Opis:
Predictive Functional Control (PFC), belonging to the family of predictive control techniques, has been demonstrated as a powerful algorithm for controlling process plants. The input/output PFC formulation has been a particularly attractive paradigm for industrial processes, with a combination of simplicity and effectiveness. Though its use of a lag plus delay ARX/ARMAX model is justified in many applications, there exists a range of process types which may present difficulties, leading to chattering and/or instability. In this paper, instability of first order PFC is addressed, and solutions to handle higher order and difficult systems are proposed. The input/output PFC formulation is extended to cover the cases of internal models with zero and/or higher order pole dynamics in an ARX/ARMAX form, via a parallel and cascaded model decomposition. Finally, a generic form of PFC, based on elementary outputs, is proposed to handle a wider range of higher order oscillatory and non-minimum phase systems. The range of solutions presented are supported by appropriate examples.

Opis:
Automation of data processing of contactless diagnostics (detection) of the technical condition of the majority of nodes and aggregates of railway transport (RWT) minimizes the damage from failures of these systems in operating modes. This becomes possible due to the rapid detection of serious defects at the stage of their origin. Basically, in practice, the control of the technical condition of the nodes and aggregates of the RWT is carried out during scheduled repairs. It is not always possible to identify incipient defects. Consequently, it is not always possible to warn personnel (machinists, repairmen, etc.) of significant damage to the RWT systems until their complete failure. The difficulties of obtaining diagnostic information is that there is interdependence between the main nodes of the RWT. This means that if physical damage occurs at any of the RWT nodes, in other nodes there can also occur malfunctions. As the main way to improve the efficiency of state detection of the nodes and aggregates of RWT, we see the direction of giving the adaptability property for an automated data processing system from various contactless diagnostic information removal systems. The global purpose can be achieved, in particular, through the use of machine learning methods and failure recognition (recognition objects). In order to improve the operational reliability and service life of the main nodes and aggregates of RWT, there are proposed an appropriate model and algorithm of machine learning of the operator control system of nodes and aggregates. It is proposed to use the Shannon normalized entropy measure and the Kullback-Leibler distance information criterion as a criterion of the learning effectiveness of the automated detection system and operator node state control of RWT. The article describes the application of the proposed method on the example of an automatic detection system (ADS) of the state of a traction motor of an electric locomotive. There are given the test data of the model and algorithm in the MATLAB environment.

The article presents the idea of the response compression technique called signature analysis used to validate PLC software in terms of functional control safety. The method of implementation of the developed validation idea, having practical application, was presented on the simulation examples. The research results based on a selected example are presented.

We consider the control problem with multidimensional integral functional where state and control satisfy a system of the first order hyperbolic PDE. Next, a type of deformation with control of the domain is described and then we define suitable shape functional. Having defined trajectory and control of deformation the dual dynamic programming tools are applied to derive optimality condition for the shape functional with respect to such a deformation.

The paper concerns a new view on the problem of integral control in the context of nonlinear uncertain systems. It is demonstrated that a standard integral action applied to the linear control system with so-called load disturbances, can be generalized to comprise a class of linearly parameterized nonlinear SISO systems with functional uncertainty. In this case the integral action is turned out to be in fact an adaptation law of unknown parameters. It has been found that the obtained proportional-integral controller's variable gains are the basis functions of the system unknown nonlinearity approximator.

The functional adaptation of bone is a process of bone tissue remodeling induced by variable in time mechanical demands that the skeleton has to satisfy. It is a very complex but highly organized process composed of events at micro-level (molecular and cellular) but having effects in macro-scale (variation of bone internal structure and external shape). Mathematical models of this phenomenon proposed in the literature represent formulas postulated on the basis of the results of medical observations or laboratory investigations and describe locally the evolution of a material in space and time. In the present paper a use is made of the hypothesis of optimal response of bone, proposed earlier by the author, what enables derivation (instead of postulation) the remodeling rules from a very general and global assumption. It turns out that such a formulation has many similarities to engineering optimal control problems. The link between the postulated local adaptation rules and those derived from the global assumption is also discussed.
Funkcjonalna adaptacja kości jest procesem polegającym na przebudowie tkanki kostnej wywołanej zmieniającymi się w czasie wymaganiami mechanicznymi, jakie musi spełniać szkielet kostny. Proces ten jest niezwykle złożony, ale doskonale zorganizowany i składa się z szeregu zjawisk zachodzących na poziomie mikro (molekularnym i komórkowym) lecz mających efekt na poziomie makro (zmiana zewnętrznego kształtu kości oraz jej struktury wewnętrznej). Matematyczne modele tego zjawiska, postulowane w oparciu o obserwacje medyczne i badania laboratoryjne, opisują lokalną ewolucję materiału w czasie i przestrzeni. W tej pracy zastosowano hipotezę optymalnej odpowiedzi kości zaproponowaną wcześniej przez autora w celu wyprowadzenia (zamiast postulowania) związków rządzących przebudową kości w oparciu o bardzo ogólne założenia. Okazuje się, że takie sformułowanie ma wiele wspólnego z zagadnieniami optymalnego sterowania. W pracy zaprezentowano przykład zastosowania omawianego podejścia oraz przeprowadzono krótką dyskusję na temat związków między postulowanymi modelami i wyprowadzonymi w oparciu o przyjętą hipotezę.

The new robust BMI stability condition for given predictive and control horizon is derived which guarantees the parameter dependent quadratic stability and guaranteed cost.The proposed condition is appropriate for centralized and decentralized control design, as illustrated on example.

A Mayer's problem for a singularly perturbed controlled system with the general type of a small state delay is considered. The control is subject to geometrical constraints. The cost functional is a function of the terminal value of the slow state variable. A simpler parameter-free optimal control problem (the reduced problem) is associated with the original problem. A convergence of the optimal value of the cost functional in the original problem to the optimal value of the cost functional in the reduced problem, as a parameter of singular perturbation tends to zero, is established. An asymptotic suboptimality of the optimal control of the reduced problem in the original problem is shown. These results are extended to some more general optimal control problems. An illustrative example is presented.

The aim of this article is to identify and discuss some methodological issues that are of interest among functional safety specialists and experts after publication of the second edition of international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, including the design and implementing the safety-related functions of higher safety integrity levels and protection layers. The basic role of safety-related systems is to reduce effectively and to control in time the individual and/or societal risk with regard to its tolerable levels. These issues include: risk criteria, reliability data, probabilistic models of systems operating in high and/or low mode, dependent failures, human reliability analysis, security of programmable safety-related systems, and reducing uncertainty issues in decision making process applying the cost-benefit analysis. Selected aspects of these issues are discussed and some challenges requiring further research are indicated.

The paper is devoted to a particular case of the nonlinear and nonautonomous control law design problem based on the application of the optimization approach. Close attention is paid to the controlled plants, which are presented by affine-control mathematical models characterized by integral quadratic functionals. The proposed approach to controller design is based on the optimal damping concept firstly developed by V.I. Zubov in the early 1960s. A modern interpretation of this concept allows us to construct effective numerical procedures of control law synthesis initially oriented to practical implementation. The main contribution is the proposition of a new methodology for selecting the functional to be damped. The central idea is to perform parameterization of a set of admissible items for this functional. As a particular case, a new method of this parameterization has been developed, which can be used for constructing an approximate solution to the classical optimization problem. Applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach are confirmed by a practical numerical example.

The approach addresses selected technical and organization aspects of risk mitigation in the oil port installations with regard to functional safety and security requirements specified in standards IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62443. The procedure for functional safety management includes the hazard identification, risk analysis and assessment, specification of overall safety requirements and definition of safety functions. Based on the risk evaluation results the safety integrity level (SIL) and security assurance level (SAL) will be determined for consecutive safety functions. The proposed approach will be composed of the following items: process and procedure based safety and security management, example of procedure based safety management including insurance, integrated safety and security assessment of industrial control system (ICS) of the oil port pipelines, tanks and critical infrastructure.

The article discusses the problem of choosing the optimal frequency of functional tests, taking into account the reliability and law requirements, but also the impact of business aspects in the company. The subject of functional test interval is well described for purposes of the process industry. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the machinery safety functions with low demand mode. This is followed by a presentation of the current business approach, which, in order to achieve industrial excellence, monitor their performance through the appropriate selection of key performance indicators. In addition, companies are increasingly exploring potential risks in the following areas: new challenges in advanced risk management, including the perception of the company’s facilities as a safe workplace insight of customers and business partners. Eliminating potential hazards is increasingly taking into account, especially the impact of human activity and its interaction with machines. The case study has been presented based on the machines used for the production of tire semi-finished products. In this article, the authors propose a solution for selecting the interval of functional tests of safety functions and additional machine protection measures as a compromise to achieve satisfactory results in terms of safety requirements, performance and legal requirements.
