Opis:
We present a new theoretical construct labeled motivational readiness. It is defined as the inclination, whether or not ultimately implemented, to satisfy a desire. A general model of readiness is described which builds on the work of prior theories, including animal learning models and personality approaches, and which aims to integrate a variety of research findings across different domains of motivational research. Components of this model include the Want state (that is, an individual’s currently active desire), and the Expectancy of being able to satisfy that Want. We maintain that the Want concept is the critical ingredient in motivational readiness: without it, readiness cannot exist. In contrast, some motivational readiness can exist without Expectancy. We also discuss the role of incentive in motivational readiness. Incentive is presently conceived of in terms of a Match between a Want and a Perceived Situational Affordance. Whereas in classic models incentive was portrayed as a first order determinant of motivational readiness, here we describe it as a second order factor which affects readiness by influencing Want, Expectancy, or both. The new model’s relation to its theoretical predecessors, and its implications for future research, also are discussed.

This study is to analyze the effectiveness of an incentive-based obesity management program (the Midas Project aimed to improve good health habits) at an electronics company in 2005. A total of 95 company participants with a high body mass index (BMI) were recruited for a health promotion program for 3 months that awarded gold medals as an incentive for body fat loss. BMI decreased from 28.8 to 27.8 kg/m² (p = .000), body weight decreased from 87.2 to 83.5 kg (p = .000), and body fat weight decreased from 25.4 to 23.3 kg (p = .000). Systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased from 130.5 to 125.1 mmHg (p = .002), from 86.4 to 81.7 mmHg (p = .009). The percentage of participants exercising more than 3 times per week increased from 27.3 to 52.3% (p = .000). The percentage who avoided overeating at parties and midnight eating increased from 65.9 to 72.7% (p = .767) and 70.5 to 84.1% (p = .172), respectively. This incentive-based obesity management program was effective in improving not only BMI but also health status.

A characterization of companies of the SME sector in Poland demonstrates the importance of improving the process of human capital management. Analysis of the specific attributes of the companies in this sector and an evaluation of the human capital management system proves the advisability of improving the quality of incentive systems. Another argument is the level of job satisfaction and employee satisfaction. These findings are derived from research carried out on a representative, nationwide sample. It is for this reason that a rational direction for improving the incentive systems is the application of solutions based on a new paradigm that is concerned with the level of employee satisfaction. Such a paradigm becomes not only a substantive, but also an objective necessity under difficult management conditions.

The purpose of the presented research was to find out which external and internal considerations and life experience motivate students for acquiring university education for the teaching profession to major in preschool teaching. Data collection was based on the method of unstructured interview on a given theme. Evaluation was based on coding. The presented factors are external factors of the “people” category. Every category is divided into sub-categories and the subcategories are further subdivided to subgroups on the basis of the nature of the incentive. Young people were mainly affected in their decision-making by their mother, her professional and private behaviour, by positive stimuli from their grandmothers, aunts and children. Fathers were not mentioned as actors in making this kind of decision. The most frequently mentioned human factor was represented by female teachers on different levels of education and from different school types. The discouraging factors included schoolmates. Children and schoolmates were newly identified considerations.

The article is a review and its aim is to present a proposal of a measurement method of efficacy of incentive instrument in contemporary sports organizations. The research material used in this paper is of secondary importance. It is based on literature and bibliographic studies. A descriptive method was applied which is one of the induction methods. Motivating employees of sports organizations consists in inducing behavior committed to achieving the goals of the company with stimuli that will satisfy their needs. The efficacy of motivation systems in sports enterprises depends primarily on the competences of operational managers and human resource managers. They may use numerous varied tools to motivate their employees which may be classified as: material monetary, material non-monetary and nonmaterial. However, estimating efficacy of an individual instrument is a fundamental problem for development of organization. With the fast growing sports market, intensive professionalization of sports in Poland and a increasing number of the offered sports products, the importance of human resources will be growing; the competitive position of companies in the global sports market will be subject to their motivating skills

Opis:
Introduction/background: The issue of employee motivation in project teams is one of the key challenges that arise in the project management process, as the success of a project largely depends on the level of employee engagement. Creating an effective incentive system that increases the level of employee commitment to projects every day is key to the success of the company. However, this is not an easy process, as the recipe for the right motivation methods that employees would be fully satisfied with does not exist. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper was to identify and evaluate the incentive system in project management carried out on the example of a selected multinational manufacturing company producing industrial automation. Materials and methods: The research tool was a survey questionnaire consisting of six metric questions to clarify the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents and fifteen closed questions relating to the incentive system of the company under study. The subject of the study was one of the world's largest automation and industrial IT companies. Results and conclusions: The results of the study made it possible to assess the effectiveness of the incentive system in the studied enterprise, to indicate the range of tools that managers can use to motivate members of project teams and to formulate recommendations or recommendations for the studied enterprise.

Opis:
The purpose of the paper is to present the Patent Box, a tax instrument for creating innovative potential which is becoming increasingly popular in EU economies, and to analyze what impact a Patent Box can have on the level of innovation of a country’s economy. To achieve this objective, two research methods are used: critical analysis of the literature and quantitative research. The literature studies involved presenting the operation mechanism of Patent Boxes and justifying (based on the theory of economics) the usage of such instruments in creating the innovation potential of an economy. The quantitative research consisted in analyzing the relationship between Patent Box instruments possessed by individual EU countries within their tax systems in the years 2011–2015 and the level of innovation in these countries expressed as outcome indicators based on the number of patents. The conducted analysis allowed the author to validate the hypothesis that the Patent Box has an effect on the level of innovation in EU countries. In Polish scientific literature there are relatively few publications addressing the issue of the operating mechanisms of the Patent Box or the economic effects resulting from the application of this kind of innovative tax policy tool. Considering the importance of innovation in making economic growth processes more dynamic, there is a need to undertake further research in this scope. The conducted research facilitates exploration of both the theoretical and empirical knowledge of the issue. Its conclusions might also prove useful in the scientific debate concerning the support provided by the state to the private sector in Poland in their efforts to embark on innovative activities.

Models of the relationship between employees and employers presented during the undergraduate and graduate studies of economics usually reflect the formal neoclassical approach. Moreover, in everyday life as well as in the public debate those relations are often presented as conflicts in which only one party may win. Such an oversimplified approach to the labor market relationships does not correspond with reality and may affect people's decisions, treating the second party as an enemy. The article presents the multistage educational experiment (18 rounds), in which students play the roles of employers and employees. Their outcomes depend on the declared involvement, their remuneration, and the level of social trust. Results of the experiment reveal that all these factors depend heavily on students' openness to communicate with other players as well as the employer-employee matching. Participation in the experiment allows students to experience that even conflict-provoking labor market relationships do not have to go along with strong disputes and radical opportunism. Learning how to cooperate in the labor market could not only be economically profitable, but it can also help to build social capital, which is even more crucial.

In this paper an incentive model to improve the collaboration in peer-to-peer networks is introduced. The proposed solution uses an incentives model associated with reputation issues as a way to improve the performance of a P2P system. The reputation of the all peers in the system is based on their donated resources and on their behavior. Supplying peers use these rules as a way to assign its outgoing bandwidth to the requesting peers during a content distribution. Each peer can build its best paths by using a best-neighbor policy within its neighborhood. A peer can use its best paths to obtain best services related to content search or download. The obtained results show that proposed scheme insulates the misbehaving peers and reduces the free-riding so that the systems performance is maximized.

The purpose of the article/hypothesis: This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the theoretical and empirical literature regarding tax-induced earnings management. In particular, the association between anticipated tax changes and earnings management is of interest to the authors. Methodology: This paper uses a systematic literature review to achieve its research objectives. Results of the research: The presented research is mostly devoted to tax rate decreases and focuses on accrual-based earnings management methods. In anticipation of a tax rate change, companies shift their income from a high to a low tax rate period. Moreover, the probability of tax-induced earnings management is higher in case of extreme changes in the tax rate, larger prospects for tax savings as well as in case of private firms. This paper identifies several inconsistencies and gaps in the current literature, emphasizing that the connection between firms’ characteristics, the level of book-tax conformity and the practice of earnings management remains unclear.

Opis:
On October 1st 2020, a new institution was introduced to the Act on the Police – the incentive benefit. It is intended by the legislature to keep officers with at least 25 years active service. Awarding this benefit depends on the period of service held by the officer. The regulation relating to the incentive benefit also provides for a number of negative premises, the materialization of which results in the refusal to grant the benefit. This article is entirely devoted to the issue related to the refusal to grant an incentive benefit in the cause of initiating criminal proceedings against a Police officer. It was therefore necessary to indicate at what point the stage of criminal proceedings changes from in rem to ad personam, because this results in initiating them against a specific person. The change in the stage of criminal proceedings depends on the offence it concerns. If it is a public prosecution offense, the change takes place in connection with the presentation of charges to the specific person. However, in the context of Art. 120a (7) (2) Act on the Police, the initiation of criminal proceedings against a specific person should be equated with the very fact of drawing up a decision on the presentation of charges. However, it is different in the situation specified in Art. 55 § 1 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, or in proceedings in cases prosecuted by private prosecution. The mere submitting of a subsidiary indictment, private indictment or complaint results in the initiation of proceedings against a specific person, provided that they have been submitted effectively. It was also emphasized that the administrative authority is bound by decisions undertaken in the criminal proceedings and cannot make any independent determinations in this regard, as it cannot interfere with the competences reserved to another entity.
