Due to self-acting variability of operating conditions during the work of lifting devices, it is fundamental for the gears to stop the cabin at any clearance height. The operating conditions are changed by dust contamination influencing a proper braking process of the gear. This article presents the independent tests results. The impact of progressive gear geometry on the braking distance both in variable operating conditions and variable loading is analyzed. The tests were conducted for the gear applied in short distance transportation devices. Changing operating conditions were obtained by using various lubricating agents. The following five types of the gears were used for the tests: ASG100, PP16, PR2000, KB160. CHP 2000 gear was tested as a new solution. The tests were conducted using a free fall method. The test results obtained from an experiment were approximated by using Savitzky-Golay method.

The article presents the numerical analysis of the impact of geometry errors on the motion transmission of dual path gearing. The strength calculations of the elements of the drive were made by means of the Finite Elements Method (FEM). The calculations were made for the two-dimensional models of the dual path gearing. In the first place, the drive of the error-free (theoretical) geometry was tested. Next, the modifications of the selected teeth were introduced to the calculation models. The aim of the modifications of the tooth profile was to simulate pitch errors in compliance with the admissible values defined by PN-ISO 1328-1:2015 norm “Cylindrical gears – ISO system of flank tolerance classification”. Finally, all the results were put together for comparison. The obtained results confirm the high irregularity of work gear as a result of errors tooth geometry.

Opis:
The toothed gears are used in the power transmission systems. It is result from advantages of them (e.g. efficiency, reliability, fatigue life, high-load transmission). In the power transmission systems for trucks, and for cars with back drive, gear pairs are used. In that case it is possible to transfer turning moment under right angle. The most common in use in so-called main axle are bevel or hypoid gear pairs. Differential gears are mainly built basis of straight bevel gears. The paper presents method of preliminary determination of usability bevel gears for transfer turning moment. The method uses gears' models which are made with Rapid Prototyping techniques. The gears are placed in the testbed, which enables to steady load of gear pair. The observation of tooth contact makes possible to preliminary evaluate of correctness of gear pair's working. The tooth contact's changes are observed during gear rotation. The direct observation of tooth gears can be done using transparent material for gears. Besides, it is possible to determine temporary tooth contact and its changes in function of gears' rotation for existing metal gear pairs. In order to analyse, it is necessary to make copy of existing gears vacuum cleaning method. It uses the silicone forms as a template to make copies. It should be use transparent material. The method enables to analyse tooth contact in gear pairs after lifetime, thereby evaluating impact of working on correctness of gear pairs' working.

Opis:
The paper contains description of an experimental method of stress pattern visualization. Mainly analytical methods and a Finite Element Method are used to determine internal stress pattern. Sometimes photo-elasticity is used. Model is made by copying real objects by casting from special optical-active resins. There is possible to put into use Rapid Prototyping methods. Some materials used in RP processes are optically active. In proposed solution of stress pattern visualization special models of gears are used. Models are made directly from optically active resin by Rapid Prototyping method - stereolitography. A transparent fotohardening optically active resin Sl5170 has been used to observe stress pattern in polarized light. Prototypes of gear are assembled in a special device and loaded by torque. The principle of a mechanical similarity was applied. In relation to the classic photo-elasticity method novelty is the use of the LCD monitor as a source of light and a camera with polarisation filter for observation and recording the distribution of internal stress pattern. The use of simulation of gear generating in CAD system and stereolitography method to produce a prototype allows you to eliminate the classic machining of gear at lower cost.
W artykule przedstawiono eksperymentalną metodę wyznaczania rozkładu naprężeń. W celu określenia rozkładu naprężeń używane są metody analityczne i komputerowe wykorzystujące metodę elementów skończonych. W niektórych przypadkach użycie znajduje elestooptyka. Modele do elastooptyki są kopiami rzeczywistych obiektów, wykonanymi z materiału czynnego optycznie. Możliwe jest zastosowanie techniki szybkiego prototypowania w celu wykonania takiego modeluo. Niektóre z materiałów używanych w szybkim prototypowaniu są czynne optycznie. W proponowanym rozwiązaniu w wizualizacji naprężeń w kołach zębatych układów napędowych używane są specjalne modele kół. Modele są wykonane bezpośrednio z żywicy czynnej optycznie metodą stereolitografii. Użyto przezroczystej, fotoutwardzalnej żywicy Sl5170 w celu wyznaczenia rozkładu naprężeń. Modele kół obserwowano w świetle spolaryzowanym. Koła zestawiono w specjalnym przyrządzie i obciążono momentem skręcającym.

Opis:
A constant tendency in the development of gear transmission is aiming for increasing its load capacity and minimalizing its outside dimensions and weight. It is particularly important in automotive vehicles. In every type of transmission, among others in gear-boxes, mainly involute profile wheels are used. The work presents analysis of possibility of applying a typical meshing in driving units of cars. This kind of meshing can be alternative to involute meshing which is most widely used in gear transmission. Among existing solutions of this type, Nowikow meshing is applied most often. A different kind of concavo-convex gearing is BBW type gearing. The gearing is obtained by generation with a tool with reference profile in which tooth profile of a rack is an involute. The analysis of possibility of applying has been carried out with the exemplary concavo-convex BBW type gearing. In BBW type gearing a wheel with a smaller number of teeth has a positive profile curvature, and a cooperating wheel has a negative curvature. Teeth profiles are conjugate ones, transverse contact ratio is higher than l, so this kind of gearing may be used also in gears with straight teeth. What is more linear contact occurring along the whole width of mating teeth, in comparison to point contact in Nowikow meshing, creates possibilities of obtaining higher load capacity of gearing. BBW gearing based on involute-derivative tooth profiles is characterized by smaller sensitivity to the change of axle distance than Nowikow meshing.

We optimise the speed gears in a tractor transmission with KISSsoft software under three constraints: input power torque, transmission system volume and the gear ratio for each speed. This study aimed to optimise the module, face width, gear quality, centre distance, number of teeth, helix angle, addendum modification coefficient and pressure angle for each speed while considering the above constraints based on an optimisation chart. Tooth bending stress, tooth contact stress, contact ratio and specific sliding were considered during optimisation. Additionally, the effects of changes in a module on the gear profiles, overlap ratio, number of teeth and weight of the gear pair were examined. Strength calculations of gear pairs that were optimised and defined for all geometric parameters with KISSsoft were calculated with the mathematical model described in ISO 6336, and results were then compared. Finally, backlash was minimised for all gear pairs as defined with geometric parameters, and all dimensions and tolerances were determined for gear inspection after manufacturing. A concept design was also presented. We conclude that both the KISSsoft results and mathematical model results are within the range of the target value.

Opis:
The main factor that characterize the durability of worm gears are the materials from which the elements are made. Distinct from toothed gear, in which, in most of cases collaborating elements are made from toughened steel, in worm gears the standard is collaborating of toughened worm and relatively soft worm wheel, made from bronze. Applications of different materials have not given good results. Due to this reason a worm gear operating barriers, which not similar to different types of gears, take place. The article presents the mechanism of worm gears utilization, which in most of cases decide about its durability. Theoretical basis of operating barriers have been given, with particular emphasis on fatigue and abrasive wear barriers, which are most common reason of durability limitation. Operating test results have been presented as well as trials, that were to determine the durability depending on operation conditions. Recommendations have been formulated for proper material selection, operating conditions as well as valuations of gear durability stage.

he polymer gears owing to their advantages are used in auxiliary power transmission systems of automotive . For example, the gears occur in transmissions of drives of car wipers or drives of car windows. The polymers are mainly used owing to lower production cost than in steel gears. The better silent-running and corrosion z are their other advantages in comparison with steel gears. Unfortunately, the polymer gears are not devoid of disadvantages. The main disadvantages are the lower efficiency and the lower capacity and what follows — the bigger dimensions. The conservative attitude of design of polymer gears is still noticeable. As a rule, such gears e steel gears, but the polymer gears are designed with bigger module. The most probably owing costs and lack of proper design recommendations, for design of polymer gears is used geometry of classic steel gears, because the procedure of analytical strength calculations for classic gears is well-know. The gears made from polymers are built in the mould matrices. In constructions of many mechanisms, the gears can be replaced in case of consumption or damage, so the construction of such gears that can be produced in the machine shop equipped with gear generating e for standard gears, was justified. Nowadays, the constructions of mechanisms used in automotive vehicles are often not even dismountable, but the whole mechanism is changed. It is worth changing the attitude to design of such transmissions.  The method of gears production gives many opportunities.   The production of gears with ited geometry, also such geometry that is impossible to obtain using traditional methods of machining, is possible in the mould matrices.

Opis:
The article proposes the implementation of a novel method of plastic forming of internal toothing in flange spline sleeves. A method being the subject of Polish patent application P.416772 has been used for this purpose, which involves a combination of the scheme of the direct extrusion of a cone hollow with the die press forming of the wall to obtain a flange. The entire process takes place in a single technological sequence. The operations come one after another, so that there is no need for reheating the stock or carrying out intermediate soft annealing. The proposed method is assumed to be an alternative to the operation of press forming of internal spline sleeve toothing in a conical die [1] and to the operation of swaging on rotary swaging machines [2]. It is assumed that this method, too, is alternative to other technologies known from the literature and industrial practice, whose specifications and literature references will be indicated later on in this paper. Computer simulations of the flanged sleeve plastic forming process were performed using the commercial numerical program Forge®3D. During the numerical computations, the distributions of temperature fields were determined on the cross-section of the plastically formed product. The computations enabled also the visualization of the plastic flow of metal, especially in the toothing forming regions, and the determination of the energy and force parameters of the process.

The article reports the results of a comparative analysis made for three novel unconventional gear wheel forging processes based on the authors’ patented [5,6,21] plastic forming methods developed chiefly for the purposes of extruding hollow products as well as valves and pins. These processes are distinguished by the fact that part of the tooling elements which are normally fixed during conventional forging are purposefully set in motion. This is intended to change the conditions of friction at the metal-tool contact surface and to induce additional thermal effects due to the transformation of the plastic deformation energy into thermal energy and, as a consequence, to improve the plastic flow of metal and to reduce the force parameters of the process.

Article presents analysis of surface roughness of aircraft and vehicle power transmission system gear teeth made by different Rapid Prototyping methods. Gear box models have been made by two rapid prototyping methods: stereolithography (SLA), three dimensional printing (3DP) and two rapid tooling methods: Vacuum Casting (VC), Low Pressure Injection (LPI). Surface roughness for rapid prototyping methods is determined mostly by layered system of building model. It depends on process parameters: layer thickness and model position in working space of RP machine. Vacuum Casting and Low Pressure Injection are Rapid Tooling technologies. For this technology final surface roughness is a reflection of surface parameters of tools (silicon mould, silicon matrix). The paper presents results of surface roughness measurements of gear made by few RP and RT methods. The most important thing was an analysis of surface roughness made by Rapid Tooling methods. In these methods surface roughness depends on surface parameters of basis RP model. For basis RP models finishing processing was applied. This process improves parameters of the surface. This research process allowed to define the influence of chosen RP and RT method and its parameters on surface roughness of gear tooth. It permitted to order rapid prototyping methods for application of power transmission prototype making process.

This article presents the methodology of shot peening gears’ parameters selection used in agricultural tractor transmission. The gears made of steel have been treated with 21NiCrMo2 thermal-chemical consisting of carburization to the depth of 0.8 mm and subsequently hardened. The hardness of the side teeth surface after hardening was 58 HRC. The same process of thermo chemical was used for flat samples with dimensions 120×12×5 mm. Prepared samples were divided into two series. First shot peening was treated with spherical pellet with a varied diameter from 0.4 mm to 2.5 mm. For second series samples additional treatment of shot peening was not carried out. Then micro-hardness, roughness and longitudinal and transverse residual stresses were measured. As a result of the studies, there were selected parameters of shot peening, exerting the greatest influence on favourable residual stresses distribution in the surface layer of material and an increase in microhardness. At the same time, particular attention was paid to the morphology of samples surfaces after shot peening. There were rejected the parameters of shot peening, which caused damage to the surface in the form of visible cracks and craters. Based on the analysis presented in this article there were selected shot peening parameters, which will be applied during the additional dynamic surface processing of gears, used in the tractor’s drive system.

Opis:
Contemporary aeronautical constructions require applying systems of drive transmission based on gear units. Trends in development of aeronautical gears assume diminishing weight of the gear retaining its basic features which are; the possibility of transmitting high load and reliability. The article presents an analysis of criterion for choosing constructional solutions for aeronautical multi-power path gear units. A few criteria were chosen for the analysis: constructional solutions of aircrafts (planes, helicopters), constructional solutions of engine- moment receiver system and a kind of applied drive. Because the field of issues connected with aeronautical drive transmission systems is very wide, the material and technological factors were not taken into account. They are a subject of separate analysis. The main aim of the presented analysis is determining the criterion for choosing constructional solutions of drives based on existing solutions which allow for implementing new solutions for newly developed aeronautical constructions on the prototype stage. Modernising existing constructional solutions is difficult to put into practice because of procedures followed in the aeronautic industry. That is why the carried out analysis aims at preparing solutions for research on the stage of making a virtual and demonstrative prototype. The final effect of such analysis and research can be developing a solution for gear unit parts assuring the possibility of transmitting a given moment while diminishing, for example, weight in comparison to gears which are produced nowadays. This factor is extremely important for parts of aeronautical constructions.

Opis:
Quality control gears o aircraft gearbox has become a key component in today's manufacturing process. Optical 3D scanning, based on the principle of fringe projection, has proven to be both an accurate and cost-effective alternative delivering more dimensional information to aid in quality control and process optimization by creating more meaningful measuring reports. The ATOS 3D BLUE LIGHT optical scanner has a unique capability of being user-configurable to address various measuring requirements. This is accomplished via the user’s ability to change measuring volumes in minutes, in order to increase scan data resolution or increase the measuring field of view. The paper present the opportunity to automate the measurement process of bevel gears, using coordinated optical scanner ATOS 3D "white light" version and "blue light" version. Using coordinate measuring technique, you can specify a set of methods and procedures for the designation of the complex dimensions of physical objects and transform them into a computer program space of coordinate measuring devices. The topics included in the article are intended to show the capabilities of the device used to improve the measurement process and shorten its time, and hence, lower its costs in both version of ATOS Scanner. Another thing described in the paper is the impact of measurement performance in automatic mode on the quality of performance - the numerical image of scanned surface, from the standpoint of accuracy and number of collected data points in the shortest time. The article includes an analysis of conditions related to the measurement works, such as the process of preparing the model and measurement equipment and data processing capacity.

Opis:
The article presents the experimental method of instantaneous contact area in hypoid gear transmission. The prototypes of hypoid gear have been made with one of the rapid prototyping method — Vacuum Casting process. This method permits to manufacture gear wheel with very complicated tooth profile in silicone tool (form or matrix) created in vacuum chamber with reduced pressure. Silicone matrix allows creating prototype in casting process or low pressure process. Silicone matrix has been made on the basis of gear transmission of car transmission system. Gears were made of transparent polymer materials to enable observation of the instantaneous contact area. The instantaneous contact area is that tooth flank surface area, which is in contact with mating surface of another tooth at a specific moment. Correct mating of gears and their kinematic precision depend on the shape and size of instantaneous contact area, as well as on changes during gear 's rotation. Contact between gear surfaces of geometrically ideal gearbox occurs at a point or line, but, because of a deformability of mating teeth flanks, in reality it is always a certain surface. The method of tooth contact area as described in the paper, permits a dynamic determination of the gearbox mating area. Existing experimental methods permit only a static observation of the mating area.

Opis:
Landing gears are one of the main components of an aircraft. The landing gear is used not only during take-off and landing but also, in most cases, during ground manoeuvres. Due to its function, the landing gear is also one of the key safety components of the aircraft due to dissipating landing loads acting on the aircraft. The mentioned loads come from both the vertical and horizontal speeds during touchdown and by the aircraft’s losing the speed by braking. The landing gear is then loaded with constantly changing forces acting in various directions during every landing, with the only difference coming from their magnitude. The repeatable loading conditions cause significant wear of the landing gear. This wear can be divided into two categories, one is the wear of consumable parts such as the brake linings and the other is the fatigue wear of the structural components. The latter type of wear is much more dangerous due to its slow, and in many cases, unnoticeable progression. Fatigue wear can be estimated by numerical analyses - this method works with a great degree of probability on single components but due to the complexity of the landing gear as a whole it is not precise enough to be applied to the full structure. In order to evaluate the fatigue of the whole landing gear the best method accepted by regulations is the laboratory testing method. It involves a series of various drop tests resembling the real landing condition distribution. The aim of the tests is to check the fatigue wear of the landing gear and to prove its reliability for certification and/or operational purposes. In this paper the author describes the basics of the landing gear fatigue wear, possibilities of its evaluation and presents laboratory dynamic method used for extensive tests in life-like operation conditions.

Opis:
The paper presents a process of designing, modelling and manufacturing of a demonstrative prototype of a dual-power path gear unit to be applied in aeronautical systems of drive transmission. The process of making a demonstrator of a dual-power path gear unit by means of 3D-CAD modelling and Rapid Prototyping has been described here. Designing gears is based on Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems including also Rapid Prototyping (RP). The first stage of the designing process of a gear unit is always defining basic parameters of gear work (among others; power, rotational speed, transmission ratio) depending on the unit's predestination. On the basis of the above, the calculation of main constructional parameters is carried out. Subsequently, it is possible to make 3D-CAD models of toothed wheels and the remaining parts of the gear unit. In case of designing demonstrative prototypes, it is important to take into consideration the assumptions of modelling similarity to a real gear unit. 3D-CAD systems are often equipped with modules for analysing geometrical parameters and cooperation of individual parts of the unit for example the area of contact. A detailed analysis of cooperation of gear parts of the unit allows for detecting models' faults early and for deleting them. After making 3D-CAD models one can approach to creating a prototype by means of Rapid Prototyping methods. It is necessary to prepare the numerical data essential as a subsequent stage of the process of making the demonstrator. On that basis the individual parts of the gear unit are made in an incremental process. The accuracy of creating a physical prototype depends mainly on the accuracy of a 3D-CAD/3D-RP model prepared in a process of processing numerical data. A demonstrator described in the paper has been made by means of FDM method. The prototype allowed for analysing constructional solutions of gear units on a physical model and for preparing assumptions for introductory stand tests.

Despite the very rapid technological development, the general concept of mechanical devices has not changed. Still, the most common element of these devices are gears, whose range of use is very wide. There are both technological and historical considerations for the reconstruction of gears and other elements. In particular, this applies to spare parts for technical facilities that are not available on the market or service costs are too high. Contemporary reconstruction is called Reverse Engineering, which offers tools that allow transformation of an existing object through a virtual model into the final real product. Modern production engineering is based on innovative CAD – Computer Aided Designed design methods and computer-aided manufacturing technologies, CAM – Computer Aided Manufacturing. The rapid development of 3D CAD systems has led to the development of solutions to obtain the designed object, already at the development stage. Such a solution is the Rapid Prototyping method, designed for fast, precise and repeatable production of machine components. Widespread use and growing interest in the use of additive printing influenced the development of this technology. The purpose of the article is to present the practical application of the Reverse Engineering method and 3D printing in the reconstruction of gears. The object of research is the real gear, which has been reconstructed using Reverse Engineering and 3D printing. The article presents the basic assumptions of the methods used and the methodology for conducting reconstruction work. FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology was used for the research. The results obtained are a real example of the practical application of the presented methods. At the same time, they create great opportunities for their wider use.

The paper presents an outcome of load carrying tests of gears in an aircraft gearbox demonstrator made of ABS B601polymer by means of INSPIRE D290 device. These tests checked an influence of an additional number of contours in gear models on durability of cooperating wheel pair during stand tests. The CAD models of the gears for stand tests were made in Autodesk Inventor program and were used as a base for making physical models. Therefore, Inventor files were exported to STL format. The following stage of data preparation was made in Model Wizard. The gears for stand tests were made by means of MEM method on INSPIRE D290 printer. Unlike most devices, this printer makes it possible to control not only the density of the filling in a model, but also to increase the number of contours. ABS polymer was chosen to make the gears. The choice was due to its good properties and because it is commonly used and also because it was possible to make the parts of the gearing at the Rzeszow University of Technology. Subsequently the gear pair was fixed on a test stand. The stand was designed in an open system. It was powered by a three-phase 0.75 kW electric motor. The control was provided by a single-phase inverter. Load on the stand was provided by an electromagnetic powder brake. This paper is a part of implementation of the research task number 4 „Development of a new, simpler and cheaper toothed gear in place of complicated and expensive planetary gears” of the project „Modern material technologies in aerospace industry."

Opis:

Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA)
Opis:
The paper contains description of an experimental method of Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA). In practice there is mainly more than one pair of teeth in contact in gear. In determined orientation of gear wheels instantaneous contact ellipses occur between teeth. Shape and size of the contact ellipses are dependent on gear material, geometry and load. In manufacturing practice only mating areas are determined on control machines without operating load. Mainly analytical methods and a Finite Element Method are used to determine instantaneous contact ellipses. It is essential to observe changes in instantaneous contact ellipses relative to the rotations of wheels in gear drive in the range of a single pitch. In proposed solution of the problem the instantaneous contact ellipses and bearing area are experimentally determined using a rapid prototyping (RP) process. Prototypes of gear are assembled in a special device and loaded by torque. A transparent resin has been used to observe the instantaneous contact pattern. The principle of a mechanical similarity was applied.

Opis:
Gears were used in ancient times although in a primitive form. A turning point in the rapid development of gears was in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. In this time the invention of high-performance tools, highresistant materials and the creation of sufficient, accurate methods of heat and chemical treatment took place. Further improvement by optimizing the transmission structure, and the unification of its components is of great practical and economic importance. These problems are presented in this contribution. In particular, this paper deals with the problem of optimization and unification of two stage helical gear reducer with axial and opposite input and output shafts. The basic goal of this study is to unify the case because the case is one of the most expensive transmission elements. In connection with that, it is possible to put into the same case different sets of wheels to obtain predetermined different total gear ratios. An optimization procedure is very useful for a choice of the set of gear wheels. The total mass of gear wheels is assumed as an objective function. Equality and inequality restriction conditions are determined with respect to the standard recommendations and the literature. The center distance between the shafts is obtained through the optimization procedure imposed on the stage of the reducer which is subjected to the maximum load. The center distance after rounding is used next as a parameter in all variants of the reducer. The general formulation of the problem is presented for the considered engineering example. The numerical calculations are carried out for the specific data.

Opis:
Five-axis milling is a modern, flexible and constantly developing manufacturing process, which can be used for the machining of external cylindrical gears by means of cylindrical end mills and special disc mills on universal multi-axis machining centres. The article pre-sents a new method of positioning the tip and the axis of the end mill and the disc cutter in order to ensure a constant value of deviation of the theoretical roughness Rth along the entire length of the tooth profile. The first part presents a mathematical model of the five-axis milling process of the cylindrical gear and an algorithm for calculating the Rth deviation values. The next section describes the positioning of the end mill and the disc cutter. Then, a new method for the empirical determination of the distribution of the involute root angle Δui and the da-ta description by means of the interpolation function are presented and described. In the conducted numerical tests, the influence of the geometrical parameters of the cylindrical gear on the deviation Rth is determined, assuming a constant Rth value in the five-axis milling pro-cess.

This paper presents some methods of minimizing noise level by means of lowering sources of noise emission. In the case of gears, they are first of all mounting deviations, meshing in and meshing out excitations as well as meshing stiffness fluctuations. Previous research has shown that a noise decrease should be expected when wheels with high contact ratio are used. Experiments of the acoustic property of high contact ratio wheels Εα= 2.03 and wheels with its regular value were conducted. They revealed some useful qualities of the former type of teeth.

This paper discusses some issues related to a constructional reduction of gear vibrations. The results of measurements of toothed gears showed that a high tooth profile with a total contact ratio has good properties. This improvement is caused by a reduction in the variations of tooth stiffness, one of the main sources of noise and vibration. Moreover, best noise reduction was achieved with a higher value of contact ratio and tooth profile modifications.

Opis:
Considering the phenomenon during teeth cooperation in a toothed gear and produced loads within the macro and micro areas of contact surface, one should be paying attention to the type and condition of the surface layer. Shot peening is often recommended, especially for gears particularly loaded in addition to hardening by heat treatment. Therefore, the study presents hardness changes in tooth surface layers after shot peening, when the surfaces had been previously carburized and quenched. The article presents hardness distribution over the depth of the teeth. Measurements were made on oblique polished and etched surface, which allows the identification of the microhardness near the outer surface and through the depth up to the core. Furthermore, based on data analysis obtained from X-ray diffraction, the amount of retained austenite was estimated and changes in the metallographic structure after shot peening were illustrated.
Rozpatrując zjawiska podczas współpracy zębów w przekładni zębatej i wywoływane obciążenia w obrębie mikro- i makroobszarów powierzchni styku, należy zwrócić uwagę na stan i rodzaj warstwy wierzchniej.

Opis:
Carburizing is one of the most popular and wide used thermo-chemical treatment methods of surface modification of tool steels. It is a process based on carbon diffusive enrichment of the surface material and is applied for elements that are supposed to present higher hardness and wear resistance sustaining core ductility. Typical elements submitted to carburizing process are gears, shafts, pins and bearing elements. In the last years, more and more popular, especially in highly advanced treatment procedures used in the aerospace industry is vacuum carburizing. It is a process based on chemical treatment of the surface in lower pressure, providing much higher uniformity of carburized layer, lower process cost and much lesser negative impact on environment to compare with conventional carburizing methods, as for example gas carburizing in Endo atmosphere. Unfortunately, aerospace industry requires much more detailed description of the phenomena linked to this process method and the literature background shows lack of tests that could confirm fulfilment of all needed requirements and to understand the process itself in much deeper meaning. In the presented paper, authors focused their research on acetylene flow impact on carburized layer characteristic. This is one of the most crucial parameters concerning homogeneity and uniformity of carburized layer properties. That is why, specific process methodology have been planned based on different acetylene flow values, and the surface layer of the steel gears have been investigated in meaning to impact on any possible change in potential properties of the final product.

In the paper the possibility of the direct application of forcing computed function based on the elementary model of the diesel engine regarding issues of the rattle vibrations in modelling of gears was introduced. In this way the simulated indicator diagrams were created. After that, build diagrams were used to calculate tangential forces and torques operating in the drive system. Considering only the torsional vibrations, these calculated values of torques can be introduced as the forcing that are acting on gears inside of the gearbox. The presented in the article different models enable us to diagnose and analyse the neutral gear rattle. The forcing of the diesel engine introduced at the low range of rotation speeds is one of the most important parameters which may cause, within the clearance, the creation of the phenomenon of a lack of contact of the regular meshing of teeth, and, as a consequence vibrations and the difficult acoustic effects connected with rattle.

The type of progressive safety gear that has the shortest time of reaction and the shortest effective braking distance in its group, was chosen for tests. The tests were carried out on an emplacement, which simulated the movement of passenger lift. Tests of emergency braking were performed at variable load of a cabin corresponding to the mass of different passengers number. The cabin was dispelled by the gravity force using its free-fall. During the braking, the values of accelerations effected on individual parts of dummy, were measured. Based on them and using HIC and Nij indexes, the impact of temporary accelerations on passenger’s health was determined.

Opis:
As one of the key components of the aircraft in terms of both operation and safety landing gears are of special interest of the aviation regulations. During the touch down landing gears need to dissipate as much of the energy as possible maintaining the lowest volume and weight as required by the aviation design restrictions. According to the aviation regulations landing gears have to be tested in order to prove the dissipation of the calculated landing energy and to evaluate actual loads acting on the fuselage via the mounting nodes of the landing gears. The tests need to replicate the real landing conditions as closely as possible - including the lift force (or lift) acting on the aircraft during landing. The lift force during landing is not sufficient to maintain the aircraft in flight but acts as the relief force to the aircraft weight resulting in lowering loads applied to the fuselage and decreasing landing energy needed to be dissipated. The lift force or lift has to be taken into account during laboratory tests of landing gears. The lift force needs to be simulated in all of the landing gears dynamic tests: performance optimization, proof of the operation for the certification, and the fatigue evaluation. There are two main methods of applying the lift during the tests: equivalent/effective mass or direct lift application. The latter is used at the Landing Gear Laboratory of the Lukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Aviation (where author works on daily basis). The lift is applied by the pneumatic cylinders built in the test stand. Until recently the control of the lift force value was performed indirectly by the measurement of the pressure inside the pneumatic system. Recently the experimental direct measurement system using force transducers was introduced in order to directly measure the lift force during every test. In the presented paper, the author gives an overview of the lift force measurement system including its design and the results of the preliminary use evaluation.
