Opis:
Kant is not generally recognised to be an Aristotelian hylomorphic Philosopher because of his extension of logic into Philosophical Psychology in the form of Transcendental Logic. This extension is a natural articulation of hylomorphic metaphysics. Aristotle’s 4 kinds of change, 3 principles, and 4 “causes” are all transformed into the Kantian system of categories of judgement and also transposed into the faculties of sensibility, understanding, and reason. The principles of noncontradiction and sufficient reason obviously have origins in Aristotelian logic and Metaphysics. Freud claims that he is writing the Psychology that Kant would have written had he written subsequent to the “divorce” between Philosophy and Psychology in 1870 but it is clear that Freud too must be considered a hylomorphic Psychologist. This latter claim must be true if it is the case that Kant can be regarded, a hylomorphic Philosopher. Freud regards Consciousness and psychological residues (rituals) that we find in institutions as vicissitudes of Instinct. Instinct is here of course a philosophical concept possessing an aim, an object, a bodily source and a demand for motor activity. Early vicissitudes of instincts are narcissistically based and give rise the genesis of a strong ego under favourable circumstances. Freudian theory correctly interpreted ought to give rise to ethical theory of the type we find in Kant. This is a requirement for theories that we find in the arena of transcendental psychology.

THE ARTS
HERMENEUTICS
COMPENSATIVE FUNCTION OF A HUMAN SCIENCE
Opis:
By the function of the arts, I understand the role that is ascribed to disciplinary organized knowledge in domain of the humanities, the role which they play in the making of diagnosis of the culture in statu nascendi. And by the aim of the arts, I understand the growth of knowledge about objectivized, publicly available phenomena of culture. So we can ask: what a difference in our cultural milieu is generated by the growth of knowledge about cultural phenomena? What aims are satisfied by self-knowledge, and what kind of subjectivity is built on imperative of self-knowledge? There is no better way of emphasizing the connection between functions and aims of the arts as to emphasize historicity of culture and historicity of its interpretation. Herbert Rosendorfer in The Architect of Ruins provided an excellent portrait of this doubled historicity. In the parable of merchant, who makes an attempt at selling the collection of sculptures, he has showed how our culture is desynchronized in its modes of temporal organization. The common elements of culture are inherited in manifold, complex, non-monotonous and frangible sequences of times, which are never synchronized. There is no single temporal arrangement of a culture, and everybody who wants to recover original harmony is confronted with confusions. In the arts, there are two main strategies to cope with this situation. First, hermeneutical strategy, consists in combining the aim and function of the arts in a way, in which compensative function of the arts is bound with the aim of self-cognition, whereas the second, “archaeological” one (in the Foucauldian meaning), in opposition to hermeneutics, postulates disfamiliarization of culture as a means of preserving the aims of the arts consisting in objectivity of knowledge.

The main goal of the study is to show the novelty of Cabanis’s project. As a scientist, doctor and philosopher, the author of Rapports du physique et du moral de l’homme attempts to find a new science called anthropology, based mostly on physiology. There is also a discussion of how sensations are transformed (“translated”) into signs and ideas. In his dream of progress of human society, Cabanis has to navigate between the organic conception of the human being and vitalism, which can be seen as a critical approach to any scientific reductionism.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The main consideration of this analysis is tightly connected with the theoretical and methodological achievements of one of the leading representatives of phenomenological pedagogy in the world; professor emeritus of University of Alberta, Max van Manen. The aim is to show the importance of narrative research as one of the ways of protecting the normative dimension in research reflection and action. THE RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND METHODS: The main research problem is related with the place of narrativity and anegdote in his concept of phenomenology of practice as a way of care for and development of humanistic dimension in the pedagogical research. The reflection process was conducted on the basis of an content analysis fundamental for the most important monographs and articles of Max van Manena in the field. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The process of argumentation was divided into two parts. The main part of the analysis is divided into two parts. The first concerns the understanding of narration as a form of reflection and moral action, the second section focuses on the role of anecdotes as a tool for narrative research. RESEARCH RESULTS: The results of the analysis show the methodological value and the ethical importance of narrative research in the inquiry for finding answers to the question of what knowledge we really need as a person and as a community. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: One of the most important conclusions and postulates is the consideration and search for ways of accessing what Max van Manen calls pathic knowledge in pedagogical research.

Opis:
The article presents the size, structure and use of Human Resources for Science and Technology (HRST) in Poland as one of key element of modern and competitive knowledge-based economy. Knowledge is inseparably combined with people. The possibilities of its creation, using and diffusion are supported by the development of innovative sectors, that can absorb high-qualified human capital. Thus, referring to two dimensions defining Human Resources in Science and Technology (skills and occupation), particular attention has been focused on the so-called Core of Human Resources for Science and Technology (HRSTC). Considering the aforementioned conditions, the goal of the paper is to present spatial diversity of Human Resources for Science and Technology (HRST) in Poland in 2004-2015, with the special emphasis to HRSTC.

Parasites show a great potential to Forensic Science. Forensic Science is the application of any science and methodology to the legal system. The forensic scientist collects and analyses the physical evidence and produce a report of the results to the court. A parasite is an organism that lives at the expense of another and they exist in any ecosystem. Parasites are the cause of many important diseases. The forensic scientists can use the parasites to identify a crime scene, to determine the murder weapon or simply identify an individual. The applications for parasites in the Forensic Science can be many and more studies should be made in Forensic Parasitology. The most important parasites in Forensic Science are helminths specifically schistosomes. Through history there are many cases where schistosomes were described in autopsies and it was related to the cause of death. Here we review the applications of parasites in Forensic Science and its importance to the forensic scientist.

Złożona natura człowieka, pogłębiające się nierówności społeczne, zaniechania i zaniedbania wychowawcze, fałszywe koncepcje psychologiczne i pedagogiczne, kryzys autorytetów moralnych i relatywizm wartości, sprzyjają eskalacji przemocy wwielu dziedzinach ludzkiej aktywności. Czy jesteśmy w stanie odwrócić niekorzystne trendy w kulturze – skutecznie ograniczać skalę różnych form przemocy we wzajemnych kontaktach? Kto mógłby to uczynić? I w jaki sposób? Czy „wychowanie mimo wszystko” nadal ma sens? Pytania te stawiają dzisiaj przedstawiciele wielu nauk – filozofowie, psycholodzy, pedagodzy. Niektórzy próbują też na nie odpowiadać i sugero- wać wybór właściwej drogi postępowania – powrót do starych koncepcji.
Violence is a phenomenon accompaning the developement of the civilization since its very beginning. In XX and XXI century the world was hit by a surge of violence, which had not been experienced in this great dimension ever before in the history of mankind. The complexity of human personality, increasing social inequality, eductional neglection and omissions, wrong psychological and pedagogical approaches, the crisis of moral authorities and relativity of values foster the escalation of violence in diverse sectors of hu¬man activities. Are we still able to turn back the adverse trends in our culture – put efficient limits to the actual extend of different forms of violence in our mutual relationships? Who is able to do that? And in which way? Is „notwithstanding upbringing“ still making sense? These questions are nowdays asked by representatives of many different fields of science – philosophers, psychologists, pedagogues. Some of them try to give an answer and suggest the choice of the right way of acting – which would be return to old proved concepts.

The second part of this paper based on personalism demonstrates that science can harmoniously develop only in the climate of internal-moral freedom of scientist. The purpose of science is revelation of truth, but effects of scientific investigations – in particular of biological-medical sciences – influence on the life of human individuals and societies. Conscious and free activity of man has ethical character, therefore liberty of science ought to be responsible liberty and then to be subordinated the ethical criterions. Science cannot ignore values and rules moral. The third part of paper stated that good of human person and common good of society demand juridical limitations of scientific inquiries’ liberty. Liberty is man’s right but also its obligation to respect of human person’s fundamental rights – including right to life, integrality and dignity. Therefore internal-ethical and external-juridical limitations are necessary of scientist’s liberty.

Cognitive engineering is considered nowadays as interesting multidisciplinary domain that focuses on improving the relations between humans and the systems that are supervised and operated. The industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in hazardous plants are increasingly computerized and perform various safety functions. These are designed and implemented according to the functional safety concept. The objective is to maintain high performance / productivity and reduce various risks related to identified hazards and threats. An approach is proposed to apply selected cognitive engineering methods for verifying the design of the functional safety technology implemented in given hazardous plant in context of defined safety functions, operator interfaces, communication means and procedures. The methodology developed might be applied for functional safety management in life cycle of industrial hazardous plants and oil port terminals.

Opis:
The possible future of mankind features prominently among SF topics. Despite a long record of failures, like unsuccessful grappling with the scourge of war, present day humanity has come a long way to assume a degree of unity it has never enjoyed before. The process of globalization has its anti-globalist opponents, but its idealistic aim is a better world without racial, social, economic and in some areas even national barriers separating people. This picture of multiracial, multicultural but otherwise ontologically uniform humanity amounts to a vision of a sentient species that is close to achieving its mature form. However, what may look like the final stop of our journey is treated by both the advocates (e.g. Ray Kurzweil) and critics (e.g. Fukuyama) of humanity’s trans/posthuman development as the beginning of a new stage of our existence. A question arises if the new paths of evolution involve a danger that humans will fall victim to a policy of metaphysical laissez faire that will put the race’s unity and continuity in jeopardy. Will the old walls of racial prejudice and social inequality between people that we have striven to break down be replaced by new ones? The objective of this paper is to use Bruce Sterling’s Shaper/Mechanist universe as a literary illustration of the new barriers that the prospective trans/posthumanity may have to face and seek to surmount or leave behind.

The subject of the paper is the status and relationships of geography, especially human geography, with the social sciences on the background of the evolution of science from multidisciplinary to transdisciplinary. Progressive hybridization of disciplines and specialties upset the identity of geography in modern science, but geography (human geography), as she was, so it is hardly accepted as a social science among scientists. An important role is played by the traditional assignment of the entire geography to natural sciences and greater isolation of human geography in flows of knowledge within the social sciences. The article presents the specificities of the social sciences in the classification of the sciences, the impact of social sciences on past development of geography and contemporary impact of geography on spatial turn in the social sciences.

Security is perceived by various groups of theorists and practitioners in different ways, and at the turn of the 20th and 21st century, security theory research gained momentum. The concept of security has become important not only in the social, natural or technical sciences, but also in social life, in international relations, and in many research programmes and applications. The term security has systematically expanded as a result of civilization progress to include hitherto unknown challenges and threats and new means and ways of eliminating them. In the past, security was based mainly on the preservation of the military capacity to defend the vital interests of a given social group. The multitude of definitions of security has led to the creation of a separate field of study in the literature, known as securitology. It represents an individual field of human-centred research and assumes that all actions of the human individual are directed towards maintaining security. Security is a separate field of research focusing on the human being and assumming that all actions of the human individual are directed towards ensuring a sense of security. The issue is multifaceted, and the discipline indicated is new, and has only begun to be of interest since 2010.
