The paper presents introduction to the research on possible supplying ship diesel engines with mixtures of diesel oils and vegetable oils or their esters with accounting for ecological aspects - exhaust gas purity. Characteristics of vegetable oils and their esters are compared with those diesel oils. Consequences of their application to diesel engines, mainly for their working process and exhaust gas content, are indicated. Also, influence of combusting mixtures of diesel oil and vegetable oils or their esters, are discussed in the same context. The paper presents results of experimental tests which were carried out on a ship diesel engine supplied with marine diesel oil(MDO) and the oil and rape oil methyl esters mixed (MDO/RME) in different proportions (i.e. 5% RME in MDO, 10% RME in MDO and 20% RME in MDO). The results obtained from the tests when supplying the engine with the MDO alone was assumed the reference point for determination of influence of combustion of the MDO/RME mixtures on the engine's working parameters and its exhaust gas content. It was paid to influence of combustion of the mixtures of diesel oil and rape oil methyl esters on working parameters of the engine, including noxious components capacity.

The article is devoted to problems connected with pollution of the atmosphere by ship engines. Atmosphere protection against pollution on sea vessels covers one of the most important areas of human ecological activity which has its own history as well as some achievements. The most crucial ones include 73/78 MARPOL Convention (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) referring to prevention against marine environment pollution, and later amendments to the Convention with Annex VI (Regulation for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) dealing with reducing the emission of nitric oxides and sulphur oxides into the atmosphere by sea vessels engines Nitric oxides emissions from a given engine will depend on engine technical condition. Therefore it was to decided execute laboratory tests on influence of selected failures ship diesel engine, on its exhaust gas content, first of all on change nitric oxygen emission level. The article presents the results of experimental tests of the influence of charging air pressure, injection advance angle and injector opening pressure on content of exhaust gas, especially content nitric oxides (NOx), of ship diesel engine supplied with marine heavyfuel oil IF4.

Opis:
All aluminum alloys in a liquid state are characterised by easy oxidation and absorption of hydrogen from the surroundings (which are the main reasons for casting defects). The amount of hydrogen adsorbed by a liquid alloy depends mainly on temperature and melting time. The performed investigations were aimed at comparing two known methods of measuring a metal gassing degree; the first bubble method and sample solidification under decreased pressure. Liquid metal melting and holding processes were performed under different conditions that caused variability of its gassing degree, resulting in a variability of purity and quality of the liquid metal. The investigations were carried out with using the hypoeutectic aluminum-silica AK7 alloy.
Wszystkie stopy aluminiowe w stanie ciekłym charakteryzują się łatwym utlenianiem i pochłanianiem wodoru z otaczającej atmosfery, co jest główną przyczyną wad odlewniczych. Ilość wodoru zaabsorbowanego przez ciekły stop zależy głównie od temperatury i czasu topienia. Przeprowadzone badania miały na celu porównanie dwóch znanych metod pomiaru stopnia zagazowania metalu, metodę pierwszego pęcherzyka oraz metodę krzepnięcia próbki pod obniżonym ciśnieniem. Proces topienia i przetrzymywania ciekłego metalu odbywał się w różnych warunkach, co powodowało zmienność stopnia zagazowania, a tym samym czystości i jakości ciekłego metalu. Wykonane badania zostały przeprowadzone z wykorzystaniem podeutektycznego stopu aluminium-krzem AK7.

The article presents the results of experimental tests of the influence of charging air pressure on content of exhaust gas, especially content nitric oxides (NOx), ofship diesel engine supplied with marine heavy fuel oil IF 40. Nitric oxides emissions for a given engine will depend on charging air parameters. Change of air parameters in this method of reducing NOX emissions involves cooling the air and changes in pressure at the beginning of compression stroke. The process of cooling the scavenging air means decreases the inlet air temperature and at the same time decreases the maximum cylinder temperature. Opis:
Among the apparatuses with a regular arrangement of packing elements creating an in-phase mode of vortex interaction, which ensures high efficiency of the processes, it is interesting to use a standard tubular packing. Such packing allows additional advantages associated with heat supply or extraction directly in the contact zone of the interacting phases, which is very important for conducting some chemisorption processes. The research covers such hydrodynamic regularities as hydraulic resistance during a heat carrier movement in pipes and during external flow around a tubular beam, retained liquid amount and gas content of layer in the external flow around the tubular beam with liquid and gas flows. The research was carried out using an experimental setup with a heat and mass transfer apparatus with regular tubular packing. The medium used during experiments is water-air. The research methodology included standard methods for determining hydraulic resistance and retained liquid amount and visual observation and photographing of gas-liquid flows. The novelty of the research was equations – one for calculating the hydraulic resistance in pipes, taking into account local resistances and pipe roughness. The other ones for determining the pressure losses during the external flow around the tubular beam, the retained liquid amount, and the gas content of the layer, taking into account the vortex interaction of gas and liquid flows. Graphical and calculated dependences of the investigated hydrodynamic characteristics were obtained as a result of the conducted research of the hydraulic resistance during the heat carrier movement in the pipes, as well as the hydraulic resistance and the retained liquid amount during the external flow around the tubular beam with a change in the gas velocity and irrigation density. When the heat carrier flows in the pipes, the numerical values of the hydraulic resistance in the transient mode do not exceed 1.5 kPa, in the developed turbulence mode in the range of the Reynolds number from 1·104 to 6·104 ΔР varies from 1.5 to 53 kPa. With the external flow around the tubular beam, in the developed turbulence mode wg = 4 m/s and L = 25 m3/m2h, the hydraulic resistance is 85 Pa, the retained liquid amount is 4.5·10-3 m. The change in the irrigation density in this mode (developed turbulence) in the L range from 10 to 100 m3/m2h leads to an increase in the hydraulic resistance from 65 to 160 Pa, the retained liquid amount from 2.16·10-3 to 13.6·10-3 m. The calculated dependencies are the basis of the method for calculating the hydrodynamic characteristics of the apparatus with the regular tubular packing, which can be used to calculate industrial devices.

The paper deals with the problem of multiple remelting influence on AlSi6Cu4 alloy modified by antimony on chosen mechanical characteristics, microstructure and gas content. This foundry alloy is used mostly in automotive industry. Foundry Aluminum-Silicon alloys are also used in number of industrial weight sensitive applications because of their low weight and very good castability and good mechanical properties. Modifiers are usually added to molten aluminum-silicon alloys to refine the eutectic phase particle shape and improve the mechanical properties of the final cast products and Al-Si alloys cast properties.

The paper discusses influence of the charging air parameters marine diesel engine on the emission toxic compounds in aspect of protecting the atmosphere against pollution from the sea vessels, pointed to the possibility of reducing NOx emissions by changing the parameters of charging air. In this group of activities undertaken to reduce nitric oxides emissions applied inter alia cooling the air and changes in pressure at the beginning of compression stroke. This is discussed in the background of normative acts, in particular the 73/78 MARPOL Convention (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) referring to prevention against marine environment pollution, and later amendments to the Convention with Annex VI (Regulation for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) dealing with reducing the emission of nitric oxides and sulphur oxides into the atmosphere by sea vessels engines.It was also discussed the issue of air humidification as a method to reduce NOx by injecting hot water into a stream of pumped air. This is an overview on the example of two methods proposed for using in marine engines: CASS (Combustion Air Saturation System), HAM (Humid Air Motor system). The results of experimental tests of the influence of charging air pressure on content of exhaust gas, especially content nitric oxides (NOx), of ship diesel engine supplied with marine heavy fuel oil IF40 have been presented in this paper.

The paper suggests methods for determining the basic parameters of ordinary and unconventional gas reservoirs, namely identification parameter, true porosity, gas saturation and volume gas content. The set of these parameters can be obtained in both open wells and cased wells with the help of a combination of density and neutron loggings taking into account PT-conditions of gas reservoirs occurrence (up to 10 km). The application of developed approaches for the estimation of the petrophysical parameters of gas reservoirs are demonstrated by the example of cased gas well.
W artykule zaproponowano sposoby wyznaczania głównych parametrów, w konwencjonalnych i niekonwencjonalnych gazonośnych skałach zbiornikowych, tzw. parametr identyfikacyjny, rzeczywistą porowatość, nasycenie gazem, objętościową zawartość gazu. Zestaw tych parametrów może być otrzymany zarówno w niezarurowanych, jak i zarurowanych otworach wiertniczych, za pomocą kombinacji radiometrycznych profilowań z uwzględnieniem zmiennych ciśnień i temperatury w skałach zbiornikowych (do 10 km). Zastosowanie przedstawionych w artykule sposobów dla liczbowej oceny petrofizycznych parametrów, gazonośnych skał zbiornikowych zademonstrowano na przykładzie odwiertu zarurowanego.

Opis:
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) can be realized on the external or internal way. The main goal of EGR is to decrease the combustion temperature of the combustible mixture by increasing the relative heat capacity of the working medium. An additional effect is to reduce the oxygen content in the gas mixture flowing into the combustion chamber. To quantify the exhaust gas recirculation some descriptive parameters are defined, including: – exhaust gas recirculation rate R, – multiple of exhaust gas recirculation K, – relative exhaust gas recirculation W. The analysis concerns the effective oxygen excess ratio Oef in the combustible mixture and the so-called internal oxygen excess ratio Ow,, which additionally takes into account the supplied oxygen with the recirculation stream. It was found that with increasing of the exhaust gas recirculation degree systematically decreases the content of the oxygen [O2]d in the combustible mixture, while increases the oxygen excess ratio Oef observed in the exhaust gases. Changes of this all parameters influence the combustion coditions in the engine cylinder, and next the achieved specifaic work, energy efficiency and emission of the combustion engine. An advanced system with independent, early exhaust valve closing enables realization of an internal EGR. Effectiveness of internal recirculation is lower than the external recirculation.

The aim of this work is to examine the impact of the hydrogen blended natural gas on the linepack energy under emergency scenarios of the pipeline operation. Production of hydrogen from renewable energy sources through electrolysis and subsequently injecting it into the natural gas network, gives flexibility in power grid regulation and the energy storage. In this context, knowledge about the hydrogen percentage content, which can safely effect on materials in a long time steel pipeline service during transport of the hydrogen-natural gas mixture, is essential for operators of a transmission network. This paper first reviews the allowable content of hydrogen that can be blended with natural gas in existing pipeline systems, and then investigates the impact on linepack energy with both startup and shutdown of the compressors scenarios. In the latter case, an unsteady gas flow model is used. To avoid spurious oscillations in the solution domain, a flux limiter is applied for the numerical approximation. The GERG-2008 equation of state is used to calculate the physical properties. For the case study, a tree-topological high pressure gas network, which have been inservice for many years, is selected. The outcomes are valuable for pipeline operators to assess the security of supply.

In this work, new experimental value for water content in sour natural gas were reported. In addition, to predict the water content in sour natural gas, a modified cubic plus association equation of state (CPA-EoS) was also proposed. In this model, a new energy parameter a was proposed to make an accurate description of saturated liquid density. Additionally, a temperature dependent binary interaction parameter kij for six binary systems was also obtained. Lastly, a comparison between the prediction results of the modified CPA-EoS and the experimental data was presented, and the results showed that the modifi ed CPA-EoS could predict the water content in sour natural gas with high accuracy, which has an AAD of 3.6722% with experimental data in literatures and an AAD of 1.946% for experimental data reported in this work.

The present pot experiment studied the effect of different soil moisture contents (60 – 70% CWC (capillary water capacity) – control; 30 – 35% CWC – water stress) on buckwheat productivity, the gas exchange parameters and health of buckwheat nuts. It was found that water deficit affected adversely certain biometric features investigated (plant height, number of nuts per cluster) and caused a decrease in seed weight per plant. It was also shown that water stress reduced the values of the investigated gas exchange parameters (photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate, intercellular-space CO2 concentration, and stomatal conductance) relative to the control treatment. Different soil moisture contents did not have a clear effect on fungal colonization of seeds. The multiplex PCR assays did not enable the detection of the genes responsible for mycotoxin synthesis. Under water deficit conditions, an increase was found in the content of albumin and globulin fractions as well as of glutelin fractions.
