In the last years there is a growing discussion about importance of spirituality in the health care. Majority of research accepted potential healing influence of spirituality. But spirituality is still more unclear than clear concept. Purpose of this study was to compare selected spiritual variables (hope, meaning of life, spiritual experiences and spiritual wellbeing) in groups of healthy adults divided by gender, educational level and denomination. We examined relationship among age and spiritual variables, too. We found out no significant differences among men and women in spiritual variables. In depending on educational level we found out significant differences in spiritual well-being. Respondents with university education had significant lower level of spiritual well-being than respondents with secondary education. In accordance to denomination we found out significant differences in level of hope and spiritual well-being. Those who had different denomination as catholic or evangelical had the highest level of hope and those with any denomination had higher level of spiritual well-being than non-believers. Age had negative significant relationship only with spiritual well-being. On the one hand, our findings confirm that spirituality is a universal phenomenon that occurs in all people, whether recognized or not. On the other hand, confirm opinion of researchers who emphasize the particular personality and individuality of spirituality.

Opis:
No study has compared sling exercise training with elastic band resistance training in healthy older adults. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine whether different effects on functional mobility, strength and balance ability were produced by using different devices (sling trainer and elastic bands). Twenty-four participants were assigned to two different training groups, INT (TRX-OldAge) and CON (elastic bands). Participants trained three times per week for 30 minutes for 12 weeks. The Multisurface Obstacle Test for Older Adults (MSOT) and the 1-repetition maximum test using the chest press and the leg press were performed to assess functional mobility and dynamic strength, respectively. To examine balance ability, data of body-worn sensors and a force plate measured during different standing positions have been investigated. A main time effect occurred for functional mobility (p = 0.009) with a significant improvement within INT (p = 0.044), and for the chest press (p = 0.017) with a significant improvement within INT (p = 0.019). However, there was no group-by-time interaction in any of the measured parameters. Compared to elastic band resistance training, TRX-OldAge induced similar effects on the functional mobility, strength and balance ability of healthy older adults.

There is a gradual increase in the number of elderly people living in the world. Also, human aging is associated with a deterioration of cognitive processes, that touches multiple domains, including memory, attention, processing speed and cognitive control. For this reason, intervention programs that improve the intellectual functioning of older citizens became very popular. One of the broadly discussed approach aims to support the elderly’s functioning with the usage of cognitive trainings. Although, emerged training regimes are considered by some researchers to be effective, they are systematically criticized by others. Possible causes are due to a diversity of approaches to the training design itself, to the way it is applied, as well as to the training methodology. In terms of their utility, it is crucial to decide which interventions are effective, how strongly they affect behavior, and to what extent they actually transfer to everyday life of older participants. Especially the last attribute should be e  ential, considering participants’ well-being. Therefore, this article aims not only to systematize reports on improving the cognitive functioning of the elderly, but above all to draw attention to the increasingly perceptible problem of verification of the training effects of seniors. We would like to emphasize the need for implementation a stronger methodological unification of cognitive trainings, that allows a fair assessment of their impact on the quality of life of the participating seniors.
Na świecie stopniowo wzrasta liczba osób dożywających sędziwego wieku. Jednocześnie wraz z wiekiem ulega pogorszeniu szereg procesów poznawczych, takich jak: pamięć, uwaga, szybkość przetwarzania informacji czy kontrola poznawcza. Z tego względu bardzo popularne stały się programy usprawniające zdolności intelektualne tej grupy. Jednym z szeroko dyskutowanych podejść jest wspomaganie funkcjonowania osób starszych z wykorzystaniem treningów poznawczych. Powstałe reżimy treningowe są przez część badaczy uznawane za skuteczne, przez innych zaś systematycznie krytykowane. Obserwujemy heterogeniczność podejść zarówno do samego treningu, jak i do metodologii badań. Z punktu widzenia ich użyteczności kluczowe jest natomiast rozstrzygnięcie, jakiego rodzaju interwencje są najbardziej skuteczne, jak szeroki mają zasięg i w jakim stopniu przekładają się na realne korzyści dla trenujących. Profitem powinna być przede wszystkim poprawa jakości codziennego życia. Dlatego niniejszy artykuł ma na celu nie tylko systematyzac   doniesień z dziedziny usprawniania funkcjonowania poznawczego osób starszych, lecz przede wszystkim zwrócenie uwagi na coraz bardziej odczuwalny problem weryfikacji efektywności treningów poznawczych seniorów. Pragniemy podkreślić potrzebę wprowadzenia silniejszej unifikacji metodologicznej interwencji poznawczych w celu umożliwienia rzetelnej oceny ich wpływu na jakość życia badanych seniorów. Na podstawie dokonanego przeglądu przedstawiamy sugestie dotyczące metodologii treningów.

Purpose: It is still not clear which parameters of sound are the most significant for body reactions and whether the way of sound reception plays a role in body control. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of frequency, spectrum and loudness of sounds on posture control in healthy women and men. Methods: The study subjects were 29 young adults who were submitted to a 60-second standing test in the bipedal stance on the force platform (AMTI). During the tests, 3 sinusoidal sounds with various timing and 2 musical sounds (guitar and piano) of the frequency 225 Hz, 1000 Hz and 4000 Hz were applied through headphones. The centre of pressure (COP) amplitude was registered. The sway area and COP mean velocity were computed. Results: It was found that high frequency sounds contributed to a significant decrease of sway area values. No significant influence of low frequency sounds on posture control was observed. The influence of the sound spectrum (timbre) on posture control is limited; only the crescendo spectrum improves the body stability in the bipedal stance and not the music spectrum as guitar and piano. The loudness of sound, although extremely high, is not the cause of postural control changing in relation to lower loudness. No effect of gender was found in terms of body stability under different sound conditions. Conclusion. Based on the results, it can be argued that, in general, in a bipedal stance in terms of stability high sound frequency improves posture control, whereas sound spectrum and intensity show a limited impact.

Young adulthood is a critical period because it is the time when young people begin to live on their own, and adopt health behaviours which can influence their lifestyle and health status. In social practice there are many community belongings and community-ba-sed support systems and programs in health, which aim to increase young adults’ health literacy and offer learning possibilities and support services.The study focuses on the education and the literacy as determinants of health, seve-ral fields of health education and health promotion related to young adults, elements and determinants of health culture, the links between health and learning, adults’ interest and claims related to learning process, methods, topics.In my research I made a survey of learning methods and contents with the help of the analysis of the scientific literature and by questionnaires. I examined young adults’ (18 to 30) concepts of health and healthy lifestyle, motivations, forms of communication, learningmethods and participation in community platforms of health. We use the results of this research to improve programs that support young people’s learning activities for health.
