Dwudziestolecie międzywojenne było w Polsce okresem wyjątkowego poświęcenia, które należy utożsamiać z wielkim patriotyzmem i wręcz emocjonalnym odnoszeniem się do spraw „wagi państwowej”. Jednym z jego przejawów było budowanie i utrzymywanie w systemie dobrowolnych opodatkowań ośrodków turystyczno-leczniczych. To była forma wspierania państwa w rozwiązywaniu jego ważnych społecznie problemów. W tym ogólnopolskim procesie nie zabrakło kolejarzy polskich, którzy tworzyli jedną z najbardziej licznych grup zawodowych. W ciągu kilkunastu lat uruchomiono kilka „pomnikowych” realizacji, z których część – przy zmienionej formie wykorzystania – funkcjonuje do dzisiaj.
In Poland the interwar period was a time of an extraordinary sacrifice, which should be identified with great patriotism and even emotional referring to the matters of state. One of the signs was to develop and maintain tourist and health centers under a system of voluntary taxation. It was a form of supporting the state in solving its socially important problems. Polish railwaymen, who created one of the most numerous professional groups, participated in this nationwide process. Over several dozen years, several monumental projects have been launched, some of which – with a modified form of use – are still in operation today.

Miejscowość Szczawnica, usytuowana na granicy Beskidu Sądeckiego i Pienin, stała się na początku XIX w. uzdrowiskiem. Wiązało się to z napływem turystów kuracyjnych. W przeciwną stronę rozchodziły się produkty uzyskane w uzdrowisku, m.in. wody mineralne. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą ukazania stanu komunikacji drogowej oraz wodnej na odcinku Krościenko nad Dunajcem – Szczawnica i jego wpływu na wybrane aspekty funkcjonowania uzdrowiska.
The town of Szczawnica, situated on the border of the Beskid Sądecki and the Pieniny Mountains, became a health resort at the beginning of the 19th century. It was connected with the influx of curative tourists and outflow of products obtained in the health resort, e.g. mineral water. This article is an attempt to show the condition of road and water transport on the section Krościenko nad Dunajcem-Szczawnica and its impact on selected aspects of functioning of the health resorts.

Aim of study. The aim of this study is to evaluate the size and the types of leisure-time activities with special regard to health-oriented behaviors among blue-collar and white-collar workers of the snacks company “Lajkonik” in Skawin. Research material and methods. Questionnaire survey using original survey questionnaire was conducted among 60 people: 30 blue-collar and 30 white-collar workers of both sexes. The age of the respondents ranged between 18 and 65 years. The survey questions concerned: amount of leisure time, preferred types of health-oriented leisure activities, people (friends, family) who join respondents in leisure activities, most frequent leisure places and activities performed by respondents during leisure time. Chi-squared test was used to compare employees’ preferences and leisure time habits.Findings. The survey showed that leisure time is seen as desired by employees –a decided majority of respondents felt the want of leisure time. It was observed that there was a difference between leisure time activities preferred by blue-collar workers and white-collar workers –white-collar workers preferred physical activities. Conclusions. In comparison with blue-collar workers, white-collar workers more frequently chose active leisure pursuits, in particular qualified tourism and physical recreation whereas blue-collar workers participated in parties and social gatherings more.

The globalization of the economy made it necessary for market actors to seek innovative ways of building competitive advantages. It is an essential condition to survive in a highly competitive environment. A new way of staying competitive in the market is to combine the forces of various market actors, i.e. form cooperative networks of competitors. The system of relations in a network of cooperating entities is a source of unique advantages for the group members. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that Uniejów is a place where a system of cooperative-competitive relations is functioning and generating unique competitive advantages. The paper attempts to highlight the specific relationships between the entities, with a particular focus on their character, extent, quality and advantages.
Zglobalizowana gospodarka wymusza na podmiotach rynkowych poszukiwanie coraz bardziej innowacyjnych sposobów budowania trwałych przewag konkurencyjnych. Jest to warunek niezbędny, aby sprostać silnej konkurencji. Podobnie dzieje się w sektorze turystyki uzdrowiskowej, dla którego poszukiwanie nowych źródeł przewag konkurencyjnych jest fundamentalnym zadaniem. Nowym sposobem bycia konkurencyjnym na rynku jest połączenie sił różnych aktorów gry rynkowej, wzajemnie kooperujących, tzn. jednocześnie konkurujących i współpracujących. Powstały w ten sposób system relacji w sieci współpracujących firm tworzy źródło unikalnych korzyści dostępnych tylko dla danej grupy. Autor artykułu koncentruje się na udowodnieniu, że Uniejów jest miejscem, gdzie funkcjonuje struktura tworząca system powiązań konkurencyjno-kooperacyjnych stanowiąca źródło unikalnych przewag konkurencyjnych na rynku. Artykuł stanowi próbę opisania specyfiki powiązań pomiędzy przedsiębiorstwami ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich charakteru, zasięgu, jakości oraz korzyści.

The aim of the study is to compare the level of innovation of companies introducing innovations with consumer participation with that of other innovative providers of health tourism services. The following hypothesis was formulated: Companies benefiting from the participation of consumers in the process of innovation represent a higher level of innovativeness than other innovative providers of health tourism services. The following methods were used: a comparative analysis, a questionnaire (CAWI and PAPI), a standardized interview, and the ranking method. 461 providers of health tourism services participated in the research. The value and implications of the paper for the economic sciences contribute to the development of innovation theory. The hypothesis has been positively verified. The research shows a much higher level of innovation in companies cooperating with consumers (patients) than that of other respondents.

Subject and purpose of work: The research problem is wellness tourism and its connections with forest economy. The main goal is to determine the mutual connections occurring between wellness tourism and forest economy. Materials and methods: The research was carried out in three stages using various methods: a comparative analysis of 39 spas, standardised inspections of facilities offering health tourism services and the selection of a facility being a model of good practice (case study). Results: The most important forms of the small tourist infrastructure offered to patients in forest areas are hiking and bicycle paths (92%), as well as horse trails and viewing points (about 50%). Cluster initiatives and cooperation with local governments and forest districts, consisting in joint promotion, are important. A diagram was developed, showing the interactions of forest economy and wellness tourism. Conclusions: Providers of spa services and State Forests are natural partners, yet the level of cooperation is low and mainly involves promotional activities. It is advisable to create a nationwide forest and sanatorium spa organisation that would coordinate activities in the field of forest economy to take advantage of tourism and health-promoting assets of forests.
Przedmiot i cel pracy: Problemem badawczym jest turystyka uzdrowiskowa i jej związki z gospodarką leśną. Postawionym celem jest próba określenia wzajemnych powiązań występujących między turystyką uzdrowiskową a gospodarką leśną. Materiały i metody: Badania prowadzono w trzech etapach z wykorzystaniem różnych metod: analiza porównawcza 39 uzdrowisk, wywiady standaryzowane obiektów świadczących usługi turystyki zdrowotnej i wyłonienie obiektu stanowiącego wzór dobrych praktyk (studium przypadku). Wyniki: Najważniejsze formy małej infrastruktury turystycznej oferowane kuracjuszom w lasach, to szlaki piesze i ścieżki rowerowe (92%), ponadto szlaki konne i punkty widokowych (około 50%). Istotne są inicjatywy klastrowe i współpraca z samorządami oraz nadleśnictwami polegająca na wspólnej promocji. Opracowano schemat pokazujący interakcje gospodarki leśnej i turystyki uzdrowiskowej. Wnioski: Świadczeniodawcy usług uzdrowiskowych i Lasy Państwowe są naturalnymi partnerami jednak poziom współpracy jest niski i dotyczy głównie działań promocyjnych. Sugeruje się utworzenie ogólnokrajowej organizacji leśno-sanatoryjnej, koordynującej działania w sferze gospodarki leśnej odnoszącej się do wykorzystania turystycznych i zdrowotnych właściwości lasów.

Współcześnie sektor usług turystycznych stanowi jedną z dynamicznie rozwijających się dziedzin życia społecznego. Turystyka spełnia wiele funkcji determinujących konsekwencje jej rozwoju. Za kluczową wśród nich uznaje się funkcję zdrowotną, której realizacją zajmuje się między innymi turystyka medyczna. Wyróżnia się ona spośród innych form turystyki połączniem podróży w celach zdrowotnych oraz turystycznych. Postępujący proces globalizacji, innowacyjne technologie w inżynierii medycznej oraz jednakowy dostęp do świadczeń zdrowotnych na terenie Unii Europejskiej przyczyniły się do powstania nowych perspektyw w funkcjonowaniu systemu opieki zdrowotnej oraz świadczenia specjalistycznych usług medycznych. Znaczne koszty usług medycznych w krajach rozwiniętych, odległe terminy planowanych zabiegów, długi czas oczekiwania na wykonanie świadczenia oraz wzrastający popyt na profesjonalne usługi medyczne wynikające z postępującego procesu starzenia się społeczeństw spowodowały, że w 2011 roku Unia Europejska wprowadziła dyrektywę koordynującą prawa pacjentów w transgranicznej opiece zdrowotnej. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie na prawa, które przysługują turyście korzystającemu ze świadczenia medycznego poza granicami własnego państwa. Metodę badawczą stanowiła analiza treści koordynacji systemów zabezpieczenia społecznego oraz dyrektywy transgranicznej. W artykule wskazano także na postanowienia Trybunału Sprawiedliwości UE, którego wyroki przyczyniły się do wdrożenia zasad transgranicznej opieki medycznej w państwach Wspólnoty Europejskiej.
Nowadays the tourism sector is one of the most dynamically developing areas of social life. Tourism fulfils many functions that determine the consequences of its development. The most crucial among them is the health function, which is realized through, inter alia, medical tourism. It is distinguished from other forms of tourism by combing travel for health and tourist purposes. The progressive globalization process, innovative technologies in medical engineering and equal access to health services within the European Union contributed to the emergence of new perspectives for the functioning of the health system and the provision of specialist medical services. Significant costs of medical services in the developed countries, distant dates of planned procedures, long waiting time to be granted benefits and an increasing demand for professional medical services resulting from the progressive aging of the population led, in 2011, to introducing by the European Union of a directive adjusting patients rights in cross-border healthcare. The aim of this paper is to show what rights a tourist is entitled to when using medical services outside one’s country. The research method involved an analysis of the content of the social security systems coordination and the cross-border directive. The paper also indicates the provisions of the EU Court of Justice, which have contributed to the implementation of cross-border healthcare within the European Community

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań ankietowych dotyczących oceny atrakcyjności trzech polskich uzdrowisk (Krynica, Polanica i Kołobrzeg). Analiza dotyczy zarówno próby oszacowania, które z cech wpływają najbardziej na ogólną ocenę atrakcyjności uzdrowiska, jak i tego, czy występują różnice w ocenach kuracjuszy z uzdrowisk będących na odmiennym poziomie rozwoju funkcji uzdrowiskowej oraz między kuracjuszami, którzy sami decydują o miejscu kuracji oraz za których zdecydowali inni.
The publication presents the results of the survey concerning the evaluation of the attractiveness of the three Polish spas (Krynica, Polanica and Kolobrzeg). The analysis concerns both attempt to estimate which of the features affecting the total score of the attractiveness of the resort, as well as whether there are differences in the score of the visitors form spas who are at different stages of the development of spas function, and between the spa visitors, who themselves decided about location of treatment and this visitors who have not decided by themselves.

In this study the topic of pioneering form of the cosmic tourism is described. The effect of this kind of travel on human being is discussed. The attention is also paid to the complexity of the man's body structure. The main directions of the development of the cosmic tourism are introduced and a few facts from the history of the conquest of space are reminded, and also there are considerations to this topic. The study consists of four chapters. In the first part the cosmic tourism is described. In the second selected elements of body structure and human body function are introduced, also its complex character and basic regulating mechanisms. A confrontation of human body possibilities with factors present during the flight to space is touched up, e.g. on G-force and weightlessness. A problem of the astronaut's sleep is described, as well. Then, the results of the poll carried out in the topic of an interest of flight in space are introduced. Furthermore, the problem of life's risk during flight in space is touched up as compared to extreme sports. At the end, words of the only Pole, so far, in the outer space about the cosmic tourism are quoted.

Health resort, as part of the health care system is still undervalued and underinvested spa area of the economy. Celem artykułu jest analiza zmian w sektorze lecznictwa uzdrowiskowego, zarówno od strony podaży, jak i popytu. The theme of the article is the Kemeri district’s development in Latvia as a tourism destination. The aim is to research the reasons for the decline in tourism in Kemeri and to determine factors influencing tourism development in the Kemeri district. Scientific articles and theoretical resources (44 in total), including Latvia’s and Jurmala municipality’s long-term planning documents, have been used to create this document. For primary data, a survey was conducted amongst the Kemeri district’s local inhabitants, and the foreign and local visitors in Jurmala and Kemeri, in addition to interviewing Latvian tourism industry experts. Consequently, a mixed method of research was conducted, both of qualitative and quantitative data, obtained through secondary and primary data analysis. The study contains research on the reasons for the decline in the district’s tourism, focusing on the Kemeri district in Latvia’s and Jurmala municipality’s future strategies and plans, whichhave had no interest in investing in the district, and whether there actually is a potential for the Kemeri district to develop its tourism from the point of view of visitors and experts.

Opis:
The process of organizing school trips should include such didactic elements as teaching, education, integration and recreation, as well as take into account the principles of a healthy lifestyle associated with the renewal and regeneration of psychophysical strength. Teachers organizing such excursions should, already in the process of planning, be guided by the values, potential benefits and attractiveness of the travel destinations. Health resorts, where the local climate creates optimum conditions for relaxation, constitute important travel destinations of trips organized for children and teenagers. The purpose of this article is to present towns and villages that are classified as health resorts as a reception space, which due to the qualities of their natural and cultural environment can influence the tourist activity of primary and middle school students. School tourism in the selected health resorts has been characterized in this paper for the purpose of conducting research.
Podczas organizacji wycieczek szkolnych powinno uwzględniać się takie elementy dydaktyczno-wychowawcze jak nauczanie, wychowanie, integracja czy rekreacja, przy jednoczesnym uwzględnieniu zasad zdrowego stylu życia związanego z odnową i regeneracją sił psychofizycznych. Nauczyciele, pełniąc rolę organizatorów wycieczek, już w trakcie planowania wyjazdów powinni kierować się walorami środowiska miejsca pobytu i jego potencjalnymi korzyściami. Ważnymi kierunkami wśród wyjazdów dzieci i młodzieży szkolnej są miejscowości uzdrowiskowe, których lokalny klimat stwarza optymalne warunki do wypoczynku. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie miejscowości mających status uzdrowiska jako przestrzeni recepcyjnej, której wysokie walory środowiska przyrodniczo-kulturowego mogą wpływać na aktywność turystyczną uczniów szkół podstawowych i gimnazjalnych. Na potrzeby badań scharakteryzowano szkolny ruch turystyczny w wybranych uzdrowiskach.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to identify the motives of visits in the Wigierski National Park (north−eastern Poland), which were focused on health and regeneration of vitality by inhabitants of Suwałki. Knowledge about the influence of forest environment on health was also investigated. The quota sampling was used to determine the sample size and number of respondents was determined proportionally to the level of education and age of people surveyed. We used discriminant analysis to determine which variables stood out in four analysed age groups. Recreational and tourism as well as therapeutic opportunities, to a great extent, are not just noticed by respondents, but also applied by them in their daily life. Respondents appreciated the healing effect of the forest environment on people, on their physical and mental needs. Such attitude was achieved thanks to widely conducted education, which enhanced such aspects as medical properties of forests and their role in health prevention. Respondents declared the need for visiting actively forest areas for leisure and health reasons. Respondents particularly emphasized a possibility of health improvement, even more than a desire to enjoy anthropogenic attractions of the Wigierski National Park. Taking into account tourists' needs that are aimed at leisure and health, as well as appreciating non−productive importance of forests, it is recommended that the State Forests, through supervision and adequate infrastructure, should strive for the most convenient way to make forest environment available for people. It was also applied for protecting forest resources in order to maintain their sustainability for present and future generations. It was stated that the promotion of active leisure in connection with natural forest environment is a new way of life, especially applied by residents of large urban agglomerations. Such promotion is also a key task of public authorities and various organizations related to ecology and health. A special role is attributed to tourism and recreation organizers, but most of all to the State Forests, which are the main administrator of this forest area.

Health resort treatment is an important element of the Polish health care system. An aging population, an increase in the amount of free time and income, as well as a healthy lifestyle trend are the main factors for the development of health tourism. West Pomeranian voivodeship ranks 3rd in the country in terms of the number of health resorts, as well as is the undisputed leader in terms of the number of people visiting Polish resorts. In 2017, over 25% of patients underwent medical treatment in health resorts in West Pomeranian voivodeship. The aim of the study was to analyze the potential of health resorts in West Pomeranian voivodeship and to assess the development of tourist traffic in health resorts in recent years. West Pomeranian voivodeship observes a steady increase in the number of health resort visitors using the services offered by health establishments and a changing structure of patients in regard to the financing method – there is a growing number of people who finance their stay in the health resort on their own. In order to maintain the leading position on the market of health tourism services, it is necessary to raise the standard of health services, carry out further investments in modern health resort infrastructure that is open to innovative and unconventional solutions combining traditional and modern methods of treatment as well as preventive healthcare and leisure. There is a need to constantly adapt the health tourism product to the changing needs of patients and to create new brand of products as well as acquire new groups of recipients who finance their stay in health establishments.
