by a bank after one year from investing one unit of money at an annual interest rate of 100% under continuous compounding. The ratio of the disk’s perimeter to its diameter, i.e. , governs omnipresent cyclical motion, whereas Napier’s constant determines natural growth – exponential growth. Nature mixes both kinds of behaviour: there is equilibrium – vortices, and the cobweb model, dynamic growth. Our general remarks are corroborated by the theory of linear differential equations with constant coefficients. Social life – democracy and quality – despite the deceptive chaos of accidental behaviour, is also governed by a beautiful numeral law. This social number is λ = ⅔ whose notation is derived from the Greek meaning crowd, people, assembly. The social number, Łyko’s number, is defined by the fundamental theorem. If each alternative of a maximal relation of a given profile has its frequency in this profile greater than ⅔, then such relation is a group preference.
