Higher education institutions (HEIs) play a significant role in modern economies, and it is worthwhile to analyze the factors that affect their effectiveness. To our knowledge, few studies have focused on the attitudes of students in Poland to their work environment. The purpose of this paper is to present differences in the perception of current and desired organizational culture in public and non-public HEIs in Poland from the perspective of students. A synthetic review of the literature on organizational culture at HEIs was conducted and presented. Research in the form of a survey based on Cameron and Quinn’s model was conducted in two public and two non-public HEIs in Poland. A sample of opinions of 402 students was gathered and analyzed. According to students from public and non-public schools alike the present culture was clan culture. Both groups also pointed at clan culture as the desired one, with adhocracy culture following closely. The findings may be useful for higher education decision makers in their attempts to create an effective working environment at HEIs. A further, more comprehensive research into the subject will be worth conducting.

This study explores the challenges and prospects of implementing the Third Mission (TM) of Ukrainian higher education institutions (HEIs) amidst the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Utilising a qualitative research approach, data were collected from eight Ukrainian HEIs participating in the Erasmus+ project “Community Universities: Strengthening Cooperation”. Findings reveal a lack of legislative clarity regarding TM, hindering its uniform implementation across institutions. Despite this, Ukrainian universities strongly commit to community engagement, with collaborative efforts to address societal needs. The study highlights the urgent need for legislative strengthening of TM and enhanced collaboration with communities to bolster the resilience of HEIs in conflict-affected contexts.

This aim of this article is to examine several entrepreneurial education innovations (competency-based education as a disruptive innovation model and pedagogy in the HEIs) using a comprehensive systematic literature review (SLR). It is accepted practise to undertake systematic literature reviews when implementing evidence-based policy. This article discusses the ways higher education has evolved in teaching leading to innovative scholarships that unsettle established institutional structures and academic practices. Particularly, within the African context as entrepreneurship is gaining increasing mention as a discipline at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) given the potential employment and GDP contribution benefits. The findings support the conclusion that the move towards this high-quality, personalised approach, the focus is not only on the level of competency achieved by the student but also on validating the learning experience.

The relevance of the survey is due to the need to understand the role of the manager of a higher education institution in conditions of uncertainty against the background of socio-economic crises, when the organizational culture of the management of an educational institution is being formed. Large-scale transformations in all spheres of life are outlined, which drive the economy, science, culture, education, industry and lead to the development of innovative approaches to the formation of organizational culture, based on the need to use professionalism and deeper experience of professional managers of higher education institutions. The article highlights the essence and conceptual and terminological apparatus of the researched topic. The content of the concepts “organizational culture” and “innovative management” is considered. The article highlights the issues of organizational culture as a tool for increasing the competitiveness of the institution in the system of higher education. The essence of organizational culture in a higher education institution is considered and revealed. The relevance of the study of organizational culture is connected with the fact that knowledge of the characteristics of the organizational culture of a higher education institution will allow to assess the degree of its stability, predict possible directions of management decisions, and also contribute to the achievement of planned results. The article focuses on the fact that the success of a higher education institution is directly linked to its culture. After all, the main indicator of a good state of affairs in a higher education institution is the ability to attract and retain talented employees. The impact of organizational culture on various aspects of higher education institution activities, which are considered by a number of sciences, such as personnel management, economics and sociology of work, organization theory, strategic management, management psychology, management sociology, is singled out. In the article, it is determined that organizational culture in an educational institution is formed under the influence of management consulting. The essence of consulting activity in a higher education institution is considered and disclosed. The main functions of consulting in institutions of higher education, which contribute to the qualitative formation of organizational culture in the institution of higher education, are highlighted. Content aspects of the process of modeling organizational culture in a higher education institution are highlighted. Emphasis is placed on the components of the model based on the application of modern principles and innovations for the perspective development of the higher education system and assistance in providing higher education institutions with highly qualified personnel. An analysis of the theoretical foundations and classification identification of the design of consulting activities in a higher education institution as a tool for the formation of organizational culture is carried out. The difficulties and contradictions inherent in the formation of the organizational environment of a higher education institution are considered.

A meaningful and relevant “Excellence in Education Spaces” is imperative so that future generations can address societal risks. This inevitably requires education to integrate strategies to transform the current approaches and build on sustainability strategies. Education for sustainable development (ESD), considered a pivotal vehicle, is, nevertheless, relegated to science and environmental-related courses at most schools and universities. ESD is treated as one off-topic for discussion, creating an information deficit, implying that a few future leaders get knowledge about sustainability. The practices and attitudes about sustainable development goals (SDGs) are not universal, failing to achieve equitable SDGs. A few purposive studies from engineering were analysed to confirm that the ESD must be mainstreamed in education, allowing future generation delegates to build knowledge capital at the individual and institutional levels, equip future practitioners and decision-makers with strategic capabilities to resolve unforeseeable problems, drive societal transformation, and impact climate change, honouring SDGs

The article is dedicated to the research of soft skills structural units and their formation of future social workers, as well as the issue of their professional growth and development. Professional skills consist of specific knowledge and abilities important for performing a particular job and that can be mostly identified, evaluated and measured. Until now, there was a perception that hard or functional-technical skills were the only skills needed for career growth and development. However, a study carried out at Harvard University shows that 80% of career achievements are determined by soft (social and communication) skills and only 20% by functional and technical skills. Since the labor market currently requires diverse professionals, higher education institutions face new challenges. One of these challenges is to create pedagogical conditions for the development of soft skills, including those of future social workers. The professional competence of a social worker involves three groups of skills, namely hard skills, soft skills and meta skills. We suppose that the mechanism of their formation in the conditions of professional training should be focused on the development of all components of soft skills, and their development provides the necessary professional qualities, the implementation of abilities, and the realization of values in social work. In accordance with the characteristics of future social workers in the development of «soft skills», its characteristic features and peculiarities are clarified, including: creating an informal environment for the formation of social leadership in higher educational institutions; filling the educational program with options for «soft skills», activities aimed at increasing the practice-oriented training of future specialists, the use of active and interactive techniques, forms, methods and means of developing the «soft skills» of social workers. The results of the study include the definition of the concept of «soft skills», the identification of their general characteristics, the outlining of groups of soft skills, and the description of their main components. It was found that the most in-demand flexible competencies are: teamwork, critical thinking, leadership, creativity, meeting deadlines, responsibility and discipline, as well as communication skills, emotional stability, ability to work in stressful situations, adaptability to a new team or working conditions, conflict resolution, critical and creative thinking, public speaking skills, reliability, flexibility, responsibility, priority setting, planning, adequate perception of criticism and readiness for improvement, and professional etiquette proficiency.

The article reports the results of a study conducted in the form of structured interviews. The goal of the study was to find out about the nature of this institution, the objectives of academic ombudsmen, the cases they deal with, their role in the academic community, in particular their role in resolving disputes at universities, and the type of methods they apply in their work. The institution of an academic ombudsman is considered to use an ADR method which is more appropriate in resolving problems and conflicts that appear at the universities, in comparison with formal procedures. The academic ombudsman takes into account important elements of the mission of universities which include respect for the other party, diversity, tolerance, and application of more inclusive and democratic methods in university governance. The introduction of ombudsman institutions at the universities is Poland is dictated not only by the necessity for more effective management and dispute resolution, but also shows a change in the attitude of the university administration towards the academic community. The need for research into the function of academic ombudsman arises from the relatively dynamic growth in the last three years in the number of academic ombudsmen as well as other institutions with similar names and goals. The emergence and significant increase in number of these institutions in the last few years at the universities in Poland raises the question of their nature and role at the universities.

The article considers the issue of virtual international academic mobility as one of the priority areas of international activities of higher education institutions. It is substantiated that the intensive development of information and communication technologies (knowledge mobility) and informatisation of public life led to the spread and use of virtual educational environments and e-learning in higher education, which became the basis for the development of virtual academic mobility of students. The purpose of the study is to study the existing approaches and practices of academic mobility, including virtual, to determine the main benefits and opportunities for disseminating this experience at all levels of higher education in Ukraine. The research methodology consists of general theoretical and empirical research methods. A review of modern scientific literature, periodicals, and scientific and methodological sources on the problem of academic mobility and the digitalisation of higher education is made. Their analysis, structuring, interpretation and construction of logical conclusions are highlighted. The article considers the content of the main scientific approaches to the definition of “academic mobility”. The characteristic of academic mobility in the conditions of digitalisation of higher education is given. Varieties of academic mobility in modern conditions of digitalisation of higher education (physical, virtual, mixed) are considered. The subjects of virtual academic mobility (virtual student, virtual teacher, virtual university, virtual campus) are outlined. The main advantages and disadvantages of such virtual academic mobility of students are identified. The main methodological recommendations of European funds and associations are analysed, based on which the project preparation plan for any virtual mobility type is developed. It is proposed to carry out additional measures that ensure the quantitative growth of academic (virtual) mobility and improve its quality. The necessity of searching for new forms of remote exchanges, analysis of the experience of foreign associations and their adaptation according to the realities of the system of higher education in Ukraine is substantiated: the active involvement of the student’s audience in programmes of virtual cooperation; increasing the necessary competencies of the administrative and teaching staff of higher education institutions, which allow implementing such virtual projects using innovative information technology tools; preparation of the regulatory framework that enshrines the right to implement virtual academic mobility along with the full-time form and recognition of its results by recalculating educational loans.

This article is devoted to innovative learning technology, namely web quest, an effective learning tool that promotes the cognitive activity of applicants for higher medical educational institutions, focused on today’s challenges related to forming an independent, creative, competent personality. The main attention is paid to using quests in studying chemical disciplines in distance learning. The purpose of the study is to identify the main aspects of web quests’ effectiveness in the training of future medical professionals, revealing the main stages of the organisation. Specific examples of quests are also given from my own practical experience. An analysis of recent publications on this issue was carried out, and as a result, we argue that scientific sources do not sufficiently cover tuse of web quests in the study of chemical disciplines in higher medical education institutions, which is the impetus for the study. The article presents the stages of organising quests for students in the discipline “Medical Chemistry”, which include both the actual creation of a blog (initial, thematic, address, final), as well as the choice of topic, goals, tasks, division of responsibilities between participants and publication of results during distance learning (online conferences, videos, projects, booklets, commercials, prevention essays). It is presented an analysis of a survey of teachers and students on the effectiveness of the introduction of this technology in the training of future medical professionals. The analysis of the results shows that web quests meet modern requirements for implementing the educational process in medical and educational institutions and contribute to acquiring professional competence. Teachers and students who participated in the survey noted that web quests are an effective modern technology that promotes motivation, interest in the subject and chosen profession, and the formation of key competencies that must have a modern medical professional to be competitive. Specific examples of involving students in web quests on the subject of “Medical Chemistry” during research activities in the scientific section of Cherkasy Medical Academy.

An analysis of literature shows that higher education institutions can actively influence the development of students' cultural intelligence (CQ) and thus express their social responsibility. The article's main aim is to diagnose the level of cultural intelligence among students of public economics universities in Poland and to determine the relationship between CQ and factors such as field of study, degree, and gender. This article was developed using research methods such as literature analysis, organizational documentation analysis, participant observation, and a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) survey. The respondents were second-year full-time students, both bachelor and master’s degree, of two majors: Management and International Economic Relations (in Polish Międzynarodowe Stosunki Gospodarcze – MSG for short). The study shows that the cultural intelligence of students of public economics universities in Poland is relatively high. No influence of gender on CQ was determined. Contrary to assumptions, it was not observed that MSG studies influence students' CQ development. The correlation between the degree of reflection and the level of cultural intelligence differs depending on the field of study. At each of the three universities studied, no significant differences were found in the overall level of cultural intelligence between students of the two studied majors.

Purpose: This article addresses selected aspects of internationalization of higher education (HE) in Poland in the context of demographic changes. The purpose of it is to analyze the dynamics of the number of foreign students studying at Polish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and their structure by type of HEI, field of study and origin. Design/methodology/approach: A review of the literature on the subject and desk research with reference to data from the Statistics Poland were used. The analysis, covered the years 2004-2020, was based on selected methods of descriptive statistics. Findings: Between 2004 and 2020, the number of foreign students increased almost 10-fold. The average growth rate in the analyzed time series was 15.2% for the group of HEIs and 21.5% for non-public HEIs. The choices of foreign students most often group fields of study in the areas of social sciences, economy and medicine. There has been an increase in interest in studies in technology and services, while there has been a marked decline in fields of study related to the humanities and education. Research limitations/implications: The demographic perspective adds a new dimension to the issues of growth and development of HEIs, that is why this issue involves further in-depth analysis. Practical implications: Despite the apparent positive change with regard to the number of student-foreigners studying at Polish HEIs, this statistic, compared to other European countries, is still unsatisfactory. In the face of projected further unfavorable demographic trends, countries with positive natural increase and younger age structures, become an opportunity to compensate for the loss of Polish students. Efforts by the entire HE sector are needed to seize these opportunities. It is necessary to further correlate sectoral policies - HE with population, foreign and social policies. HEIs should improve processes related to caring for the broader relationship with foreign students. Originality/value: The paper is addressed to all interested in HE policy. The study should be seen as a contribution to the existing discussion in the issue of growth and development of HEIs.

Polish universities have undergone huge changes over the last 30 years. Traditional academic education in Alma Mater was supplemented by distance learning. However, the strategy for the development of education has never indicated the replacement of face-to-face activities with those online. As it turned out, the environment forced universities to completely change the paradigm of academic education based on mutual contact, exchange of views, or direct discussion. In March 2020, universities moved their activities to the Internet. The article aims to identify the challenges faced by Polish universities in the period of limiting the functioning of universities to counteract the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The article is empirical — it presents a case study describing the results of an experiment in which students of the University of Silesia in Katowice participated in human resource management. The author will present the survey and observations results regarding e-learning education during the pandemic, assessed in the context of the redefinition of a marketing service product. The main research problem revolved around finding an answer to the question: What are the reactions to distance learning among students?
Polskie uczelnie przeszły na przestrzeni ostatnich 30 lat ogromne zmiany. Tradycyjne kształcenie akademickie Alma Mater uzupełniano kształceniem zdalnym. Jednak strategia rozwoju szkolnictwa nigdy nie wskazywała na zastąpienie zajęć stacjonarnych tymi w sieci. Jak się okazało, otoczenie wymusiło na uczelniach zupełną zmianę paradygmatu kształcenia akademickiego, opartego na wzajemnym kontakcie, wymianie poglądów czy bezpośredniej dyskusji. W marcu 2020 r. uczelnie przeniosły swoją działalność do sieci internetowej. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja wyzwań, przed którymi stanęły polskie uczelnie w okresie ograniczenia funkcjonowania uniwersytetów w celu przeciwdziałania rozpowszechnianiu się wirusa SARS-CoV-2. Artykuł ma charakter empiryczny — prezentuje studium przypadku opisujące rezultaty eksperymentu, w którym wzięli udział studenci Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach na kierunku zarządzanie zasobami ludzkimi. Autorka prezentuje rezultaty ankietyzacji oraz obserwacji dotyczącej kształcenia e-learningowego w okresie pandemii, ocenianego w kontekście redefinicji marketingowego produktu usługowego. Główny problem badawczy koncentrował się wokół znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie: Jakie reakcje wywołało kształcenie na odległość wśród studentów?

Entrepreneurship has become a critical competency in the 21st century. Higher education (HE) institutions, aware of the need to answer market needs, have started several initiatives to develop entrepreneurial education. However, the concept of social entrepreneurship does not seem to be widely known among graduates. The aim of the article is an attempt to assess entrepreneurial competencies and knowledge in the field of social entrepreneurship. The authors have focused on the teaching of social entrepreneurship, an undervalued element of entrepreneurial education in HE institutions. For that purpose, a case study of a course introduced at the academic level was used, which allowed answering the following questions: Is social entrepreneurship known among students as a possibility for entrepreneurial development? How do they assess a course in social entrepreneurship regarding its usefulness and ability to develop competencies? The study shows that social entrepreneurship seems to be a form that is not well recognised, which means that students do not even have the chance to know the whole entrepreneurship picture. Researwch has shown students’ positive approach to a course devoted to social entrepreneurship and its potential to develop the knowledge and skills to run one’s venture in the future. The results are a part of a broader trend related to the need for social entrepreneurship in HE institutions.

A characteristic feature of modern society is the changes in all spheres of life, which today drive the economy, science, culture, education, industry and determine the development of consulting. The sphere of consulting activities in the education system of Ukraine has expanded from vocational training to solving problems in the management of educational institutions, labor relations, service in public authorities, social security and more. The article highlights the specifics of consulting and highlights the features of providing consumers with consulting services. The essence of the advisory function is revealed, which is based on providing assistance to education managers, analysis, development, provision and monitoring of the effectiveness of the implementation of the requested positions. The necessity and peculiarities of providing consulting services in the field of education are widely covered and substantiated. The main features of consulting in higher education institutions are highlighted in the article. The directions of cooperation between consulting campaigns and educational institutions are described. An important place in this process belongs to the conduct of various studies for the needs of the education sector. Emphasis is placed on the legal support of educational activities, scientific and methodological support of the educational process and management consulting. An important place today is devoted to reforming the education system, focusing on ensuring the quality of higher education to the demands of modern society and the needs of the country’s development. In this process, consulting services in the field of quality assessment of higher education play a crucial role. Large-scale transformations in all spheres of human life enable educational institutions to effectively adapt to the changing external environment using consulting services in the field of higher education, based on the need to use the professionalism and deeper experience of professional consulting organizations.
Характерною ознакою сучасного суспільства є зміни в усіх сферах життя, які сьогодні рухають економіку, науку, культуру, освіту, промисловість та зумовлюють розвиток консалтингу. Стрімке зростання консультаційних послуг зумовлює розвиток консультаційної діяльності та передує значним втратам спричиненими через допущення помилок керівниками при управлінській діяльності тощо. Сфера консалтингової діяльності в системі освіти України розширилась від професійного навчання до вирішення проблем в управлінні закладом освіти, у трудових відносинах, службі в органах державної влади, соціальному забезпеченню тощо. У статті висвітлено специфіку консалтингу та виокремлено особливості надання споживачам консалтингових послуг. Стрімке зростання кількості консалтингових організацій висуває особливі вимоги до якості надання послуг та зростання попиту освітньої сфери. Розкрито суть консультаційної функції, яка ґрунтується в наданні допомоги менеджерам освіти, аналізі, розробці, наданні та моніторингу ефективності реалізації запитуваних позицій. Широко висвітлено й обгрунтовано необхідність та особливості надання консалтингових послуг в галузі освіти. У статті виокремлено основні функції консалтингу в закладах вищої освіти. Охарактеризовано напрями співпраці консалтингових кампаній та закладів освіти. Важливе місце в цьому процесі належить проведенню різноманітних досліджень для потреб освітньої галузі. Наголошено на правовому забезпеченні освітньої діяльності, науково-методичному супроводі освітнього процесу та управлінського консалтингу. Зокрема зазначено, що співпраця у сфері управління персоналом та проведення процедури незалежного експерного дослідження оцінювання якості освіти є перспективними напрямками співпраці консалтингових організацій та закладів вищої освіти. Важливе місце сьогодення присвячено реформуванню системи освіти, орієнтації на забезпечення відповідності якості вищої освіти запитам сучасного суспільства й потребам розвитку країни. У данному процесі вирішальну роль відіграють консалтингові послуги у сфері оцінювання якості вищої освіти. Маштабні перетворення у всіх сферах людського життя надають можливість закладам освіти ефективно пристосовуватись до змінного зовнішнього середовища використовуючи консалтингові послуги в галузі вищої освіти, грунтуючись на необхідністі використання професоналізму та більш глибокого досвіду працівників-професіоналів консалтингових організацій.

Opis:
The article is devoted to a new approach to the problem of rethinking the concept of development of the higher education system against the background of socioeconomic transformations in the country. A new look at the processes of transformation involves an innovative approach to the system of physical education: improving curricula. This approach is based on the introduction of new modern technologies in the educational process, as methods and techniques proposed by teachers of the Department of Physical Education. At the stage of reforming the higher education system, the requirements for the level of training of young professionals are growing: both literate and harmoniously developed and physically healthy specialists are needed, and the competencies gained as a result of training will contribute to functional professional tasks. The main tasks of legal institutions of higher education can be called the education of the individual, the formation and development of a young specialist who, having received professional knowledge, is ready to effectively implement them in accordance with the needs of modern society (Barsukova, Antipova, 2021). The discipline „Physical Education” at the National University „Odessa Law Academy” among other humanities disciplines forms the competencies of the profile aimed at studying the general laws of preserving and strengthening the health of the applicant, the formation of a harmoniously developed personality of young professionals (Golovchenko, 2001). In order to implement the main objectives of the discipline, the educational program for the preparation of applicants for higher education with a bachelor’s degree was revised. The existing curriculum in physical education is analyzed and evaluated.On the basis of the received data the correction of the maintenance of employment on physical training with the substantiation of introduction in educational process of the changes given by teachers is offered. The program is developed on the basis of laws and principles of physical education, legal documents that determine the order of higher education institutions and includes theoretical and practical teaching material. This program, according to the concept of development, is tailored to the wishes of applicants and has three main sections: Sports Games, Health Fitness, Rehabilitation Groups, each of which solves the main task of learning – physical development and rehabilitation of higher education. In this article we explore one of the most effective forms of motor activity of applicants – sports games. We have used sports games as a tool that promotes the quality of theoretical and practical skills of health, which provides students with successful mastery of professional knowledge (Krucevic, 2008).
Стаття присвячена новому підходу до проблеми переосмислення концепції розвитку системи вищої освіти на тлі соціально-економічних перетворень у країні. Новий погляд на процеси перетворення передбачає інноваційний підхід до системи фізичного виховання: удосконалення навчальних програм. Такий підхід ґрунтується на впровадженні у навчальний процес нових сучасних технологій; методів, запропонованих викладачами кафедри фізичного виховання. На етапі реформування системи вищої освіти зростають вимоги до рівня підготовки молодих фахівців: потрібні як грамотні, так і гармонійно розвинені та фізично здорові фахівці, отримані в результаті навчання компетенції сприятимуть виконанню функціональних професійних завдань. Головними завданнями юридичних установ вищої освіти можна назвати виховання особистості, формування та розвиток молодого спеціаліста, який, отримавши професійні знання, готовий ефективно реалізувати їх відповідно до потреб сучасного суспільства (Барсукова, Антіпова, 2021). Навчальна дисципліна «Фізичне виховання» у Національному університеті «Одеська юридична академія» серед інших гуманітарних дисциплін формує компетентності профілю, спрямовані на вивчення загальних закономірностей збереження та зміцнення здоров’я здобувача, формування гармонійно розвиненої особистості молодого спеціаліста (Головченко, 2001). З метою реалізації основних завдань дисципліни було переглянуто освітню програму підготовки здобувачів вищої освіти ступеня бакалавр. Проаналізовано та дано оцінку наявної навчальної програми з фізичного виховання. На підставі отриманих даних запропоновано корекцію змісту занять з фізичного виховання з обґрунтуванням впровадження у навчальний процес поданих викладачами змін. Програма розроблена на основі закономірностей та принципів фізичного виховання, нормативно-правових документів, що визначають порядок діяльності установ вищої освіти та включає теоретичний та практичний матеріал навчання. Ця програма, згідно з концепцією розвитку, складена з урахуванням побажань здобувачів та має три основні розділи: Спортивні ігри, Оздоровчий фітнес, Групи реабілітації, кожен з яких вирішує основне завдання навчання – фізичний розвиток та оздоровлення здобувачів вищої освіти. У статті ми досліджуємо одну з найдієвіших форм рухової активності здобувачів – спортивні ігри. Спортивні ігри ми застосували як засіб, що сприяє якісному засвоєнню теоретичних та практичних навичок здоров’я, що забезпечує здобувачам успішне оволодіння професійними знаннями (Круцевич, 2008).
