Opis:
In this paper the results of the research based on simulation of human gait were presented. The model of the lower limbs of 14 degrees of freedom was described. The simulation of gait was done and selected biomechanical parameters with description were presented. The dynamic forces in selected muscles at each joint and the muscle length changes as a function of an angle were specified.

Opis:
International Society of Biomechanics has proposed a general reporting standard for joint kinematics based on anatomical reference frames. Nevertheless, the gait analysis protocols based on this standard are still poorly reported. The purpose of the current study is to propose and preliminarily assess the potential of an anatomically based ISB 6-DOF protocol, which combines the ISB reporting standard together with a marker cluster technique. The proposed technical marker set enables full description of the lower limb kinematics (including three-dimensional ankle-foot complex rotations) according to the current biomechanical recommendation. The marker set provides a clinically acceptable inter-trial repeatability and minimal equipment requirements.

Opis:
Purpose: The kinematic analysis of gait during pregnancy provides more information about the anatomical changes and contributes to exercise and rehabilitation prescription. The purposes were to describe and quantify the spatial, temporal and kinematic parameters in the joints of the lower limb during gait at the end of the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancy and in the postpartum period. Methods: A three-dimensional analysis was performed in eleven pregnant women. Repeated measures ANOVA was performed for comparisons between periods. Results: The longitudinal effect of pregnancy was not observed in spatial and temporal parameters. In joint kinematics the effect of pregnancy was observed in all joints for the three planes of motion. The hip joint and pelvis are the structures with more changes, and the results point to an increase in the anterior tilt of the pelvis as the pregnancy progresses, as well as a decrease of the amplitudes of the hip joint. The results suggested that pregnant women need to maintain the stability of the body, and become more efficient in locomotion. Conclusions: In general, the results retrieve the values from the beginning of pregnancy, indicating that the body was self-organized in order to overcome the morphological and physiological changes which women suffer during pregnancy, indicating that they have the ability to adapt depending on the demands, and after the effect of pregnancy is over, they return to values similar to those found in early pregnancy

Opis:
The aim of this study was to establish the reference values of spatiotemporal parameters, joint angles, ground reaction forces and plantar pressure distribution collected simultaneously on the same measurement path during normal gait in a homogenous group of young, healthy women. Methods: The studied group consisted of 28 healthy women aged 21 years on average. The motion capture system BTS Smart-D, 2 AMTI force platforms and Footscan pedobarographic platform were used in this research. The 14-metre measurement path and the 6-metre distance that examined women had to walk through before entering the measurement area ensured that a natural gait pattern was recorded. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate differences between right and left lower extremities. Results: The applied method enabled collecting several parameters regarding normal female gait biomechanics such as: spatiotemporal parameters, angle-time characteristics as well as range of motion of pelvis, hip, knee and ankle joints in gait cycle, force-time characteristics and peaks of ground reaction force components in stance phase, peak pressure and time of loading of defined foot regions in stance phase. Conclusions: The results may be used by clinicians, physiotherapists or researchers as a reference in diagnosing gait disorders or evaluating patient’s walking pattern. In recent literature there are some disparities in gait parameters reference values even regarding similar research groups. These differences may arise from distinct method, slower or faster gait, other laboratory environment etc. This should be considered and more than one source of normative values should be checked when searching for reference data.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to describe changes in the kinematic parameters in the patients’ gait after total hip replacement. Methods: Research group of men in the end stage of osteoarthritis indicated to the THR (n = 10; age 54.1 ± 7.5 years; weight 92.2 ± 9.6 kg; height 179.7 ± 5.9 cm). All participants underwent a total of three measurements: before surgery, 3 and 6 months after the surgery. Using the 3D kinematic analysis system, the patients’ gait was recorded during each measurement session and kinematic analysis was carried out. The parameters that were monitored included the sagittal range of motion while walking in the ankle, the knee and the hip joints of the operated and the unoperated limb, and the range in the hip joint’s frontal plane, the rotation of pelvis in the frontal and transverse planes, as well as the speed of walking and the walking step length. Results: Significant increases were found in sagittal range of motion in the operated hip joint, sagittal range of motion in the ankle joint on the unoperated side and in the walking step length of the unoperated limb. Conclusions: During walking after a THR, the sagittal range of motion in the ankle of the unoperated limb increases. Also, the range of motion in the sagittal plane on the operated joint increases, which is related to the lengthening of the step of the unoperated lower limb.

Opis:
The Pteraichnustrackmaker is usually hypothesized to be either a pterosaur or a crocodilian. Though the latter interpretation is recently not widely accepted, more experimental work on trackways of extant crocodilians is necessary to settle the debate. Here, the trackways of three species of modern crocodiles (Paleosuchus trigonatus, Crocodylus porosus, and Tomistoma schlegelii) in all major gaits and postures, namely sprawling, walking and running, were compared with Pteraichnus trackways. In all experimentally generated crocodilian trackways pentadactyl manus tracks are recognized, the external width between pes tracks is wider than the corresponding internal width between manus tracks, and tail marks are usually present. All crocodilian trackways collected in the present study revealed significant differences from Pteraichnus, which strongly suggests a non−crocodilian origin of Pteraichnus.

Opis:
Kontrola położenia środka ciężkości ciała podczas chodu jest jednym z kluczowych kryteriów w programowaniu terapii różnych schorzeń aparatu ruchu. Celem pracy było określenie wpływu stereotypów ruchowych pracy stawów goleniowo-skokowych, kolanowych, biodrowych, miednicy i klatki piersiowej na przestrzenne zmiany położenia środka ciężkości ciała u chorych na chorobę Huntingtona (ang. Huntington disease, HD). W wyniku przeprowadzonej trójwymiarowej analizy ruchu stwierdzono istotny statystycznie p ˂ 0,05 wpływ ruchów mimowolnych tułowia i kończyn dolnych na schemat pionowych i poziomych przemieszczeń środka ciężkości. Ponadnormatywne ruchy klatki piersiowej w znacznie większym stopniu wpływały na zmiany położenia środka ciężkości niż zidentyfikowane dysfunkcje w obszarze kończyn dolnych i miednicy. Uzyskane wyniki mogą znaleźć istotne zastosowanie przy budowaniu modelu usprawniania chorych na HD.
The control of the body mass center during gait is one of the key criteria that allow therapy programming in a variety of locomotory system disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of stereotyped motion of ankle, knee, hip, pelvis and thorax on spatial change of the body mass center position in patients suffered from Huntington disease (HD).Three dimensional motion analysis was performed. It was found that there is a statically significant impact, p < 0.05, of the trunk and lower extremities involuntary movements on the mass center in both; vertical and horizontal directions. The changes of the body mass center position were considerably influenced by the over normative thorax motions comparing to the dysfunctions of the pelvic and lower extremities region. Obtained results can be successfully applied to establish a new approach in the rehabilitation of patients with HD
